INTENT
After undertaking numerous mission threads that required stealth, I discovered that there is virtually no way to maintain any sort of stealth as it currently stands (read: blasters are loud). While last TL my go-to for stealth would have been a verpine shatter pistol, it's a non-canon, OP, magnetically-accelerated slugthrower. I think we can all see there are some issues there... So with all of that said, I'm trying to make a weapon that can be used without declaring your presence to an entire base when you're trying to sneak around for those who don't prefer a fair fight to all the sneaking around.

DESCRIPTION
The SP-30's notable feature is its ability to fire extremely quietly. The end of the barrel has an adapter that absorbs the majority of the sound associated with the firing of a gun. Instead, the only sound heard is a slight puffing sound of warm gasses being vented and the quiet sizzle of burning plasma within 30 meters. In order to better facilitate night-operations, the plasma bolts of the SP-30 are a dark bluish-black that prevents the characteristic glow that lights up the night sky. While the bolts are by no means invisible, they don't stand out against the darkness as easily as a bright green, blue, or red bolt. In order to make this possible, though, the pistol sacrifices range, only reaching a little over half of what the average blaster range is these days.

I want to get one someday. They look so fun to shoot!
Id love to shoot one. From my understanding, having never shot one myself, it's a smooth shoot. Closest pistol caliber we've got to having the power of a 5.56 in a five inch barrel, and is capable of holding 20 rounds in a magazine. You're looking at close to two grand easy for one though, and the ammo is very hard to find in the civilian market, and when you do, it's ridonkulously expensive.

Yep, that's part of why I didn't get one. Initially, I thought the rounds were extremely expensive but I was actually able to find some for ~the same price as .45 ACP but, yeah, the gun itself would cost me an arm and a leg

Edit: I guess we probably try to keep this thread relevant to the gun under submission lol

It's been awhile since I looked at the prices, but I knew they were up there. Yeah, the gun itself, while well worth the money, is gonna knock a dent in anyone's pocket. Doesn't mean it won't be the first thing I consider buying if I have an extra 2500 bucks at some point in the near future. Lmao. I'll be content to buy an AR when I have the money for now though.

If you drop ~$1,000 on a pistol, you're insane.

Anyway, most stealth we've seen in canon has been hand to hand from behind kills, or melee weapons. Not that I'm opposed to it. I think for IC reasons why we don't see this really at all we can say the adapter reduces the service life of the gun. Also, give a firm distance to which the shot can be heard.

Does 30 meters seem reasonable? If you're within range of the gun you can hear it?

An air rifle and sleep darts would be a truly silent alternative to blastors.

Just a thought.
