DESCRIPTION​

The R5R Blaster Rifle uses the base R5 Pistol fitted with the appropriate rifle upgrade kit. This kit consists of an extended barrel and underslung power converter which increases its range and capacity, along with a sturdy plastoid stock for stability and a 3x power scope for mid to long range combat. The end result is a compact but rugged and reliable rifle with familiar controls and handling for those accustomed to using the base pistol.

While the idea never entirely caught on for the average consumer, resulting in disappointing sales, this modularity makes it ideal for low-budget militias and security forces who can't afford to buy, maintain, and train on numerous weapons at once. After several shipments "disappeared" en-route from the factory to distribution centers, the weapons began to see more and more frequent use in Rebel hands, and the R5 system is now the standard issue weapon system for Rebel troops.

Users with the appropriate upgrade kits can disassemble and reassemble an R5 Blaster from Pistol to Carbine or Rifle mode or vice-versa in two posting rounds.

LEGALITY​

The open carry of rifles by unauthorized personal is not permitted on many industrialized planets, although permits for security officers, bounty hunters, and other individuals with the need are available.
