THE STAR WARS RP
DEBATE ROOM RULES

The following are the rules of the Star Wars RP Debate Room. If you break these rules and it is deemed that you cannot debate in a mature and responsible fashion, then you will not debate for a certain period of time. It’s that simple. There are no “ifs”, “ands” or “buts” in this matter. Your access to the Debate Room will be taken away once an Administrator has made their decision and that decision will be final until it can be determined whether or not you are mature enough to regain your access.

Rules

1) When creating a debate, it must be two sided. To elaborate, you must provide both sides of the debate in your first post and you must give enough information for people to understand where you are coming from. After stating both sides, you are more than welcome to give your own opinion.
2) You are to show respect to all members at all times, regardless of whether or not you agree with their opinions and positions.
3) You will not, under any circumstance or situation, flame/insult anyone.
4) If you wish to argue, you may argue. However, it must be done civilized.
5) If someone argues a point that you made and you cannot respond in a kind, respectful and civilized manner, you will either concede defeat or walk away without saying anything.
6) You will not, under any circumstances, turn a debate into a flame war. Remember the age-old saying: if you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.

Consequences

Time and time again, debaters on this site have broken every single Debate Room rule. Sometimes, they broke them all in the same post! The staff was lenient in the past, but it did not work. Not only did this ridiculous, childish and immature behavior continue, but it got worse. Debating seemed to improve, but it has gone downhill again.

If you break the rules of this board, your access to the Debate Room can and will be taken away. Posting in this board is a privilege, not a right, and it’s one that can be taken away. To do this, the Three Strike Policy will be implemented. If you receive three strikes, then just like in baseball, you’re out. You will be banned from the Debate Room for a certain period of time, those time frames being as follows:

First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Warning
Third Offense: Banned from debates for one week
Fourth Office: Banned from debates for two weeks
Fifth Offense: Banned from debates for one month
Sixth Offense: Banned from debates for six months
Seventh Offense: Banned from debates forever

Debating priviledges can be restored earlier if the staff deems you fit to debate once again. However, should you attempt to circumvent your ban from the Debate Room in any way, shape or form, it is guaranteed that you will be banned from the entire site for at least twenty-four hours, pending further review from the staff. If the staff feels the ban should be longer, then it will be longer.

If you feel that you are being attacked in a debate thread for something you have said, please report it to a staff member and they will deal with the person making the attacks. If you try to handle it on your own, you risk making yourself look bad and, thus, share in the blame. Even if it is a staff member that is attacking you, please report it to another staff member.

Those are the rules and you are expected to follow them. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact a staff member at your earliest convenience.
