DESCRIPTION​

Some starships, in the eyes of their owners, just don't have enough firepower. While the majority of freighters are armed with at least a pair of dual medium laser turrets, some owners feel they need just a little extra punch in a firefight, and thus will endeavor to fit heavier weapons to their craft. A popular upgrade is quad laser cannons. Quad medium turrets fit anywhere a standard medium turret will, while providing a significant boost to rate of fire and overall destructive capacity.

Quad medium laser turrets replace a single or dual medium laser turret on most starships, and increase firepower accordingly. They are restricted in most jurisdictions, and are not especially easy to get hold of, but they can be had with the right effort or credits. Quad medium laser turrets can also generally not be fitted to anything that does not already have a medium turret mount.

Due to the extra power draw of quad laser turrets, ships fitted with them as an upgrade are less reliable than normal in combat. At least once in 5 posting rounds, the turret will fail and have to be reset, an action which takes up 1 posting round.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Quad medium laser cannons are powerful weapons, and are generally limited to military or law enforcement use without special permits and licensing. Having them installed is also a very visible mod.
