When the instructor had announced that she would be assigned to a champion today, she wasn't super happy because it merely emphasized her degradation again. However now, she wasn't only glad for the new task, but she was positively overwhelmed with how things had turned out. She was not doing a very pleasant thing her as she was torturing the Rattataki -one of her own people- by weaving through the layers of his mind while knowing exactly what damage she would cause.

She was shattering the man's identity and all of his memories by searching though each and every layer by tearing the different layers open, leaving each and every thought, every memory open and vulnerable for her vicious attack. The tasks goal was absolutely clear, Vahl had ensured that. Regardless of the price, she needed the information and thisnwas not just a test of loyalty in the name of the Empire, but this had gotten something personal too.

Raze had definitely and undeniably left his footprints in her own mind and all around her very soul. He had opened herself towards the darkness and she hadn't been afraid to finally let it back in and recklessly enfold inside her, but this Rattataki even seemed to be involved in much more. With Vahliri amplifying all the dread, the agony, the deep rooted fright and all the hate the darkness obviously insptensified, but it didn't feel like it would rip her apart in any way, but it simply fueled her power and this still felt absolutely great.

In retrospect, a part of Celeste had always been careful and holding back because she had feared the dark side would make her lose control my enticing her like that, but now that she could finally let go thanks to Raze, she wasn't afraid at all anymore. Feeling this powerful felt amazing and she didn't care for the price it would cost. She showed the Rattataki no mercy while being completely guided by her own rage and step by step, she unraveled his secrets. His agonized cries didn't even make her flinch as she was solely focused on the task, the Force powerfully flowing right through her and intensifying further and further. There was something oddly addictive about this feeling, even though it was also so powerful that holding on to it was painful. It was a weird, bearable kind of pain but it had the potential to be shocking, however after everything that she had been through, it didn't bother her too much.

So they had been right about him anyway...she didn't even feel bad because of that. She was obviously angry, but she held back, knowing it wasn't her place to end his worthless life after all. She pulled back and out of his thoughts, letting out a deep breath while she still pinned him down with one hand commanding the Force. The invisible grasp still pushed him dowards while she caught her breath. The strain was noticeable and her own head hurt, yet she was rather satisfied for now as she had retrieved at least some important pieces of information. "Of course you have betrayed me too" she whispered, rather stating a fact that showing actual disappointment. There was scornful grin on her lips as she walked over to the control panel, deactivating the ray-shield just to hurl the finished Rattataki back into the cell.

Her light blue eyes that were still tainted by several golden flecks immediately flicked towards the terrified, whimpering boy, and before anyone could move, she yanked him out. She was still caught in this rush, intoxicated by the power she had just felt and so she was completely confident about the boy being easy game for her. She could feel his fright coldy radiating off him and her smile widened almost sadistically as she pulled him close. Without a word, she spun him around, the boy's body soon pressed against her, her right hand immediately wrapped around his throat while she pulled his head back with her left hand, grabbing him by his hair. Her smile changed into an almost sweet one, her voice soft like a midsummer's night breeze. Despite this pure state of rush, there was still common sense in her and so she gave him a choice. "Don't be afraid. You've got nothing to fear if you just...talk. You know what I need to know". Her voice almost turned into a whisper and if he hadn't physically resisted until now, she would stare down into those wide, frightened eyes, her own facial features softening. "Just tell us the target" she demanded determinantly, yet her tone was deceptively sweet.

As simple as that, it was done.

Without another word - not even a squeal of protest - the Rattatak iman slumped forward in the Imperial torture chair. For all the hate and anger they’d so strongly held, those red red were entirely glazed over by that point - hollow, staring off into vacant space, while his jaw hung slack and ever-so-slightly open. It was abundantly clear that the man was still alive and breathing - and it was abundantly clear that Celeste’s mental intrusions had done to him. The Acolye had extracted the necessary information, and left the IIA agent little more than a prisoner within the tattered confines of his own mind.

Vahliri didn’t utter a single word all the while, allowing Celeste to soak in everything she’d done. The man had clearly betrayed the former Senator of Rattatak - and who was to say that same betrayal could not be found within the rest of the FWA? Could Celeste truly ever serve within the FWA wholeheartedly, and trust her peers? Who else had betrayed her? It was that train of thought Vahliri honed in upon, amplifying those doubts and worst-case scenarios within Celeste’s mind.

And then there was the Mirialan. Almost instinctively, the boy attempted to recoil within his cell - to get as far away from Celeste as humanly possible. He saw what had happened to the Rattataki, and the boy feared that the Acolyte might do next. His attempts to flee, however, were in vain - and he could only yelp as the woman caught within her grasp. He heard her honeyed words and sweet tone, and Celeste in turn would feel the terror that radiated off of him. Steeped within the Dark Side at this point, it was a sensation that would almost be intoxicating to elicit from the Mirialan - a more powerful high than any Spice could provide.

There was a long pause, and the Mirialan deliberately didn’t meet her gaze. He did, however, finally break the while. “The power reactor core..” He muttered quietly, uncomfortable squirming against her grip. “That is the target.” A few minutes passed, and the Mirialan proceeded to divulge everything that Celeste needed to hear. The time of the planned attack, the location - how many agents would attempt to infiltrate and what they looked like. It was everything the boy knew - and while some details were left out from his lack of knowledge, it was all vital information to the successful thwarting the plan. The Twi’lek continued to say nothing at all - unclear if he was involved or not.

As she heard the greater details of the entire exchange, Vahliri finally opted to withdraw herself. Her own influence in the Force vanished as she turned on a heel - having heard and done everything she needed. “These two are to do with as you please,” She said towards Celeste, watching the Acolyte for a moment. She could torture them further or leave them to rot within that cell - living up to her claim that the boy had nothing to fear from her.

“Meet me within the grand hall when you’ve concluded.”

A wave of satisfaction washed over her after she had successfully infiltrated the Rattataki's mind. There was not a single hint of regret as he had betrayed her just like so many more, and he could even be grateful for not having been tortured any further. With his one arm cleanly cut off and already cauterized, there was nothing else he had to fear in terms of a possible infection, but it seemed like in his state of a mercilessly shattered mind be was not worrying about anything anymore anyway. His absent glare reminded her of Null, which only fueled that inner rage, but after she had retrieved the information she was done with him.

With Vahliri amplifying her doubts, it seemed like the rage was starting to consume her, but there was no point in lashing out and letting it out on the broken man, and she still had a second target anyway: The boy had to speak or she would have to do something similar to him, and she wasn't so sure whether she would find joy in doing so. It was necessary anyway, but fortunately the boy was clever enough to give her what she wanted. She was certain that he was being honest, mainly because she could feel this immense angst. He was fearing for his life and he was right to do so, but everything he revealed made sense and so she slightly lowered the pressure on his throat.

As the Champion announced that they were done here, Celeste's anger faded further, still, however, leaving that hunger for the same kind of power she had just tasted a few moments ago. Vahliri's steps then resounded through the room as the brunette made her way out and Celeste briefly watched her leave. She didn't move yet, not letting go of the boy though either. He had talked, which was good, and they had clearly gathered enough information. With the puzzle pieces of information he added, they could easily stop that outlined plan from happening and not just that: Celeste had gained important knowledge on some other people who had seemingly worked under her just to supply the IIA with additional information about her doings and who had constantly questioned her loyalty. More people had betrayed her or at least spied on her and it left her furious, still the Rattataki man had at least paid for his betrayal.

As for the Mirialan boy, he had spoken and apparently revealed everything he knew, so there was no need to harm him further and so without hesitation she walked over to the terminal with the boy still pressed to her body, holding him tight so he was still unable to move, before she pushed it, shoved the boy in and reactivated the ray shields. She didn't say another word and left them in the cell, turning on her heel before she confidently strode towards the grand hall, as Vahliri had mentioned. She had no idea what else was expected of her today, but that first objective had left her satisfied. Vahliri had not mentioned to continue with the Twi'Lek and so she didn't pull him out as well. She was sticking to what she had been told and so she soon entered the hall to meet the Champion, respectfully lowering her gaze as she approached her to await her next task.

If Vahliri approved or was otherwise impressed by Celeste and her performance in the interrogation chambers, it didn’t manifest in her expression whatsoever. The information she had extracted from the prisoners was vital to the security of the Empire, and the methods they employed were necessary steps in their governance. There were many Sith - far too many - that turned their nose at exactly what Celeste had done to the Rattataki, and it was a first step in snuffing out the weakness and hesitation that had ended in her original abandonment of the Empire.

More importantly, Vahliri wanted Celeste to dwell upon the betrayal she had uncovered. The knowledge that the IIA had spied upon her, and that those within the Alliance would always see her as a liability. A threat. One that would always need to be monitored, controlled and terminated if necessary. The half-Annfyn didn’t need to lift a finger or say a single word - knowing full well that the Acolyte’s own mind was churn and do the work for her.

By the time Celeste returned to the main hall, Vahliri was standing with her arms crossed in the middle of the room. Her gaze was cast down to a datapad, a few messages rapidly typed and sent before her gaze flicked back onto the Acolyte. Before any pause could form, Vahliri gestured to the datapad. “A full accounting of the interrogation will be compiled for ISB agents, and used to combat whatever terrorist attack was being planned.” Her gaze lingered harshly upon Celeste - appraising with every moment that passed.

“Your actions saved hundreds of innocent, Imperial lives.” She said after a long moment. It was the closest thing to praise that Celeste would receive, and Vahliri did not offer it lightly. The Acolyte had done well - and it was a reminder that such brutal tactics were employed for a legitimate purpose and necessity.

Vahliri tilted her head a bit, circling Celeste. “What did you gain?”

When Celeste approached the Champion, the younger woman's expression was as stoic as before. There was no warm smile welcoming her or a raised brow because she returned so soon, there were not even questions asked. Celeste wasn't surpised about that though. It wasn't hard to tell that Vahliri took her position as serious as Celeste took her own, but deep down she assumed that Vahliri was rather pleased that they hadn't encountered any difficulties or problems with the interrogation.

Celeste had calmed down, but the thoughts were not leaving her mind. She wouldn't forget what the Rattataki has done and whose faces she had seen in his mind - faces that had usually smiled when she had walked into a room, but after she had left, faces that had apparently critically assessed her each and every move.

Still, Celeste was satisfied with the information she had managed to retrieve and she was curious about possible updates. The Imperials had to act fast, but thanks to all the details they had managed to collect, it seemed like they would be able to interfere and shatter all the terrible plans outlined by the IIA.

She nodded after Vahliri gave her an update, however not commenting on it. It was good that the agents were already on in and so her lips curled into a slight, pleased smile. What followed did suprise her, because even though her delivery was rather harsh and sober, Celeste actually understood it as praise.

It was, however, even more, because it proved one important thing. A deep, philosophical question, she had discussed with a stranger in the middle of the night before. Would you destroy a single life to save hundreds? Yes, absolutely. She did not regret what she had done, but she was indeed relieved that she did not even have to torture the younger Mirialan boy, so Vahliri's question was rather easy to answer. "We gained the information we needed, but I gained much more than that. This just proves that some...admittedly brutal manners are sometimes needed. We need to do what is necessary". She followed her with her gaze for a moment, before she directed it towards the front, facing one of the massive walls of the grand hall. "I also experience the indescribable power of the dark side again...I'll never close myself off again and I will not fight it". Instead, she would command it and control it, just like she had in that chamber. It was like she said. Hundreds of innocent lives would be saved and she was even proud that they could have contributed.

While she listened, Vahliri didn’t immediately grant Celeste a response - amber eyes lingering on the Acolyte and appraising her with every moment that passed. The half-Annfyn kept her arms crossed over her chest, methodical footsteps bringing her to circle behind and then in front of the woman. It was only then that she began to speak, her voice echoing off the stone walls of the Raxus Temple.

“There are many who will scorn and chastise you for the methods that you employ. They will call you a monster for doing what must be done, and for embracing the Darkness that has given you strength where all else has failed.”
She rounded back in front of Celeste, turning on a heel to face the Acolyte directly. “They will mistrust your very existence, no matter how much you attempt to ‘repent’ your ways. You have seen it clearly,” She jutted her chin back to the torture chamber. The half-Annfyn had seen the actions of the IIA agent play out clearly, and intended to capitalize upon that sense of betrayal. “Your attempts to appease them, to change yourself to fit their standards was for nothing. Only the Empire will embrace you for what you truly are.”

“Severity is often the price of greatness,”
She said flatly, “It is the necessary price of achieving the results we need, and a step towards forging a Galaxy we know should exist.” Vahliri extended her hand back towards the torture chamber. “The choices you will make as a Sith will be brutal. They will earn you the hatred of many and push you to your limits. But they will be necessary - and the individual sacrifice is not consequential next to the end result.”

"What became of the prisoners is inconsequential, next to the information that will save the lives of those cadets."

With that, Vahliri gestured back to in the direction of the quarters where Celeste had originally come from. “Return to your daily duties to the temple. Complete your tasks, and then meet me at the hangar in three hours.” The half-Annfyn turned on a heel, beginning to make her way out of the room. “Your next assignment will begin shortly.”

While Celeste's gaze followed the Half-Anfynn she wondered whether it was just the immense pressure that rested on Vahliri made her that serious or whether she, like so many others, had changed, too. So far, the Champion's demeanor was rather icy and distant, but she wasn't actually surpised. She was still wondering whether the two of them would ever end up on a party again, exchanging warnings about...interesting men who shouldn't be trusted. It felt like that particular party on New Alderaan had been ages ago - and well, admittedly it had been quite some time - but she was hoping that lightheartedness would return some day. She wondered how the hell she had ended up as Roman's date but from all the mistakes she had commited in the last couple of months, this had been at least a comparatively smaller one...Still Vahl had been right back then, and she was right now.

She did not break eye contact as the Champion adressed her and nodded firmly. "I know you are right...with absolutely everything" she agreed, the corner of her lips turning into a slight smile. Celeste had learnt all that ages ago and she had triednto fight it. She had tried not to be depicted as the monster, the ever existing enemy, but Vahliri was right. The Empire was accepting her that way and she did no longer have to repress that striving for power. Greatness could only be accomplished by giving in and sacrifices were necessary to achieve certain goals. "I don't care what the others think. I can see my path right in front of me and my choice is final" she added. Her ambitions were unbroken, even if her direction had changed. She was no longer denying what rested inside her, especially because it was more powerful than ever.

After agreeing with her, she nodded again. It felt good that the cadets lives were saved and the prisoners dealt with, and it soothed her that there was not even a single hint of regret inside her. She had done the absolute right thing. Once Vahliri instructed her to return to her usual tasks, she internally sighted while her face didn't display any signs of her discontent. As much as she hated those inferior tasks, she knew she had to and so she turned to leave without hesitation. She had no idea where they would going afterwards, but she was excited to meet her at the hangar because she was hoping she would get off Raxus for now. A change of scenery was needed, but even if this wasn't the plan, it sounded like they were up to at least something different. "I'll be there" she confirmed with a smile on her lips as she went past her to do exactly what she had been asked to do.

She was returning to her usual instructor and receiving some more tasks and luckily, time seemed to fly. She was instructed to to some more deliveries, but was allowed to leave right on time to meet the Half-Anfynn champion at the said location. Again, she was in a relatively positive mood as she was excited for the new assignment without, however, knowing what was about to come. She was tired of wearing the most basic acolyte uniform, but there was a newfound confidence and enthusiasm in her steps, even if it was subtle since things finally seemed to change.

By the time Celeste arrived within the hangar bay, Vahliri was already patiently waiting for the Acolyte - true to her word. She stood beneath the chrome hull of the Pearl Empress - the ramp extended towards the ground and leading into the yacht just to her left. The Starblossom-class had served the half-Annfyn since her invasion of New Alderaan, and it would be their mode of transportation for the next assignment Vahliri had in mind. If it wasn’t obvious before, it was clear by now that she intended to take their training far away from Raxus.

Upon spotting Celeste, Vahliri offered the woman a curt nod of her head. “Hey,” She glanced down at her chrono, smirking at the fact that the Acolyte wasn’t actually late to her previous directive. With a jut of her chin, she promptly gestured into the yacht. “Come, we have a long flight ahead of us.”

With that, Vahliri turned and made her way into the Starblossom-class - gesturing for Celeste to follow. The interior was lavishly decorated with artwork and tropical, potted plants that lined the hallways - expensive filigree work and paneling making up the floors and walls. It was a vessel clearly fit for royalty, and it was only through right of conquest that the half-Annfyn acquired it to begin with. It suited her, as far as she was concerned.

“We’ll be traveling to Lantillies,” Vahliri began once they were inside, guiding Celeste into the common’s room. It was equally decorated with plush couches and seating - alongside a holo-screen mounted to the wall. Curiously, the Acolyte might catch a glimpse of the photograph that hung from the wall - nestled between two hanging plants. It was a picture of the AcoSquad during one of their outings, and showed a younger version of Vahliri, Cairo, Ashla (@Wit ) and Altair (@Sreeya ) huddled together. For all the ways Vahliri was harsh and unforgiving in her training, Celeste would clearly see the goofy, wide smile plastered across her face in the photograph.

“It is a neutral system, and one famous for its shipwright industry. They have agreed to meet with Imperial envoys to begin discussions on diplomatic annexation into the Empire. By whatever means necessary, our job will be to ensure negotiations are a success.”
She tilted her head ever-so-slightly towards Celeste. “I understand it was your area of expertise, and perhaps is the best way in which you may serve your Empire. Thus, you will accompany me during these negotiations.”

Vahliri gestured to a table situated at the far end of the room. There she would find a crisp pair of robes folded - black and trimmed with gold along the sleeves, collar and hem. Alongside it was a mask that provided full coverage to the wearer’s face. For the time being, keeping Celeste’s identity - and ties to the Sith - a secret was useful. “For the conference.” While the new attire had a functional purpose, it was also clearly a reward in of itself. They were of significantly higher quality and fashion than standard Acolyte robes - earned for her previous perforance in the interrogation chamber.

She turned on a heel. “Until we arrive, the ship and its amenities are at your disposal. Including one of the guest suits.”

Despite the rather draining work all day long Celeste felt oddly refreshed. She was excited to see what Vahliri had in mind next, but meeting her at the hangar already told her that they were probably leaving Raxus. Thus, she was positively excited and ready to go, but she kept a still rather straight face when she approached the Champion in front of the impressive ship. Well, not fully straight. A slight hint of excitement was reflected in the way her lips were slightly curled in a soft smile. "Hi" she immediately returned in a rather warm tone, befofe she added"I'm ready", her smile widening.

It was good to hear that they were actually leaving, but she was curious to find out what they were doing. While Celeste marveled at the lavish interior, the dark haired Champion already revealed a glimpse of their mission's details and Celeste immediately raised a brow. While the ship was definitely even more impressive from the inside, Celeste's gaze was directed at the photo on the wall for a moment. Seeing both, Altair and her that happy and seemingly carefree made her smile even more, however it also reminded her of how much had changed since then. Vahliri was definitely changed and so was Altair, but looking back, her own life had undergone a full 180° turn as well and she wasn't as carefree as she used to be when she herself was still an acolyte all these years ago, or even back when she was a Champion, almost independent in her conquests, before she had landed on Rattatak and all that political stress had started to enfold...yeah this all seemed ages ago, but she couldn't drift off too much and so she kept following Vahliri.

Even though the champion was much more serious now, there was a hint of softness in Celeste's gaze when she kept listened to what she explained. She nodded to signal her understanding, but then also to confirm what she said last. "That sounds interesting" she remarked, her mind slightly starting to race. Throughout her life, she had always tried to gain as much knowledge as possible, and the Lantilles system was no exception. Getting Lantilles to join the Empire would obviously beneficial due to its centralized position in the Mid Rim territory and the broad variety of tradable goods, so it was clearly good that they had already agreed to negotiations in the first place. "And correct. I've been involved with politics and business for quite a while now..." while her tone was confident, another thought crept into her mind though: Well, Lantilles would probably recognize the senator of Rattatak and questions would be raised, but before Celeste could even finish that thought, she followed the Champion's gesture.

Once again, a smile spread across her lips as she realized what she was spotting over there. Clearly, not only being send on such a mission was a honor, but the new attire was an even bigger one. "Thank you..." she didn't say more than that yet, but her tone was definitely grateful and she was not just thanking her for the clothes or the trust for that mission and obviously also her offer with the ship, but most importantly she was thankful that Vahliri didn't treat her like some disposable, low, random worthless acolyte..."For all of that". Hence, that grateful spark kept reflecting in her eyes for a little while while she gathered her new stuff and set off to get settled in one of the guest suits then.

They had indeed quite a bit of a distance to travel and Celeste had not only a bit of sleep to catch up with, but also to continue her training routine and to find some time to mediate, before she was hoping she would catch Vahliri for a quick chat. For now though, she carried her clothes over to the cabin and set them down there, before she made her way back to the Champion. "I never officially graduated you for your most recent successes...It's truly remarkable what you managed to accomplish in such a short period of time". While there was admiration in her voice, there was also more warmth in it and she was genuinely complimenting her here. Of course, she had also heard about the duel with that other Champion where she lost a part of her arm, but it seemed like that minor defeat had only made her stronger. Still, Celeste had already noticed that there was still quite a bit of pressure on her, but she was hoping that the mood between the two would loosen up a bit.

Vahliri offered Celeste a faint smile, her expression softening just the faintest bit. While she wouldn’t cut the Acolyte any slack through the training and penitence ahead, she had no reason to be overtly hostile either. “Don’t thank me quite yet,” The half-Annfyn tilted her head a bit, regarding the woman for a long moment before turning on a heel to exit the Common room. “What comes next won’t be easy.”

The journey to Lantillies wasn’t a quick one, and the pair had hours to burn before arrival. Thus, they’d have plenty of time to eat, rest and meditate before reaching their destination. For now, Vahliri opted to ascend the stairwell and make her way towards the upper deck of the Starblossom-class - passing the threshold into the private gardens. Nestled behind the cockpit, the oval-shaped chamber was beautiful to behold. Potted palms, ferns and other tropical plants - a majority of them originating from her native Indupar - lined the walls of the room and cluttered the chamber, save for a clear area at the garden’s center.

By the time Celeste entered the chamber, Vahliri was already tending to the flora - while a few training racks were set up near the center of the room, where the half-Annfyn clearly went through her drills and Katas. It wasn’t until Celeste spoke that she turned, tilting her head a bit at the woman. “Thank you,” She began, her expression a bit softer.

“I am dedicated to my goals,” She said simply. “Regardless of the sacrifices I have to make, or the pain it causes me.” The half-Annfyn said simple. She was driven like few other Sith, and the half-Annfyn couldn’t help but note how few of her peers could truly stomach what it took to achieve their ambitions. “It does not come without loss and failure.” She lifted her forearm, gesturing to the prosthetic limb. It was a constant reminder of where she fell short, and it forced her to reflect upon her own failures. To improve upon them.

“Why did you come back to the Sith?” She asked after a moment, arching a brow at Celeste. “You left and became a Senator. Were a leading voice in the FWA and could have risen to the top.” She shrugged a bit. “You could have had everything, but you returned to the Sith and are putting yourself through this all again.”

“Why?”

Celeste had no doubt that Vahliri spoke the truth: Diplomacy was never easy and she was approaching their mission with the appropriate amount of curiosity and carefulness. On such delicate occasions they simply had to ensure that everything would go down smoothly and so she had invested quite some time into preparing herself for the upcoming mission by not only refreshing herself and catching up on some sleep, but also by meditating and already changing into her new clothes.

Even though she was approaching Vahl in a rather warm and friendly way, she was not expecting the Champion to meet her with the same kind of attitude. She knew that Vahliri had to prove herself, too and neither of them could afford making any mistakes, so she couldn't blame her for maintaining a rather closed-off, distant, professional attitude, regardless of whether she had prefered it to be different.

Her own facial expressions softened and she listened rather empathetically, however without showing any signs of pity. She herself had experienced what prices they sometimes had to pay and she, too, had been forced to reflect on her mistakes. It wasn't hard to tell that her recent failure was still affecting her, but Celeste raised no further questions, as there was no need for that. "It's not hard to tell you're ambitious and driven" she remarked, as she actually admired her for her achievements. Celeste had been thrown back to the start, but her ambitions were unbroken as well.

As the Half-Anfynn returned the questions, a soft, yet sad smile crossed her lips. Her story wasn't easy, but she couldn't blame Vahliri for being a bit sceptical about her change of heart. "A chain of rather dramatic events made me come back to my senses...I was lying to myself for a few years. I thought suppressing the dark side and dedicating myself to a fully peaceful, diplomatic solution was a good idea, but it turned out that countless people abused my good will and that I've wasted so much potential for years..." she let out a faint sigh, continuing her walk while admiring the wonderful plants all around.

"I once was at a point where I was close to fully committing myself to the Empire...I didn't, because I thought what the Empire was doing and how it was pursuing its goals was wrong". She reached out, carefully letting a few leaves of fern glide though her fingers. "Looking back, I was wrong. I repeatedly told myself that the dark side is bad and that worlds should be more...free in a way. But look at the galaxy. All that chaos needs order and stability, and that is exactly what the Empire provides". That was the part about politics, but there was the dark side, too. "By turning my back on the Empire, I was trying to cut my ties to the dark side as fast as I could. Why? Because I failed to see that the darkness had always been there for me. It does come with a price, sure, but once I finally allowed it back in, I realized what true power felt like. I could never be someone who just leans back and watches. I'm someone who plays active roles, and I've realized that it is my purpose to serve the dark...". A philosophical thought, but a true one. "I've always been extremely driven and ambitious myself, but I was constantly holding back due to the naive belief in a seemingly 'good' purpose, but that was just stupid" It was not that she was overly power-hungry...but she definitely craved for much more. As seductive and tempting as the dark was, it was not just the dark side that had changed her. In fact, it had always been inside her and she could finally let it out. It felt great to be back, because this was exactly where she needed to be. "The road ahead is surely rocky, because I need to prove myself all over again. I've deserved paying penance", and the wounds she had to inflict on herself were a constant reminder of all that, "but in the end, it will only make me much stronger. It will be worth it" Now, she was truly here to serve. Definitely not to be a blind keg in a system, but still a reflected, critical thinker. Still, she was fully supporting the course of the Empire. Now she finally saw the truth.

For a few moments, Vahliri was completely silent - arms crossed over her chest and expression passive. She didn’t miss the flattery the Acolyte offered, which seemed genuine enough. She listened to Celeste as the woman explained her reasoning for returning to the Sith, including the mistakes and losses that had driven that decision. In many ways, it made sense. It was often at one's lowest point they found the Darkness, able to embrace all the ways it made them stronger than they’d been before.

Celeste had lost, and yet had more to lose. But she would rise from the ashes, stronger than before.

“Without purpose, power is meaningless.”
She stated flatly. Too often, Sith allowed the allure of power and strength to drive them forward - only to squander it, once finally obtained. “It is a means to an end. A tool. Your goals and ambition - how you may serve your Empire and the Darkness, to the best of your ability - is of far more importance.” Whether it was as a Diplomat or Soldier, Vahliri was largely interested in what Celeste had to offer. Acolytes were abundant, but a select few rose above the rest and excelled in one specialty or the other. So long as Celeste was her apprentice, Vahliri intended to use the Acolytes talents for her own gain - to advance her own career in lieu of their training.

“But you are right. The road ahead will be challenging. Your penance isn’t complete,” She said calmly. There was no vitriol or anger in her voice - as if the half-Annfyn was merely stating a fact, as opposed to making jabs at Celeste. “But you will be stronger by its conclusion, apprentice. I will make sure of it.” There was a hint of a smile just then. Whatever else, Celeste was her charge now - and Vahliri had a vested interest to see the woman succeed.

With that, Vahliri stepped back, “Enjoy whatever parts of the ship you like. We’ll be arriving shortly.”

True to her words, the journey to Lantillies didn’t take much longer. Within the hour, the yacht dropped out of the Hyperspace - the blueish blur of stars replaced by the sprawling, industralized surface of the neutral world. The droid pilot immediately began their descent, while confirmation was promptly made with authorities on the surface.

It was a world known for its shipbuilding and manufacturing capacities, and it contributed to the otherwise grimy and smog-filled atmosphere of the capital city. Smoke billowed from factories all across the city, while the sound of construction could be heard echoing from shipyards regardless of where one stood.

As the yacht approached the landing platform, Vahliri didn’t waste time - immediately returning to her quarters to change into more fitting attire. The summit was diplomatic in nature, and the half-Annfyn had no intention of walking through the door in combat robes. Upon landing, Vahliri began to make her way down the chrome-plated ramp of her shuttle - hands knitted together in front of her body, while the scent of her perfume lingered in the path she walked.

The half-Annfyn was dressed elegantly for the occasion, donning an ombre, red-and-black gown with crimson detailing on the shoulders. Her black hair was pulled into a neat bun, pinned into place by a ruby hairpiece that glinted against the light.

“Shall we?” Vahliri asked back to Celeste, glancing over her shoulder and to the Acolyte. Their destination was the pristine, extravagant building ahead of them - where members of the Council of Ministers waited to meet them.

What followed was silence and it seemed like Vahliri was processing her words for quite some time before she gave her an answer after all. Again, she offered wise words actually, and true ones, too. She had had a purpose before...she couldn't deny that, but the truth was, it had been absolutely wrong and perhaps even a bit naive. But those times were over now. Without compromises, her dedication was final and while she definitely possessed an inclination towards diplomacy, she remembered Varyn's words. Each and every day offered a chance to reflect and maybe some day arcane studies would pique her interest again. What was absolutely clear to her was that she would not end up as a mediocre champion that was just fulfilling tasks someone was giving her: She had high aspirations herself and she would use them to serve.

She reciprocated the smile Vahliri finally gave her and nodded. She knew that her penance wasn't over and that she still had much to learn, but being on the right track felt good. She was excited about arriving at Lantilles and actually making herself useful instead of carrying around stuff, fulfilling deliveries or sweeping corridors. Vahliri, however, soon made it rather clear that their conversation was coming to an end and that Celeste should rather go spend time somewhere else and so she did. She walked back to the room she had been assigned to and pulled out her data pad to retrieve more information on the Lantilles, as those could get rather useful.

As Vahliri had pointed out, it didn't take much longer until they already dropped out of hyperspace and after giving her hair some finishing touches, she stepped out to meet the Champion. Obviously, she was wearing a stunning gown, but Celeste was happy with her own attire as well. Before the ramp was fully lowered she put on the mask that was supposed to hide her actual identity and gave Vahliri a nod. "I'm ready" she then said, her voice determinedly and started following her down the ramp. She was slightly staying behind her, her steps in sync with the Champion and she had to admit to herself that starting a mission of diplomatic nature while wearing the colors of the Empire surely felt different, but it was in a completely positive way. Despite being at her lowest, she felt stronger than ever and she was absolutely ready to help Vahliri convince the Councils members that were supposedly expecting them in the huge, extravagant building ahead.

“Hopefully you’re still in touch with your diplomatic side,” Vahliri quipped towards Celeste without looking. Her gaze lingered on the decorated structure ahead, posture poised and twinged with an air of regality. For all the ways that the half-Annfyn was brash and undiplomatic by nature, Vahliri knew perfectly well how to play the part. Her upbringing had been steeped in the custom and ceremony of nobility, after all.

A train of ombré fabric drug ever-so-slightly behind her, until they finally reached the entrance. Just as they arrived, a trio of well-dressed men stepped forward to greet them. Each was dressed in expensive fabric and accessorized to signify their status as planetary leaders - though the man on the far left was adorned in more crisp, military-style attire.

At once, Vahliri dipped her head towards the trio, “Champion Vahliri Kahtal, Emissary of the Sith Empire in these negotiations.” Her amber gaze promptly flicked over to Celeste, gesturing a hand. “My Apprentice.” She said, leaving it vaguely at that. Unless otherwise decided, Vahliri had no intention of revealing the Acolyte’s true identity. “Thank you for accepting this summit.”

“Ms. Kahtal,” The man in the middle stepped forward, extending a hand to shake. “Welcome to Lantillies. I am Eldrige Revalo, First Minister of Lantillies.” He introduced himself, and then gestures to the man to his left. “General Renault Trist, Commander of our Armed Forces.” The First Minister then gestured to the man on his right. “And Francis Velki - Chosen representative of the Shipwright’s Guild.”

“Please follow me,”
He gestured them inside, “And we may get to the substance of our summit.” He smiled, diplomatic and polite, while lacking any genuine warmth. The Shipwrights representative remained silent.

“Aye,” The General cut in with a snort, his own countenance lacking any polite edge. “The faster we get to what you want, the better.”

As the two women strode closer to the massive, extravagant structure ahead, there was something graceful, yet powerful and dignified in their steps. What Vahliri answered slightly amused Celeste and a smirk immediately crossed her lips. "Of course" she confidently replied, not doubting her abilities. While certain parts of her had definitely been broken, her diplomatic talents were definitely not touched by that.

The duo was welcomed by three man who stepped forward to meet them and just like Vahliri, Celeste immediately inclined her head in a polite manner. Celeste knew that even though she was accompanying Vahliri as support, her position required her to hold back and hold her tongue at first. Thus, she briefly nodded as Vahliri introduced her, her face carefully hidden behind the mask she had been offered.

While the First Minister put in some effort to come across as polite as participants often did at such occasions, the General obviously didn't bother sticking to such pleasantries. Under her mask, a slight smirk crossed her lips as she already started to realize that their endeavor would be a little challenge, but since Celeste was always up for challenges, her spirits weren't dimmed.

If Vahliri hadn't introduced her as her apprentice, she would have already gotten back at the General, but for now she kept holding back and observed the situation instead. Testing the waters was often an important part of such summits and so she was already starting to analyze in order to assess the situation appropriately. The two women followed the trio inside and were thus led into a pompous chamber with high ceilings where the summit would obviously take place.

Through the introduction, Vahliri maintained a largely passive countenance - amber eyes flicking between the trio of Lantillian representatives. The half-Annfyn knew each likely had their own motivations and desires through these negotiations, and it would be their job to secure, at the very least, a majority of support. Though she said nothing, Vahliri couldn’t control the faintest narrowing of her eyes upon the General - easily picking up on the vitriol in his voice. It wasn’t hard to determine at once that he would be the key voice of dissent in these negotiations.

All the same, Vahliri opted not to rebuke him quite yet. Instead, she began to follow after the Minister - shoulders back and posture straight. Her amber gaze flicked towards Celeste, giving the Acolyte a nod of affirmation. It was a nonverbal reminder that even as her apprentice, Celeste would be expected to contribute to the conversation. This was as much a test of the Acolyte’s abilities as it was a diplomatic summit.

Stepping into the
luxurious meeting hall, Vahliri claimed her seat at the front of the table - seated just to the left of the First Minister. The other two representatives took their place nearby, and left a seat for Celeste just opposite the half-Annfyn. Only then did the First Minister raise a hand - flagging down a few drinks from a nearby droid.

“I believe we may begin,” The First Minister remarked, gesturing to Vahliri. “It is our understanding that the Empire is offering full membership and status to Lantillies, correct?”

The half-Annfyn nodded. “It is.” She sat up straight within her seat. “I have requested this meeting, to propose a partnership between the Sith Empire and Lantilies. With the Kilik swarm on the horizon, I believe it is more important than ever for the Galaxy to stand united. With the security that the Empire provides, and the booming industry here on Lantillies, I believe such an alliance would be to our mutual benefit.”

Despite holding back and maintaining a rather passive, observing attitude, she did get Vahliri's hint. She would obviously aid the conversation and support the Champion whenever it would become necessary while trying her best to persuade all three men.

Celeste was assuming that the Prime Minister was rather interested in a collaboration anyway, as the Empire would offer stability and security, while at the same time providing a strong, economical base. The latter fact would also contribute to the persuasion of the representative of the Shipwrights' company, as the information Celeste could already gather pointed to the fact that he was definitely a business man.

Lastly, there was the grumpy, apparently rather anti-imperial military officer who seemed like he would be the toughest nut to crack, but if they presented themselves as a Council of three, convincing two would suffice anyway, and so Celeste was indeed rather optimistic.

She took her seat next to Vahliri before elegantly crossing her legs, her concealed gaze directed at the First Minister as he spoke. Once Vahliri added her part, Celeste supported her statement by calmly adding:"Yes, Minister. We would offer the planet additional security and support, so that Lantilles would thrive even more. We all know that the civilians are most satisfied when they can enjoy the perks of prosperity and safety".

With that statement, she turned her face towards the rather quiet Shipwright's Guild representative. "Mister Veliki, we assume it would be in the Shipwright's Guild best interest to gain access to even more resources and a broader market, so a partnership would definitely prove beneficial for your interests as well", she said to the man, who attentively watched the two of them, however didn't say a word just yet. Strengthening his business would definitely be something the man would want, and it would be the Empire's intention to tend to that, as it would definitely help both sides.

She then turned towards the General, who still warily glanced at the two Sith representatives with obvious resentment which he didn't even bother to hide. "General Trist, I assume we don't have to lose ourselves in details about the Empire's military strength and success, however I do understand that certain preconceptions might have prevailed". According to the information commonly accessible, the man didn't seem to fond of Imperial politics, however he, too, would realize that Lantilles' military would profit from a collaboration with the Empire. "With further financial support, existing, prestigious academies could expand while Lantilles overall military force could be strengthened..." she was just listing one possible benefit, knowing that the prejudiced man would certainly stick to his opinions though. If he would be inclined towards independence, sweat talking might not be the best way, but she was still testing the waters.

At least initially, Vahliri allowed for Celeste to take the lead in negotiations, fingers knitted together pensively on the table. Admittedly, the half-Annfyn was curious to how well the Acolyte performed in such a diplomatic setting - and rather she was even worth investing time and resources into. Her fluted ears twitched ever-so-slightly during the course of the conversation, but otherwise her expression reflected nothing discernable.

The men at the table, however, didn’t seem to play their hands as close to their chest. Though he said nothing, Celeste would clearly see the way that the Minister seemed to nod his head ever-so-slightly - his expression reflecting some agreement with what he was saying. The man had little stake in the negotiations except for the prosperity of his people.. And few could argue that diplomatically-joined worlds in the Empire didn’t do well. It was those that resisted who often suffered. And with the Kilik threat? The need for security was all the more pressing.

All the same - he said nothing. While the Minister himself had no ulterior motives - the same couldn’t be said for his companions, men whose support the Minister relied upon to properly govern and administer the planet. Upsetting either of them wasn’t within his interests, and neither was making a premature decision. It was incumbent upon the pair of Sith to convince one of or both his companions. The Minister would make - regardless of outcome - protect his own career by going with the majority.

“Certain preconceptions?” The General practically spat the words, burly fists clenching atop the table. “It wasn’t long ago that the Empire considered Lantilies to be the enemy. That myself and my men trained to fight against Imperials - who killed countless of our brothers and sisters, and torched our sister worlds.” Though he didn’t rise from his seat, Celeste would be able to feel the anger that radiated off of him. “And now you come here - offering some ‘prestigious’ academy presence, and token military support?” The General couldn’t argue that Lantilies wouldn’t benefit militarily from the arrangement, but accepting Imperial aid was like swallowing poison, from his perspective.

“Lantilies left the FWA to remove ourselves from your war. Why the hell would we willingly enter it again, on the opposite side?”

“Because the war between the Jedi and Sith isn’t the primary concern, now.” Vahliri finally cut in, amber eyes piercing into the General. “Because the Kilik Swarm has emerged and will attempt to consume everyone, and everything in its path. It has attacked all of us - and neutral systems will be the first to fall. Where they know defenses will be the weakest.” She tilted her head a bit. “Can you honestly claim any confidence, standing alone against the threat? Or will you rely upon the charity of others to come to your aid, when it arrives on your doorstep?”

Her brow arched. “Just how inclined do you believe the FWA to aid your plight, after you abandoned them?”

Meanwhile, Representative Velki turned to look at Celeste. The man.. Didn’t really care about the war, or any previous grievances. His interests aligned purely with those of his fellow Shipwrights, and boiled down to the most profitable arrangement overall. Thus far? He was rather unconvinced with Celeste’s assertions.

“Pardon my hesitation, Acolyte,” He said, not particularly sure how to address the woman. “But I fail to see how a partnership with the Empire would expand our markets whatsoever,” He reclined back into his seat. “As a neutral system, Lantilies enjoys the benefits of being able to independently sell ships to the highest bidder. Whether they be Imperial, Alliance, Republic or private buyers.” He arched a brow. “I can only presume, that by joining the Empire, Lantillies would be forced to discontinue sales with the Alliance or Imperial competitors.”

“Moreover, what guarantees can you provide that the Empire would not simply move to nationalize production here on Lantilies - removing myself, and my compatriots at the guild, from our jobs?”

If her face hadn't been concealed by the mask that was cloaking her identity, Celeste had given them the chance to study her mimic as well, but this was a one way street today and so she didn't have to bother hiding her true emotions. While the Prime Minister couldn't deny anything the two women outlines, the General was obviously displeased with their proposal. So an actual challenge awaited...

She calmly listened to what he said, but he wouldn't see how she narrowed her eyes as he spat those words in their direction. Of course be was mistrusting and of course he thought they'd be better off alone...She had had such discussions before and they could actually get quite unpleasant, but convincing the General wasn't even their main concern. They could still try to win him over, but two out of three would also be enough. They had to clever about this after all.

When Vahliri reacted, Celeste curtly nodded, calmly adding "Independent planets are indeed often the first to falter. Lantilles wouldn't have to worry about lacking support if we'd collaborate...We are all much stronger together". Even the civilians would understand that the Empire wouldn't only able to boost the economy further, but that they'd be of great help in terms of the galactical thread of the Killiks.

The Shipwright's Guild representative wasn't too convinced for now and so the rather quiet man turned to Celeste, laying his doubts open. Of course he had a point from his perspective, but there was more to it. The word acolyte kept echoing thtough her head as she wasn't exactly proud of this title, yet it also reminded her of her current position and that a lot was at stake here. As she had no information on whether or not any of the three was force sensitive, she was not taking the risk of aiding her words with the Force and so she had to rely on her diplomatic skills. "While it is true that some sales would need to be discontinued, I can only emphasize how Imperial planets thrive. You'd gain countless new potential buyers who'd be more than happy to purchase your prestigious, reliable ships" she, too, leaned back, her voice as polite as his, "You seek profit, and that is exactly what awaits. As an independent planet, your taxes on imported goods are higher and you're losing money in the resources you need to acquire to build your ships. Imagine what would happen if those fees lessened, because you would profit from beneficial trade agreements. You'd be able to expand and we all know that expanding businesses functions as a multiplying factor when there are enough bidders, and I can assure you that there are countless. The Empire is always interested in strengthening their fleets".

To adress his second question, she leaned a but forward again, hands folded on the table. "Why would they remove you from your jobs? The Shipwright's Guild has definitely proven that those in charge know exactly what they're doing. You're successful, experienced and clever, that isn't hard to tell. The Empire would appreciate your skills" She wasn't trying to charm him with meaningless flattery, but the man seemed capable indeed and they could make use out of capable minds. "Another aspect you should consider are the Killik. They could threaten the future of the Guild and in terms of long-term stability and security, the Empire would provide enough resources to ensure that the Shipwright's Guild will flourish for centuries. Lantillies stands alone" she added, bringing fourth an argument that concerned his business as well. He might be interested in profit and economical strength, but this wouldn't prevail if the Killik would attempt to infiltrate the system.

For a moment or two, silence fell across the audience chamber. Though he said nothing, the General was visibly fuming - both due to his disdain for the Empire, and for the fact that he couldn’t really argue with what Vahliri or Celeste were saying. The simply reality was; Lantillies couldn’t stand against the Kilik’s alone, and they couldn’t rely upon the FWA any more to protect them.

The man balled his fists together until his knuckles turned white, playing it all out in his mind. He knew that the Empire had much to offer - even if it caused his blood to boil.

The Shipwright Representative, however, had much more to say. The man leaned forward in his seat, drumming his fingers against the table for a long moment. “You offer much, Acolyte. Truly.” He titled his head ever-so-slightly. “And I believe that my fellows at the Guild would be willing to meet such terms - assuming that we can iron out a few, small details.” He smiled.

He tapped his fingers across a datapad, pulling up a list of terms before sliding it across the table for Vahliri and Celeste to read.

“Assuming we can come to an agreement, you will have my support.”

- Excluding contracts between enemies of the state, the Empire will honor all pre-existing contracts between the Shipwright's - Guild and third-party clients.
- Five-years of tax relief on all material goods import to Kril Dor.
- Imperial commitment to invest into Shipwright property, including shipyards and other manufacturing facilities.
- Official pledge to maintain the structure and authority of the Shipwright's Guild.
