BIOGRAPHY
Soygun York is the son of Jorgan York, the former senator to the FWA for the planet Kattada. As a senator, York was largely successful doing what the citizens of the planet wanted- keeping it free from conflict while keeping the tourism economy alive and well with as little interference from the FWA as possible. Despite his widespread popularity as the FWA representative for Kattada, Jorgan York elected not to seek reappointment to the position due to his current legal troubles. The Yorks own several resorts on the tropical paradise of a planet, most of which are in peril of complete confiscation by the Kattadian authorities for a wide range of criminal activities ranging from money laundering, tax evasion, and embezzlement. Many suspect, though there is no hard evidence, that Jorgan York has deep ties to organized crime, quite possibly the 5 Syndicates. Jorgan created his resort empire from scratch, and being the shrewd businessman that he is, sold one of the resorts to his son as part of diversifying his assets as the investigation was starting in order to prevent his entire resort empire from crumbling to the ground.
Most of Soygun's life has been living on the various resorts that his father either built or bought on the planet of Kattada. He learned business from his father and started using his father's contacts to begin networking when he was just a teenager. He has never known financial hardship, and thanks to his father's quick thinking, he should have the resources to build an empire of his own. But more than that, despite the ongoing investigation into his father's business dealings, the York name is still trusted politically on the planet. As such, he has been asked to fill his father's seat while Jorgan his dealing with his very public business scandals. The political world has always been good to the Yorks, and Soygun saw nothing but positives from accepting the position.
Personality
While Soygun may not have the keen business sense that his father does as it pertains to legitimate business dealings, he more than makes up for it with his suave and gregarious nature. He makes everyone feel at ease and is almost universally liked by associates and acquaintances. Those that know him best, however, know that this outward persona hides the true making of the man. Soygun is an expert at leveraging his relationships to get the most of out others, and because of his social acumen, has been known to manipulate even the wisest and shrewdest of individuals. To date, Soygun has been adept enough to only strongarm those where there was enough leverage to ensure that they would not speak on his underhanded nature. At the end of the day, he is a win-at-all-cost individual who will bury anyone, no matter how close to him, if it helps him get ahead.
Unlike his father who chased money, Soygun is more interested in power. Under his facade of philanthropy and kindness lies a much more sinister individual. He has long been fascinated with the Five Syndicates, not so much that he wants to be a member, but more in how they run their organizations. As such, Soygun has used the threat of violence, blackmail, and withholding of services to get what he wants. He will almost certainly use his position in the Senate for his own nefarious purposes.

As stated, Soygun is a natural socialite. Others put their trust in him easily, and he is quite adept at ensnaring them before they ever knew they were in the web to begin with. Once they are caught, he is a master at squeezing every bit of use out of them before discarding them and their reputations to the side. He is not particularly adept fighting or hand to hand combat, but he does love firearms and has become quite serviceable with his WESTAR-35 blaster pistol. A bit of a daredevil, he loved speeder races, and has been known to enter them from to time. He has never won, but ends with a respectable position and rarely crashes. Soygun loves to travel, and has flown many of the family's fleet of ships.
