OOC Note: After the destruction of Firrerr

New Alderaan was a home away from home for Jedi Councilor Alexandria Voran…if one’s home often involved being shot at, fighting infected, and investigating Dark side cults. Max’s dream had been to open a Temple in the heart of New Alderaan. A shinny example of the health of the Jedi Order. Alex had been trying desperately to make that dream a reality. It had proven more difficult than anticipated. Still, she would not give up hope. Her recent meeting with the Supreme Chancellor had opened the future. Alex prayed the meeting she walked into now would yield much the same result. The destruction Firrerre rang like an open wound in her chest. She could feel it across the galaxy. The Force wept with death of millions. Alex was forced to closer her mind to shut out the pain.

The war had changed but she did not know why. Stolas was aggressive in his pursuit of an Empire. He was never this destructive. The Sith Lord conquered but did not annihilate. Firrerre was total annihilation and Stolas had claimed no credit. This was new. An alteration she did not understand. Alex needed to redouble her efforts. The Jedi needed more than a Temple on New Alderaan. They needed more than a passing agreement with the Free World Alliance. Emil swore the Republic would fight the tyranny of the Sith. Alex would push the FWA to do the same. If this proved anything, it was that the galaxy would only survive if the united.

So, the Morellian Councilor waited outside the offices of Senator Nicolas Clement. The young New Alderaanian Senator had agreed to meet with her. For what she knew, the man was of a similar mind, and he held sway within the FWA. He was a man of action and right now, the galaxy needed action.

This was awful. A whole world put to the torch, glassed. Nicolas Clément never thought he'd live in a time where someone would do something so murderous and barbaric to a whole world of people living there. It came from out of nowhere, no one knew anything before it was too late. As far as Nicolas knew, this could have happened to any world, even his. This event brought to mind the Disaster, the Hosnian Catacylsm, and the destruction of Kijimi with it's sheer barbarity. To be honest, it didn't matter whether or not Firrerre was a FWA, Rrepublic, or Consortium world. No words.

Nicolas would then open the door to let the Jedi Councilor inside. After hearing about Firrerre he didn't waste any time contacting the Jedi. "Hello there, thanks for for coming on such short notice Master Jedi." he nodded his head "Please come inside", he would gesture her in. Although normally Nicolas would be warm and welcoming and he'd want to be, but with recent events time is on the essence and he is stressed to get things into place with New Alderaan and the FWA.

He would gesture her to a seat in front of his desk, and then Nicolas would take his seat at his desk. Nicolas would sigh before he would get started. "So, first of all. Nice to meet you Councilor Voran. I have been made aware of your exploits here, and we are thankful for the Jedi's help." he nodded his head, sincerely thankful. "New Alderaan will always support the Jedi, and you are welcome to build a temple here in New Aldera at any time" he declared to her. Nicolas meant that as well, the people of New Alderaan and it's governement are supportive of the Jedi. They do good and have done so for centuries. It was the Jedi who ended the Empire and the First & Final Orders. Plus Nicolas was friends with the late Jed Master Max Tionson, and that's what he wanted, it was a shame how good man such as him fell in battle, but his wish should be fulfilled.

Anyways with that being said, it's time to move towards the main reason they are here. "So the situation with Fierrere... the Sith are taking their warpath to the next level. I'm working on plans to increase shipyard production, coordinating with a number of Senators of FWA worlds, and the the New Alderaan President now has us on full alert. We will ready ourselves against the Sith if they come here." he wanted to make that clear. The orginal Alderaan was a peaceful planet with no weapons at the time of it's destruction. This New Alderaan is ready and willing to to defend itself. "We want to help each other out right? So first of all: How can we help you" he would post the question to the Jedi Councilor. The Jedi have fought the Sith for many generations have they? They know how to fight them best more than anyone.

Alex smiled as Nicolas opened the door. “A pleasure to meet you as well, Senator.” Nicolas had a reputation of being a good man. The galaxy seemed to have fewer and fewer of those these days. The young Senator wasted no time in jumping into the details. She appreciated that sentiment. Under different circumstances there was a certain level of decorum that needed to be observed. Watching an entire world burn threw most social convention out the window. Nicolas spoke for New Alderaan, and Alex for the Jedi. They had work to do.

The mention of the Temple did throw her off guard. She had not expected the offer of the Temple. Alex had been working towards that goal for nearly years at this point. Since that first time she stepped on New Alderaan with Max. A dream suddenly became a reality. It was only through her training the Jedi Councilor managed to restrain her surprise. “Thank you.” Her words were unmistakably sincere. “We will begin preparations for the Temple immediately.” Alex would contact Yavin as soon as her meeting with Nicolas was complete. There would be much work to be done.

She quickly shifted her thoughts back to the conversation. “Cards on the table, Senator.” This was no time for political games. “I’ve had this conversation with Supreme Chancellor Ro.” She leaned forward. The Force rang against her senses as she met Nicolas’ eye. Another one? “We have fought the Sith for centuries. Until Firrerre, much of the galaxy saw little difference between us. We were but ancient religions continuing our holy war.” Alex leaned back, sighing. “We made mistakes that played into their hands…but now the galaxy sees the truth. The Sith are evil and seek only destruction.” So many foolish mistakes. “But we are not an army. The Jedi Order cannot marshal the military might of the Sith Eternal and we shouldn’t.” She continued to believe militarization would be the end of them. “But we need resources, and we need coordination. We need to be able to stand against the Sith without fear of what transpired on Taris.” The betrayal of the Tarisian oligarchs was well known. The Jedi had no ground forces and had been turned on by the Taris government. That was the fear they now combatted.

Nicolas nodded as she spoke true, he knew the from the onset that the Sith are not here to play nice. The Sith have been evil for thousand of years and why would now be any different? There are those like Darth Stolas that would fool others into thinking they are harbingers of prosperity, but are actually mere tyrants. Nicolas did frown with the mention of Taris, he heard of that. The leaders suddenly folding and turning on the very people who sought to protect their world. They could have repelled the invaders if they kept resisting...

Anyways, the Jedi need resources? They got it. They want reliable allies who won't turn on them at the bat of an eye, they got it. Nicolas would nod. "Of course. Resources, we will be happy to share what we can. Coordination? Of course. And I can assure you that what happened on Taris will not happen here on New Alderaan" he simply stated.

He also heard from her that she spoke to the Supreme Chancellor. Nicolas was interested to know what exactly was discussed or if anything was agreed on. Nicolas has become quite irritated with some of the Republic's antics since he was elected, he too found it strange that he quoted Palpatine word for word in his big election speech. "Hmmm, may I ask what exactly you discussed with the good Chancellor?". Nicolas has been honest and forthcoming with the Jedi Councilor, he would hope she would do the same here.

Alex’s eye widened slightly in surprise. She had not expected such quick cooperation. It was a welcome change of pace. For once, an ally who did not hesitate or hedge. An ally who believed in the Jedi. “Alderaan and the Jedi have always stood by one another, I am pleased we will again.” No partnership was ever perfect. Alex was well aware of the growing tension between the New Republic and Free Worlds Alliance. The Order did not have the luxury of turning away aid. Nicolas had been honest with her and so Alex chose honesty. She could feel he expected it from her. The Senator did not know her well, but he would learn she was a woman of her word…to a fault.

“Much the same as what you and I have discussed here. Safety for the Jedi on Republic worlds, a haven on Mataou once the infected are cleared, and reopening the Temple on Coruscant.” She shrugged. “Only some of that the Chancellor could guarantee but it is a start.” Her eyes came back to him. “I understand the tension between the Republic and the FWA, but the Order needs friends and the galaxy can only fight the Sith if we are united.” Conviction rang clearly in her voice.

“I was clear with the Chancellor, and I will continue to be clear, we will not return to the past. The intertwining of the Old Republic and the Order was their downfall. We serve the entire galaxy, Senator, not just Republic worlds.” She smiled softly. “I’m not a very good politician, so you can believe me.” Alex meant every word. She wanted the Jedi to intertwin with the militaries of the galaxy but never command them. They needed flexibility and they needed to fight together.

"Indeed!" Nicolas smiled and said in response to the friendship between the Alderaans' - the old and the new - ties with the Jedi. On this Alderaan and the last, it's perhaps their values that lend it gravitating towards the Jedi. Not to mention the late Princess/General Leia's relationship with the Jedi as well.

So onto the topic of the Republic. So apparently the Temple of Coruscant is re-opening. That's interesting to know. The old Imperial Palace... Just thinking of it gives Nicolas the creeps. But anyways, the Republic and the Jedi seem to be building up a relationship of their own again. Can't say he blames them.

"That's fine, I understand. And I believe you." he nodded his head "I just wanted to be sure of your current relationship with the Republic. I believe we both want the same thing in defeating the Sith for all time. I believe the Republic wants that too, but I don't think they have our interests in mind at all. I'm hoping that there won't be a political tug-of-war between between the Free Worlds, the Republic with the Jedi in the middle" he said that in an honest way. He believes the Jedi want to serve both, but what if these tensions end up going over a boiling point... what would the Jedi do then he wondered. If she's not a very good politician as she said, then that maybe problematic.

“The future is uncertain, Senator.” Now more than ever the path twisted and weaved in the Force. No matter how hard she looked, there was no clear ending. Too many choices, too many variables. “We all want the same thing. The Sith gone, our people safe, and the galaxy at peace.” Alex knew the interests of the Republic and FWA were aligned. They did want what was best. It was just a matter of keeping them all together. She knew the challenged and was prepared to meet it head on.

“I know there is a reason the Free Worlds Alliance exists and is not an extension of the Republic. Your planets value their independence, and it should remain that way, but we won’t win the war without the Republic.” Alex returned to face him again. “I can only promise I will do all I can to see an alliance between the Republic, the FWA and the Jedi succeed. I will not ask anyone to sacrifice their beliefs for victory.”

Alex’s voice grew slightly softer. “I swear.” She would see the galaxy ready for war. No matter what it took, she would make the sacrifices she dared not ask of others. That was her responsibility. That was her life. Sacrifice so that others would not.
