Biography

Ripley Virago is a historian for the Galactic Museum, a self-proclaimed Ghost Hunter, and the host of a docuseries.

Ripley was born on the planet of Arkania, a planet long ago adopted by the Arkanians as their homeworld. Within the safety of its capital city Adascopolis, young Ripley grew and flourished alongside her twin brother. Ripley's father, Darros Virago, had already made his fortune when he and his wife decided to bring two children into the world. Intelligent and shrewd, Darros Virago was the proud owner of a mining operation located in the frozen tundra of the planet, mainly dealing in the export of diamonds and other valuable minerals. He was a well-known and respected member of Adascopolis society and a good friend of the House of Adasca.

Born into such wealth, Ripley and her brother Ryker never wanted for anything, unlike those that had the misfortune to live in the outskirts of the capital. Like so many of their species, Ripley's parents were arrogant and proud of their heritage and of their blood status, believing the Arkanian species to be the superior species. They did not socialize with off-shoots if it could be avoided, but even they could not deny the signs of a less-than-pure lineage when their beloved daughter and son were born with white irises and five digits on each hand.

Disappointed as they might have been, the new parents did not love their children any less for it. They consoled themselves with the fact that both their children had the signature Arkanian tan skin and white hair. "It's become increasingly difficult throughout the years to tell a pure-blood Arkanian from a sub-species anyway," they would tell each other. The two parents loved their children with every fiber of their being and doted on them, providing them with all of their needs and providing them with the best credits could buy.

They were strict in the upbringing of their children and held high ideals, expecting much of both Ripley and Ryker, particularly when it came to their professions. Despite this strict oversight, Ripley had a penchant for mischief and exploration. Every chance she got, she would accompany her father on his business trips, regularly visiting Coruscant and Brentaal.

Most likely a result of her desire to explore, she developed an interest in history early on, and her parents encouraged her to pursue that interest. With the education they provided and the internships open to her due to their connections, Ripley's interest developed into a career over the years. Her parents were pleased with her choice of profession and the respectability and possible notoriety it promised if she continued to apply herself.

Ripley's other, possibly greater passion is the bane of her parent's existence, and they remind her of this often. Ripley had long felt the pull of something deep within her, heard voices that only she could hear, and experienced an unexplainable stirring that she never dared vocalize as a child. Early into her career, this phenomena became clear to her. She could communicate and interact with those who had already passed on. Ghosts. She believes this is her true calling and has pursued it ever since, much to her parent's chagrin.

Ripley continues to hold down her job with the museum, allowing her to travel the galaxy as a historian while she simultaneously searches to discover and document ghosts. Ryker regularly accompanies her as her videographer. She is the host of a docuseries entitled Ripley's Believe It or Not, a holonet series produced by the Galactic Museum.

The docuseries is educational in nature, directed mainly toward those of university age as well as those who spend too much time scrolling through channels. The museum amuses her, however, by allowing her to film a second segment for the series: Ripley's Believe It or Not: Ghosts and Ghouls of the Galaxy. Many tune into this segment of the holonet series for nothing more than a weekly laugh, but the ridicule has not dissuaded Ripley from her work.

Personality

Ripley is a driven individual, often singular in her pursuits at the neglect of those around her and to her other responsibilities. She takes her work very seriously and is often accused by those closest to her (her brother chief among them) that she "cares more for the dead than for the living." She is confident and not easily swayed by the opinion or input of others. Ripley likes to think she inherited the Arkanian's natural inclination toward extreme intelligence.

Abilities

Ripley has the ability to communicate and interact with ghosts and to learn the history of places and objects through touch. She has no knowledge of her sensitivity to the force, and she is unaware that it is this sensitivity that allows her these abilities. Like most Arakanians, she is able to see into the infrared spectrum, an ability she finds to be particularly useful in the search for ghosts. She is fluent in both Arkanian and Galactic Basic and has picked up Binary and Twi'leki during her travels.
