Jedi Temple, Ajan Kloss
It had been months since Kalam had arrived on the Jedi world of Ajan Kloss, but he was yet to find the sense of belonging almost everyone else here seemed to posses. Maybe it was the fact that the very existence of other worlds was so new to him, ignoring altogether how surreal it felt that he was actually on a world not his own. Time, one of the Master who had helped him with his katas had told him a few days earlier, would help put him at ease. He just couldn't help but wonder how much time it would take on its own, so he was going to put in more effort on his part.

So after he had finished his day's routine he had run off to take a quick shower, grab a bite, and make his way to one of the courtyards, where he was told a gathering might be happening later in the day. Ajan Kloss had something of a pest problem, and every now and then padawans and young knights were sent out to clear out the forest surrounding the Temple so that the younglings were not at risk. He wasn't sure what the pests were, but he did know that it was supposed to be as much a test as a chore, for the Jedi were not allowed to kill the wildlife under any circumstances.

If he wasn't mistaken the gathering was a briefing of sorts, to prepare everyone before they headed out, while also giving them an opportunity to get to know each other before facing the trials that waited them. He wasn't even sure he would be allowed to go out on the hunt, but he had been told everyone was welcome to the gathering. There are no limitations to camaraderie, the Jedi Master had said. He was still having trouble keeping track of names, Ted Morning or something they were called.

But here he was, walking into the courtyard, already a handful of Jedi present there before him. He paused for a moment to take it all in, an old habit he had picked up on the battlefield, always know your surroundings. Pushing away those thoughts, he let out a breath and moved towards them.

"Smile and introduce yourself," he said to himself as he moved, "that's all there is to it."

Crunch... the sound of a local fruit being bit into fill Sovem's ears. He looked down at the colorful produce and smiled. He had spent a good chunk of his life on this planet and still didn't know the name of these delicious morsels. They served them in the temple cafe, though Sovem would sneak a few more away when no one was looking; old habits died harder than expected it seemed. He was pretty sure the servers knew he took them, but they were too delicious to pass up.

His hazel eyes scanned the training yards. Younglings, Padawans, Knights, and even Masters scattered the serene, duracrete landscape. Lightsabers of all colors and sizes flashed and hummed as training took place at all levels. Sevom smiled, remembering his first time holding anything other than a shiv in the alleys of Iziz back on Onderon. He had never used it, of course, but he had it to make himself look tough. At least as tough as one could be. His free right hand wandered mindlessly to the hilt of the vibrosword strapped to his back. If only I'd known back then.

The time had come, Sevom soon realized as he broke from his snack induced thoughts. He tossed the fruit away, guiding it with the Force to land in the bushes just beyond one of the training pads where the local animals herbivores and omnivores could eat it. He stood up, brushing the dust from his maroon Jedi robes and white trousers. With a quick hop, Sevom was on the ground level and jogging toward the meeting area. His auburn pony tail and bangs bounced with every click of his maroon boots touching duracrete. When he reached the specific courtyard in question, he slowed to a walk, his hazel eyes scanning the faces to see who was here and who wasn't; it didn't look like he knew anyone.

When he was noticed, one of the knights asked who Sevom was. Sevom bowed respectfully, "I'm Padawan Sevom. I'm here for the briefing." The knight nodded and went back to talking to his peers. Sevom turned away from the night, his eyes widening naturally from being semi-uncomfortable around people he didn't know.

Tava was still new to all this, still in the process of integrating with life as a Jedi. She held the rank of ‘padawan’, which was actually a step back from the heights she had reached amidst her own people. The thought didn’t bother her, though she did get more than her fair share of quirked eyebrows at her choice to forgo the use of lightsabers. Was it impossible to be a Jedi if she only commanded the Force and didn’t bother with the quintessential weapons?

She knew others underestimated her for her choices, but she preferred it that way. Tava wasn’t exactly the warmest of people, coming across a bit rough around the edges in terms of how she socialized. She was known for being rather blunt and stubborn - which of course meant that no one had wanted to take her on as a padawan just yet.

That didn’t make her any less eager to join in on a mission as soon as she heard of one. She was a bit later than the others, scrambling to catch up as she shoved through the crowd towards where the Duros master was speaking.

He had just finished giving the briefing, naming the village and the job in question and she missed all of it. He had also mentioned that there had been a change of plans, and they would need to start moving at once. Tava looked around and shuffled uncomfortably, “I’m prepared,” She announced boldly, getting a few confused glances her way, “Please lead the way.”

Tedimor smiled at her, “You and the other padawans must let the Force guide you,” He stepped back, gesturing the way towards the swamps behind him. The village in question was deep and thick inside, and of course Tava had missed the brief and directions entirely.

“G-Great,” She said quietly, looking over at her fellow padawans that hopefully had more of a clue, “Onward then!” Tava said louder as she began to walk as if she had any kind of inkling of where she was going.

“Master, perhaps I... “

Tedimor ‘s eyes grew to their full size and turned on Numa with a coy little smile tucked beneath them. The implication was not missed. “Yes padawan? “ The master cooed.

“...perhaps... I should not shy away from that which is uncomfortable if I wish to grow.” She recited mechanically in response.

Master was of course right. Numa was 25, and had remained a Padawan for nearly 8 years, which was entirely the result of her inability to trust: herself or others. She could sense the curiosity and ambition of her younger counterparts as they scattered into the jungle. It was tempting. Numa was very wary of tempting. She felt Master Har’s hand on her shoulder, and nodded.

“Wait!” Numa yelped, her bare theelin hooves made short work of the head start she had allowed them, and in a few moments planted her lanky form among her human peers. With weighty sigh, she pulled down her hood, and thick violet hair fanned out in all directions. Summoning all her will she extended her hand and wrist to any who would take it. Her voice was mature by comparison, but tense and stilted; and her eyebrow were pinned nervously up, as though she had only just learned other Jedi existed.

“I am Numa... aaaaand .... I am meant to join you, if you are willing.”

Kriff. She wished her droid was here.

When Ezekiel saw that they were going into a swamp for that day's training, the young man hesitated for a moment. Swamps weren't common on his homeworld and he had always been raised to keep his hygiene as best as he could. The key to a healthy mind was a healthy body, or so his parents had always said. He gulped, steeling himself as he realized that this was such a silly thing to have a hangup over. If he got dirty, he could always just clean up afterwards. They had a job to do, some creatures out there potentially a threat to innocents. How would anyone in trouble feel if one of their supposed protectors was taking his time because he didn't want to get dirty?

The Cather's reticence had caused him to miss the briefing as well, the young man blinking as he joined the other Padawans. He looked around, wondering if any of them knew what they were doing, and with how the Jedi Master was acting he felt that asking more questions wasn't the right thing to do at the moment. So, he would stick with a person or some people that seemed to know what they were doing. There was a seemingly human young woman who was moving a head of them all, she seemed to be that person that knew what she was doing. He went up to stand by her, walking with her if she started to move on. "Hello! I don't think we've met before. My name is Ezekiel. Have you been on this kind of mission before?" Inwardly he was screaming that he was making a complete ass of himself, yet he felt like this was the only option available. He hoped he wasn't shooting himself in the foot at making some friends for the first time.

There was something to be said about a jungle that touched to the heart of any Ithorian worth their salt. Especially one like Moza who lived within the atmosphere above Ithor, and was taught a great reverence for the sanctity of the jungle. While this was not Mother Jungle, the vibrancy of life still spoke to the soul of the Ithorian more than most could likely understand. That spark lifted Moza's mood on most days, and on this particular one it carried the towering padawan on as he made his way to the courtyard. His slow, ponderous gait was quite the normal sight for those who had been at the temple for a time. After all he had spent the past few years on Ajan Kloss in training, and was just as common a sight as any other padawan would have been.

Moza was not the first to the courtyard to be briefed on the mission, but he by far was not the last. Which for the big guy was saying something. Still it seemed he had missed most of the briefing, only catching that their task was the removal of some of the native fauna. As Maser Tedimor urged them on Moza gave a nod and started out with the rest. It seemed that some of the other padawans were introducing themselves as they began their trek through the jungle. So when it came time for him to speak Moza all to happily did so as well. <<Greetings, I'm Padawan Moza Aban. I look forward to working with you all.>> Moza spoke, the stereophonic sound echoing from his twin mouths simultaneously as he spoke in Ithorese. While Moza did have a translator loaded in his pack, the Ithorian padawan preferred not to wear it if he could manage. The device had always felt clunky to him, and the sound was a robotic translation instead of (at least in his mind) the beautiful tones of the Ithorian native language. Besides, this little moment would tell him if any of his fellows happened to understand him. Something the plodding Ithorian was most keen on finding out as it meant less time strapped up to that pesky vocoder.

Kal was every bit as confused as Tava had been, how had he managed to walk into an actual mission? He was trying to figure out how to explain to someone that there must have been some misunderstanding, but the next thing he knew he was being herded along with a bunch of other padawans. "On..ward!?" He mumbled as he followed after the girl, trying to wonder if he had time to rush back and at least pick up his staff. But it was too late, he was already stepping into the swamp, wondering why he bothered to take a bath if he was going to end up covered in mud soon enough.

As they began walking, there was a shout from behind them as another Jedi ran up to join their expedition. Kal turned around as he was just about to speak about his lack of any sort of weaponry, but having never really experienced an actual swamp before, he made the mistake of not being careful with his footing and slipped and fell face-first into the mud lining either side of the trail they had been walking down.

He wanted to just lie there, to not have to show his face to anyone ever again after that brilliant first impression, but sensible parts of his brain prevailed and he slowly got back to his feet.

"Be careful everyone," he said as he tried to wipe the mud off his face, "the way is slippery." He would find everyone staring at him, as unknown to him and hidden by the pain of smacking his entire body down onto the ground, a giant leech was not stuck to his forehead.

"Yeah, yeah, I got mud on my face. Can we just move on please?" He said in response to any looks he might get from those who noticed the leech, and would attempt to begin walking once more, marching ahead in oblivion unless one of the others happened to point the leech out to him.

Sovem scanned the other padawans. An unarmed girl seemed to be itching to go, and the others were loosely following her. He kept quiet and followed suit. His pace had him catching up to and keeping pace with the human girl. Strange that she doesn't carry a... his thoughts were interupted by a splat! Sovem turned slightly to see Kalam face planted in the mud. Sovem stopped with a soft smile. "You might have missed your calling as a mud swimmer," he said.

The smile turned to an expression of mild concern when the boy got up with a giant leech on his face. Sovem pointed to his own face, unsure of how exactly to word it. "You... uh... you've got something there."

If this planet wasn't home to the Jedi it would be a miserable place, indeed. They were knee deep in mud and searching the swamp for some sort of village, and none of them seemed to have any idea what they were actually searching for the village for. Sovem chided himself in his own mind for not paying more attention. He was just as lost as they were. At least the adventure would be entertaining, to say the least.

Sovem decided to speak up, his street urchin sarcasm and humor making up for what could be considered a dreadful situation. "So does anyone actually know what we're doing?" He turned his gaze to Tava, hoping she had the slightest clue; she being the one leading the pack so far.

OoC: Dice roll 3 out of 10...

Tava awkwardly began to notice that others began to follow her ‘lead’ even though she had no clue where she was going. She quickly fished out a datapad and looked down intently at it, staring at a blank screen and pretending it had a map. Maybe if she looked convincing, no one would question her.

One by one they began to introduce themselves, and she looked at them dumbly for a moment, forgetting her panic for a bit, “I’m Tava,” She glanced over at the theelin for a moment, her eyebrows raising, “Aren’t you a little old to be a pa-” She stopped herself at once, clearing her throat. At 18, Tava wasn’t the youngest padawan either. In fact...looking around, most of them looked to be in their twenties.

“...Are we the Jedi super seniors or something?” She said with dismay, wondering if they were being put on a remedial type of mission. This was made apparent especially by none of them having any real idea of where they were going.

One of them only added to the fact by promptly dropping into the mud. He quickly peeled himself off the ground, but had a huge leech on him. Tava grimaced at him, the others polite and not wanting to outwardly say much.

“Eww!” She screeched as she used the Force in an attempt to pull it. Of course, she managed to coil the Force around his entire head and tug him forward, accidentally making him faceplant the mud all over again. Her eyes widened and she gasped in surprise.

“I’m so sorry!” Tava rushed forth to help him, going past Sovem and accidentally slipping. As a result, she made him topple as well, both of them dropping atop Kalam’s facedown prone position in the mud, making him sink further into the swamp.

After a bit of a struggle, she finally managed to get up, offering a hand to Sovem to help him off Kalem. She tried to avoid eye contact with the other padawans that were no doubt staring wide-eyed. Tava cleared her throat and wiped mud off her switched off datapad, “Yes um, it’s that way,” She pointed unconvincingly deeper into the swamp.

Hand extended, she stared blankly at the Ithorian without a translator. Its sounded lovely, but meant nothing to her sadly pedestrian ears. She had dabbled in a few languages, but the grandmaster was the only Ithorian she knew that hadn’t carried a translator, and he communicated in other ways. Still, Numa could sense his desire to be heard, and it touched her in a small way to imagine how foreign he must feel, trapped behind a machine to be heard...

All she could do was offer a polite shrug. He and the Cathar seemed like the most lost among them, and the mission right now seemed to require the blind confidence of the others.

Numa balked as the only one to take her hand was the first to remark on her ... level of experience. She felt exposed, but the others seemed barely able to pay attention to their own feet, let alone her seniority. Besides the mildly stung pride, Tava was at least being blunt, a trait Numa begrudgingly admired. Honesty, however cruel, kept the mind clearer, and helped Numa stay at ea-

*splat*

A thick clot of mud pasted Numa’s hair to the side of her head.

“UGH! If anything I am beginning to think this may be the remedial group.” She moaned, picking free a particularly well formed mossy ball of dirt. Upon recovering, her jaw dropped. Both Kalam AND Tava had a chubby leach dangling from some part of their heads. Numa caught her arm, as Tava attempted to blaze a trail, and slowly slid her hand up the girl’s shoulder. With the same tender pace, as if taming them, she raised her other hand towards Kalam.

“Be still.”

Her voice seemed to have acquired a gentle echo, and her breath moved in and out smoothly through her nose. A soft tide of calm moved out from her as she carefully wrapped her fingers around the leech on Kalam’s forehead, and the other on Tava’s neck. It became clear she was no longer speaking to the other padawans.

“This is not the place for you, little ones....”
(Dice roll -8)

With a tiny gush of spilt blood, both of the engorged parasites, fell into Numa’s hand and curled up like kittens. She smiled, and very quickly set them back down in the murky pool from whence they came.

Numa’s tenderness vanished the moment her attention returned to her supposed peers.

“Shall we perhaps just stick to the trail for now?“
And with a broad sweep of her arm, Numa cleared some brush to reveal the narrow footpath used annually for clearing out the local pests.

Ez's first instinct was to dodge out of the way of the mud splattered by the fallen Padawan, though again he kicked himself for seeming so vain or selfish. Before he could move to help them up, however, a couple of the others had moved to do so instead, with varying degrees of success. Watching the one young lady get the leeches to drop of their own accord instead of harming them was fascinating, the Cathar learning from even the smallest of acts. It just highlighted again how much he still had to grow. It still made him smile to see.

When the path was revealed, he looked down the trail to see if he could notice anything. Something DID catch his eye, which he moved onto the swampy path to investigate. It looked like some kind of tracks, though of what creature he didn't know. His gut told him that this was what they were supposed to be going after, though, and he'd learned to trust these instincts ever since he had arrived on the planet to start his training. "Look, some tracks, and they seem fresh. I think we should follow them. I don't recognize what they're the tracks OF, though. Anyone have any ideas?" For being somewhat proud of his academic prowess, it sure seemed to be failing him at the moment.

Moza was admittedly amused by the subsequent events as they would transpire, though he had the good sense not to express it. If anything this spoke more readily to the Ithorian's slightly slower pace. When you rush in the jungle, there is all manner of things you miss, like one's footing. The moment Kalam went down the towering Ithorian moved forward to try and help him up. But it seemed that the human was quicker on the uptake and managed to work himself to his feet. It was at that point that Sovem made his little remark and Moza decided to turn his jest on him. With his yellow eyes set on his fellow padawan he spoke, <<Is there something wrong with swimming in mud? As a pupa it was a great delight of mine and my siblings.>> He offered, almost in admonition though the feel of his words didn't reflect that emotion. Instead he gave a teasing wink to Sovem and returned his focus to Kalam to make sure he was alright.

It was about then that things escalated, first with Sovem pointing out the leech on Kalam, then Tava's overreaction, and from that the three of them would once again go back in the mud. Unfortunately for Kalam he seemed to have gotten the worst of it, but that wasn't what concerned Moza at this point. No, had he maybe have been a little quicker in saying something the Ithorian would have cautioned against pulling or squeezing the leech. The last thing anyone would want is to cause the little thing to regurgitate any of the blood it consumed back into the blood stream. Especially since that increased the chances of any bacteria in the leeches digestive system flowing back into Kalam's body with the blood. <<This isn't good.>> Moza chided as the three slowly clamored to their feet once more. <<You need to be gentle when removing leeches.>> he continued in Ithorese, the stereo sound of his voice falling from his mouths carried a calm quality to it.

Had he not seen Numa's confusion to his speaking earlier the Ithorian padawan would have assumed she had understood him. For she took charge of the moment to keep Tava from leaving with her own passenger, and through an impressive display she got the little hitchhikers to release their grips. She continued to impress though as she revealed the path that they seemed almost determined to miss had they not taken a moment to stop and deal with this problem. It was enough for Moza to give an appreciative nod towards the Theelin, <<That was truly impressive, and thank you for not harming the little ones.>> He offered to her warmly before stepping up himself to Kalam and Tava. <<But before we continue we should deal with these wounds. Untreated they will bleed for hours at least.>> After saying that piece he turned to the other two and looked down at them. In that moment he truly hoped that at least someone in this band understood him. Not because it would be in inconvenience to fetch his translator from his pack, but because otherwise what he was about to do might make Kalam and Tava feel uncomfortable.

<<Gather close, I need to concentrate.>> Moza offered warmly, the lovely sound of his native tongue hopefully conveyed his soothing tone properly. Then closing his yellow eyes the Ithorian Padawan would reach out to the other two through the force. His palms set mere inches from the two's skin. With one hand at Kalam's forehead and the other at Tava's neck; so close in fact that the heat of his own body could be felt in place of skin contact. All the while Moza called on the living force, picturing in his mind the pair as they were before the bites. Imagining them whole once more, and willing the force to act on this vision using himself as a conduit for it's power. It was a good thing Moza was adept at Force Healing, for before their eyes the other padawans would be able to watch the two bleeding wounds start to slow and close (OOC Dice roll 8 out of 10). As he felt Tava's wound heal faster he withdrew his hand, and with his eyes still closed he focused his attention on Kalam. To the human he focused a little more, willing his own antibodies to act, trying to strengthen his immune system in case any bacteria entered his system. He would likely need a check up when they got back to be safe, but this would help in the mean time.

Once he was satisfied Moza withdrew and let out a heavy sigh as his eyes opened. The focused healing, might have been a specialty, but it still took a lot out of him to do two people at once. Still he tried to play it off as best as he could, offering a thumbs up to the group and saying <<Alright, we should be alright to continue.>> while sounding a little more winded than his usual tone.

"Huh?" That was all that Kal was able to get out in response to Sovem when he suddenly felt a tug on his his head and found himself going back down the way he had just come up. For a brief moment his mind was filled with the realization that this might be the first time he was experiencing the Force actually being used on him, the moment quickly washed away by a mouthful of mud as he splattered down face first once more.

He just let himself lie there for a moment, wondering what god he had angered that day for things to be turning out like this. Which turned out to be a mistake because he lost the few moments he might have had to free himself. That very moment Taya fell on him and even as he was trying to rise he went back in. He swallowed some mud, and was swatting away on the mud as he reached for a breath. Thankfully Taya was quick to get up, and he was able to shove his face out of the mud with a huge gasp.

The next few moments were a daze, him trying to catch his breath, someone finding a trail, and a sudden pain on his head as the leech was finally pulled free by some kind soul. He was trying to figure out what to say when his attention was drawn by a rustle to one side, turning to see a creature emerge from the foliage. Before he could warn the others two more joined it. "We have company." He called out as he started looking for some sort of weapon to defend himself. He didn't even wait to consider if they were actually a threat, the way the day was going so far, he just assumed they were.

Picking up a stick from the ground, something which seemed like a decent approximation of the staff he had been practicing with lately, he charged straight at the nearest critter and with the stick held in both hands he went for a jab straight at its jaw. But he made a few miscalculations with his attack. First, the stick was a lot more rotten than he had thought, lying around in the humid swamp had done it no favors. And second, and more importantly, the critter's hide was pretty strong. So strong that the stick simply bent from his jab, stuck between the critter and his forward momentum, and snapped. He almost saw it in slow motion, the stick buckling upwards, then begining to tear, and finally snapping in to. But that was not the worst of it, the half still in his hand swung with the backlash of the break and flew straight into his face.

He saw stars as he fell into the mud once more, only this time landing on his back. But his face still felt wet, only this time it wasn't mud that was responsible. It was the river of blood flowing out of his broken nose. He just lay there, the breath knocked out of him, what little was left of his dignity now lost, and seemingly all the blood in his body just shooting out of his broken nose. He had really pissed off someone today, hadn't he?

Sovem had to keep from bursting out in laughter when Tava used the Force and ended up pulling Kalam into the mud again. Unfortunately, the Force was a believer in karma it seemed, and Sovem went down into the mud on top of Kalam when Tava slipped. The help up was much appreciated right after, but it produced an almost tired sigh out of Sovem as he tried brushing off some of the more egregious mud clots on his robes. He was going to make a sarcastic comment to her when Numa took matters into her own hands to take care of the leeches.

Then the trail was found, and healing administered to Tava and Kalam. For an adventure that had only begun, so much had already happened. Then the three creatures appeared and Kalam mentioned company. Sovem turned to face the direction Kalam was facing. Slowly, as if there were any other way to navigate through a mud puddle, Sovem started making his way toward the dryer land where he would be able to move and control himself.

When Kalam charged, Sovem wanted to tell him to wait but was too late. Kalam connected with the creature with is stick and had effectively broken his own nose. Sovem stepped up onto the dryer land and breathed a heavy sigh of relief. At least now he'd be able to move. The three creatures made what could only be considered a threatening roar by their species' standards. Sovem instinctively reached for his vibrosword but stopped, hand over his shoulder about to grasp the hilt.

"Hey, think you can sooth these things like you did the leeches?" He asked without looking back at Numa. Wait, we have the Force... Sovem dropped his hand so that it was forward of his chest, bringing his other hand closer to it. He reached out with the Force coiling it around the three creatures. Slowly, as sweat and mud dripped from the bangs that covered most of his face, he tightened the coils. He began to lift his hands, trying to lift the creatures. One immediately broke out and began charging the Padawan. The other two lifted off the ground and flailed in the air, which would make them easier to deal with. Sovem felt his concentration fading just as fast as the third creature was charging though, so the lift wouldn't hold for long.

Tava was grumpy at the turn of events. Her pride was wounded by needing not only Numa’s help, but also of the Ithorian that promptly healed her. She still had a slight bit of stubbornness and aggression that needed to be smoothed out. However, she was grateful nonetheless, offering them both a smile for their help. As much as her ego got in the way, she couldn’t deny the warm nature of the other padawans and how that made her feel like she was a part of something bigger.

She was soon distracted by the creatures that came out abruptly. This was no doubt from all the noises they were making. Tava knew she had to make up for her earlier fails, and she quickly moved into the fray. Kal failed in his attempts, but Sovem quickly got to work trying to lift them up.

Tava knew he was taxing himself, and she quickly got to work to help. As one of the karstag began to charge, Tava coiled the Force around it. As someone that never relied on weapons and having practiced the Force her entire life, she was quite adept with it.

With the Force firmly taking a hold of the charging beasts, she flung it to the side. She followed suit of the others, not intending to kill. The creature slammed into a nearby tree with enough force to knock it out and daze it, but not harm it beyond that. However, this still left the others to contend with...

Everything was moving fast, and people were already going down before Numa had a chance to get her bearings. Thanks be that Tava had the presence to knock one down, and Numa let her know it with a half nod while bounding past to offer what help she could with the other two.

Her long legs took carried her to Kalam’s side, where she squared off against the aggravated beast he had made a fool of himself assaulting. Even though it’s claws were air raking the air beneath it, the threat was still high: jaws snapping, and spiked tail thrashing back and forth. To have another padawan make requests of her under duress left a bad taste in her mouth, and served only as reminder of her age. However, if this was going to be solved without a lightsaber, there weren’t many other options, and these poor animals deserved better than a pelting with rotten wood.

Numa approached slowly with arms wide, and after dodging a nasty snap, she managed to get a hand on either side of its head, and began whispering softly. Her own genuine hope for its well became manifest, and pooled in her palms. She delivered the balm into the creature’s mind as carefully as she could given the urgency. Sure enough, it began to flail less and less, until it finally began to whimper and nuzzle its snout into her palm. As soon as it was released to the ground, it would turn and flee as quickly as able.

Numa was satisfied with her work, enough so to let her guard down. As she turned to check on Kalam and the Ithorian, the third creatures’ tale caught her full force in the gut, sending her flying towards Tava.

All Ezekiel could do was blink as everything seemed to happen all at once. He had turned to look at his fellow Padawans from his place looking over the strange tracks when he saw the three creatures charge from the brush towards the others. On one hand, he wasn't in as much danger, yet while on the other his hopeful friends were in that much MORE danger. It was really starting to disgust him how...selfish, he was thinking. He wanted to be a good person, to act for others because it was the right thing to do, yet in times of actual stress or his own anxiety his mind was trying to preserve only himself. Shaking his head and slapping himself, Ez leapt into action to try to stop the last of the three creatures still conscious.

The Cathar's mind went to where it usually went to solve a problem: his academic studies. Recalling old lessons in the creatures of the galaxy, he thought of ones that looked similar to what he was encountering here. Specifically, he was trying to remember anything that could be useful in incapacitating them. There was a point right under where the neck met with the first armored plates on the back that was sensitive, capable of knocking it out with a hard enough strike. Said head was writhing around as it tried to free itself from being held in the air, though Ez could see his companion weakening his hold over it. He had to act quick.

First, to make the head stay still. Forgetting he could use the Force himself, Ezekiel tried to grab it by hand just to get bitten fairly deep. By the FORCE, that hurt more than anything he'd felt before. The young man cried out, almost about to pull away when he saw that the head was now stuck in place to bite him. Grimacing through the pain, he reached with his other hand over to the spot he remembered and gave a sharp enough strike to make the creature go limp. It let go of his hand, a fair amount of blood flowing from the deep bite, and he backed up a few steps to safety. That was when he realized about the other tools at his disposal. "Well...I think I did things the hard way..."

Moza watched the rather haphazard way in which everyone dealt with the creatures. Kalam, so quick to action so as to right his pride, only seemed to aggravate the karstags. Sovem in kind acted to neutralize the karstags, though in a way that given time might have calmed them down. Tava took the charging and hurled it into the tree to stun it, and Ezekiel struck at it after approaching it in a vastly inappropriate way for it's situation. In the eyes of the Ithorian, only Numa managed to coax the beast down in the best manner. Drawing on the force to each out to the creature, and in kind calm it once more. When tuned in with nature it was possible, and though pain was a teacher to draw the beasties away. This manner, which was possible for Jedi, seemed the most harmonious with nature in Moza's mind.

Seeing them all dispatched in one manner or another though meant no karstag for Moza to tend to. So once more he made his way to Kalam and knelt down by the other padawan's side in the mud.

<<Today just isn't your day is it?>> Moza inquired in his native tongue mere moments before reaching down to help lift Kalam up to a seated position. The larger Ithorian taking the human's hand in his own and leading it up to Kalam's nose gently. All the while steadying the padawan so he wouldn't slump back down.

<<Alright now pinch down to stop the bleeding. Feel free to spit out any blood in your mouth by the way. Also, can you tell me who sent us on this assignment? We need to see if you're concussed.>> Moza began trying to help out the other padawan, his attention drifting from him to his comrades to see how they were doing.
