<div align="center"><span style="font-family:Century Gothic">Sith Holocrons originated from secrets shared with the Sith King Adas by Rakatan soldiers trying to gain the trust of the Sith ruler. Adas made a holocron based on Rakatan design and it is presumed by the great Sith scholars that the art of holocron making originated from this very holocron.

The pull and allure of the holocrons were strong, which famed Jedi Historian Atris discovered as she collected holocrons that slowly turned her to the Dark Side of the Force. At the end of The Great Sith War, there was only one known Sith Holocron in existence. It had been captured by famed Jedi Master Odan-Urr during The Great Hyperspace War. Forty years later, the Jedi Atris kept dozens of them in her Telosian Jedi Academy. This holocron was said to contain information dating back to the completion of the original Galactic City on Coruscant 97,000 before The Great Sovereign Crusades.

Sith Holocrons were vastly different from Jedi Holocrons, as they were generally in the shape of a pyramid with ancient symbols etched throughout. Inscriptions lined the bottom with dark incantations found across the smooth surface. At the apex rested a crystal of darkness that harnessed the information stored within it.

Much like their affiliation, Sith holocrons were laced with a dark presence and created tremors in the Force upon their activation. For a Jedi, it would take a great deal of willpower to access the dark device and for those inexperienced ones, sickness would befall them from merely setting an eye upon the device.

Beneath the dark surface, however, the holocrons worked virtually the same way as a Jedi holocron. The crystal of darkness was made of lattices and vertices that stored massive amounts of information, as well as the holocrons Gatekeeper. The holocron was capable of assimilating the appearance and cognitive network of its owner and transform it into a hologram. This gatekeeper would act as a guide through the store of information as a personal search and recovery engine. The gatekeeper was capable of many things, such as relating stories from the archives to the events in the life of the one who activated it.

Whereas a Jedi Gatekeeper could sense the level and abilities of a Jedi, and restrict information accordingly so that Padawans were not shown information too advanced and dangerous for their level, Sith gatekeepers generally allowed activators unlimited access to the entire device. The gatekeeper would draw the viewer in with tales of power and was even capable of turning some Light Side Force users to the Dark Side.
