DESCRIPTION
The Q-300 RoBarge-class automatic freighter is a heavy drone barge manufactured by Transport Automation Unlimited, a company which specializes in building automated spacecraft for various logistical applications. One of their most popular products, the RoBarge is a common sight on industrial worlds and major tradeports. It and drone barges like it are said to form the true backbone of interstellar commerce in the Galaxy.

RoBarge-class freighters are relatively simple craft, not much more than a set of drive systems attached to an enormous cargo hold. The ship is controlled by a simple droid pilot brain, which can just about follow an assigned course, perform simple hyperspace calculations, maintain formation with other craft and avoid obstacles in its way. RoBarges, being automated, are not equipped with any sort of crew or passenger accommodations, not even life support. Though some beings will attempt to stow away on drone barges, this is considered highly dangerous without proper precautions, such as an environmental suit and sufficient consumables. Drones such as the RoBarge can remain in space for months or occasionally even years at a time.

Drone freighters like the RoBarge are typically used to transport large volumes of inert cargo, typically waste from industrial sites, unprocessed bulk ore and other low-value materials. Though they can navigate themselves, drone barges are generally equipped with a full-rig slave circuit, allowing a control ship to take direct command and pilot them remotely. Drone barges typically travel in vast fleets, either on a pre-set course or shepherded by a crewed control vessel guiding them all by remote.

Drones are notably susceptible to piracy; being completely unarmed, they cannot fight, and their slave circuitry makes them almost trivial for the average slicer to hijack. Even slightly valuable cargoes are typically not transported by drone barge, which is their main form of defense.

LEGALITY
Legal. Drone barges such as the RoBarge are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To create a standard drone barge.

RESTRICTIONS
Though not very capable vessels otherwise, RoBarge-class vessels can carry a phenomenal amount of cargo. They are typically faction assets, although they could also serve as the focal point of a player run business venture.
