BIOGRAPHY

The smuggler and hired gun who calls himself Scudd Jastain was born on the salvage ship "Pack Rat" to two members of it's crew. Instead of being left to be raised by family planetside, which was common practice for career spacers, he was raised among the crew since neither of his parents had particularly close family. As a permanent member of the Rat's crew he learned to keep the old vessel in working order, how to get the most out of salvage, and how to pilot the detachable salvage craft. His first eleven years were spent out among the stars of the Mid and Outer Rim territories honing these essential skills.

When he was around the age of eleven the "Pack Rat" was attacked by a band of pirates who killed most of the vessel's small crew in a firefight while attempting to storm it, though upon seeing the adolescent Duros the pirates decided to show mercy and merely stunned him and dropped him and the few other survivors off on nearby Ord Mantel. His parents now dead and any potential guardian from the crew fading into the woodwork and refusing to take responsibility for him Scudd was left to survive on his own in one of the rougher ports in the galaxy. In this time he had to rely on panhandling and theft until he found work in a droid repair shop and later as a mechanic. But that streak of taking what wasn't rightfully his led to charges of petty theft, burglary and sometimes assault, though as a minor he avoided the worst of the punishments.

At the age of seventeen his activities and skill set attracted the attention of a smuggler that was passing through by the name of Hatteras, and the two hit it off while looking for a shipment that had been 'misplaced'. A brief search and a tousle with the Ord Mantel Port Authority later and they were bound for the stars together, though chased by a small number of blaster bolts. The pair firmly bonded over the next eight years of working together, Scudd acting as the duo's mechanic and co-pilot and coming to see the errant scoundrel as something of a father figure. In that time the old hand taught Scudd everything he knew about moving sensitive cargo and avoiding security, and eventually starting to take odd jobs from the Crimson Dawn.

At the age of twenty-five Scudd's life was about to turn upsidown again. Crimson Dawn got hold of some information about a shipment of valuable artifacts going to a private collector in the Tapani sector and Hatteras and Scudd were given the task of bringing it to its 'proper' owner. Their plan was simple, intercept the ship at port and after talking their way aboard subdue the crew and take the ship with everything on board. Problem was that the authorities were waiting in ambush, having already used this set up as bait to quietly apprehend two other groups of outlaws so far.

Calm and confident as could be Scudd and Hatteras approached the landing platform, but were surprised when law enforcement sprang out of hiding. Both drew their weapons and opened fire and in the next several minutes the pair made their way to the freighter, downing several officers in the exchange of blasterfire. Scudd boarded the ship in an attempt to bring it online in order to flee while Hatteras held off the officers from the ramp. Regardless of how fast Scudd was he couldnt bring it into operation fast enough as the older smuggler was struck multiple times by blasterfire. The last thing the Duros saw of his adoptive father was of the wounded man waving him back as he closed the ramp. With that he took to the air, leaving the dead Hatteras on the pad.

Sucudd Returned to the criminal organization without the intended loot, but had the ship as evidence that the failure had not been due to him or Hatteras. Claiming it as his own and renaming it "Pack Ratt" in honor of his first home, he continued to take jobs form the Crimson Dawn because he didnt know what else to do with himself.

Personality & Known Quirks
Scudd Jastain is known to be a hotshot pilot and will often use rather exaggerated and flashy maneuvers when flying. This is mirrored somewhat but to a much lesser degree in his personal attire and actions with the use of a long flowing coat and twin twirling blasters to match the aesthetic of a holonet smuggler, though when the bolts are flying he is much more focused and direct.

He is often very diciplined when discussing his business dealings but quite jovial and boisterous when there is not a pressing matter at hand. Words such as 'goofy' and 'shameless' are often used to describe him when he is not avoiding the authorities or negotiating, 'work' as he has been known to call it from time to time. Though on one occasion a spacer managed to pry out of him just why he acts the way and Scudd admitted that he knows that one day the end will come, business requires focus but why not live while he has the chance?

While known to prefer that blasters don't come in to play he is not known to hesitate to use lethal force in order to succeed in a deal or to survive, using his acquired skill at marksmanship when he feels it necessary. No stranger to death he usually claims something to the affect of "We all have to go some time."

He lives the criminal life for a small handful of reasons, namely it is what he has known for most of his life and it offers the freedom and excitement that seems to fulfill his sense of living. Though the idea of climbing the criminal ladder and going out with the biggest reputation possible seems appealing in it's own right. But one thing is for sure, his naming of ships and droids in a fashion that hearkens back to his past shows that he at least longs for the freedom of space or for the companionship that he is lacking at the moment.

Capabilities & Training
Focusing more on his flexibility and intelligence Scudd is not the most Physically fit being in the galaxy but is notably quick on his feet when he has to be and more often than not will try to talk his way out of a situation before blasting.

His youth around starships, salvage and machines gave him a leg up once he took up smuggling, able to get the most out of his equipment. And a known joy and talent for flying has lead to some remarkable piloting ability.

Known to speak basic, Huttese, and to at least understand droidspeak Scudd can be quite the negotiator and conversationalist.

[At 188cm and 102kg Scudd is tall and a little on the lean side for his height, with pale blue skin and horizontally slitted orange eyes common in his species. Indeed he does not really stand out from most Duros in a crowd save for his above average height and flair. Often seen in a long flowing coat and sporting twin blasters in an image some claim he stole from the infamous bounty hunter and mercenary Cad Bane he cuts quite a dashing figure when in port. Anyone close to him has no doubt seen him in his long stained and well used flight suit, though that is usually only worn when onboard the Pack Ratt.

Hi, @Kallus. Characters cannot begin with any sort of reputation within factions or otherwise. The fact that he is well known with the Sector Rangers and it is made mention that they are tracking him and / or updating their databases with his information, hints that he has way too much of a criminal reputation for this level. Please revise your bio accordingly and tag me for review.

Sorry, I got a little carried away writing from the perspective of a criminal profile that I didn't think about reputation. I have changed it and I believe removed all traces of a reputation with the Sector Rangers, though I left him having already done some minor work for Crimson Dawn as a foot in the door with the syndicate if that is ok. Is there anything else that needs to be amended?
