DESCRIPTION
A much more common and far less expensive variant of the computer spike, it used simple brute force programs that allowed it to rapidly bypass electronic locks on things like doors or containers. These are often a common part of the kits of criminals, bounty hunters, and law enforcement officers alike due to their expediency and reliability in getting through doors without immediately alerting those within.
Using a security spike allows cracking of most civilian systems within the posting round it's used. They also reduce the required slicing time on high-security or military doors or containers by one round compared to proper slicing or computer spikes, but impose a -10 penalty on 1d100 rolls due to their simplicity and lack of countermeasures.
LEGALITY
Limited. A common tool in the hands of planetary police or Sector Rangers, it requires licensing to to use legally in most systems.INTENT
To add a common slicer's tool from Canon and Legends to the forum's collection.
