"Zad. Zad Ruzed."
Zad Ruzed was born on Arvala-7. It catered to criminals and mercenaries, and those few folk who merely wanted to eke out a living in what peace and quiet they could muster. Any such scenario might have been Zad’s, save for certain circumstances that ensured his departure from the planet and his pursuit of the stars. Theft, murder, crime and corruption—the very circumstances that gave birth to his life were the same ones that gave him purpose to live.
He grew up in the embrace of a being who stood in for his mother and father, teaching him the ways of the desert and the ways to survive it, and Zad came to embrace the survival of the true desert: the galaxy itself. Hot, wild, as shifty as the sand, the stars and the planets they held were not so different.
He bid farewell to Arvala-7, also to the enemies he made along the way, the dust behind his boots and the stars before his gaze. The galaxy, however, was not unlike the desert he had left behind; hot, wild, drifting about the wind and unyielding to any attempt to tame it. Zad had yet to make his own attempt, but he had come to realize that there was only one way to tame the wild, and that was by embracing it.
The Sector Rangers, then, were a home away from home. He embraced their badge and the gun that came with it. His mentor had taught him a thing or two about honor and loyalty, about how the only way to ensure both was to shake another person’s hand while keeping your other hand on the grip of your pistol, because you never knew if the other person would let go or not. To this day, Zad lives by that code, roaming the stars to enforce order in a galaxy of chaos, and bringing down the law with a fist and the gun gripped by it.

Among the Sector Rangers, Zad stands out as being among the more solitary operators, if no less able to work together in small groups befitting protocol. He is, however, prone to enforcing the law on his own agenda, a bit of a maverick rangers. Zad's own personal ideals and history certainly ensure that he takes little to no qualms about meting out justice even if it might bend a rule or two.
Nevertheless, Zad takes pride in the badge pinned to his jacket. He is no vigilante or renegade, despite how tempting the notion might be at times. Rather, he believes in the creed of the Sector Rangers enough to have joined them: "What others abandon, we protect." In his own way, Zad was abandoned as a babe. In its own way, the entire galaxy was abandoned. Cities and civilizations, individuals and entire peoples, kicked to the dirt and tread upon by the hooves of empires and even republics.
Whatever their own agendas, Zad understands his with steel will: ensure that order is maintained, that this person and those people are kept in check, through the iron of justice, and the iron of the pistol. If someone dies by his, well, it was probably justified.
