The Azadi punched out of hyperspace of New Alderaan and Senator Cal Starros punched in the coordinates for their landing, as he broadcast his diplomatic codes to the regional command. "Pilot, take us down." the ship swept in low over the skyline of the robust world, making steady progress toward the world below. After a few minutes, the high powered vessel pulled up and touched down on the designated landing pad.

Cal stood, and headed through the vessel to the exit ramp.

Heading down with his Droid and aide in tow, Senator Starros was pleased to be met by Nicolas Clément, a man with whom he was working closely on the defence of their shared space. He smiled as he greeted the man "Senator, it is a pleasure as always. I must admit I don't believe I have been to New Alderaan in years." he remarked "From our communications, you know I am here on unpleasant business I am afraid - war. With the increase in Sith aggression, and out proximity to their borders, my Government has asked me to secure vessels for a fleet of our own."

"I have arranged for us to meet representatives from some of the shipyards, Senators. And, Lothal has made available a sizable sum to make a solid purchase."

Cal thanked his aide with a nod "Senator, you are perhaps more learned than I on the structure of fleets. Whilst I have a handle on the finances, your advice on the structure of the fleet, would be most welcome before we speak to the suppliers."

It was always good to see his friend and his Senatorial counterpart from Lothal. Nicolas and Cal, like the respective worlds they represent, have a lot in common. Nicolas was standing by at the meeting area with a protocal droid in tow, that's his normal assistant. Their respective agendas are very common, strengthening each other's defenses and military capabilities especially with the recent acts by the Sith and Republic's growing tension.

Nicolas likewise smiling back at Cal as they met, he nodded and agreed. "Nice to meet you again as well, we are happy to recieve you nontheless." he would grin back "And yes of course, I'm happy to help. I've been working with upper government on military and showing with the Royal Engineers. I'll see what I can do." after all, he's helping him with strengthening the New Alderaan Royal Engineers. It's not just that he doesn't want to be a bad friend, but helping Cal is in the Free World's best interest. Nicolas wasn't the most adapt with military.

"Well then, we ready to head out?" He would ask. If so, he would follow the good Senator of Lothal.

There was a huge amount of relief that washed over the Senator when he saw his counterpart from New Alderaan. Had the man not been here, Cal was reasonably sure the day's events would have seen him blagging his way through talks he barely understood. Shaking Nicolas hand as he approached, Cal was keen to get going.

"It's never something I really wanted to do, or how I saw my career going. Haggling for warships with a clique of industrialists, however, difficult times and all that." he said as they walked into the meeting room "We are looking for a smattering rapid response ships, corvettes and frigates I think they call them. My aides suggest a single fleet would be sufficient, enough to defend our world and send to the aid of others."

Cal saw the assembled representatives of the Trade Guilds and the Factories, sat around a large circular table. He smiled at them as he took his seat, with space for Nicolas next to him.

"Thank you all for coming. On behalf of the people of Lothal, I am authorised to negotiate for the purchase of your ships." he inserted a code cylinder, showing his diplomatic codes, as the other negotiators nodded.

Nicolas sympathized with Cal's thoughts, Nicolas got into politics when the galaxy was a time of peace, around the time he became Senator, the evil cult with the red lightsabers known as the Sith were revealed to still be out there even though everyone thought they met their end over one-hundred years ago. The Senator of New Alderaan nodded as he understood what he was looking for them. "I believe the Frigates could serve as the backbone of the fleet, and the corvettes can move quickly."

Anyways, they made contact with the trade guilds and other manufacturers. Nicolas would take a seat alongside his Lothal partner. "And even though I am the Senator of New Alderaan, I'm here for Lothal as well." he said as he would back his partner up. Nicolas would present his code cylinder as well.

"We ready to get started?" If everyone would agree, they can move on.

With that, one of the merchants at the table will speak. First of all, starting off with a represenative of the Domel-Berger Yards. A male Aqualish would stand up, wearing a robe. "I'm Corr Madar of the Domel-Berger Yards. This is a pleasure to meet with you." the alien would say in basic. "May I interest you in a selection of our fine ships?" the alien would then pull a projector device out of his robe and then put it on the table. The holo projector would then project the images of some various ships. "First, we have the Berex-class Carrier, can hold up to almost smallcraft" the holo projector would also show other technical information about them. "The Bolo class Corvette, decently fast and has a good amount of weapons." Nicolas would then look towards Cal, as that's along the class of ships he wants, although it is slower than modern day corvettes. "Lastly, we have a special one: The Fenion-class Cloakship. With a cloaking device, it is invisible to the eye and from sensors." the Aqualish boasted. Looking at the technical infomation, it is a corvette. The ability to cloak and fire heavy torpedos is interesting..."

Nicolas would then whisper to his partner "The stealth ship is interesting, but these ships move slower in hyperspace with their lower hyperdrive rating" So that's something Cal would have to keep in mind. "Your call if you want to get some of them" Nicolas is thinking he wants to hear some of the other representives out.

The Senator kept his thoughts to himself as the assembled magnates and agents made their products known to the two of them. A lot of it went over his head, and he found himself slipping into the logic that "bigger ships are better" in some cases, or "I recognise that one" in others. Despite this, he did his best to feign an understanding, with practised political ease as he nodded along and made affirming noises every so often.

Clemente seemed pretty clear cut on his recommendation that frigates should be the backbone of the fleet, and that suited Starros, who didn't know any better, down to the ground.

"Your ships are very tempting Sir, I must admit this is most likely going to be a defensive fleet, with range for rapid response missions. So, a Carrier, the Crovettes, and the stealth options are idea." he wieghed up the options, before lowering his voice and turning to the Senator for New Alderaan "The stealth vessels could be most useful. We have a moon, and other astrological objects they could anchor at in case of invasion, providing a 'surprise attack' as it where?" he thought out loud, before turning back to the gentleman before him.

"We're also looking at frigates, and fighters - I understand they're reasonably important for a fleet as well?"

OOC - Sometimes I find taking a month to reply makes threads better, honest.
