Species Profile Template

Thank you for taking the time to read about the template for your own personally created species. Please note that ALL submissions require approval by an admin before they can be used or referenced in the role-play.

Please be aware that a properly completed template will have all fields filled out. Note as well that, unlike character profiles, a literary form for species is not an option. The template, as written, must be filled out.

Species approvals will be overseen by Empress. Please feel free to leave her a Private Message or Visitor Message if you have any questions about species approvals.

The template is as follows:

  • Name: What is the name of your species?
  • Biology: What is the physical appearance and make up of your species? Does your species have any special features or abilities?
  • Subspecies: Is your species sub-divided by any means? What sets these groups apart?
  • Breeding: How does your species reproduce? How do they advance into biological adulthood? Are they compatible to breed with any other race?
  • Strengths: What particular strengths does your species posses?
  • Weaknesses: What weaknesses do they have?
  • Diet: How does you species sustain itself? Any specific organisms or plants?
  • Behavior/Temperament: Does your species have any typical behaviors or personality traits common among them?
  • Communication: How does your species communicate with each other or other species? Is it verbal? If so what language do they speak?
  • Culture: Does your species have any traditions or beliefs exclusive to them?
  • History: What is your species' history? This does not need to be lengthy if the species is non-sentient. However, if the species is sentient, a minimum of fifty words is required.
  • Planet: From where does your species originate and/or most commonly live? ( if a planet has been submitted please provide name as a link to planet's write up)
  • Technology: How advanced is the technology your species utilizes?
  • Notable PCs: What Player Characters (PCs) belong to this species?
  • Intent: What is your plan for this species from an RP perspective?
NOTE: This section alone can have your species dismissed. Species created on a whim or for purposes to undermine the integrity of the Story will not be approved.

NOTE. PLEASE READ:
Please note before creating a species there are a few special rules and guidelines that set this profiles apart from the regular character profiles.

1. ANY submitted material in this section is for the fair use of other RPers. That means any member of the site is able to use your species in their RP.
This fits with the already in place logic that no species or planet should be intended for a "use and discard" metric. When you are creating a planet or species you are adding to the site's lore and as such it becomes part of that. For example it'd be like someone creating Wookies and the site not being able to use them.

While the user does not need to express the intentions of their usage to the author of the species it is common courtesy to do so.

2. Incomplete or abandoned submissions will be archived after three weeks of no activity after an Admin notice:
Submissions come in, boards fill up and it can create quite the clutter. Profiles ( and this includes retracted approvals) need to be tended to. If they appear abandoned then they will be archived .
Members who have left for an extended period of time may find their submissions archived, This can be moved back upon request should the member return.

3. No carbon copies and/or redundant species
Keep in mind the galaxy is a very crowded place. If a species does not differentiate meaningfully from canon material then it will not be approved. That is to say, if the submitted species can just as easily be replaced by a canon species that serves the same point- it wont be approved. This is to assure that any new species does not impede on the already in place canon, exploit any abuses in the galaxy, or simply create a new species that simply does not need to exist.

Carbon copies may include species recreated from other universes( other non SW games/books/film etc ) represented in a way that they originally appeared. An example of this may be using the Krogan from Mass Effect, or Vulcans from Star Trek - and not changing them from their source material - or a minor change that fails to make them stand apart as a unique creation.

4. Number of species that can be created are limited on a case-by-case basis, such as whether the species is sentient or not.
Keep in mind that while we freely let you create a species that this does not mean you have that immediate right to play as this species. The species must be approved by the admin currently overseeing the section. Players who fail to abide by these rules, or abuse/over saturate the submission process may have their submissions rejected and barred from creating new submissions for a period of time .
