Not for the first time, Moarae's caravan had stopped by Eufornis Major. The prosperous metropolis had been for the last century a beacon of sophistication and freedom in the Core Worlds. The planet's economy had been galvanized by modern scientific developments facilitating the extraction of a valuable combustible from the depths of the gas giant planet. As a result, many luxurious hotels had recently been erected on the surface of the station and it was in the lobby of one such hotel that Moarae was conducting her business for the time being.

The Vahla had initially been worried that she would be tossed out for disturbing paying customers, but she soon realized that as long as she dressed the part no hotel personnel would come to bother her. She had adorned her finest garments: a large sheet of scarlet fabric that draped her from shoulders to toes in the latest New Alderaanian fashion. While this might not have been the most flattering for her silhouette, at least she didn't risk been mistaken for a more disreputable kind of solicitor.

Nonchalantly shuffling the cards in her hands feeling their energy rippling against hers, Moarae rested against a column near the foyer. She scrutinized the passerby hoping that one would catch her eye.

She always knew how to identify prospective clients: the lost, the broken, and the disheartened were particularly drawn to her like so many misaligned satellites gravitating around a star. Of course, there were always the odd ones out; the bold and the successful who found themselves in need of guidance or perhaps just sought diversion from the bustling of their everyday life. Somehow, these always ended the most interesting readings for the cards could not reflect what wasn't already part of the self.

Gazing through the glazed curtain wall that served as the front of the opulent building, Moarae considered heading back to her ship for the night. Her gaze lingered at the myriad of clouds above, lost in the rhythmic dance of ephemeral waves coalescing into one another, her face aglow with the last orange rays before twilight beckons the sky.

Trys knew this entire idea was ridiculous. She didn’t believe in such things. However, until she met Jedi in person, she thought they were a myth too. Her concept of what could be real or not had been completely rattled especially since her own head was infiltrated by Sith. It took a Jedi to yank her out of that space, and she knew that it was foolish to act like the Force and other phenomena didn’t exist.

The Ranger smoked a cigarra as she made her way over to the hotel. The regulations for smoking were slightly more lax here, and she took full advantage of that. Trys was dressed in civilian attire consisting of a leather jacket, jeans and boots. Black studs lined up the length of her ears, and her badge was out of view for now. She gazed up at the building as she blew out a cloud of smoke, thinking about how absurd she would have found this entire situation just a few years ago.

With a sigh, Trys looked down at the tacky, colorful pamphlet in her hand that advertised a medium and fortune teller. It all sounded completely phony, but she was ready to turn to anything to solve the Flower Killer mystery. Her last near death encounter suggested that he was a Force user. More victims turned up since, all with purple flowers in their mouths. The potential for saving lives mattered far more than her own skepticism against supernatural concepts. She discarded the cigarra.

Trys walked in and moved towards where the woman was set up. There wasn’t anyone in line and she strode right up to the woman.

“Hi, are you,” She glanced down at the pamphlet and then up again, “Magnificent Moarae?”

Moarae sensed, rather than saw the woman that soon presented herself to her tearing her out of her reveries. There was much turmoil in her mind, within her heart, and even in the depths of her soul which contrasted her habiliments and self-assured demeanor, reminiscent of the smugglers the Vahla frequently encountered with her fleet. Yet there was something different about her; she looked–there was no other word for it–cool.

"Oh please, just call me Moarae," she replied embarrassedly, her darker complexion concealing her blushing. Her new potential customer had used the stage name her grandmother, the author of the gaudy brochure the woman clasped in her hands, had been trying to get her to adopt for years. Perhaps her elder had decided to be a little more proactive in forcing her pupil to bend to her ridiculous whim. Moarae pushed the matter aside, resolving to have a stern discussion with her grandmother later that night. "And, you are?"

"You've come for a reading, I presume?" the cartomancer said inviting the client to take place in one of the two gold-adorned voluptuous velvet chairs to her right. Not giving her time to repudiate her offer, Moarae rapidly moved to the closest seat.

"You do seem quite lost..." the Vahla added pausing to peer through the black of her eyes and trying to see what lay beneath, "in more ways than one. We should get started right away."

"We will need to find you a significator. I generally used The Equilibrium for officers of the law," she explained tilting her head to indicate the service badge, "but I think The Astrolabe would suit you better." She frantically rummaged through her deck finally resting on an ivory card that depicted the primitive model astronomers to represent the galaxy and presenting it to the other woman to observe. When that card showed up in a reading it generally meant that the querent needed to stay on target, headed towards their goal with determination, avoiding distractions, and overcoming pitfalls. As a significator, it described someone headstrong, often to a fault.

Trys opened her mouth to answer that she had no desire for readings, but the woman was already talking. In order to be polite, she stood there and stayed quiet during the shpiel. A single eyebrow rose as Moarae suggested she was lost. No shit, she probably told most people that.

As if that weren’t bad enough, the woman went on to speak a bunch of jargon that made no sense. Astrolabe? Sounded like some sort of sex product. Trys stuffed her hands into her pockets, managing a forced smile as she glanced down at the card she had drawn up. She blinked for a few seconds.

“Fascinating,” She said without asking for an interpretation, “But I’m really loo-” Trys looked up to gaze at the woman. Or girl, really. She was just a kid and she looked pretty excited to be doing this. With a sigh, she managed a grin, “All right, what does this card mean?”

When Moarae explained, Trys couldn’t help but stare blankly, “Okay headstrong. So what? What else does it mean? Like can you tell stuff like if I'm gonna be hit by a bus tomorrow or something?”
