PERSONALITY

p9ldh.gif
Ryu Wrens’ presence alone has been know to increase the heart rates of those in his midst. An eerie, uncomfortable aura surrounds the Sith potent enough to send shivers down the spines of weaker individuals. Even his attire erupts with the essence of dark side while a hauntingly demonic visage makes him seem all the more overpowering. Ryu’s voice is deep and carries an almost robotic element to it; however it isn’t monotone whatsoever. In fact it is a rather commanding in its tones; remaining stoic and stern regardless of the situation.
Hot-tempered, vicious and violent he is often calculated and overpowering in his ways, opting to use fear as well as strength to keep those under his command or tutelage in line. His regard for his peers within the order often does not exceed his use for them.

Ryu spent much of his teenage years being fashioned into an unstoppable juggernaut. He is a man of focus, of commitment and sheer will. The habits that were ingrained in him, not only by his father before his capture but his Sith master after have caused him to devote much of his spare time to self-improvement. Unlike other members of the Sith, Ryu is not driven by a lust for power or dreams of grandeur but by a fierce dedication to warfare. Ryu believes that conflict is the only true way for one to evolve and grow stronger and that his ascension to higher echelons within the order is inevitable if he continues to chase glory on the battlefield. He keeps order by enforcing his word as absolute to those who are and he believes are beneath him. With no real care for the freedom of others in the order, their dignity or their life he asks but one thing from his men. Total and complete unwavering loyalty, any less is unacceptable.

Years of torture and lack of love have left Ryu slightly stripped of emotion. All but stripped of his past life on Mandalore his memories lay locked away leaving but a hollow man with clear lack of humanity. Almost rallying to battle Ryu does not fear death and sees it as inevitable, for this reason he holds those who ran from things that were necessary or inevitable as cowards.

While he does not care much for the larger Sith agenda he remains active and useful to those above him. Using what he has been taught he spends time on Ziost training chosen members of the order. Ryu has an almost memorizing charisma to him and his followers often hang of his every word as if cultists. Ryu has a fairly well known unstable side and is most likely down to his training. A total zero tolerance for weakness and his years of success he has developed a rather noticeable superiority complex. While this is a clear weakness in his personality it has helped him to provide the Sith Order with a much higher pedigree of elite warriors that will no doubt be helpful in coming conflicts.

Overall Ryu is not the zealot that those who kidnapped him may have once believed him to be. While he has a loyalty to the Sith and enjoys the opportunities the order present him to grow stronger recent events have left him with more than a few questions.

APPEARANCE

Face%20Claim_1.jpg
Ryu Wren is a towering behemoth of a being, the sheer magnitude of which is enough to leave enemies quaking in their boots. With his bulging muscles and armor he has earned himself the name “The Juggernaut” among many that he has met on the battlefield. His body type is perfectly developed for overpowering his opponents and is more dependent on sheer physical endurance and resilience over agility and dexterity.

Like most of his culture it is rare to see Ryu without his armour on, and his mask very much pays homage to his motherland. Wearing such a large amount of armour is also down to his body being so incredibly disfigured by scars and burns. The blemishes on his body were received on the battlefield and through the years and years of torture he endured in training. Ryu’s face was luckily left mostly unaffected by the torture but has noticeable effects of corruption making him seem several years older than he actually is. His eyes burn a bright orangey red, but are a key tell that he has not traveled so far down the dark path that he is no longer redeemable.

Ryu has a confident and powerful walk about him, his military training causing him to walk with his arms quite rigidly swinging by his side. While talking or standing still he will often remain with his arms folded and in a very upright position. Ryu likes to have his presence felt and will often make the situation uncomfortable for those talking just by standing there.

ORIGINS

Hailing from the Clan Wren, under the mighty and powerful House Viszla Ryu was the youngest child of Vetu and Leyla Wren. Born on a farm he lived with his parents and two identical twin sisters known as Kalii and Mayv. While Ryu’s parents may have been farmers they were both first and foremost soldiers. Vetu had spent almost his entire adult life in the Mandalorian Special Forces while Leyla had spent a most of hers in the Mandalorian Medical Corps. undoubtedly this was the reason for the pair not only being incredibly hard working but strict and set in their views of what a Mandalorian should aspire to be. These values and standards were something that they passed down to their children sometimes verbal but a lot of the time through leading by example. As soon as the children were able they began pulling their weight, first with simple chores around the house and then harder tasks around the farm. The work taught the children valuable lessons about responsibly, reliability and good work ethic. As Ryu and his sisters grew they began developing a healthy competitiveness and would try to best each other in any way they could. Their parents even began instruction them in a martial art favoured among the Mandalorians known as Teras Kasi or Steel Fist. They were only old enough to grasp the basics at first, yet that didn’t stop them throwing down in a make-shift duelling circle and playing “gladiator”.
Ryu’s early life was an extremely enjoyable one. Aside from the antics that he and his sisters got up to in their free time he had also become a fond hunter. While what he was hunting was nothing special the animals he killed provided plenty a challenge for him. The main reason for this was his insistence on hunting without a rifle, but a blade. Ryu enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, the battle between man and beast and that struggle between two things trying to survive only found in a fight. To Ryu killing almost came natural to him, though he did not get enjoyment from taking life, more of a sense of accomplishment after being victorious. Vetu and Leyla were not stupid enough however to believe that it was pure natural ability that caused Ryu be so successful in the physical tasks he did. Both his parents had begun to notice increased reflexes and heightened senses in not only Ryu but his sisters also. These powers pointed directly at force sensitivity and it was most prominent when the children duelled one and other. All three could clearly sense each other’s next move in combat, they reacted almost instinctively, blocking and countering with proficiency far beyond the level normally obtainable by someone of their ages.

Ryu’s parents still had many friends and contacts in the upper echelons of the Mandalorian Military Command. It was these connections that offered Vetu and Leyla’s three children a place in an off the books military training academy. The list of candidates was limited, due to the nature of the academy only those who met the specific requirements were accepted. The academy had been formed to provide the Mandalorian Military and its allies with a high calibre soldiers who were superior in every way to the average grunt. The candidates received training to make them stand out from everyone including the Mandalorian Special Forces, a group that was renowned and revered galaxy wide for their skill. Ryu’s parents would not deny their children a chance such as this and signed the relevant documents to send them to the academy. Upon arrival the training started immediately with civilian clothes being swapped for a more rigid and structured uniform. Hair was cut to be manageable rather than a fashion statement and all personal belongings were sent back home for safe keeping. The head of the academy then divided the children into squads before showing them what would be their living quarters for the foreseeable future. Whether it was on purpose or by luck Ryu along with his sisters formed a three man squad, something that pleased the siblings greatly having reliable team mates as well as friendly faces.

It was tough at first adjusting to the academy. Even for those who had been brought up in strict military households like Ryu had were slightly shocked by the difference between where they had come from. The first year was built around theory work rather than practical and while they did some light physical preparation, it was nothing to strenuous. Among other things Ryu was given a comprehensive education alongside his training which included subjects such as maths, science, physics, reading, writing and military tactics. Due to his age he was able to absorb and retain the information much easier than an adult could, something those running the academy was dependant on. After passing the first year and the initial training phase the candidates moved onto more advanced physical activity alongside their education. Instructors at the academy pushed everyone to their limits and then asked them to keep pushing regardless if it was sparring or simple drill work. Each child was prepared and allowed to attempt their Verd’goten when they came of age, officially recognising them as adults in society. It wasn’t surprising that with all the training Ryu had gained that he passed his verd’goten fairly easily.

Not long after Ryu had past his verd’goten he and other candidates were transported to multiple locations. They were taken to Manaan to learn diving and skills such as underwater breaching techniques. They then went to the baron deserts of Tatooine where they learnt to survive in the scorching heat under with limited water and food. Then finally they were taken to Phindar to begin another month long exercise, this time they would learn jungle training and guerrilla warfare tactics. These training exercises provided all of the recruits with a much needed shock to the system and a kick up the backside for any of them becoming complacent. It was here on Phindar that Ryu and his sisters’ once promising lives were turned upside down. Unknown to the recruits a powerful Sith Lord known as Darth Kissak had sent members of a group called the Sacred Band of Ziost to spy on them. Kissak had become interested in the recruits especially Ryu and his sisters after realising that they possessed a connection to the force. Within them Kissak had seen an opportunity to obtaining not just a strong apprentice, but an exceptional one and it was a chance he was not going to miss. The trap was set and members of the SBZ ambushed the squad containing Ryu and his sisters. They had been trained well and managed to fend off a number of the attackers before they were overwhelmed. Luckily Kiila was able to escape but sadly Ryu and Mayv were not so fortunate, having fought so gallantly the pair were sedated and transported to Darth Kissak on Korriban. Kissak was a cruel and twisted master of the dark side. Well known for the manner in which he treated his students he spent the first few months after Ryu and Mayv arrived torturing them, almost endlessly. The siblings attempted to resist the pain and the demands of the maniac, part of them had hoped that the Mandalorians would come for them but no one did. Eventually he could no longer bare to watch his sister in agony and naively agreed to do and become whatever it was that Kissak wanted if he let his sister go.

That would be the last time he saw Mayv, or anyone he had known for that matter. Ryu had hoped that his sacrifice would be worthwhile and that his sister was free to go home and live her life. Kissak’s first move was to lock away Ryu’s memories in the depths of his sub-conscious. Ryu would be known as Kadeous to his peers from that point onwards a name to conceal the life that he was now living. The torture continued on a daily basis until it no longer bothered Ryu, it was almost as if he had become numb to pain and emotion along with it. There was little option but for him to eventually bow to Kissak and name him master. Despite his master’s obsession with him, he did not care for Ryu’s wellbeing and had but one desire, to create a warrior apprentice like none had ever seen before.

The place that Kissak trained Ryu was a secluded and enclosed area with little to no natural sunlight. The walls were made of hard dark stone. It made the academy he was taken from seem like it had been a fun house but there was little care left in Ryu, after all this place is all he knew. For hours each day Ryu was subjected to arduous and rigorous training. In the morning he would practice lightsaber combat, often facing impossible or multiple opponents. There was no mercy or forgiveness in his training and when he fell to the floor, the beatings continued almost like a criminal being flogged. Ryu got bigger though and much stronger and in time he learned to put up a fight before Kissak upped the anti-once more. In the evenings Kissak would teach Ryu the ways of the force by throwing things at him. The objects varied from day to day, sometimes they were stones, sometimes they were knives and all Ryu had to do to not get hurt, was to stop the object traveling with his mind. Kissak had little care for the broader applications of the force and what he taught Ryu was basic, it was functional for what he had planned.

It wasn’t until Ryu was aged twenty that his master saw fit that he was ready to be set upon the galaxy. It had been almost six years since that fateful day on Phindar and he was but a shell of the man who had been taken. His body covered in burns, scars and his face aged to a man who was far older than twenty. Aside from the blemishes he was magnificent, his body was thick with muscle and his legs were powerful enough to deadlift a small transport. Kissak sent Ryu on mission after mission from that point onwards and Ryu charged across the battlefields of space with a fleet at his back. Together Kissak and Ryu claimed territory for the Sith Order, his master claimed all the glory of course but he only cared about battle.

Age twenty two, Ryu had his first flashback. It was nothing serious but it was enough to warrant him investigating. He’d had dreams before but nothing while he was awake and this time the vision was slightly clearer, a farm of some sort. Ryu dared not ask his master and instead sought to find his own answers. Over the coming months the visions became clearer and broader, even in dreams they had seemingly more too them until one day while traveling through Mandalorian space images came flooding back to him. Ryu knew what he had to do and taking a ship, he set off to find the source of his visions.

Eventually by the age of twenty six Ryu had discovered the truth behind the lies, his sister whom he had sacrificed everything had never made it home and his other sister now fought alongside the Jedi. He thought back at that moment to all the Jedi he had slain before realising who he was. Could he have accidently killed her. Only time would tell but one thing was for certain, that he would make all those responsible pay for what they had done.

POWERS AND SKILLS

AwesomeMarr_zpsrqfg3h6z.gif
Ryu Wren is a towering behemoth of a being, the sheer magnitude of which is enough to be considered as strength. Ryu is known for being exceptionally strong and has become such through hours upon hours of physical graft. He has also developed an impressive mental resilience and tolerance to pain often being able to carry on well past the point others would have fallen unconscious or died. To further this trait he often feeds of his connection to the dark side or inject adrenals, though this tends to be only in dire situations.
One of the drawbacks of being so large is that he is rather lacking in the speed department. As one would expect a six foot seven giant of his size is not the most acrobatic of fighters or the most agile, however one thing he does have is a high physical endurance. Like a pack mule Ryu can fight on and on and on while many of his peers and opponents would have long since been exhausted, something that has worked in his favor in the past.

Something that may shock people to learn is that Ryu is fairly intelligent. Due to his schooling he has a comprehensive knowledge of practical skills such as reading and writing as well as a more technical knowledge of things such as maths and physics. Where Ryu really shines though is his knowledge of the battlefield and military strategy, having proven himself many times over during his conquests of Sith space he is a reliable and trustworthy leader.

The biggest shortfall in Ryu’s arsenal is his lack of control over the force. This is largely down to his master who saw little point in teaching him much beyond the basics of force manipulation. The abilities Ryu tends to use directly aid him in his more favored form combat which is that of melee fighting.

Ryu is a practitioner of many forms of lightsaber combat but most often opts for the use of Form V. Form V focus’ on power attacks, defense and counter attacks as well as the combination of maneuvers and tactics from Form II and III. It is not uncommon for him to incorporate aspects of martial arts into his fighting style. He also uses many of the lightsaber principles, but especially Dun Möch as a way to infuriate opponents and make them loose focus.

GEAR AND BELONGINGS
Aside from his armour Ryu has very few possessions. Living off world for the most part he tends to spend most of his time on his ship, while not on operations'. For this reason his ship is quite luxurious and comfortable. Easily reachable by a secure comlink system he can be where he is needed as quickly as anyone else in the order. Built for speed and to fight alongside the larger Sith fleet his ship is well armed and manoverable.
He also owns two single blades lightsabers. Held on him at all times and fastened to his utility belt he keeps the second as a spare in the event of him being disarmed. Both hilts are of a similar design and have bright crimson red blades that almost pulse when being looked at.

Due to his line of work it is important to keep his ship up and running at all times and owns a high-tech astromech droid that not only fixes and maintains the ship but can aid Ryu in creating explosives and such like in the event of him needing them.

Other miscellaneous items extend to simple thing such as first aid supplies as well as an encrypted datapad with a recording function to document certain events that he may need to revise at some point or another. He also uses it to log enemies battle tactics along with his opponents name ensuring that he is able to keep one step ahead of those he meets more than once.

Thermal Detonators (2)
Flash Grenades (2)
Smoke Grenades (2)
Medpac
