The hand directly over her shoulder sent a shiver down Pidge’s spine. The gesture was imposing and alluring.

“I would love-“ The woman leaning over her closed in. It was a test for reaction, and Pidge did not flinch. She wasn’t the skittish type. Still, the gentle brush of the woman’s soft lips surprised her, and the inhaled sharply before relaxing, closing her grey-green eyes in pleasure. The Twi’lek leaned in and pressed her lips more firmly to Ilana’s. Wrapping her arms around the other woman’s waist, she pulled their bodies closer. The pale woman smelled sweet and fresh, like the flowers people tried to grow on Coruscant, the ones that wilted in the city air within a few days. Likely, the doctor would be gone in a few days, too, but Pidge was going to do her very best to make the moments last. She lifted the still-gloved hands to the woman’s head and stroked her silky hair before letting go and stepping back. As soon as the contact between the two was lost, the Twi’lek’s mind went from serene to racing. Her cheeks and ears were crimson and her stomach fluttered. Perhaps the Jawa Juice was not the wisest choice. The heart inside the teal body was pounding fast and hard.

Shyly, she looked back into the amber eyes. “As I was saying before the lovely interruption, I would love to have you over to my place. As for boldness, as long as it’s not vulgar, I quite enjoy risks. Now I can be bold and say that I’m shocked, but not at all disappointed that you’re interested. How many offers to take you home have your refused tonight?” Given the way Ilana looked under sparkling city lights, likely several dozen. The woman could have been a galactic supermodel. The question, accompanied by a wink, was cut off by a bright light streaming in the door. A guard poked his head in and the scoundrel shrunk back. The beam of light danced in the dark room, illuminating clouds of rising dust. Pidge scarcely dared to breathe. Ever so slowly, she drew her pistol, but made no move to fire. Motioning toward the other woman, she sidestepped lightly, breath held towards a window. It seemed as if her entertaining night would feature a stealth course.

Triumph flared hot and sharp in her chest and she chuckled between them, and when they parted she moved swiftly. Her words were registered, but she was spared a reply; a lone guard decided to make a vigil sweep of their cozy little nook. She was mildly amused it took them so long; the light tremulously illuminated short of revealing, but her companion had already silently slipped out of view.

She followed suit, but her hands were oddly bare. But the window...?

She hoped to some gods it wasn't raining. She forgot her jacket at the ship.

It was raining. The cool drops pattered lightly on the glass of the window, creating streaks of grime and dust. The beam of the flashlight was still searching in the dark, darting unpredictability about. With a nervous glance behind her, Pidge flicked the window lock and began to slowly lift the tinted pane. They would have to slide out, or rain coming in and sounds from the storm would make it much to easy to pinpoint their location. Fortunately, the window was old enough that the paint stuck and the glass did not have to be supported to prevent it from crashing down, again, ruining the attempt at stealth.

The Twi’lek easily slipped through the gap and offered a hand to the other woman. Pidge was quite glad she had not decided to wear heels that night. Once Ilana was out, the teal scoundrel began dashing through alleyways and past shops to the nearest shuttle station. Theoretically, they were out of trouble, but she didn’t want to take any chances that might ruin her impromptu date. Neon signs were reflected in puddles, creating an odd mirror to the street around the women. Perhaps it was paranoia, but it gave an impression of feeling trapped, of seeing the same thing everywhere. Pidge reminded herself the reason she survived was because she was careful, wary.

Inside the shuttle station was a hubbub or exhausted workers and impatient travelers. Not having her own ship, she had to take public transport, accompanied by people on nearby business trips and large families with cranky children. The situation was not exactly romantic, but Ilana would have to deal with it. The shuttle was pill-shaped and lined with two rows of poorly- padded seats facing inwards. Pidge motioned to a pair of seats near a window.

“The ride is roughly two hours, but I assume you want to stay the night, so, if I dare to be bold-“ She winked at the joke, “-it should be worth it. For the view, of course.”

And just like that, it was freedom and rain. She could feel it sheeting down her bare arms, cleaving the cut of her dress and making running with Pidge all the more difficult. She could sense the fear, the elation, all these emotions and more bursting out, and felt an edge of triumph as well. She wasn't going to lie, seeing her run like that... stirred the Doctor, and briefly there was the mad thought of simply taking her to her own ship. But truth be told... she wasn't ready for anyone to be on her ship yet, anyone that wasn't a patient.

The smells within the transport nearly made her reconsider; sweat, sickness, worn-out bodies that slumped tiredly and looked as though the galaxy beat them to nothing.

She perched on one chair, mindless of the dampness, and merely gave a faint smile in return.
"I think spending it in good company..." her fingers trailed up the woman's arm slowly, amber gaze intense, "...will make the two hours seem like minutes. Don't you?"

Leaning into Ilana’s touch, Pidge smiled. The woman was putting on a good face, despite the fact she didn’t seem the type to frequently use such an inelegant means of getting around. If the Twi’lek were to guess, her gorgeous date likely owned a luxury yacht or a world class skyliner. After all, doctors did get paid handsomely with the right patients. As the blue glow of hyperspace sped by the window, Pidge made a mental note to herself to look up ships linked to an Ilana Morata. The information was worthless, practically speaking, but she was curious. Perhaps someday she would be invited in it.

“Here it is.” The lock to apartment 3791 flashed green and the door swung open, revealing a tidy room with a neatly made bed, a chromium armoire, and a kitchenette. The wall opposite the door was entirely glass, displaying a 37th floor view of the city. A giant neon Twi’lek statue was dancing in a town square, and despite the time of night, speeders flew by like hoards of insects. Booming music reverberated from a nearby building. Pidge disappeared and quickly reappeared with a bottle of champagne and two glasses, which she set on the counter. The drink was a light golden color with a reddish tint. “Drink up. I’ve been saving this for a good date. Or maybe the night of a really bad one. I’m glad it turned out to be enjoyable- for me, at least.” Once both women had enjoyed a glass, Pidge got up, leaned over and kissed Ilana sweetly first on the lips, then on the neck, as long as she would comply. Then she went to pour another drink. It was the best night she’d had in years.

Small, simple, plain.

Honestly, she'd expected worse. Did the woman anticipate that the Doctor habited higher-quality dwellings? If she were to act her mother's daughter, perhaps... but that bridge had been burned many years ago. Instead her amber gaze swept over the space, then Pidge's own light maneuvers with a sharp eye, head tilted slightly. The view itself was not a bad one. She admired for a moment the Twi'Lek image, the cityscape... but at the offering of the drink, she took a sip, and shared the glass with charming company.

At the kiss, a pleased, low chuckle vibrated from her lips, an arm curling possessively around the other woman's waist. She allowed her to kiss further down her neck with an elegant tilt, then released. When another drink had been shared, she set the glass by side, and curled her own arm around the woman's waist once more, lips pressing lightly against the curve of her collarbone, then slowly further up, feeling the pulse beneath her lips, hearing her breath.

"I think I'm in a celebratory mood, myself..." she murmured, hand lightly framing Pidge's jaw.

She drew the woman in for another kiss, pulling her against her.

They had hours, and she intended to use them well for her partner. It was the least she could do, after all.
