Operating for millennia, the famous Sluis Van Shipyards were a prominent manufacturing facility in the Outer Rim Territories. Reputable for their quality - albeit somewhat slow - manufacturing of spacefaring vessels, the enormous shipyards were capable of producing dozens of vessels at once. Due to the escalating conflict across the galaxy, however, demand for military-grade vessels slowed in the Outer Rim, which was largely untouched by war, and too far away from the front lines to be considered for lucrative military contracts. As prominent manufacturers such as Sienar Fleet Systems, Rendili StarDrive and MandalMotors found themselves dedicating more and more resources to the war effort, however, SVS carved out a niche in supplying civilian vessels and lighter, inexpensive craft for local governments and organisations, and continued to prosper as a result.

The enormous shipyards were capable of producing, refitting and repairing all but the largest of vessels, and excelled at producing smaller craft en masse for large contracts. With craft such as the 900 Series of light salvagers, SVS continued to turn a profit, excelling at equipping mining, salvaging and other civilian operations. Following the takeover of the Sluissi government by the Dark Jedi of the Bogan, SVS began to dedicate resources to arming and equipping the fledgling order with small strikecraft, such as the famous TRIE fighters.

K-Labs

Calling K-Labs a bona fide business venture in its own right is somewhat misleading. The unofficial calling card of an eccentric yet capable scientific genius, K-Labs is small, independently run business venture, protected and working for the Dark Jedi of the Bogan. Specialising in smalltime yet ambitious experimental procedures, K-Labs serves as the technological arm of the Bogan. The dissolution of the Galactic Alliance also deregulated many areas of scientific and military research, allowing the company the freedom to research previously methods and processes previously deemed illegal without repurcussion.

Though based on Sluis Van, K-Labs reaped many benefits when the Dark Jedi established their base on Dagobah. The former New Republic facility on Mount Yoda proved to be a wealth of knowledge on experimental projects, including many advances in the field of HRDs, or Human Replica Droids. Much of the knowledge discovered on Dagobah has seen practical use on organic and synthetic alike, such as the experimental
EAIP prototype. However, despite their resources and the brilliant nature of the leading scientist, K-labs remains an incredibly small operation, with no more then ten dedicated scientists working under the brand at any given time.
