BIOGRAPHY

One can only play the cards one is dealt, and the deck comes shuffled for everyone on birth. Raycom Hedarial arguably held a strong hand from his early years, being born into one of the oldest and most prestigious families on the deep core planet Byss. Being his fathers eldest son, the young Raycom found himself raised and sheltered in the spoils of the high class, with an inheritance dangling over him too large for any one person to spend. An enviable position, a literal win in the lottery of birth.

Yet, wealth and the prestige of the high class come at a cost. From birth on, he was groomed to fill the crucial role of his fathers' heir. Attending exclusive schools and being trained by private tutors wherever his caretakers found enough space in his curriculum, and even his hobbies were hand-picked by them to properly fit the image of a young high-class member. Even the birth of his little sister when he was five years old hardly changed his life, as he mainly saw the young lady for the staged family photos and public events where he was part of his families delegation.

Change only ever started after he escaped the harsh grip of his parents and their hired teachers. In a private Coruscanti Boarding School on the utmost level, he could exert some limited self-control for the first time. He found a group of friends and finally was able to do some hobbies chosen by himself. He also had a chance to explore the upper levels of Coruscant, but still remained sheltered from the darker, lower aspects of what is essentially the galactic capital. Overall he seemed promising and delivered great grades in his academic years.

Another change occurred when his sister followed after him, enlisted in the same grammar school. His parents expected him to help her adjust and aid her in her classes, much to the dismay of the older teenager with little interest in his younger sister. Yet as he did indeed aid her in her studies, he grew closer to his sister. Less academic and less interested in the deft topics of the classes, she still stroke him with enormous acumen and her intellect. She was more of a misfit than he for the family, but over the 3 years they spent together in the school, he not only started to defend her against bullies at school but at home. The question of his sister's successes was the only topic on which he ever dared to defy his father, and it was the only sore point between them. When he left the school, he stayed in close contact with her.

The next step in his life lead him to Naboo, where he visited the Royal Academy in Theed. It was no surprise to the young adult, he had been prepared for a role in politics since early on. His lessons and his youth aided him greatly in the academy, where his grades were among the highest of his year. He had fewer colleagues than in his school, his already broad knowledge and eagerness to display it somewhat ostracising him from the rest, but he began to network among his peers and teachers. Many of these acquaintances had little to do with friendship and more with pragmatic investing into the future.

Yet as his study in political science came to a close, personal tragedy struck. His sister, whom he had grown close to, disappeared. Though he tried to pull all strings and knew his mother tried to set heaven and hell into motion, she could not be found. Even an expansive lawsuit against the school did turn up no evidence. The staff of her boarding school even accused her of having fled. His father seemed to agree with the notion, even commenting on the misfit. The topic would forever drive a wedge between him and his son Raycon, and whilst it has cooled down over the years, the two men still cannot talk about it in the presence of each other.

After a year of hiatus, his family pressed him back into action, fearing he would waste all they had invested in him in his mourning. And so the young man found himself in the battlegrounds of local politics. Joining the Conservative party, as with his father he had little another choice, he became one of the fiercest opponents of then-senator Vyss Jakar. The immigrant alien was very unpopular in the conservative circles of the planet and had little liking among the old elites of the planet. Yet he held on to his office for many years, mostly due to the lack of a serious opponent that could unite his opposed quarters against him.

Raycon Hedarial did just that, being young and charismatic, he began an opposition movement that quickly gained traction. None of his aides or advisers would dare believe that they could quickly unseat the Abyssin from his position, yet fate would force his hands. A tax scandal ripped the immigrant from his position, and in the wake of the investigation, it was discovered that his mother had no legal visa until the very start of Jakar's political career. It seemed as if he had abused his power to get her one, and embezzled government funds ever since. The outcry was enormous, his public standing torn to shreds, and he had to step down to save the little face still remaining to him.

In the ensuing power vacuum, Hedarial's opposition movement suddenly found itself in the best spot to take over. Quickly, a political programme and suggestions for positions within the service of the Galactic and republic senate were handed to the President, with Raycom hoping to at least become an ambassador. Shortage of possible candidates and the complete disorder of left parties previously centred around Vyss Jakar however propelled him even higher, and he found himself in the position of Senator.

Being among the youngest men to ever represent Byss, a successful term could solidify him a long career, and political importance for the Conservative for the coming years, and so Hedrial approaches the position with eagerness and cunning, already activating some of his old contacts, and talking to his fathers' associates. A challenging few years are now before him.
Personality

Raycom Hedarial is a composed but indefatigable loquacious. He is a menace on the podium and gives a level headed impression when met in person. Yet hardly anyone knows Racom as he truly is, as he has been trained to seem the way he is from the moment he could talk. Inside, he fears failure and sticks to his teachings to avoid it.

He has great empathy but uses it as a weapon. He feels another fear and exploits them, or guesses their hopes and holds them up. He knows how to act right to be well perceived in most circumstances, and knows how to avoid doing anything when pressed in a situation he is unfamiliar with. He is an actor on so many levels, he sometimes wonders if he deceives himself.

There are true sides to him, however, ways in which he has hardly expressed himself since he has lost his sister, and which he would not care to display for the world to see. His liking for art and the theatre, not for the social events that PR makes him undergo, but for the calmness and the rest. Sometimes it is all too much, sometimes he just wants a pause.

He seldom thinks about the consequences of his actions, and he hardly knows those that are worst of. He believes in the politics he has always known and relishes in his class, but there is a great lack of understanding for poverty and true suffering. His problems are as hard for a low worker to grasp, as it is the other way around. In many ways, he remains blind to the galaxy around him.
Skills

Being fluent in speech and thinking, he radiates confidence even when talking about the most incredulous pablum that one might have heard. He knows how to present himself and uses his charisma to its fullest. He is also a bit full of himself, with him believing in his ability to an extent that may be considered arrogant.

He is no great fighter he has never had the need of it past the occasional shuffle with other rich boys, and the punishments for those had been severe throughout his school career. He must therefore rely greatly on his guards, only being able to rely on some self-defence courses he used to attend as a teen. He is in good shape, as PR demands him to look the part for his voters, and trains regularly, but would hardly stand the chance without aid in any fight.
