“I took him, and a dozen students, and began a training temple.”
―Luke Skywalker, to Rey

A Jedi temple was used by Jedi Master Luke Skywalker to train a new generation of Jedi during the New Republic Era. Following a confrontation between Skywalker and Ben Solo, his apprentice and nephew, the temple was destroyed by Ben Solo with a powerful lightning storm.

The Order has had a couple of notable training sites for the next generation of Jedi – and this proposed construction is not intended to replace them – but to offer an alternative. And one with a distinct advantage when it comes to the battle with the Sith…its location will be secret.

As the role of the Jedi becomes ever more public, it makes sense to have multiple places for them to be trained as a greater number than more recent times will be required. This site will become precisely what it sets out to be – an Academy. The Council will logically continue to reside elsewhere – although facilities will be built to allow them to use the secret location as a base if required.

The Temple Missions: It’s only theft if you steal something
The planet’s actual location, despite being known of (within the Jedi circles), is unknown. But recent intelligence suggests there is a rumoured artefact held by a private collector who loves all things from the New Republic era. And they are oblivious of its true purpose. The objective? To get in, find the artefact, identify the location of the planet and get out (leaving the star map behind). Ideally without breaking any laws (or other artefacts for that matter).
Notes: Expect top level security on a private estate

The Temple Missions: I thought gundarks were only found on Vanqor!
The planet is now known, but the actual site of the former temple is not – and given it was laid waste by Ben Solo, it could take some finding. A team is therefore assigned to the planet to scout for the ruins.
Notes: The planet may be uninhabited, but that doesn’t mean it is unoccupied. As (bad) luck would have it, a nest of gundarks have taken up residence and need to be convinced to leave the vicinity before any work on the temple can begin

The Temple Missions: Ferrocrete and honest labour
A construction company has agreed to supply the necessary equipment and materials to build the temple – but at a price. The CEO’s daughter is believed to have fallen in with a Dark-sided cult and although not conditional on the goodwill gesture, it would definitely ensure top quality materials will be provided as swiftly as possible if she could be returned.
Notes: Of course, nobody that joins a cult thinks they are being hoodwinked and will no doubt see the Jedi as the bad guys. Excessive use of force to liberate her will only reinforce her belief that she had joined the ‘good guys’

The Temple Missions: Pirates ahoy

Even mundane items like construction materials and equipment have a value and pirates care little for what the cargo is – as long as it can be re-sold for a profit. The shipment is only vulnerable before it enters hyperspace – and logic says no pirate would take on the Jedi. But since when have pirates been smart?
Notes: Those present to escort the cargo will be a small force and will engage fighters, looking to disable the ship so it can be boarded and looted (with a larger cargo ship waiting in hiding to collect the booty)

The Temple Missions: There’s always a bad apple
Keeping the location of the planet secret will always be a challenge – but rumours of what the Jedi are up to has reached the galactic grapevine. Intelligence says one of the workers on site is actually undercover, looking to identify the planet’s location – to sell to the highest bidder.
Notes: All precautions have been taken to ensure those working on the site do not carry anything that could identify the planet’s location – but maybe an enterprising spy slipped something through the checks? The task is simple, find the bad apple and ensure he (or she) does not share any details of the planet’s location

The Temple Missions: The cupboard was bare
Having a brand new building is one thing, but without taking everything the Jedi already own from the other locations, there will be precious little to teach Younglings and Padawans with. It’s time to scour the galaxy for datacrons, texts or even statues from former Jedi sites to furnish the Temple.
Notes: This could be a single thread or multiple – or just a very, very long one – depending how ambitious and interested people are. We’re not expecting to find Yoda’s eyelashes or anything significant, but either generic fluff or low-level canon items would be welcome

The Temple Missions: Grand opening
When (not if) the other missions are complete, it will be time to officially open the new Temple. All Jedi are welcome to attend for what is essentially a social gathering (and maybe an opening speech by one of the Jedi Council).
Assigned: Open to all

This came about after a conversation with @TWD26

If anyone has a better idea for a new mission/thread idea, just let me know. If anybody wants to pursue this story idea then please let me know down below with your character info and all the usual good stuff.

These are currently thread ideas (not set in stone) and are not just missions to complete to create a temple. They might turn into long and intricate threads (especially if people are having a good time writing them) or inspire future threads or story ideas (at least I hope so). Similarly, if anyone wants to introduce some PvP opposition to a thread or use dice to determine success, I’m entirely happy with this approach too.

I’ll leave this alone over the festive period, to give people time to review, input etc. and respond formally in the New Year.

@Corbeau, that's a pretty big project you have planned! Perhaps splitting it into smaller packs / lowering the number of threads could help make it more attainable.

Regardless of your decision, @Lani Tallis is now available for various Jedi stuff and would be glad to help anywhere she's needed ;)
