Waste Rangers

No names, just deeds

Waste Rangers
The fire burns, but the smoke is far away. While the cowards the self-serving and apathetic watch it drift, the Waste Rangers ride out into the blaze. On foot, on speeder, on ship we search the galaxy for such fires with the soul purpose of snuffing them out. Waste Rangers travel without word of their intent, nor boast of their previous actions. We do not survive on the kindness of strangers, but instead show kindness to them. Our purpose is simply to find any and all scum and villainy and bring it to justice no matter the cost, to show those that skulk in the dark that the light is coming and it will never dim until it reaches even the farthest edge of the universe. We dirty our hands so the innocent can stay clean, but never shall we descend to the levels of our foes, we shall not murder, nor steal, but instead shall apprehend or kill in self defense. To achieve our goals we shall not dig into the meager earnings of those we save, but instead shall do good deeds for the well off as well to turn their excess into incidental philanthropy. Waste Rangers must be sturdy and able to bear their own weight, but in times of need will know that their fellow rangers will have their back to the bitter end if need be. The galaxy is going to hell, we're no angels, but currently we're the best the galaxy's got.

Goals

The Rangers are a loose collective of people from all walks of life. Former officers make up their ranks as well as former criminals so a hard set of endgame goals is difficult to sieve from the diverse group. Still there is a group of universal desires. For one every Ranger should at the forefront desire peace, but a good peace that is acceptable to all and leaves non oppressed or in great need.

Within the Ranger's founding ranks there are divisions who all seek different ends to the one universal goal. Ross Hakina a former CorSec officer feels the best way to fufill the goal of better and safer worlds is to aid the good people. To seek out those who fight evil and stand by them helping them stand against forces that might otherwise be crushing. He also focuses on slavery as he sees it as the greatest evil he ever had to combat in his time as an officer. To him a freed slave is a saved life and a slaver brought low is all the more lives saved.

Others focus on the punishment aspect of Justice like Scalia Gray. This young woman is concerned with the simple act of making sure that the evil are struck down. Defend a good person a hundred times from a killer and the hundred and first time if you fail to defend that good person is still dead, but if you kill the killer the first time then that person will be safe. It seems pretty cut and dry to her. Punishment should fit the crime of course, so she is hoping the Rangers might soon establish a prison for lesser offenders. Scalia's other focus is security on Zonju V and the retaking of her home Sathad'Ra. When the Saloon fell the first time she saw her home destroyed by evil wicked men and there was nothing they could do to stop it, never again did she want that fate to befall her. So she leads scouting efforts to stay one step ahead of the enemy in all things.

A more practical wing in the Ranger fold is led by Vince wants to make sure the Rangers perform good deeds, but are properly compensated for them. He feels the Rangers best shot at taking down corrupt men with fat wallets is to beat them at their own game by having fatter wallets without sacrificing our ideals. His main goals are to take down bounties and perform other small time work until we have enough money to establish Ranger businesses. Vince also sees the Rangers as one piece of the puzzle and stresses diplomacy over strong-armed tactics.

Lastly is Archimedes, a relative newcomer. He stresses exploration of the worlds and technological research can bring its own benefits to many people. True he's been working in weapon research, but he's also concerned with the world's history, it's flora and fauna, and most importantly what the hell those satellites in the sky were for. Archimedes sees any kind of growth in knowledge as a step in the right direction.

His combatant is ignorance and all of you can help him defeat this wily foe. It's Archimedes' desire that Zonju V grow out of it's prolonged dark age and soon be bathed in the light of revelation that only science and understanding can bring. Frankly the other Rangers think he's batty, but his work helps them all so he'd love your aid in his endeavors

Philosophy

Rangers first and foremost concern is justice and what exactly it entails.

Is justice to act as some physical arbiters of karma, to destroy the wicked and uplift the holy? Or is it something less personal, focusing upon acts more than persons. Should the goal of justice be to help the wicked onto a lighter path or rather should it be to punish them so they chose to stick to the path out of fear?

Ultimately every Ranger will answer these pressing questions differently which is the strength of the organization. To allow a free flow of debate and interpretation all ideas can be given a good amount of thought before an action is made.

The Waste Rangers have no leader, they do have senior officers, but anything they ask of any other ranger is merely advisement. It is recommended that greener members team up with senior officers. These pairs are known colloquially in the organization as Sheriff and Deputy. Though these are merely titles and neither has any control over the other.

Still a unifying sense of what a Waste Ranger is was needed so Ross and Hiro constructed the Code of the Ranger, a collection of beliefs that every Ranger should strive to abide by. These universal ideals shape the Rangers, but in the end it is the Rangers acting as justice's agent in the galaxy that answer the questions of how to make a better universe.

The Code of the Ranger
This is our creed
This is our duty
To do no harm to innocents no matter the end you seek
To fight evil always, even when it seems impossible
To shoulder the burdens of the weak
To uplift the oppressed and enslaved
To see past facades and masks and judge those by their acts alone
Through desert, through tundra, through endless waste
We shall not cease the march of justice
