DESCRIPTION
Shatterpoint is a rare and niche ability known only to a handful of individuals in the galaxy. At its core, shatterpoint is the ability to see critical points in objects, people, or even the very fabric of space. The ability to perceive these fault lines was rarely taught and difficult to master.
When used on physical objects an individual can see the weaknesses in objects and pour energy into them, causing even hardened objects to break under the strain of the Force energies poured into them. It has many usages for escaping rooms, breaking doors, shattering armor, and more. This is the most obvious usage of the ability and perhaps the simplest to perceive for most, though performing such actions in the heat of the moment can be far more difficult.
Less concrete of an application is the ability to perceive critical events in space and time. Individuals at a particular location can, at times, perceive how important a specific event may be to the course of history or to the course of a person's life. While the importance of a single choice may be able to be perceived, it does not allow the user to understand what these outcomes are. It is not precognition or foresight in any way.
The final application of the ability is its use against other sentient beings. This can take multiple forms. In its physical form, it can be used to perceive old injuries as red fault-lines in the Force and energy can be poured into them to reopen old, even-healed injuries. When perceived through the Force, sometimes individuals can be perceived to be shatterpoints themselves: critical individuals who will change the course of the future.
While individuals of lower ranks can learn the basics of shatterpoint, its actual application and usage is only possible by masters of their respective sects. At best, lower ranked individuals can perceive fuzzy shatterpoints little better than those of untrained individuals.
Use of shatterpoint requires specific training in how to perceive such fault-lines, and thus requires actively RPing out a thread to learn the ability, acquire teachings on it, or be taught by a master.
INTENT
I wanted to expand on and create some Force powers for Force-centered characters. This is a canon ability without a write-up currently, and so I decided to remedy that. This power does not allow metagaming and should not be used for rules lawyering. It is a guideline.
