The RSKF-44 heavy blaster was a model of heavy blaster pistol produced by BlasTech Industries that was of a two-barreled blaster design, firing two blaster bolts per shot, originally released to the open market during the Imperial era. This method of doubling firing bolts allowed it to produce the same firepower as contemporary pistols that use a higher output per bolt, with superior heat bleed off, reduced wear, and longer range. The trade off was an overall increased weight, sound, recoil, and power used per trigger pull, resulting in a mixed reception among blaster aficionados. Despite this, it gained a small cult following owing to its distinctive appearance and firing power.
A model notable for its durable and well-weighted design, the RSKF-44 was capable of going through significant abuse and continuing to fire. The slide open reload and ability to purchase individual models based on the user's handedness allows a skilled handler to reload the weapon while in certain holsters with a single hand, which the manual insists is definitely not recommended for safety reasons. For ease of readying the weapon to fire, the safety lock is located near standard thumb placement. The barrel shroud is coated in a layer of heat-dissipating Dallorian alloy, the tip of which often gains a polychromatic sheen from frequent use heating the barrel, referred to as 'slingshine' by those in the know. The sound of the weapon firing is quite loud, a thrumming crack the result of the heat produced by the double bolts. A detachable macroscope is sometimes included to aid in firing out to its maximum distance of 40 meters.
Though the default blaster packs use the common blaster gas, packs that use higher quality gas producing bolts in green, blue, or yellow can also be purchased. Each pack contains both blaster gas and power required to fire the weapon. The finish color can be customized when ordered, and the grip can be easily removed and replaced with any design of the owner's preference. Though an older model, both used and new examples can be found and purchased from a variety of places, including BlasTech itself.
Legal. Ownership of blaster pistols is not restricted in most of the Galaxy, however openly carrying such a weapon in public might be on more "civilized" worlds. On less civilized worlds, it still might draw unwanted scrutiny.
To introduce a stylish weapon from Canon originally seen in the Han Solo movie as an alternative to other weapons with similar stats, along with an alternate way of handling Heavy pistol damage.
The weapon cannot accept modifications that increase bolt damage output without exploding. Firing the weapon intrinsically uses both barrels at once, sharing a single power cycle rate, and cannot be modified to fire more quickly or to use each barrel separately. While it does fire two individual bolts, they are so close together that there is no increase in dodging or deflecting difficulty. In all ways it functions as a pistol that does Heavy damage.
