*A younger Raynor charging into battle in one of the many wars fought between clans on his home planet.

NAME: Raynor Cree
FACTION: Jedi Order
RANK: Jedi Knight
SPECIES: Barabel
AGE: 24
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 1.9 meters
WEIGHT: Muscular
EYES: Red (born with a rare birth defect allowing him to see in the light spectrum up to ultraviolent as opposed to just infrared)
HAIR: Hairless
SKIN: Jagged overlapping black Keratin scales
CREDITS: 1000 credits
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: A long partially prehensile tail marked by a sharp metal barb affixed to the tail tip.
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

Due to the often hunt and war dominated culture on Barab I, Raynor has trained his body to the peak of physical condition, his strength and agility in the hunt setting him apart from most of his clan except for his hatch mate and hunting partner, Relesa. Like most Barabels, Raynor is not exactly fitting the typical definition of charismatic: usually he brandishes his claws or a threatening word to get his way and moves on in life. He is not usually content sitting and pondering the meaning of things and has no wisdom to offer beyond almost cynical practicality, and though he is in no way unintelligent, he would certainly appear uneducated to the wider Galaxy..

FORCE POWERS:
Force Telepathy
Barabel Force Meld
Force Push
Force Jump
Force Pull
Force Heal
Healing Trance
Force Speed

SKILLS:
Raynor is well trained in war and in the hunt, having spent the majority of his young life either battling other clans or taking part in the nightly hunts that dominate Barabel society. He is capable in the arts of camouflage and tracking though by no means an expert and constantly explores any new area to discover the best routes, hiding places, and exits. Raynor is skilled with a slugthrower and many different melee weapons like swords, sword staffs, and clubs, a skill born of necessity due to the wars that have been fought by his clan over the years. Raynor prefers to get up close and personal with his claws, tail and teeth, his fighting style a brutal mixture of whirling slashes of his claws and whip-like stabs and sweeps with his barb tipped tail.

LIGHTSABER/SWORD FORMS:
Djem So

Master: Jedi Knight Cnile Mengele

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Raynor is a fighter, his mind constantly devoted to the hunt and to protecting his clan-mates in the brutal wars that dominate his species' culture. He is skilled in personal combat as well as the limited application of his species knowledge of the Force, specifically in melding with his hatch mate Relesa's mind in order to act more cohesively in battle and during hunts. Raynor is extremely aggressive when threatened, to the point of making very large mistakes and hurting those around him. In the worst case, he unknowingly crushed his hatch mates' windpipe, thinking that she was an enemy sneaking up on him during an ambush. Raynor is unfamiliar with most modern technologies and is constantly confused in the technology dominated galaxy after leaving Barab 1 in self imposed exile to seek the Jedi.

GEAR:
Travel stained dark green hooded cloak
Jedi Garb
Armor (chestpiece with matching kama and vambrace) *Chestpiece and vambrace worn under the overtunic and undertunic while kama is over the pants
Single Lightsaber - Dual Phase Construction, Silver Blade
Blaster Pistol
Leather utility belt
*Datapad
*Comlink
* Relesa's good luck bone pendant
Metal barb attached to the tip of his tail

SHIP: N/A
PETS: N/A
KILLS: N/A
DUELING RING MATCHES: N/A
GRAND TOURNAMENT MATCHES: N/A
ROLE-PLAYS: N/A
Training Thread:
Hunter's Redemption, Knight's Ascension (Raynor's Training)

Misguided Padawan~1st Jedi Mission

Role Plays:

The Apprentice Menace(s)

Factory Blues

Duel/Battles:
CDR-382 vs Raynor Cree (From the Woodwork Battle)

Kills:
CDR-382: Alsakan serving the Hutt Armed Forces as a General. CDR led the lower level attack on the Temple and Raynor engaged him in a fight in an effort to give the Younglings a chance to escape. Though Raynor managed to kill the Alsakan cybertron, it was at the cost of his own life.

Datapad Journal Entry #1

This one haz only just began his first trip on a starship, and already all he can think of is how he missez the stooping catacombz and crumbling tunnelz of dirt and ash that served as this ones home since his birth. The rocky canyons and arid plainz all pull at this one'z soul, the memories of hunt-glee and the sound of battle fresh in my mind doing nothing to calm my fears, or my guilt. To think that just a few short weeks ago, the only thing this one had to worry about was the nightly hunt and the occasional clan rising to the east. That time is over now. The only thing remaining for this one is the cold and sterile passagez of space, the long metal tubes and tunnelz crisscrossing the underbelly of the great silver bird are my only comfort. Comfort this one doesn't even deserve.

This one is Raynor Cree of the Kaliph Clan of the Barabel. This one was once the pride of the clan; the strongest warrior, the ever successful hunter, and the more powerful force user. Between this one and his Force melded hatch mate, no enemy could stand before the might of the Kaliph. This one could not count the number of femalez vying to mate with him, rippling cords of steely sinew hidden under black scaled lithe and agile frame attracting many to his nest. This one could not count the number of young who wanted to be trained by him, the one they called the future Longfang. This one should have foreseen the ambush that changed everything. This one should have realized who was approaching from behind before striking. This one was foolish, blind, and arrogant and he lost everything he ever loved because of it.

This one has led his life the way he always has for as long as he'd been living, thriving in the stiff repetition of morning training with the other soldiers followed by the Elder's lessons on the Force with Relesa. After lessons, we would practice our meld and ready the equipment for that evening's hunting party, stopping briefly to rub our facez against the shrine devoted to our parents and hatch mates who had not survived the pestilence that struck in their youth. Every able bodied Barabel was required to take part unless their was a war happening: the Kaliph clan had been pulling in the superior prey at almost every hunting exchange with the Garang clan and everyone knew that it waz this one and his sister who were responsible for it. After the exchange, I urged my hatch mate and fellow hunters to go on back to the nests while I remained behind, assuring them with a toothy grin that this one had nothing to fear if some Garang decided to pick a fight. Staring up at the stars for a few hourz as this one alwayz enjoyed doing after the hunt, I failed to notice the approaching footsteps coming from the tunnel entrance behind me until the Force screamed a sudden warning to my senses that was quieted by a wooden club striking my head, knocking me down into the dust.

This one could only watch in a daze as four or five purple scaled Barabels melted out of the shadows and from my own clan's tunnels - the youngling hunters of Garang. I pushed myself up onto my knees and could only stare in blinding rage as the hunters arrayed themselves in a ring around me with weaponz drawn, the only open space leading down into the tunnelz. To this one, the meaning was clear; either fight them and risk losing, or run away like a coward to the safety of the clan. I was Raynor Cree, the claw of Kaliph. This one could easily defeat these six younglings even without a weapon. I would not run and I will not lose. Getting to my feet, I spat a chipped fang and a mouthful of blood out of my jaw before grinning widely, my claws extending and my tail whipping behind me furiously as I felt the wrath of the Hungry One filling my mind, choking the soothing aura of the Force in an inferno of anger and hate as I slowly lost control to the blood red haze surrounding my vision.

This one leapt forward quickly, ducking under the sword slash of one of the hunters and landing claws first on the chest of the biggest Garang there, his club flailing against my side painfully as I dug into his chest and snapped at his neck with my powerful jaws. My tail served as my defense, whipping back and forth behind me with deadly force at anyone who came close, the metal barb digging viciously into one of the less wary hunter's eye. Leaping up off of the first corpse, this one could only look on in satisfaction at the wounded hunter running away, leaving me with just four to face. I charged back into the fray, my claws and legs snapping out in harsh and powerful blows to try and disarm my opponents, my blood lust ruling unchecked as I spun while leaping into the air, my tail lashing out powerfully to snap the neck of one of the charging younglings.

This one should have been known then that they were not battle tested, just angry young clan rivals looking to take out their embarrassment on the source. This one didn't care, couldn't care; what I thought was the Hungry One had filled my mind, my natural aggression augmented by an other worldy force that drove me to continue. This one rememberz hissing in pain as a club came down hard on my wrist, the bone shattering as I snarled in pain. I backed up towards the tunnel wall to recover for a moment, facing down my three opponents when the sound of heavy footsteps came echoing down the tunnel. I thought more Garang were coming out of the ground after hearing my snarl, the clan nests were too far away to be any real help right now. This one waited, eyes narrowed to thin red slits as he waited for the footsteps to get close before lashing out in a fury, his tail sweeping the legs of his target and then slamming down a pulverizing blow across the enemy neck. I glanced down to look see the face of the newest arrival only to gasp in horror. Relesa laid dead on the floor, her windpipe and spine broken by my heavy blow.

This one sank to his knees, ignoring the triumphant jeers of the Garang as they ran forward with clubz raised as his rage disappeared only to be replaced with overwhelming guilt and grief. This one had been so consumed by my rage that I hadnt felt her reaching out through their meld, hadn't realized that she was only coming to help. This one had murdered his only family. Bowing my head under the heavy blows, I remember that I cried out in pain as a coursing wave built up inside me, filling every corner of my mind before blowing out of my body in the form of a powerful Force push, the wave of invisible energy throwing his enemy back like falling stars into the canyon walls; the sound of snapping bones echoed in the silence. This one then picked up his hatch mate's body into his arms, ignoring the burning pain flowing from my wrist and his ribs, and carried her back home.

This one didn't even bother to warn his clan that after two months of healing and mourning that I would leaving. The Elder had quietly informed most of the clan that I had fallen to the Dark Side. There was no point in arguing, for that is exactly what I had done. I declared myself an exile and boarded the first ship to arrive that would bring me somewhere near Coruscant with only my hatch mate'z lucky bone pendant, her datapad, my tail barb, and an old cloak that had belonged to my mother. This one has decided to seek out the Jedi, to gain guidance, wisdom, and perhaps atone for the dark actions my rage led me to. If they will not accept me for teaching, than I will submit himself to their judgment for my transgressions against my kin and the Force.

This one is Raynor Cree, the Exile of Barab 1.

~~~~~~ Three Years Later ~~~~~~~
Datapad Journal Entry #42
It haz finally happened! This one has been chosen to be the Padawan Learner of a Knight, a Jedi by the name of Cnile. I find it so difficult to believe how much has changed in the three yearz since I arrived on Coruscant. Between going to classez with the other initiatez (who are all frightened of me) to try and catch up to my peers, and figuring out just how different thingz are from the way things were on Barab I, I'm surprised that I can keep it all straight.
For this one, even after all thiz time though, the hardest things to accept are just how much of everything there is on this planet. Tablez and tablez of food stretching all the way around the Dining Hall with so many different optionz. When this one asked a server if he could sign up to go along on the huntz, they looked at me like I was crazy and just turned away to help the next initiate. The water is even crazier! On Barab I, you barely had enough water to drink and that was really it. The sun burned too hot and the surface was too radiated to do much of anything else with it, if you could even get it. Here, the water flowz constantly! People bathe every day, drink half a glazz and leave it sitting on the table for a droid to pick up, they even swim in it! I initially scoffed at the waste, but now I find myself enjoying the sensation of cool water running over my scalez. Swimming is my quickly becoming my favorite way to exercise..
Some of the other initiates mock me for keeping this journal, but I wonder how many of them would laugh if they knew that Entryz 6-38 contain this one's musingz on how long they would survive on a hunt (measured in secondz) and the proper way to prepare their flesh for the post-hunt feast. The Masters that teach clazzez say that thinking of the Hunt is not the Jedi way, but it doez have some satisfying ways of getting past the children'z immaturity. Those Masterz also say that "This one" is not an acceptable way to refer to one's self, but *this one* thinkz they can go space themselvez.
I still keep seeing the lightning storm whenever I try to meditate... hopefully my new master will be able to help me deal with them. They seem to manifest reactions to any negative emotionz I feel while I try to meditate, and it feels threatening. Like the Hungry One before Relesa... died. All the Mind Healerz can tell me is "Emotion, yet peace." but the problem is I cannot seem to find the peace they keep talking about.
Well, this one going to try and meditate before I have to go meet my new Master. Til next time Journal..
This one is Raynor Cree, Jedi Padawan.
I know! You have no idea how much the Barabel z's are driving me crazy.
Mostly because in the NJO books, it almost seems random when they're used. There isnt a rhyme or reason.. it just happens sometimes with is being iz and sometimes is is just is :CStern
Was the 'This one' at the beginning of every paragraph annoying or too over the top?
Hahaha :) Thanks babyblue
Ive been using Journals for a few years to flesh out characters that I'm making for a story I'm trying to write (big long original sci-fi novel) and the journal helps me work out past, emotions, personalities, etc before I have to write the actual story so I know exactly how they'd react or work in a situation or how they'd talk or things like that :) it's really helpful for developing the character into what you want them to be
Datapad Entry #127
This one is sorry to report that this will be this one'z last journal entry. The Hutt attacked the Temple and were moving up through the lower levelz toward the Creche and the Youngling dormitoriez. This one set up an ambush and drew their leader, an Alsakan cybertron named CDR-382, into a fight high above the rest of the room. This one couldn't allow this warrior to leave the room, not until the Younglings had enough time to escape.
The fight was long and hard, the General had a ysalamir so this one waz forced to fight Force Blind for the first time in nearly half a decade. It was difficult, and while in the end this one managed to impale the enemy, it was at the cost of my own life. This one can only hope that his sacrifice was enough to allow the children to escape and continue the legacy of the Jedi.
*The text portion of the record ends suddenly to be replaced with an audio file. Tap to play*
"Cnile. You were the best master any one could have ever hoped to have, and I will miss you. Please ensure that my lightsaber and datapad are entered into the archivez, and please keep my bone totem for yourself. I will be watching you from the nether world, so behave!
Tony ~ This one wishez more than anything that he could continue our bi-monthly cup cake feasting, but unfortunately Death does not accept cupcakes as a bribe or form of currency. Stay strong my friend, and carry on our legacy.
Jozz - This one knowz that one day you're going to come out of your shell and shock the galaxy. Stay strong, stay Light, and remember that this one and the Force will always be with you."
*The recording continues for awhile, random phrases muttered in Barab and quieted hisses of pain sounding out in between bouts of softly hummed music. Coughing hard and groaning in pain, Raynor exhaled loudly and began to speak again.
"It iz getting harder to breath now... and thiz one cant see very well anymore..." *Labored breathing fills the sound before the barabel's deep voice booms out of the speakers one last time* "Thiz is Jedi Knight Raynor Cree........ May the Force be with you."
*recording ended*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A month after the recording was made and Raynor's body was retrieved by his Master and was cremated in the Jedi tradition, the journal was edited to inform any future reader that through his selfless sacrifice, Raynor allowed the Younglings to evacuate off planet with the Creche Masters and a large chunk of the Archives intact to a secret hideout.

OOC:

Well, that's the end folks. My first and only character on SWRP has been killed in what was an awesome battle against Phil's Alsakan General that ended in a stalemate of both of us just dying from our copious wounds.. Raynor was a really fun character and I'm sad to see him go.

But prepare, for the new Timeline will host a Barabel with far different proclivities *cackles evily*

Good you spent the timeline concentrating on one character.

Annoys me no end these people who have nine characters.

One character is good when you only want to focus on one aspect of this RP. Having multiple characters allows for diversity. However, the key with using multiple characters is finding a middle ground instead of just doing a couple and neglecting the rest.

You have that backwards. The people who use one character are the ones allowing for diversity. The people with many are the ones focusing each seperate character on one aspect of the RP. How many people with Jedi and Sith characters will have their Jedi fall to the Dark Side or their Sith redeem themselves and follow the Light?

Bingo. I was just about to say that.

In the first timeline, when Jedi turned to the dark side, it was often a pretty big deal. If a Sith was redeemed, it was a big deal too. That's because most people had only one character. They didn't have a Jedi and a Sith. If you have both, you have no reason for a Jedi to fall to the dark side or a Sith to be redeemed.

Multiple characters may allow you to do more, but they actually cut down on creativity and opportunity.

I'm going to have two characters in the new timeline, my "Errant Knight" (former Jedi Knight turned Smuggler/Avenger hellbent on stopping the Sith) and a sith warrior.

I'm doing this so I can test myself as an RPer on both sides of the conflict. Ive always found it easier to role play the lighter side character, so I want to have a go at being Dark Side or more Grey. Moral ambiguity is going to be fun.

So commentators on the character debate, any comments about *my* character? :p

In the short time I knew him, I have to say I liked him. Don't see many kind of Jedi like him, almost reminded me of my Trandoshan Jedi... before he went all Bogan.
