SNATCHERS

After their split from the Empire, many Sith Champions chose not to follow their newly proclaimed Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Tempest, and declared themselves independents. Ofcourse the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) still kept track of these former Sith and Commander Karn has lately been paying close attention to one file in particular as well. As it happens one of these independents had been spotted entering Corellian airspace.

Name: Carth Monn
Imperial File Summary: Human, native to Corellia, joined the Sith Order at age eight (8). Allegiance file shows he relinquished his lightsaber and chose not to follow Darth Tempest in exile. Poses no expected threat to the Empire.

Nevertheless, Commander Karn had arrived on Corellia and requested extraordinary back-up through the Troig Eccle'baal. He had chosen not to take any Imperial Peacekeepers with him and he himself was not wearing the signature armor of his faction and rank. Instead he was simply known as the 'Commander' and wore simple clothes that allowed him to blend in with the Corellian locals. His back-up was supposed to meet him in the spaceport cantina near Hangar 13.

Here Levik waited for two men. Terland Skirata and Khalid Din. Both men were noted bounty hunters and skilled in intelligence gathering and the more subtle approach of mercenary work. This was important, because their target wasn't just some syndicate scoundrel. Levik mused on the options and the contract as he waited, a glass of cognac warming in his left hand as he kept his eye on the sliding doors through which the two men would enter.

It had been a long time since he had worked inside Empire space, always preferring to do jobs in places that were a bit more...lax in nature, but when an employer of his offered him a chance to work under empire space the Tiefling couldn't refuse, not when the pay looked to be good enough, and not when it seemed to be a mostly reasonable bounty they were talking about, nothing that should get his brother into too much trouble, all under the radar. Never missed a chance to get his name known around certain circles, so he needed to prove himself capable.

Khalid walked inside the cantina, taking off his hat and revealing his horns. Thankfully, to most people in the galaxy, he looked just like any other Tiefling, not giving "princely" vibes with the poncho and cowboy hat he liked wearing from time to time, owning that farm boy look he had had for most of his life.

Khalid grabbed a cigarette a couple cigarettes out of his pack, offering one to Levik before lighting himself the other while they waited for their other contact to arrive "So, other partner droppin' by soon, I presume?" Khalid would ask the man he only knew as "commander", looked like the stick in the mud, by the book kind of guy, so he did wonder why he asked them for help out of everyone...Questions would have to wait though, at least until the other bounty hunter showed up.

Mission: Capture or Destruction
Target: Carth Monn, Corellian, Renegade Sith
Pay: Good
Accepted, Initiated

Telrand Skitara's TIE Hunter swooped low to the hangars below him, the S foil wings folding in as he began his landing sequence. Hangar 12, close by to the location designated as the meet-up point. It was a secure enough location though it was a bit open for Telrand's liking. That just meant he had to bring something to defend himself. Two ODS Mauler pistols and two glow stunsticks, along with various throwing and combat knives, were what he decided to bring to this meeting. The rest of his equipment he locked up inside of his ship, safe and sound. And with his scatterweave shoulder cape and a recording device, he left for the meeting point.

He was in the canteena an hour before the Commander and the other contact would be there, taking a seat so he could keep his gaze aimed at the door. Telrand had tried to pick up any other information from those around him on any good jobs, but none of that was very useful. After a non eventful wait where he noted every and any enterance and exit and place to hide and go to cover he saw the Commander enter first. Then he saw a Tiefling he knew instantly sit at the table with the Commander. Good, he had already bugged that one before they entered. After he made sure they were staying there, the lithe Mandalorian stood up and made his way over. His footsteps were slow and soft yet the chimes of his boots were heard all around.

"So you are the Commander." His voice was cold and soft, yet filled with a level of emotion much more subtle than most beings. "And you are one of the Dins. A pleasure. Now, let's go buisness, shall we? Job details first, payment soon after." He gave a not when addressing the Tiefling before returning to a neutral position. His posture was straight and formal, his gaze obviously analyzing every inch of the other twos' faces. He was ready for anything from a straight setup to a smooth ride. And while he hoped for the latter, the former would give him a nice test of his skills.

Eccle'baal had arranged for two entirely different types of the same flavor merc. Levik caught himself having some worry over involving a Din in this job now. He hadn't thought of it much, since the chances of a merc with a common last name would be family of the Empire's lieutenant-general were slim at best. Unfortunately, hearing the Mandalorian and seeing the Tiefling it all made a bit too much sense.

Despite the sudden worry, Levik accepted the cigarette and motioned for both Khalid and Telrand to sit down in his booth. "Let's not say those words out loud while wearing armor like that," the Commander warned the Mandalorian, who was apparently one of those fanatics that 'Followed the Way'. Last thing they needed was all of Corellia knowing that a Mandalorian and lieutenant-general Din's kin were running around Corellia with someone. How long would it take for the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) to realize that Levik was moonlighting?

Levik waited for them to sit down and made sure to drop his voice slightly so no one outside the booth could overhear, "target is a former Sith. I need him alive. You'll get your pay -including hazard- when the job's done." Usually only mercenaries that had proved their worth to the relevant parties would get paid up front. Besides, when facing a Force user you were never sure the entire party would survive the encounter. Paying up front was therefore a fool's game.

The Mandalorian leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms, his eyes below his helmets making small micromovements that would signify that he was making calculations. But calculations on what? His next words. The Sith would most likely have the key possession on him, an item the Jedi and Sith both held onto like the Mandalorians and their Beskar. Their lightsaber. And he wanted it.

"If the Sith has it on their possession, or at least in their hide out," the Mandalorian began, his tone simple and plain and matter-of-fact, "you may keep the credits. What I want is their saber. It is a honorable sign in my culture, to have bested a force user. And those who do keep the saber. That shall be my share." He slowly leaned forward as he spoke, his voice low enough so only the other two would hear him. His hand softly tapped the table during his last sentence to show the true prize.

This potentially rogue Commander had decided that this would be a mission for the pair of mercenaries, and at least for Telrand he would indeed be up for the challenge. He had brought plenty of capture equipment. Weapons with stun, goop grenades, and plenty of thrown knives to tire out the Sith with constant movement. But for now he would keep that information to himself and simply listen to what the others would say. His recorder would still be on, keeping this data for future use.

After sitting down and letting Telrand introduce himself, the Tiefling's eyes darted to the very armed man as he said "Din" out loud, Shaking his head as the Commander had to tell him to be more careful about the words he said, even if no one would be able to recognize him normally, the moment someone pointed out that he was Din everyone else would see it. But Khalid guessed Mandalorians were not known for being inconspicuous.

The Tiefling cowboy simply nodded his head slightly as Levik talked about his target: A sith. Well, many people were scared of sith, but not Khalid, he knew how the force worked, like with everything else, you just needed a decent plan and matching weapons to deal with it, and Khalid had both his Matukai gauntlets and his blaster at his disposition...They just had to plan it smart.

"Alive, gotcha." Khalid would simply whisper, taking a long drag out his cigarette as he listened about how the Mandalorian wanted the sith's lightsaber...He understood that lightsabers were kinda cool and also the concept of trophies, but Khalid was still a bit amused by him rejecting his pay so he could get the lightsaber instead, this commander was getting a bit of a bargain "That mean I can get his part? Jokin'" Of course, he was a bit wary about the fact that Levik wouldn't give him anything until the pay was done, which was annoying, but this job would help him boost his reputation even more, so the Tiefling decided to simply nod his head "No questions on ma part."

Levik looked at the Mandalorian for a moment, pondering whether he should reveal the fact that this particular Sith Champion did once have a lightsaber in his possession, but relinquised it to the Empire in return for his life and the somewhat vague promise of freedom. He took a slow sip of his cognac as the Tiefling joked and then decided against sharing that fact. He didn't want to risk the Mandalorian skipping out because he couldn't get his ridiculous trophy. There were good credits in selling a lightsaber, but that was about it. Anyone could buy one off of the Exchange, or the Crimson Dawn, and pretend like they 'earned it in combat'.

"Fine, one share of credits and one lightsaber," the man they knew merely as 'the commander' confirmed. If this Mandalorian bagged him his Force-user then he could have all the lightsabers he wanted. Levik would get something much more valuable; credits from someone who can pay him even more in the future. Emperors, Kings and Queens. It was always best to work for the one that pays the best.

"The target was last spotted at his childhood home," the commander continued right into the mission brief, "Pier fifteen, Housing block three, apartment six. Used to be a good neighborhood until the Corellian government moved all the lowlifes there to make room for redevelopment somewhere else." The Corellian government and the Lorsoni Crime Family but who was counting? Mass development fraud was as common as the smell of salt in the middle of a sea.

"I rented a speeder van. We go there, bag him, throw him in and get back to hangar 13 and my shuttle." he said it so matter-of-factly, as if bagging a Sith was so simple anyone could do it. They didn't become a dominant Force in the galaxy and all around galactic boogeymen because they were dangerous or hard to defeat.

If there were no more question, Levik would empty his glass by downing the cognac in one go and then head outside for their speeder. It wouldn't be an awfully long trip but still long enough for the others to prepare. With the commander behind the wheel, the two operatives could get into the speeder van's back and equip whatever weapons and gear they thought they needed for the job.

The lithe Mandalorian nodded slowly as the Commander spoke, pausing a moment for the details to settle in. It was clear his brain was thinking of what he should way next, before speaking as softly as before.

"Make sure you either have the requisition form ready to get it back from someone inside the Empire," his eyes turned to the other being, his finger pointing to them as he slowly tilted his helmet downwards as if staring at them through raised eyebrows, "or make sure it's non damaged. A saber in the possession of a Mandalorian is a major trophy." He slowly stood up and began to walk out of the building, the soft clicks of metal spurs chimed with each step. He was like a ghost, even in his armor he seemed to vanish into the crowd.

He moved back to his ship and began to swap out his equipment, grabbing his DC-17x along with a few flash grenades, a vibro knife, a vibro saber, and his ID-21 Seeker Droid. He swapped out his kit for a jetpack, a scatterweave cloak, a flamethrower, and a dart launcher all paired with his helmet implanted Scout HUD. He made sure he was atleast a half-hour early waiting for the speeder van, his frame leaning against a wall near by covered by his cloak. He made sure to preload his launcher attatchment with a flash grenade, before sliding the sniper barrel onto his blaster. He would only move when the other hired gun would enter the speeder as he acted as an unofficial point man. And now... he was ready to go bag himself a Sith. Time to make a name for himself.

Khalid simply nodded as Levik agreed to give the man the lightsaber and him his share of credits, still mildly amused by the Mandalorian's obsession with a lightsaber. He guessed it was because he didn't have a kickass melee weapon, sure, beskar weapons were kind of neat...But were they as cool as a lightsaber or a couple of Matukai gauntlets? That was probably the actual reason, honor be damned.

Khalid simply nodded as the Commander told him more details and then asked them to get in the back of the van, the Tiefling finishing the cigarette in what it took for the Mandalorian to go and change his equipment "That's a lotta stuff" He would simply comment as he saw the Mandalorian arrived...God damn did Mandalorians love to be armed to the teeth, it was a good thing they were going to be hidden inside a vehicle until they arrived, but they were certainly not going to sneak up on the sith.

He didn't mind, though, the Tiefling cowboy would simple prepare his blaster and set it to stun before putting his Matukai gloves on. As the runt of the family, he always preferred to be quick on his feet, avoiding blows or reflecting them with his gloves rather than trying to tank stuff. "So, what's the plan? How ya want to handle this sith?" He asked both of them as they started to make their way towards the target "Pincer attack? Someone acts as a distraction and the other nabs 'im? Lure 'im into a trap?"

Levik had simply waited in the speeder van with the Tiefling as they both smoked a cigarette waiting for the Mandalorian to return with his extended arsenal. Once they were both in the van and out of sight from the public, Levik started the engines and began to drive towards their target residential pier. "The mando will stand out too much," he said in reply to Khalid, just as he steered the speeder onto one of Corellia's long bridges. "He can probably take position on top of one of the construction cranes," Levik had noticed the sniper rifle among the heavily armed man's equipment. "Provide overwatch and come down if the whole thing goes tits ups."

He paused for a moment to let a faster speeder overtake them. "You and me go knock on the door," he couldn't believe he said it and smiled into the rearview mirror at the Tiefling. "No need to try and talk to him," he added as he signalled he was now exiting the bridge at pier fifteen, "He won't come willingly anyway."

Parking the speeder as close to housing block three as possible, Levik killed the engines and pointed towards a nearby crane. At some point in the previous year some ambitious developer had planned to build a new complex here, but then the local crime families got the unions involved and the whole thing was stalled while they murked out the lawsuites and the bribes that came with it. It was a lesson to never start building if you don't have the proper enveloppes ready for the right people. "That's your spot, Telrand. Should give you a good view into his apartment, too." if he had the blinds open, anyway.

Then he took out his own DA-34 Blaster Pistol and set it to stun. "Let's go," the 'Commander' told Khalid as he opened the door and exited the speeder van, stuffing the blaster underneath his jacket and away from view. The walk over to apartment six wasn't long. The elevator was busted, that sucked, but luckily the former Sith lived on the second floors -of eight- so it was doable even if they had to drag his unconscious body back down with him.

Reaching the door, Levik opened up the commline he shared with his two mercenaries; "Telrand, you in position? Knocking in three," he said as he pulled out his blaster pistol and placed his left hand on the doorbell's camera. He counted on Khalid doing most of the heavy work in subduing the Sith as Levik himself was sorely missing his peacekeeper armor with the built-in cloaking device. It was always easier to get the drop on someone if they couldn't see you coming.

"Carth Monn! We're from the union! You haven't paid your dues!"

The Tiefling glanced at the Mando as the Commander started to give out orders: Yeah, he would definitely stand out a bit too much, it was probably for the better that he took the sniper spot. "Well, quite the straightfoward approach, not that I mind" Khalid would simply reply back to the "knock on the door" part, letting out a small smile, not that he minded: After all, sith were hard to be taken by surprise anyways.

Walking closely behind Levik, the Tiefling grabbed his blaster, already aiming to be able to fire as fast as he could once that door opened, the Tiefling left the Commander do the initial talk, but decided to butt in once he finished talking "C'mon, Carth, don't make this any worse fer ya!" Now they just had to wait for the sith to open the door...Unfortunately, that would've been the easy way, and sith were anything but easy.

"Ah, shit" Khalid started to feel the force gathering into something huge, the sith concentrating in order to probably attack if he had to guess "Outta the way!" the Tiefling cowboy would say, pushing Levik out of the way before diving to his own side, either the damn sith had used the force to sense that something was off or he was one aggressive, paranoid bastard: It could go either way, really.

Khalid would quickly get up, being the first one to enter the room just to see a chair aimed towards him, which he would shatter with a punch from his matukai gauntlets...But it left him open to a force push against the wall. The sith looked awfully stressed, did he know about the situation already or something? Regardless, they were going to fight a former sith all right.

Telrand nodded as the orders were delivered, his eyes glaring from beneath his lenses at the crane. Good overwatch, easy to manuver to and from, and perfect for being a supprise. He stepped from the speeder and made his way to the crane on foot. This would only be until he could successfully launch with his jetpack and no one in the building their target dwelled in would hear. The flicks of flame from his pack glowed blue, the soft growl of the pack audible to those within a near by vicinity as Telrand was boosted up onto the crane arm. He slowly laid down along the arm and tucked himself into the cowel of his scatterweave cloak. It went from a cape to a ghillie suit in no time, encapsulating his entire form just in case the Sith could sense his heat.

He would sit there and stare down the sight of his rifle. He would glare down into the dwelling ahead of him, his eye searching to find the target inside for overwatch. No dice. All he saw were glimpses. A hand, an arm, a leg, the back of their torso. Nothing for a good, solid kill shot. Then the strike team entered and things got messy. He waited for a good shot as he made sure he was as hidden as possible.

After a few ticks a stun bolt would be let loose through the window as Telrand had a decent shot. The bolt was aimed downwards, at least clipping the Sith's ankle and leaving a massive burn along their flesh. A second shot was let out moments after the first, landing on the heel of the Sith as they reacted to the pain just emerging from the first. This would be more than a stubbed toe, this would be nerves being fried. For any normal being walking on the foot would be difficult to say the least. But the being could possibly avoid this by focusing on simply ignoring the pain, which hopefully would diminish their other powers.

Everything almost went too fast for Levik to fully be able to follow. The Tiefling suddenly yelled something and pushed him to the side before the door was breach outward, shattered off its hingers, and by the time he was able to get back up, Khalid had already disappeared into the apartment. "Contact, contact," Levik signalled to the Mandalorian sniper as he rounded the corner just in time to see a flying chair getting demolished under the Tiefling's Matukai Gauntlets.

He brought up his own pistol with the aim to fire a stun-bolt straight at the Sith's chest when the latter suddenly let out a burst of energy, slinging Levik back into the corridor and Khalid against a nearby wall. This didn't look good at all, but then the first bolt soared through the open window. Barely a moment later a second shot landed on the Sith's foot with pin-point precision. Partially stunning the human and also distracting him long enough for Levik and Khalid to get a much-needed breather.

"Stun him!" the Imperial Commander cried as he -again- brought his pistol up and fired a stun-bolt at the former Sith Champion's chest.

The stun bolt made contact and the Sith Champion went down. Adrenaline still spiking, Levik fired another two stun bolts at the down Sith and only then allowed himself to breathe again. "I think he's down," he smiled and holstered his pistol. "Let's get him to the speeder and to my ship."

Roughly ten minutes later they had the unconscious former Sith in the van and another thirty minutes and they were lifting him over into Levik's spaceship where the Imperial Commander turned to his two companions with a mixture of pride and professionalism. "Good job, this could've gone a lot worse." and he grabbed two small backs from inside his ship and handed one to each of them. They were credits in cash, leaving no trace and could be transferred into an account at will.

"Now, lets forget we ever met and I definitely don't know either of you." Levik told the two hunters, who weren't aware that he was an actual Commander and from the Imperial Security Bureau at that, before turning around and heading into his ship. The doors closed behind him, the unconscious body was stun-cuffed in case he woke up and before long the small undefined shuttle left Corellia.

There was a drop-off to be made and a payment to receive.
