ECONOMY

PRIMARY EXPORT(S)
Weapons
Solephus exports small amounts of high quality weaponry such as battle rifles, pistols and starship weaponry, along with the respective ammunition for said weaponry. Due to Solephus isolated state, Solephian weaponry is adapted to accept standard types of ammunition at the cost of some accuracy. Produced on the the main industrial areas of the planet, which consists of the cities of Iaoterra, Gascoria and large production facilities on the planet's countless canyons, the design of Solephian weaponry is a closely guarded secret.
Armor
Due to it's almost perpetual state of warfare Solephus produces expensive sets of armor, both to equip his soldiers and sell to small defense contractors and other paramilitary organizations. The armor is produced in the planet's industrial area and along with the Solephian weaponry, the design of their armor is a closely guarded secret by Solephian Corporations.
Metals
Solephus' vast amounts of raw minerals allows the planet to export large quantities of refined metal, extracted from the plateaus, the canyons and the northern ice cap, and processed in the refineries along the industrial strip of the planet. Solephian metal is used to produce everything from their buildings to the weapons and armor they export. Their powerful refineries allow the planet to export large quantities of durasteel, titanium, quadanium steel, platinumm duralium and lanthanide.
Overall Solephus' economy doesn't rely on exports, seeing as they are fairly isolated from the rest of the galaxy and access to Soliphian products is very limited. Exports make for less than 13% of the planet's income.

IMPORT(S)
Luxury Goods

While Solephus is mostly self sufficient due to it's isolation, they do import some luxury items from other near by star systems. Access to foreign products is seen as very prestigious in Solephian society, seeing as only the wealthiest among the wealthy can buy these expensive products. Foreign vessels, weaponry, droids, jewelry, wines and other types of alcohol, even if common in other parts of the galaxy are very valuable products in Solephus.
Ships
Ship building is something that the Solephians lack. Being locked in internal war the planet never expanded beyond it's star system. Close to 90% of ships in Solephus are imported and most aren't in their top condition. These imported ships are priceless goods for the Solephians and the buying and maintaining of these ships takes a heavy toll on the Solephian economy.
History

The Beginning (aprox. 10000 BBY)

Legend has it that in the beginning of times, Solephus was inhabited by Ice Giants who roamed the planet's great ice cap and who, once a year, came down from their frozen fortresses and devoured the world, turning Solephus into a ball of ice and snow. It is said that during one of the harshest winters the solephians had ever been through, a great rock fell from the sky and inside it was the man the solephians now call, Emperor. According to legend, the Emperor battled the Ice Giants fiercely, driving them back north and sending them into an eternal slumber.
Scientists now believe this folklore is nothing more than primitive humans describing the movement of massive glaciers and herds of wamps southwards with the cold seasons. Due to climate change this glacial drift does not occur in modern Solephus, but the legend is still told to children. As for the big rock solephian scientists believe it was an escape pod or a crashed ship.
Legends aside, when the Emperor arrived he quickly established the city of Oshuna and conquered the lands around it. With time the city state of Oshuna turned into the Empire of Solephus, the largest state in the planet.

The First Civil War (aprox. 9000 BBY)
Seen by some as the beginning of imperial rule over all of Solephus, and by others as the Emperor affirming his divine right to rule, the first civil war is a pivotal point in Solephian history, as it saw a great expansion of imperial territory and had the other states submit to the emperor’s rule. The war lasted for fifty years, ending with the surrender of the city-state of Nautis. A flawed peace treaty was signed by all states and many historians believe that this document (known as the Treaty of Nautis) set the stage for the second civil war.

The Second Civil War (aprox. 8350 BBY)
The Treaty of Nautis forbade internal wars between the several states of Solephus, a condition imposed by the Emperor to keep the peace and protect the weaker states from the ambitious and industrious states of Iaoterra and Gascoria. This condition ultimately led to Iaoterra and Gascoria seceding from the Empire, taking with them several other minor states. The Union of Iaoterra and Gascoria declared war on the Empire only two days after their secession, formally starting the second civil war, which lasted for thirty five years. The war ended in a truce between the Union and the Empire, seeing as the war had come to a stalemate, with neither side making any advances, the two factions met on the Fields of Vah’Li and signed a truce, where the Emperor recognized the sovereignty of the Union and the Union vowed to keep the peace for a thousand years.

The Bith immigration (aprox. 7640 BBY)
Around this time and for unknown reasons, three large Bith ships crashed on the planet, close to what is now the city of Hagantu. Solephians, being isolated from the rest of the galaxy, were very intrigued by the strange vessels. The Union, being wary of outsiders, wanted to exterminate the Bith, but since the ships had landed on imperial territory they had little power over the fate of the Bith. A large imperial committee was prepared to receive the foreigners, talks with the Bith went so well, that when the emperor offered all of the Empire’s resources to help them repair their ships, the bith refused and asked to stay on the planet. And stay they did. The Bith founded the city of Hagantu and provided the Empire with several technological advances.

The Third Civil War (aprox. 7350 BBY)
The Union used, what they called, the Bith invasion as an excuse to declare war on the Empire. Being highly ambitious and envying the Empire’s technological advances, the Union laid a strong ground assault on the Empire’s border but the technologically advanced Imperial troops managed to hold their ground against the aggressors. The third war was a quick war, but it saw the secession of several imperial provinces, who believed they were under a bigger threat by being vassals to the Emperor. The Third civil war lasted for only five years, but it was a devastating war for Solephus, destroying much of the planet’s infrastructure but ultimately leading to millennia of peace, with only minor skirmishes between some of the smaller states of Solephus. The war ended when the Empire forced the Union to sign the Treaty of Hagantu. With the signing of the treaty, the union was dismantled and designated regions of expansion were created for each state.

The Arrival of the Zabrak and the Age of Expansion (aprox. 5000 BBY)
It was around this time that Solephus saw a period of expansion, peace, prosperity and massive growth. The Bith, being well integrated into both Solephian and Galactic society built small starships to explore the vicinity of the Solephian solar system. They came across a small trading caravan and lead them back to Solephus, effectively establishing the first trade agreement between Solephus and other planets.
During the Age of Expansions life in Solephus changed dramatically. Spaceports were built, and huge housing complexes were made to house foreign travellers, as well as warehouses to store their goods, and drydocks to take care of their ships. Solephus left it’s state of complete isolation, for a state of semi-isolation. Some traders knew about the planet, and even some adventurers came to Solephus to seek their fortune, but it wasn’t a name commonly heard on the Outer Rim. During this period several refugee ships arrived to Solephus, in them came thousands of Zabrak, feeling from their home due to some war that was devastating the Galaxy*. After hearing a detailed report on the war from the ships captains, the closed the spaceports down and told the traders to only return when the war was over. But the traders never returned.

The Fourth Civil War or The Unification War (aprox 3000 BBY)
The first and only war started by the Empire, the Unification War began as a coalition war against the growing power of the Confederacy of Solephus, comprised of several states including, Ioaterra, Gascoria, Trahal and Iophus, as the four heads of the Confederacy, the latter had been picking away at Imperial territory for decades now, but the attack on the city state of Pethone was the last straw for the imperials who formed a coalition, and declared war on the Confederacy. The war lasted for a century, coming to an end at the battle of Trahal, where Confederate troops valiantly defended their capital, but were ultimately overwhelmed by Imperial Troops. The war didn’t have a regular piece treaty, but rather an Act of Unification, where all states of Solephus gave up their sovereignty and joined the Empire, and for the first time in seven thousand years, Solephus was unified under one banner.
The Fifth Civil War (aprox 1000 BBY)
Tensions in the Solephian Joint Government had been high due to the disagreement between the Confederates and the Imperial Faction. The former wanted to see Solephus introduced into Galactic society, and the latter wanted the exact opposite. The Emperor had strong reasons for wanting to remain in isolation, knowing about the current war that ravaged the galaxy, he didn't wish to bring his people into it. After several arguments in the Council Chamber, the Confederates decided to abandon the SJG and two days later, the Confederate States of Solephus declared war on the Empire, dragging the planet down into it's fifth civil war. At first, the Imperials had the upper hand in the war, taking city after city, but six months into the war the Confederates began to perform terrorist attacks on Imperial cities, making thousands of civilian casualties and destroying moral within the Imperial Army.
One night, when the Emperor was out helping the civilians who'd been hurt when a bomb went off near the Palace, three Confederate Soldiers took out the Emperor's security detail, and kidnapped his majesty, forcing him to sign a peace treaty under threat of more civilian casualties. The emperor signed, and that morning at 0800 local time, Imperial troops began surrendering to the Confederate soldiers. Due to the nature of the peace treaty a group of Imperial Soldiers refused to surrender to the Confederates, and formed the SIR, Solephian Imperial Resistance. These rebels took control of the Imperial Navy, and where a major headache for the Confederates, destroying military bases from orbit and attacking Confederate troops wherever they found them. This Resistance was short lived however. Two years after it's formation, a major part of their leadership was captured during a raid to the Confederates Headquarters, where the Resistance believed the Emperor was being held captive. They were then executed in a grand public "spectacle", and the lower members of the resistance where pardoned.

[History to expand with the timeline]
Government

Solephian Joint Government
Ruled by a Council of Ministers, presided by the Emperor, the Joint Government is then divided into several Ministries, the most prominent being:
- The Ministry of War

- The Ministry of Internal Affairs
- The Ministry of Education
- The Ministry of Finances
- The Ministry of Agriculture

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- The Ministry of Industry
- The Imperial Secretariat

Factions

The Empire
2000px-Flag_of_Tokyo_Prefecture.svg.png

Government

The Imperial Government is divided into several ministries, with ministers appointed by the Emperor himself. To represent the several states within the Empire, an Assembly was created, where any state could come and propose their bill to the Assembly, where it was voted, with the Emperor having the final word on whether or not a bill was passed.
Military
The Empire possessed fourteen legions, roughly fourteen thousand men, each with their armored battalions and a platoon of atmospheric assault ships. In terms of their navy the Empire possessed one Marauder-Class Frigate, it's capital ship, two Picketing-Class Corvettes and a small assortment of fighters and bombers

The Confederacy
red_alert___allied_flag_by_satyaries87-d8oranx.png

Government
The Confederacy is ruled by a Supreme Council comprised of the rulers of the five major states in the Confederacy, and the General Council, made up of the representatives of every state in the Confederacy.
Military
The Confederacy's military is comprised of twenty Legions, roughly twenty thousand men all with armored divisions and commando squads. The Confederacy possessed no space force.

Culture

In terms of religion, the Solephians aren't very zealous, but they do believe in the Emperor's mystical power, or the Imperial Presence (or what others would call the force), and the Solephians some times entartain themselves and others by making small objects like pebbles or pens levitate for brief moments. They're a very polite people and they love outsiders. They love to know about the galaxy and it's people. Seeing a group of children follow a foreign merchant is a common scene in the spaceports of Solephus.
The Solephians prefer cafes to cantinas, and the two cantinas that do exist struggle to keep their doors open because the Solephians see these establishments as places where only the lowest members of society would go.
They're a peaceful people, specially because of the planet's devastating wars, the general belief among most members of society is that war should be the last resort, never the first.

Force Sensitivity

For the Solephians, the force is the manifestation of a conscious universe. Some religious groups study the force, although they call it "the presence", and learn how to interpret it's signs and how to manipulate it.

The Emperor

The Emperor is an incredibly advanced android, although none of the people in Solephus know about it, his creator, and purpose were lost to history but through his advanced programming he managed to become self aware and he ended up crashing on Solephus, he's been ruling there since time immemorial, watching over his people with a benevolent hand.

Technology

They're at the level of other galactic civilizations in most ares with the notable exception of ship building. These advancements were achieved with the help of the Bith and Zabrakian immigrants.

Major Cities

Oshuna
cross_fate_city_concept_by_adimono-d3rdiy0.jpg

Oshuna, the crown jewel of the empire and one of the oldest settlements in all of Solephus, Oshuna used to be the planet's Capital before the Fifth Civil War and it was the most populated city in the planet. Located at The Giant's Bay, Oshuna is located, like most settlements in Solephus, in the planet's vast grassland regions.

Uonia
sci_fi_city_downtown_by_jadrienc-d5olkce.png

Built by the Empire in order to remove the planet from it's isolated state, Uonia was a city built on the massive canyons left by the movement of the northern ice cap. In modern Solephus the city has grown to such an extent that the canyon has all been covered by the massive towers and landing pads. Center of all Solephian trade with the galaxy, Uonia is a very wealthy settlement, and the envy of the Confederates.

Nautis

futuristic_city_2_by_joakimolofsson-d59agkh.jpg
Another example of Solephus' countless canyon cities, Nautis is built on the more arid region of the planet, and water has to be brought from the northern ice cap in order to provide the city with potable water and to irrigate it's immense gardens.

Trahal

james-paick-sci-fi-city-demo-03-copy.jpg

Capital of the former Confederate States of Solephus (CSS), Trahal was a minor city state up until the Third Civil War, when it began to produce large quantities of weapons and other war related materials to supply both Union and the Empire. Currently Trahal is the third largest city in Solephus and the first when it comes to industrial production.

Aovis

2306-render_1040.jpg
Some call it the pinnacle of Solephian engineering, Aovis was built on an immense lake north of Pethone with the help of some Bith scientists and engineers, it is a popular tourist destination for the Solephians but it's one of the smaller cities in this list. Aovis is also home to the Anual Lake Race, where competitors from all over Solephus come to fight for the title of "Sando of the Lakes".

Basnomia

ylGEeYJ.jpg

One of the oldest cities in Solephus, Basnomia along with it's southern sister Iaoterra was one of the first cities in Solephus to industrialize and as a consequence of it's early industrialization, Basnomia was the leading producer of industrial goods up until the Third Civil War, when it was bombed by the Empire.

Autis

Df5MSIn.jpg
Autis is one of the major agricultural settlements in Solephus, providing around fifteen percent of the planet's consumables. A perfect mixture between growing fields and skyscrapers, Autis is sought by those who enjoy the country life style, with the confronts of the modern world.

Iaotera
coffeepainting__sci_fi_city_by_macrebisz-d5j78y1.jpg

Iaoterra was once a giant of industry, right behind it's northern sister, Basnomia. Built over a canyon, the city has grown so large that it has covered the terrain, making it unrecognizable. Once a powerful city state, the rise of Trahal saw Iaoterra lose most of it's importance in the industrial market, but the city is still thriving, making consumer goods and vehicles.

Pethone

city-of-the-future-hd-wallpaper.jpg
Once an Imperial Vassal, Pethone was always an incredibly rich city, sitting at the center of a trade route that connects all of Solephus. The Governor of Pethone knew how to move his resources in order to make the city prosper, letting merchants from anywhere in Solephus establish Guilds and Trade Houses in his city, Pethone quickly became the Capital of Trade. Currently, the majority of Solephian Companies have their Headquarters in Pethone.

Iophus
2468882c641ada327fa2335444e26726.jpg

An example of Solephian ingenuity, the vertical farms of Iophus are a direct response to a big problem in Solephus, the lack of fertile soil. The majority of the planet is covered in grass, and the soil isn't the most fertile, so Solephian engineers decided to, farm upwards. Using the humid climate of their jungle canyons to build these immense farming complexes, the yield on these farming units is enough to supply the planet's growing population. Overall the population of Iophus is little over ten thousand.

Nophus

49abc39096a6.png
Nophus used to be a small city state, with one major problem. Over population. To fix this problem, architects began building upwards, using a very wide canyon as the basis of their city. Nophus is currently one of the largest cities in Solephus. To some outsiders it could be seen as a smaller, and greener, version of Coruscant.

Gascoria

city_block_by_matlatart-d4mx2fj.jpg
A captain of industry that uses the natural canyons of the planet to extract metals from deep within the crust, Gascoria supplies the majority of the planet's mineral needs.

Hagantu
Fantasy_Metropolis_in_the_future_093776_.jpg
A beautiful city that contrasts with the rest of Solephian architecture, Hagantu was a city founded by the Bith when they arrived in Solephus, the massive metropolis was once the second largest city, but after the Third Civil War, most of the population of Hagantu left for safer settlements. Hagantu is currently a popular tourist destination, and is the home to about seventy percent of the Bith population in Solephus.

Intent

My idea for Solephus is that they're a neutral planet in the edge of the galaxy and they're ruled by a force spirit who doesn't believe in the Jedi or Sith interpretations of the force, and the plan is to have both factions meet on the planet and persuade the emperor into joining them. Possibly even having the Republic send a diplomatic mission to convince the Emperor to join the Republic.
I believe Solephus could be an interesting point of conflict for the factions.

PS: The factions and their military are for lore purposes more than anything else. They are internal factions.

If the planet get's approved, I'll be creating an NPC profile for the Emperor and I'll replace it's description with a link to the profile.

WEAPONS & ARMOR:
-I need someone to do a tech write up, if you're interested please contact me.

Special thanks to @Prudence for helping me with this and letting me use his beautiful template, @Arclight for his advice and @Cinereous for helping me with the fauna. And to Breeso for being so incredibly patient.

I have some critique. It'll take me a bit to write it up and make it cohesive, but i'll get it up here eventually :D

So, let me preface this with two things. One, I like this profile. Not only is it well constructed, it's apparent that you had a vision when writing it and worked very hard to translate that into this writeup, and for that I applaud you. Two, i'm going to go overboard on my critique. A large portion of what i'm about to say doesn't really matter when it comes to getting this planet approved. But, if you want to make the most interesting and cohesive world possible, you'll want to take it all into consideration. With that in mind, i'll start with the larger issues I see and work my way down accordingly.

The Issue of Isolation and Development: Essentially, you've created this weird setup where your planet is both developed, with advanced weaponry and technology as well as being able to export large quantities of refined metal presumably offworld, and isolated with pretty much no starships as well being located far from most other developed worlds to the point where the sector it's in is named for the planet. As it stands, these two ideas are heavily conflicting. Like, the planet has virtually no starships, but can export high amounts of metals offworld when there's essentially no one nearby? People covet offworld technology on a societal level, but most advanced technology seems to be readily available as it is? While these two ideas aren't impossible to merge together, it's very tricky. Take Bakura for example: They where also isolated and technologically advanced. However, they had a lifeline in the form of the Empire and where able to become that way due to their influence. There isn't such influence with this planet, and it just feels like you're trying to have your cake and eat it too.

The Economy of Warfare: You state in the writeup that exports make up a marginal percentage of the total planetary income. That raises the question of where exactly the income is coming from. Your planet is essentially in a state of perpetual war and peace anywhere from a couple of hundred years to several thousand years, and it's implied that there's always at least the threat of war. So, if you're essentially always ramping up for war, where is any income coming from? By all accounts, the planet should be akin to the Cold War era United States, but instead you seem to have a fairly well adjusted and functioning society with, apparently, quite a bit of income from somewhere. And as you've only listed weapons and metal as your products, and the export of metal accounts for only 3%, I just cannot wrap my head around 97% of the planet's income coming from arms manufacturing. If they're just being stockpiled, they aren't being sold, and if they're being sold, they're essentially just giving them to their enemies. And you already stated you only exported a small amount of the weapons.

The Emperor: OK. So this may just be me, but the Emperor wouldn't work at all. Now, hear me out here. Essentially, you're saying the Emperor crash landed here, started the entire colony, died, became a force ghost, and proceeded to rule the planet as a corporeal force ghost for 9000 years? Not only would that make him the single most powerful entity in the galaxy, but he'd have to have been alive prior to the events of the planet's founding to have the training in the force to pull this off. Not even some of the most powerful sith spirits would live that long and retain not only the willpower to keep up their ethereal form, but also maintain the sanity to command an Empire.

That's essentially all the major issues I see. I have some minor points as well:

History: You only mention the Emperor founding a colony, but then say he took over all the other colonies without saying where they came from.

Navy: Wouldn't making starships help the military? I mean, if the enemy doesn't have any starships, and you're dropping MAD DOSH on making weapons and armor already, AND have a ready source of material and labor, wouldn't ships that can rain death from above be somewhat helpful?

Cities: For an isolated world that considers anything found offworld a luxury, those are some damn nice cities.

Force Users
: I highly doubt the admins will approve of everyone on the planet being force sensitive.

I believe that's everything. Like I said at the top, you put a lot of effort into this, and I really like what you're going for. But there's also a lot of room for improvement, and I would love to see this at its full capacity.

Very well. I have several concerns.

1) You'll need to be more descriptive about the metals. Be specific, what kinds of metals.
2) Those weapons and armour will require a tech write-up, as you said that they are unique.
3) The more a world is isolated, the harder it is to keep up technologically with the rest of the Galaxy
4) The whole planet being Force sensitive and being connected to the Emperor won't fly.
5) Regarding the Emperor, I can clearly see the Warhammer 40k resemblance. I suggest writing a different backstory for him.

That is all so far, looking forward to the changes as I like the planet overall.

Okay the tech thing I was expecting, I had a back up for point 4 and could you develop on point 5? I have heard of Warhammer because of the total war games but I have no idea what you're talking about. :D

Warhammer 40k has a faction of the Imperium of Man, which is very isolationist and xenophobic. In its lead is the God-Emperor of Mankind, a divine spirit trapped in a set of armour (or something similiar) for thousands of years. The resemblence is far too similiar, and it does not fit the Star Wars, as a spirit like that would be the most powerful entity in the Galaxy - more than any Jedi or Sith.

I see what you're saying. My inspiration was something like in LOTR you have the god like guy and then you have Gandalf who is an angel but he isn't all powerful. I'll just make him an android but he'll have a human appearance so that no one can see that he's just a droid.
