Today's lesson would be a bit...different.

While normally he did in fact hate being in a classroom, today it was almost mandatory for him to be in one. Because of the subject for today; telepathy.

He stood in a room surrounded by small floating spherical droids, each armed with a blaster that was set on a non-lethal setting. It would sting like hell, but nobody was dying from it anytime soon. The droids filled the room, scattered all about listening for signs of sound. They were programmed to shoot anything that uttered a word or sound. This was, after all, a lesson on telepathy. So words, spoken words, wouldn't be required.

The Arcanist was reading up on Echani Martial Arts again. He had to prepare himself for...someone.

He waited patiently. Eezeo and his Tuk'ata waited outside the door, whenever the Acolyte would show up Eezeo would play a message relaying not to make a sound upon entering.

Kathrin was all ready becoming adept to the power of the mind. He could pry memories and even alter thoughts of the week willed. But that was the week willed and kathrin could not transfer a simple messeag. It should be easy but she was doing something wrong.

Arriving out side the class a bug like droid waited for her. "Well aren't you the sweetest littil droid" the droid barrely recognized kathrin and simply relayed a messeag to be silent inside.

Opening the door kathrin spot V. Seeing he was busy kathrin gave a polite cough. A nearby droid fired at her raising a hand to block it kathrin shouted ouch witch led to 2 more droids fireing at her. Kathrin dived for cover and moved to withdraw her lightsaber.

Following simple instructions is not on your list of things you're good at I assume? What a pity. With Ashla's blessing perhaps you'll make it through this alive. Perhaps. Enough hits from those blasters and you'll leave here in a body bag. This isn't a game. This is training. The enemy will not pull punches and neither will I. Now put your saber away and listen.

The voice of the Arcanist, smooth and even and yet firm, resonated within Kathrin. Though the man's mouth never once moved, and it sounded like he was right next to her. He stood sat where he was. Studying. Focusing. It was clear he was very much aware of what was going on.

Right now the bridge between us is connected and sustained by my power. You think a thought for me and I'll get it. Telepathy is a bridge who's length and stability is controlled by the creator. Starting out you'll mostly be able to transmit pictures, emotions, maybe a word or two, but full on phrases, sentences, and speeches, such as this one, are a few sessions out. For now we have to focus on finding the power within you first. So sit. Meditate. Answer me, what are two practical uses for Telepathy? Why would someone need to communicate telepathically when we have comlinks that can span star systems?

Kathrin assumed the silence was so the crusader could meditate. But the idea that noise here could be fatal was exciting to Kathrin. After the introduction V asked a question, one that demanded 2 answers. Assuming the link was thought based Kathrin pushed the answers forward.


"Well, crusader. Telepathy is silent allowing its use in times when noise could be fatal. All so puny electronics can not interfere with it meaning it will work all ways, witch is usefully since you normally need to call for help when you know are in trouble. All so it can't be stolen or taken from you if captured and those captors would not even know you could be talking with the reinforments,

He pursed his lips and tapped them gently in thought. With a wave of his hand he projected an illusion of a table in the middle of the room with several vials of liquids on it. Each one a different color.

Each one of those are a poison that disrupts neuro pathways in the brain. They do it differently, some of them make you unable to focus, others fill you with rage or complete bliss. Either way. They unfocus you. Which means telepathy is nearly impossible for you to do. Or rather very difficult. Your answer, however, is correct. Oh. And be wary of machines, Acolyte. Some are designed to monitor brain waves.

He waved a hand and the table vanished.

Telepathy is a difficult skill to master. It starts with one's command over the mind. As you can feel, it's not very intrusive either. For that reason, most people don't even know when a link has been established. Telepathy is not, I repeat not, a means to listen in on thoughts. Each party must actively put thoughts into the tunnel for them to be heard. I will break this down. Meditate for a moment. Focus on the energies around you and try to feel my mind. Don't push, just feel.

Kathrin nodded her head and date down cross legged. Makeing sure none of the droids heard her. Then she meditated. Cleared her mind and focused. She knew how to read minds of the weak willed and followed that procedure but did not force her way in. Just stood at the gates. But she was there. Her training in mind reading and mind trick coming in handy.
