Republic Commando Sign-Up Thread

* please note for now please do not transfer to S.O.L.A.G from the regular Navy/Army, if you wish to join, seek permission and create a new character for the position.

This is due to the simple reason that there is a depletion in our general forces. Solag is " the best of the best" and should, and will in no way over shadow the size or operational ability of the Navy/army. They are needed in much greater number, and with a tipped balance there is no good way to hold battles with0ut disbanding Solag to fill the vacant forces, so this measure it to insure that is not needed.

I haz a question that was never answered. Would it be possible for my S13 character to transfer to SOLAG? He would fit in way better there, he is a former commando.

I've got two ideas in my head right now; one for a big bruiser who's physically intimidating but all-in-all a jack-of-all-trades shooter type, whereas the other one is a country-bumpkin who is highly skilled with demolitions/explosives.

I would recommend the jack-of-all-trades character. RepCom operatives are highly-skilled, and they are elite, but they aren't necessarily specialists. You've got to react - and react fast - to any threat the battlefield throws at you. This doesn't necessarily mean dodging bullets; diplomacy is fully under the scope of the SOLAG, and some battlefields involve senators and padded leather chairs.

That's just my input, though. You're here to make your own experience; whoever you choose to flesh out will work out great!

1) first, are we to assume we have already made it through all of the training necessary to become commandos? I just wonder in terms of what to include in my character's background.

2) second, didn't someone used to have a thread with equipment/weapons in use by the republic military? I was hoping to have a general idea of what sorts of weaponry my guy would be using.

1) Yes, ignore everything I said previously.

Reason: Gar's a helluva soldier who really thrives on the "brothers in arms" camaraderie. Joining the Army has been a second chance for him, and he wants to repay his debt by being the best he can be.
Back Story: Gang-Banger turned Soldier. Grew up in the slums of Coruscant, joined a gang, went to jail after turning in his gang for some terrible ish. Got shot by gang after getting out of jail, joined army to get away from gang. Turned out to be a natural born killin' machine! But seriously, I just typed up his entire back story on his profile page and my hand is killing me. If you want more info I will edit it in.

NAME: Corporal John Gray (currently in the Republic Army)

REASON: Assuming he survives the action on Bothawui and is extracted I like the idea of him being persuaded (read conscripted) into SOLAG. Also, Tarus asked me to and I could hardly say no :3

BACK-STORY: Originally a Huttese private who became disenchanted with his government, he defected/deserted (depending upon your opinion - he thinks defected) and ran to the Republic. He signed up to the Army, and although he originally had to put up with suspicion from his comrades he rose above them, earning their respect and eventually earning the nickname "Spectre".

He latest mission was as part of the disaster on Bothawui. His unit was one of the many left behind by the Republican retreat, and has since been fighting it out with the Huttese occupancy, utilising Guerilla tactics and covert operations.

3) Reasons for being a Commando - Darren wants to become a member of SOLAG to be the best of the best. He also wants the more technical training for becoming a member of SOLAG, making him a better solider.
4) Brief backstory [Optional, less than 2 paragraphs please] - Darren is your average solider. And that is it. Once Darren learned of SOLAG, he wanted in. Immediately. He wanted the intense training to become a better solider. He also liked the idea of becoming part of the best of the best. After all, who doesn't want to be the best at what they do?

Her original military designation was a Sniper in the Republic Army before being promoted to a higher rank. She eventually transferred from the military to the RSF to infiltrate Jade Galactic. Her mission successful she escaped Jade with information on internal structure and training. She is a supreme operative and capable of filling most roles in a team.

Reason: Hiachi is an honorable warrior who left his planet and joined the Republic army to fight against the Hutts, and now he decided to move to SOLAG since he fits more in being a commando who is loyal enough and ready to sacrifice his life for the Republic.
Background: A tough warrior who was trained to hunt, and fight since he was a kid. After he grew up he finally decided to leave his planet, and join the Republic forces.
