PILGRIM'S POINT

Pilgrim's Point is an orthodox Jedi enclave and botany and horticulture research center on Jedha, the "Pilgrim Moon" of the planet NaJedha. Pilgrim's Point is located on the cliff of the crater of what once was Jedha City before it was destroyed by the Death Star. The enclave looks out over the large crater, a reminder of what the Dark Side is capable of and of the great holy city for those who believe in the Force.

CULTURE
The longstanding tradition of the enclave is much more traditional than the Jedi Order. They adhere to principles and standards that are almost identical to those of the Jedi Order during era of the Galactic Republic and before the ascension of Darth Sidious to the position of Emperor. The Jedi who call Pilgrim's Point home live a mostly monastic lifestyle. It's a communal existence with very little private ownership and romantic relationships are strictly forbidden. They adhere strictly to the Three Pillars and the original Jedi Code:

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

The Jedi Knights and Masters at Pilgrim's Point rarely focus on martial skill. In fact, a majority of the Jedi on Pilgrim's Point do not carry a lightsaber and rarely leave the enclave. They study plants and how to manipulate them using the Force. They have built an extensive library, but have made it a point not to hold important relics or rare or dangerous texts so as not to be a target.

HISTORY
Pilgrim's Point initially began in 51 ABY as an outpost to research the feasibility by the Jedi Order to help reestablish Jedha City, rebuild the Temple of Kyber, and build a network to research and protect any remaining Kyber crystals embedded in the moon. Because of the barren landscape and because the work proved to be quite dull and monotonous, it typically only attracted and kept the Jedi who were not seekers of adventure or aging Jedi who no longer wished to travel around the galaxy and were anxious to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main Jedi hubs.

In 56 ABY, the outpost general, an Ithorian Jedi Master named Sal-Ta Bayat, became frustrated with the lack of progress. His primary pursuits had been Jedi history and botany, so he transitioned the purpose of the outpost to a research horticulture research facility, a throwback to the Jedi AgriCorps. The cold, prolonged winters of Jedha did not lend itself well to the research of growing crops, and Master Bayat instead started diverting funds intended to begin the groundwork for preparing Jedha City for a reemergence and the rebuilding of the Temple of Kyber to building large greenhouses connected to the enclave to facilitate his own research.

Once the Jedi Council discovered that Master Bayat abandoned the original purpose of Pilgrim's Point to begin botanical research and horticulture advancement, he was relieved of his position. Bayat was warmly received, however, by the Jedi who called Pilgrim's Point home. This caused a fracture of sorts between the outpost and the rest of the Order, and soon they worked almost autonomously. Both the enclave and the Jedi Council have always considered the Jedi at Pilgrim's Point full members of the Order, but have decided to hold each other at arm's length.

The division also allowed the outpost's culture to develop more organically, and a number of factors made it almost inevitable that it would begin reverting back to the culture, code, and belief systems held by the Jedi Order of long ago. As they are able, the enclave continues to expand their greenhouse network.

CURRENT MAKEUP
At its peak, the enclave held nearly 150 Jedi Knights and Masters. However, it's always been an aging group, and over the last several decades, the interest in joining has not matched death and leaving rate of the Jedi that are part of this monastic branch of the Order. Pilgrim's Point currently houses less than fifty Jedi and despite the advanced average age of the Jedi, less than ten are Masters.

Because they hold to the tenets of the Jedi Order of old, they respect the current Council's mandate of not seeking out Force sensitive children, but they do not turn away parents or others who present them with Force sensitive children. Younglings are brought up in a very orthodox manner, but very few of them serve as Padawans under Knights and Masters at the enclave due to the lack of mission experience their master would be able to provide. As students are prepared to take a master and begin their journey as a Padawan, they are almost always presented to the Council for placement with one of their Knights or Masters. Pilgrim's Point currently has roughly twenty younglings under their care.

The enclave has a Jedi Council of sorts of their own. They only have authority over issues concerning Pilgrim's Point, and is a council of three. They still defer to the Jedi Council if given a directive, however. Giving due to respect to the positions of Grandmaster and Master of the Council, the highest position of the Council overseeing the Jedi at Pilgrim's Point is called, "Head Councilor," a position currently held by Master Yuul Tik.

INTENT

The intent is to be site lore that provides additional depth to the culture of the current Jedi Order, a location/outpost that is fair game for RPs by all site members, and provides an official writeup for the Jedi enclave that is described in Isen's biography and has been brought in several RPs in the past.
