DESCRIPTION
In the days before the Galactic Empire, ST-70 assault ships, nicknamed "Razor Crests," were popular patrol craft used by various planetary navies to patrol their space. They were more cost effective than other, more expensive gunship models, and were well-liked for being durable, reliable crafts. The crafts fell out of use around the beginning of the Clone Wars, when large leaps in naval technology outpaced the Razor Crests' usage and left the remaining ships in the hands of mostly bounty hunters and mercenaries in need of a cheap ride.

In the era following the Empire's collapse, Razor Crests were scarce but still popular among bounty hunters. Most starship vendors regarded them as junk compared to newer model ships and even used vendors refused to sell them. However, they could be found on junkyard worlds or planets whose starports refit and sold older model ships out to those looking for a cheap way off-world. Combined with the ease of modifying their load out, and they were oft sought out among Mandalorian bounty hunters operating in the Rim during the early days of the New Republic.

The reason for their popularity among bounty hunters is simple: Razor Crests were largely spacious with plenty of room to store a variety of weapons, speeder bikes, and were also equipped to carry prisoners thanks to their former role in planetary law enforcement. This made transporting bounties simple. Furthermore, as Razor Crests were pre-Empire, they were mostly off the grid and could avoid the new methods of detective developed by the New Republic and subsequent galactic governments.

These days, Razor Crests are even harder to find. Parts can still be found littered around junkyard worlds and in the sandcrawlers of Jawas; and a few vintage dealers in the Outer Rim Territories will still sell them cheaply. However, they are considered mostly outdated and out of style, even among bounty hunters. Still, for those mercenaries without the means to purchase a more flashy starship, or those who are simply looking to avoid the detection of the Republic, the Free Worlds Alliance, and the Consortium, Razor Crests provided a cheap and reliable mode of transportation from one corner of the galaxy to the next.

LEGALITY
Illegal. Though they are easy to get, and almost anyone with a bag of credits can purchase one (if they're lucky enough to find one), Razor Crests are pre-Empire and thus lack many of the modern specs required for legal starship registration. As a result, they are frequently stopped by law enforcement and are usually impounded if the pilot is caught having failed to update their ship to modern registration standards.

INTENT
To bring a popular canon ship onto the site for mercenaries and bounty hunters and Mandalorians alike.
