Only in funding. Black elements aren't recognized by the army should they fail.

No, they're part of the United States Army in more than just funding. They are headquartered at an Army base, they are recruited from the Rangers and Green Berets, still hold regular military rank, and are subordinate to the top-most members of the Army (the JCS, USARSOC, USSOCOM, etc.).

That being said, they do not belong in the same military bureaucracy. If a Delta Force team is embedded in a military unit, the unit has no authority over the team

I Just talked to Jiang to clear it up.

As again, solag is based on the S.A special forces from mass effect, though modified a bit.

lets say.. B1 is the vocational code http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Systems_AllianceThe " B" designates the special forces specialization and the "1" refers to the highest level of proficiency. It applies to Republic marines/rangers who have undergone elite training as part of Solag.

so that said on the books there would be " Colonel Abele Helena vocational -C8 "

Outside of Solag operations she is a colonel...

Solag " as a quirk within themselves" have ignored the rank system in favor of their vocational.

there will be times in which solag will have to be called upon to have a member or two take command of and work with scrubs outside of solag operations.

why?

because unlike a real military we only have a small X amount of people who can command missions in the RP

look at ME again, where jaing borrowed the initial system:

" Commander" Shepard " N7"
when operating with scrubs, s/he is a Commander but in a group of other N's s/he would be classed by his/er 7 achievement"

1 does not refer to the highest level of proficiency, it refers to the lowest.

And if it's an OOC measure, sure. There's no point arguing.

I got the numbers juxtapose no bigie

other than that nothing has changed I just re-enforced it after having it verified by the creator and would have minimal bearing unless there is a need to pull someone to command something- which is also why during the reset I wanted to sit with the grand admiral and work out rank promotions under the stock classifications, and leaving the option up to the Solag commanding officer to decide if there is to be any promoting in class there.

Useful. You'll be recruited sometime during the in-universe time-skip.

You could always happen to stumble into our group on a mission. We're doing a raid on a slave-carrying pirate ship, it'll probably get into motion tomorrow; how do you feel about being a prisoner that we rescue or something of the sort? Say your unit was captured by the pirates or something to that extent.

3) Zauriel's reason for becoming a commando and soldier is due to a vow he made at his brother's funeral, which is to live out and accomplish the dream that his brother was unable to survive to see. Hence, Zauriel fights as a commando to see the Republic safe in his elder brother's place.
