Corvo hadn't quite been able to believe it when Shae had pulled him out of the falling destroyer. He'd been certain he was going to die going into that fight, never to see wife or daughter again, but then Shae came through just one more time.

They'd crashed down on Jakku and it hadn't been long before Corvo had lost consciousness. When he came to again, he was feeling better than before, but his entire body still ached and burned. He had pains he didn't know were possible, but he was alive and that was a massive step in the right direction. He reached into his belt and pulled out his stim, slamming it into his leg. The pain dulled and his mind became more alert to his surroundings, though he pushed himself up with some struggle.

He pulled his helmet off and wandered out of the pod, blinking and looking around for his wife, hoping something hadn't happened while he was unconscious. Shae? he asked, voice sounding abnormally hoarse and weak. He cleared his throat, speaking up louder. Shae, are you... where are you?

He reached back for his sabers but didn't find them, only the Force-forged dagger he'd made so many years ago. He realized the sabers were lost in the fight and he let out a sigh. With that thought, though, also came the realization that it was over. The Emperor was dead, his wife was safe and returned to him, the Sith were... defeated? He'd been so consumed by his own vengeance since his wife's capture that he barely knew how to process this and he stumbled back against the wall of the pod, sliding to the ground and looking up at the sky, still lit up with debris and raining death.

Shae was still dazed from the landing, though she wasn’t unconscious like Corvo was. As soon as the pod landed on the planet, she shoved her way out to go look for any supplies. The planet was a warzone, and she knew there would be transports or anything around to help them out. Despite not wanting to leave him behind, for now she knew getting more help was priority.

A quick look around in the desert planet told her they landed near some sort of settlement. They were away from any immediate fight zones, though she saw some abandoned vehicles here and there. It appeared as if the Sith troopers had used this area as a temporary resting spot before continuing onward.

There was a storm raging above, and she knew they couldn’t linger here for too long. The destroyer would have plummeted to the ground in a big crash by now, and whatever Malon planned to unleash would soon reach every corner of the planet. Shae hastily made her way into the town, using her powers of persuasion to obtain some medical supplies and rations.

By the time she came back, Corvo had come to and was slumped against the side of the pod, “You should stay inside!” She rushed towards him, crouching next to him as she pulled out the bacta and began to apply it to his wounds. Shae tore open the front of his shirt and began to practically pour salve on it. She then began to tug at his sleeve, noticing that it more or less stuck to the skin. With horror, she kept pulling as gently as she could, realizing how mangled and destroyed his left arm was. Tears welled up in her eyes at the sight, “Honey….your…oh gods…” She couldn’t bear to keep pulling the sleeve away, knowing the arm was beyond any repair.

“It’ll be okay…” She managed a sad smile, looking at him briefly before wrapping her arms around him to pull him into an embrace, “I meant what I said, Corvo,” She buried her face into the crook of his neck, “It’ll be just us away from everything. Even….” Her voice shuddered, “Even…if that includes our baby girl..”

Corvo almost felt as if he were in a dream when Shae came back. Everything felt odd and he couldn't help but wonder if it was some sort of head injury. As she rushed back to help him with his arm, he couldn't help smiling, always happy to see her and feeling a little bit woozy still. That didn't last long as she began pulling at his sleeve, the skin of his arm peeling off as she did. He groaned in pain and took in a sharp breath, wincing as she continued, horrible pain spreading up his arm.

That... that bad, huh? he asked, looking at the tears filling her eyes. He looked down for the briefest of moments and winced, seeing the blackened flesh of his arm. His breathing quickened and he had to look away. His other arm reached up to wrap around her as she hugged him and he kissed her neck. I love you so much.

He winced as she mentioned leaving Ciri. He wasn't sure he could bring himself to do that to his daughter. But... we need to at least tell her we're alive... but before he continued, he realized this wasn't the best time to argue about it. We need to get out of here first, though. The galaxy can sort out its own issues. I want you... and I'll probably need a doctor, he added quietly as a complete understatement, trying to push himself up. He looked up at the sky through the trees that already seemed to be dying from the Emperor's ritual.

Everything is changing. I don't know what Malon did, but this place will be desolate, although his face was in stark contrast to the grim words. There was a look of happiness there. But we did it, love. We stopped him, he couldn't help but hug her again, the thrill of having her back completely overwhelming him. I won't leave you again, he told her. He wanted to spend the rest of his days at her side.

Shae was full out crying by now, his words confirming that this was all real. The Emperor was dead, the Jedi had won, and from the looks of it, the war was over. As she held him, she realized he was truly here, and they both survived it all, “I thought I was going to lose you, Corvo… I thought I… ugh I made so many mistakes,” She sighed as she shut herself up, leaning in to kiss him to stop her train of thoughts.

After a moment, she grabbed his good arm and attempted to help him up to his feet, “Can you stand? We need to find a way off this planet,” Shae looked up at the sky, the clouds churning and electricity streaking across. She knew they weren’t completely out of the woods yet, not until they were off the planet. Furthermore, they had to do it all anonymously. They couldn’t very well escape the galaxy if their faces were seen.

Shae helped put Corvo’s helmet back on, popping hers on to obscure their identities. Their comms were still buzzing, but they were forced to ignore it. She supported him as she made her way away from the pod, her feet sinking into the desert, “Were you so ready to throw your life away fighting Malon?” She gazed ahead at the town in front of them. It was a poverty stricken place with huts and clay houses, people swiftly working to evacuate the planet.

“We have to find a ship!” She avoided glancing down at his arm, the sight of it causing her pain. She couldn’t even imagine how much agony he was in, but she knew he wouldn’t ever let anyone know that, “Almost there, love. Just stay with me.”

He recieved her kiss thankfully. I thought I'd lost you too, he said, a part of him hoping she would never leave him again. But even now, he could feel something had changed in her. She'd finally found her place in the galaxy. Just don't ever leave me again, he said, holding her closely.

He nodded as she helped him up, groaning in pain but getting up. She helped him slip his helmet back on and they were on their way. This is pretty bad, isn't it? he asked as he glanced down at his arm, unable to even open or close his hand. The realization that the full circumferential burns meant he'd probably lose it set in and he tried to push it out of his mind.

I couldn't let him have Ciri... or you, he confessed. He'd spent years trying to put his monstrous past behind him and he wanted the galaxy free of the darkness of the Emperor. He wanted the monster to stop pursuing his family. He wanted them to be safe again. ...no matter the cost.

They came into the small town and he began looking around. While he wasn't very thrilled about stealing from already poor people, desperate times called for desperate measures. His entire body burned as they made their way forward and he all but collapsed against the wall of a building. I'm sorry, love, I'm... pretty useless right now, he admitted.

He struggled to get his datapad off of his right arm to see if he could find any recon flyovers of the area to help her. I'll just slow you down but I can guide you on coms from here, he said. Do you still have a saber? he asked, nodding his head toward the short sword on his belt if she needed a weapon. When he finally got his datapad in hand, he flipped it on and zoomed in on a small ship to the edge of the city nearest their position. This is probably our best bet... it doesn't look very nice, but it should get us off world, he said. It was near a small hut that he guessed owned it. Love, be careful... I didn't come all this way just to lose you now, he said. Of course, he knew it was silly, a civilian wasn't going to do her in, but he never felt good about leaving her to go into combat by herself, he always wanted to have her back.

Shae gasped as he collapsed again, and she began to regret the decision to move him at once. She almost went to comm Chaz, but she knew that wasn’t an option anymore. For better or for worse, it was just the two of them now. There was a sinking feeling at the pit of her stomach as he told her he was useless right now, something she never thought she’d hear him say. Nevertheless, she knew he was carrying around an arm that would need to be amputated later, and she couldn’t expect him to keep up more than he already was. Shae nodded as she eased him down, “I’m going to see if I can’t hijack an Imperial transport to get us out of here. I’ll have a much easier time getting out with one of those.”

She helped get his datapad out, leaning in to give him one last tight hug before she rose to her feet. She glanced at him slumped over weak and she wanted nothing more than to run back to him. The urgency of the situation became apparently after thunder roiled and cracked above, the skies going dark. The winds were almost enough to take her off her feet, and she had to plant herself firmly to the ground before she could keep moving.

“Corvo can you hear me?” She tapped into her comms as she made her way further into town, “A lot of people here are evacuating but…. I see a transport left behind by the Sith!” Shae looked around herself, noticing that people were entirely preoccupied with evacuating to pay her any heed. She made a beeline right towards the ship, “Let me know if you see any Imp-“ As she glanced up the exit ramp, she saw a trooper quickly approaching from the side. He was angrily muttering about getting off the planet.

“Hey! What do you think you’re doing!”

“Uh..” Shae barely had a chance to respond before he drew a pistol. She ignited her remaining saber, quickly deflecting the bolt and rushing in to face the trooper. The man quickly began to comm for backup, though he only got half a sentence out before she sliced her blade right through the hand holding it up. Corvo would no doubt hear there was a scuffle going on.

He hugged her back as she got ready to leave, his stomach churning horribly as she wandered away. He hated sending her out there. What was he doing? His foot tapped nervously along the ground. His eyes were pasted to the recon video when he heard her ask if he was there. I'm here, love, always he reassured her.

He nodded as she talked about there being another ship, though he realized she wouldn't be able to hear him. Okay, get it if you can, but no unnecessary risks, he reminded her, the always pestilent voice in her ear. It was mostly clear apart from a handful of civilians in the area moving to their own ships to escape. You're clear but there's another pair of... before he could tell her about the incoming pair of Legion troopers he heard the sound of a fight start.

No, no, no, Shae... no, he flew into typical panic mode and pushed himself to his feet, limping toward her position, datapad slipped into a belt pouch as he pulled the Force-forged sword from its sheathe. He came around the corner and saw the other two troopers responding to the call for reinforcements. Both had rifles up and firing at his wife. Command, we've got a Jedi down here, we're going to need air support or reinforcements, he said, though whether anyone else would come to help was a huge question right now.

One of the troopers began moving to the left to try to flank Shae as they both continued to fire. Corvo limped over, trying to sneak up on the flanker, swinging his blade in but a moment too slow. The trooper spun, catching the blade off his bracer and swinging his fist around to give Corvo a nice slug in the face that knocked him from his feet, though the blow was mostly absorbed by his helmet. At lest he wasn't shooting at Shae anymore. The man was swiveling his rifle around to try to bring it to bear against Corvo but was paying no attention anymore to Shae, leaving him open to a potential attack.

Shae deflected the rifle bolts as best she could, knowing she had limited time before more help came for the troopers. She focused her attention back on the handless trooper, the man momentarily distracted from pain. Shae wasted no time before slashing the saber across his chest, the man dropping at once. That was when she realized Corvo was nearby, glancing up in time to see him take a blow to the head that sent him sailing back.

“NO! No you stupid shit you have no idea what I went through to save him!” She came in swinging hard at the trooper that raised his rifle to fire again, “I came too damn far for you to take him away now!” Her saber cut through his torso, and she retracted it back and cut through a limb. There was no mercy in her attacks, a barrage of saber swings and slashes coming to dice the man limb from limb till he was a pile of body parts on the ground. At the end of it, Shae was panting heavily glancing up at Corvo, “Why’d you come here! I had this under control! Never mind, let’s get on the ship!”

She hastily made her way over to him, grasping him by the useful arm and yanking him to his feet. She could see troopers in the distance heading towards them, and panic began to set in. Shae rushed up the exit ramp, slamming on the console to close it behind her. She felt a bolt clash against her armor, piercing through it. She ignored it entirely, allowing the door to close behind them.

“I don’t really know how to fly!” Shae rushed over to plop down in the cockpit, motioning for Corvo to take the seat next to her, “Guide me through this if you can!” She felt utterly helpless without Chaz.

Corvo thought Shae was screaming at him at first as she swooped in and chopped the attacker to pieces. Though she had some choice words for him as well, he realized it wasn't particularly directed at him. He was glad to see that she saved him and pulled him up to his feet.

Gunshots rang out in the distance and he saw one slap against Shae, though he seemed more concerned about it than she did. Shae! Are you ok? but she was already moving on to flying the ship. He nodded as they headed to the cockpit. Yeah... I can, he nodded, sliding into the passenger seat next to her. He was nothing compared to Chaz and desperately hoped they didn't get into a dogfight, but he'd flown enough that they should be able to get out if they didn't have any issues.

He pulled his bad arm close to his chest and began flipping a series of switches in the cockpit. Grab the... wheel and pull back and up, he instructed, waiting for the ship to pitch up, likely roughly. Okay, that lever is to accelerate, he said, strapping into place as they pulled away and he began tapping at the navcomputer. Nar Shaddaa, he said, as he started making the calculations to where he had pieces of his contingency that they could use to disappear, though he didn't know if he'd need a doctor before that. They could probably get illegal prosthetics there, though, too.

Shae did as he asked, grimacing as the movements were jerky and wobbly. How did Chaz make it seem so easy? When he flew a ship, she could hardly tell when they were in the air or not, every bit of the journey exceptionally smooth. Shae managed to lift off and rise up into the air as blaster bolts fired against the hull.

She glanced over at Corvo, “You doing all right, hun?” She knew she only needed to get far enough to put the ship in autopilot. The storm was a thick layer above them, and up here it was pitch darkness. Shae grimaced as the entire ship began to vibrate and shake from the storm. The force of it sent them spiraling in the sky, and she had to scramble to regain control. Terror struck her as she fought to get back on track and exit the atmosphere.

The entire ship spiraled out of control and they were flung around, mercifully no other ships in the vicinity to collide against. Shae had to hold back the urge to vomit as thunder and lightning crackled all around them, “Hoooold ooooon!” She screamed at the top her lungs, feeling queasy until the ship abruptly lurched out of the storm and into space.

From here, she could still see Imperial and Jedi ships zooming all around them, though it was clear the empire was in disarray. It was then that she noticed the comms within the stolen ship was blaring news of Malon’s death. All ships were being called away from Jakku to regroup. After some jerky piloting, they finally entered hyperspace, shooting straight for Nar Shaddaa.

It was hours before Shae relaxed, finally slumping back in her seat. She glanced over at Corvo, reaching over to grasp his hand in hers. She managed a severely exhausted smile, realizing that they both looked absolutely miserable.

Corvo's eyes went wide as they reached the edge of the storm. The entire ship seemed to rock back and forth as if tossed around like a rag doll. It was extremely disconcerting and was tense and breathing heavily. Chaz might have been able to easily fly through this, but neither of them were expert pilots. I'm fine, he said, knuckles white on the armrest as he tried to appear normal.

She shouted to hold on, but he already was, clutching the armrest for dear life. It seemed like an eternity before they finally pulled clear from the storm and tore into the vacuum of space. Debris and sporadic laser fire filled the viewport but they moved on relatively unimpeded and away from the battle. He pointed to the hyperdrive lever for her to pull back and the sky turned to star streaks.

He sat back in his seat, eyes wide as he pulled his helmet off. Unlike Shae - and fairly uncharacteristically for him - he relaxed almost immediately, exhaustion taking over as he slipped into sleep. He awoke several hours later to Shae's hand in his and he smiled slightly, though pain immediately tore through his arm again as soon as he moved it. She looked as frazzled as he did and he realized how horrible of a husband he had been, so preoccupied with himself. Are you doing okay? he asked after a moment, squeezing her hand in his.

I can't believe it's done... I didn't think I'd make it through this war, he said quietly. Though it probably wouldn't be shocking to her, it was the first time he'd ever said the words out loud to her, but she knew him well enough to know he never thought he'd make it. We both made it, he said quietly, glad to have the person he cared about most at his side. That thought brought another to mind, though. We can't let Ciri think we're dead. She needs to stay with the Jedi for now, but she can't not know. She would have to be away from us either way for training, but... she needs to have hope. He couldn't imagine that leaving her completely alone was the right choice, even if they were separated for a time.

Shae remained quiet as Corvo slumbered, one of the few moments where he was truly relaxed and there was no stress on his face. She took the time to apply bacta and bandage his injured arm as best as she could, giving him a painkiller shot to allow him to relax. Though there was no saving the arm, she could still ensure he wasn’t in agony during the entire journey. She hadn’t had the chance to ask why he suggested Nar Shaddaa of all places, but she trusted he knew what he was doing.

When he finally came to, she was there with him, smiling warmly, “I’m always all right when I’m with you,” The smile faded slightly as he began to suggest how to tackle Ciri. For a long moment, she remained quiet, staring ahead at the spiral of hyperspace. She gently squeezed his hand before releasing it, sighing, “She is just a child, Corvo. She’d never understand why we have to leave. She’s got both of our stubbornness and she will demand to come with us. Or worse, she’ll loudly complain about it to others to get our attention and blow our cover.”

She had to bite back the tears, but they finally came, streaming down her face, “I don’t know the answer…I don’t know when to tell her or how…the world will be different for us,” Shae couldn’t bear to look at him, “We will have to leave our lives behind entirely. That means we can never be Jedi nor Sith again…we can’t use the Force and we can’t tap into the powers we know,” She looked at him at last, “Can you live with that choice?”[/abox]

Corvo smiled as he saw her looking back at him. There was a sense of completeness when he was with her that he had been desperately missing when she'd been gone. He kept holding her hand as she began to cry. That was the predicament they were both faced with. They had a daughter who they tried to raise while now fleeing from their own pasts.

Her words about leaving the Jedi and Sith cut a bit. He didn't know what he would do without this life, he'd only known this life since birth. What he knew was that it was all worth it to give up if he were with his wife. We'll make due, love. We'll find the way, but what I know is that it's all worth it as long as I'm with you, he said. Part of him wanted to take Ciri with them, but he knew she needed the Jedi. She could live a much better life with them than she could in exile. He wrapped his arm around her to comfort her as her tears flowed.

He sighed and shook his head. I can't let her think we're dead, Shae. Think about what that did to you... you felt so abandoned only to find your mom later... I don't think I can leave her in the dark. She needs to know, he said with another sigh, though he knew that would be tough. The problem was, he knew Shae made a point. Ciri would be a stinker, but they were her parents, right? They should be able to figure that out.

So, I bet you're wondering about Nar Shaddaa, he said, sitting up and changing the topic slightly. I had to find something to keep myself busy when you and Ciri went to the Jedi all those years ago, and when I was on Nar Shaddaa, I set up another full escape plan. Ship, IDs, bank accounts, everything we need to disappear. Not that we need to stay there, but we can pick it up and disappear, he said, pausing a moment at the last comment. So, where do we want to go? I... I don't even know how to be... well, anyway, where should we go? What should we do? I don't think there are any limits. What have you always wanted to do? he asked.

Shae simply smiled at him, “Shhh…too many questions at once. I’m tired and we need to figure out that arm. One thing at a time,” In truth, she was terrified and uncertain about their future. While it was true, they’d be together, Corvo was absolutely right in how awful she had felt regarding her own mother. Could she truly afford to do the same to Ciri knowingly?

Despite the war being over, there was no getting rid of the darkness that dwelled within both of them so easily. Years of emotions and ingrained rage had made them into who they were, and it wouldn’t go away overnight. They couldn’t expose Ciri to these sides of them that were inevitable. As she glanced at Corvo, she realized something was different about his presence…that the dark energy she felt so powerfully before was severely diminished. She would have to ask about that later.

After a while, they popped out of hyperspace and Shae had to take over the controls again. After some coaching from Corvo, she was able to jerkily ease them down to a landing bay in a less crowded district. Shae grabbed her helmet and put it on, turning to Corvo, “Keep your helmet off. You’re very recognizable with it on,” It was ironic, but he blended in far better with his face exposed.

She rose to her feet, lowering the exit ramp to allow them to venture out. Shae could immediately smell a hint of spice in the air as was normal around these parts. She could spot the usual scum and drunkards wandering about. As unappealing as the setting was, it was perfect for people wanting to blend in and avoid detection.

“Is there a medical bay we can safely get to?” She looked at his arm with a grimace, “That…is looking pretty awful.”

Corvo smiled sheepishly, realizing he was falling into his typical path. Whenever he was worried about his family, it was always a barrage of questions. It was a trait unique to his family and one that Shae always had the great privilege of suffering through. You're right, sorry, he said with a nod. He caught her looking at him with a hint of curiosity, but she said nothing and before he could pursue it, they were dropping out of hyperspace, the dark, twisted surface of Nar Shaddaa immediately filling the viewport.

He helped her guide down to the ground and they had a bit of a rough and bumpy landing but they made it. His arm felt worse and worse with each passing moment, but he kept pressing on, leaving his helmet behind as Shae slid hers on. Being on the run put his mind into "mission" mode and he felt naked not having his helmet on when he was on the job, but he knew she was right, though it didn't stop him from grunting quietly as they disembarked.

The smells of the world weren't at all dampened as he disembarked, the smell of spice immediately hitting his nose and causing him to grimace. Yeah, we'll need to find a med facility, he muttered, though she had just said that. He pressed on, half-stumbling through the streets of Nar Shaddaa toward the med facilities. Kriff, this hurts, he muttered as he looked down at his arm. It seemed to be looking much worse now, totally blackened with both a throbbing and burning pain.

Hey maaaan, you should try some of this for your pain, muttered some random man they were passing. Smoke was trailing away from his mouth as he said it, and he offered an unlit spice stick to Corvo. It was an uncharacteristically "nice" gesture from someone on Nar Shaddaa and he glanced at Shae to see what she thought. After a moment, he took the offered spice and the man lit it up as Corvo kept walking. Thanks, he said, not having taken a puff yet, glancing at Shae again to help him decide if this was a terrible idea.

Shae nodded as he mentioned needing to find a medical bay. Everything out here was sketchy and second rate, and any droids operating on him would no doubt be bootleg. However, the chances of him not being identified were also high. Shae kept her eyes trained for anywhere they could duck into, surprised when a man walked up to them to offer spice. She was even more shocked to see Corvo take the offer, her eyes widening as the man walked away.

“Are you crazy?” Shae gasped at the sight, “You never do drugs!” She chewed on her lip for a moment, glancing down at the mangled state of his arm and the pain that she could sense from him. It was almost tangible and it made even her ache. After a moment, she sighed, “Just…okay yeah..that might be your best bet till we find somewhere. Let’s hope it’s cheap stuff and doesn’t make you hallucinate…”

With that, she made her way down a side alley, following directions on her datapad for the nearest medical bay. To her dismay, it was revealed to be a makeshift facility made for people fighting in the local fighting rings. Nevertheless, it had a droid that was patching people up and she wandered in, grimacing at the stench. The waiting room was filled with injured combatants, though most of them looked minor.

Shae walked up to the female receptionist with hot pink hair, pointing to Corvo, “Um hi, I need someone to take a look at that..” The girl looked up, popping her bubblegum before lazily looking over at Corvo. Upon spotting his arm, she grimaced, “Yeesh!! What the hell did he do?!”

She typed in a few things, “What’s the name?”

Shae nervously looked at Corvo. What bullshit name did he have planned going forward?

Corvo wandered on, puffing on the smoking joint and scrunching his face up at the smell and flavor. It wasn't exactly something he would be making a habit of, but then the feeling of serenity began to set in. He took another puff, becoming even more relaxed as he did. Hmm, this isn't so bad... I guess ya know, I can see why people do this, he rambled, already beginning to sound not entirely like himself. At the very least, the pain had begun to subside and he walked on feeling much better.

He absentmindedly followed Shae until they came to a small medical-like facility. It looked to be the real cream of the crop with a completely legitimate-looking pink haired woman blowing bubble gum out front. Hmmmmm? he asked, swinging around to face her. Oh, name, yeah... he tried to remember the name on his fake ID in the area and then finally came up with it. Uh, yeah, Kaz Annix would be the name. Got banged up pretty bad, he said.

Yeah, we'll getcha in to see the doc, cutey, she said, tapping away at a datapad. Aight, room 3, she said. He followed her back to room 3 and the doctor quickly came in, spouting off things that he barely remembered with his now drug-addled brain. He heard words like "operation" and "amputation" but little more. Ma'am, we're going to have to take your husband's arm, he said, looking at Shae with a long face. For the right price, there are functional prosthetic replacements.... do you have funds? he asked as the nurses began putting Corvo under. Nar Shaddaa wasn't the "care and share" type and if they didn't have funds, they wouldn't be getting much more than the bare minimum. Count back from 10, please the nurse said. Corvo got to 8 and was completely unconscious as the surgeon finished talking to Shae.

Shae more or less ignored Corvo entirely as he blabbered on in his inebriated state. Truth be told, it was oddly fascinating. He had a stupid grin on his face, his eyes glazed over and he kept talking nonstop. This couldn't be further from what he was normally like, and she couldn't help but stare. As he produced a name out of thin air, she began to think of a name for herself. Apparently she was Mrs. Annix now, and she scowled as the receptionist stared at Corvo in a way that had nothing to do with his arm. Shae breathed in deeply, reminding herself that she couldn't be her old self anymore and put on a warm, supportive smile as they were led to the operating room.

The place looked dingy with low lighting, and she was half worried he would get some sort of infection. As the doctor blabbed on about amputations and surgery, Shae grimaced at the thought of it all. In the end, she nodded about the credits, watching them ease back an entirely too happy Corvo. As he was slowly knocked out, Shae stepped outside to allow the arm surgery to proceed. She couldn't help but pace back and forth, anxiety at its highest. What if they messed everything up? What if he got sick from this? After what felt like hours, she was finally allowed to go back inside. To her surprise, he looked well, though he was still asleep for now. She glanced down at his arm, seeing a metallic replacement there in its place. Shae sighed at the sight, walking over to brush her hand over the smooth surface, "Oh Corvo...." She glanced up at him, gently running her hand along the side of his face, "How do you feel?"

She could tell he was slowly coming to, and for how shady the place looked, they had done quite a good job on him. She knew things would be different for him without an arm, "Can you flex your fingers?"

Corvo was still not fully with it as Shae came in. His eyes opened slightly but they felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. He let out a quiet groan, not yet registering that he didn't have a hand and not too worried about it. Hrrrnggg, Shaae, is... that you? he said, forcing his head to the side to look at her. Oh hiiiii, he said with a smile, still caught up in the euphoria of medicine.

Is it sexy time? Is that what you're here for? he asked in a chipper voice. Oh, like, at Korriban... remember what we did there? Mmm, that was fuuuun, I wanna do that again, he muttered. His mind slowly began to clear at least enough for him to comprehend her questions, still a little happier than he should have been. I feel... mmm, I feel yeah... he said, making absolutely no sense.

Move my fingers? Sure, why not? he said, raising the completely wrong hand and shoving it excitedly in her face as he squeezed his fingers together as if holding a stress ball. Seeeeeee, working just fine! he said, not connecting that his other hand was still missing. He blinked a few times and looked down at his other hand, raising it right up to within two inches of his face. He lowered it quickly and looked at Shae with wide eyes. Shae... I think something's wrong with my hand!

Shae smiled as he finally came to, though she immediately frowned as he mentioned her name. The nurse paused, looking over, "Shae? I thought you said your name was Kina," Shae smiled sheepishly, preparing an answer when Corvo kept talking. She snapped back to look at him, her eyes massive and jaw dropping at the words coming out of his mouth. Her face grew hot and bright red, the nurse clearing her throat, "No, honey...erm... no sexy time.." This could not be happening right now! Did he have an off button?! She half wondered if she could simply knock him out again somehow to stop the word vomit. At last, he raised the wrong hand and wiggled the fingers about.

When he finally raised the right one, Shae knew he would begin to panic. She grasped his good hand and sat down on the bed next to him, "Sweetheart, I don't know how to lightly put this but...you don't have your other arm anymore..." She grimaced, realizing she delivered that with the subtlety of a sledgehammer, "You lost it in the battle with the Emperor. The Emperor is dead though! All is well! Hello?" She grasped his chin to make him look at her instead of at his robotic arm, "It'll be okay! It looks really cool. Besides, you can probably soup it up to do cool things or..." She remembered who she was talking to, "Add some sort of weapon to it!"

She hoped she was doing a good job of cheering him up as a panicked and chaotic Corvo was bad news for everyone. She leaned in to give him a hug, taking care not to brush against the newly attached prosthetic. After a moment, she pulled back and smiled, "You ready to get out of here, Kaz?"
