APPARENTLY there is a reboot of the Starship Troopers movie franchise in the works, one that will allegedly be more faithful to the original book (thank god). I haven't been able to find much specific information online, but was curious as to what you people might think of this development.

Obviously I would prefer they pretty much just ripped off the old TV show for this new film, but that is unlikely. It does sound like we will finally be ditching the theme and aesthetics of the original movie and its sequels, however, which I can only really be happy for. Will we see powered armor be standard issue? Will the Skinnies be involved? Is Dizzy going to be a guy this time?

Only time will tell.

Your thoughts?

Meh the first movie was good and third ok the 4th one was interesting" But yeah a rough necks remake would befun. All so maybe not hire white people to do the roles of non white people this time.

Personally i think fore ever war and for ever peace should become movies instead. I wasnt to see a ship crash in to planet at FTL speeds.

Can't say I've ever read Forever War but just looking at the wikipedia page for it I don't think it's something Hollywood would ever want to make a movie of.

Not unless they completely butchered the story, anyway.

My thought is that the original books were boring as hell to read, tectonic plates move faster than those plots did. The Starship Troopers that actually made it into theatres was completely misunderstood, the satire just flew over everyone's heads. The whole concept of a single infantryman as a mobile weapons platform/warship (the author was a navy vet) is a bit difficult to generate appeal for. People don't understand what real war is like, they only get WW2 and Vietnam wannabes. There's really very little creativity in Hollywood. I'm afraid the movie will either be another WW2-in-space, or it'll blur the lines with Battletech/Gundam.

I loved the Starship Trooper movies that featured Johnny Rico. The ones that didn't, I found to be tacky. I still haven't watched all of 2-4 though I keep trying
