There were robots everywhere and Ora thought it was literally the coolest thing ever. There were battle droids (though they were stripped of their weapons) and protocol droids, scout droids, and even someone with an old 3P0-series model! The 3P0 model was still a protocol droid, yes, but it was old and that's what made it so cool.

The entire building was bustling with people too, which was also pretty cool. There were people from all sorts of backgrounds here, from men and women in suits representing the interests of mega-corps, to university clubs showcasing their prized robotic creations, to vintage- and antique-droid collectors proudly displaying their collections.

And then there was Ora.

How she'd secured even a stall in the back corner was beyond her. It was a mixture of luck, being at the right place at the right time, and what she hoped was an actual appreciation for her creations. Orautomatons was an unknown brand. Even on her own level, it was the sort of thing people could find if they looked, but it wasn't just out there. Not yet, at least. Ora was convinced there was a market for what she was selling. After all, making droids that look like animals was totally an untouched market in her opinion.

The pink-skinned Nautolan had set up with stall with her company name plastered across the front of the stand, along with pictures of various robots she was working on, finished commissions, and even had the prototype model for her 0W1-series droid with her. Ora would admit the butterflies in her stomach were almost unbearable, but they were equally matched by her excitement at just being there.

"So this is a prototype droid for one of the oranimal droid lines we're working on..."

The Nautolan could be found eagerly explaining how the droid worked to someone's kid who'd wandered over - the only other person at her stall for the moment.

Robots, droids are actually the coolest thing ever, Newton thought, he was into droids as he was a child, assembled his first one, and designing droids for a megacorporation was a dream fulfilled of his.

It is rare the CEO of Blackwell Tech as some freetime, he would be strolling around at the convention. Newton would be wearing casual clothing, as to not draw attention to himself. It's really hard not drawing attention to yourself when you are 'top dog' of the galaxy's premier megacorporation and being one of the galaxy's brightest minds of the century. He was looking at other people's work here. Old droids, an old 3PO unit. Intriguing. Some old refurbished CIS era battle droids sans any weapons. Quaint. At some point, Newton's companion astromech droid M7 was with him, but stopped and then strode over to a stall called Orautomatons. The small droid saw her and her owl droid, as a pink-skinned Nautolan was showcasing the droid to a child.

Newton stopped, wondering where his M7 went. It's really unusual for him to disappear on his own. But M7 would sneak up on Newton and then poke him with a manipulator arm. "Hey buddy, where did you go off too?" M7 would respond with a series of beeps, but understanding binary he knew what it means. "Oh, I see. Alright then" he looked over at the Orautomatons stall.

He would approach. And he saw the pink-skinned Nautolan and that droid of hers she was showing off. It looked good. "Impressive design. Marvelous machine." he said to her after he studied it. It reminds Newton of his own Altair droid. If Newton had to be honest, he liked seeing all these new droids. He knows most models of droids that exist in the galaxy, so anything new might surprise him, which he would like. Newton would then look at the person. "Hey there, nice to meet you. That is a fine looking droid you got there" he said.

"...I designed it after these old things called owls so people can see it as—"

"Impressive design?" Ora looked up and away from the curious child, and her red eyes widened exponentially when they recognized the face of the man who was addressing her. Newton Arden? The CEO of Blackwell Tech? Here, at her rinky-dink stall in the corner of this place? "Holy shit holy shit holy shi—"

"Oh! Hi! Thank you!" The Nautolan was caught completely off-guard and left stumbling over her words. She needed to get her shit together! "W- Absolutely wonderful to meet you too! Uh..."

"Shit, Ora, get a grip!" There was a noticeable moment of silence before the woman continued, forcing herself to move despite the state of awe she found herself in. "This is our 0W1-series prototype droid! I designed it after the owl, which I personally thought was fitting because their main feature is video recording..."

Ora went off into her little spiel about her design choice, the current and intended features, and the capabilities of the 0W1-series prototype model she had with her. She explained how it was designed to be able to keep up with skimboard racers to make a perspective recording of racers easier, but was also for everyday use as she'd installed holographic projectors in a small module in the beak. At her command, the prototype did such that, and a holovideo showcasing a bunch of kids skimboarding through the streets played. The video was taken by the owl, Ora explained, and both Arden and the bright-eyed kiddo watching would see as the camera smoothly moved in between the kids to get some very cinematic perspective shots.

"—And, of course, since it's modeled after an animal, it has a few fun quirks to it!" The 0W1-series droid then showed its ability to turn its head almost 170° degrees around. The face didn't have any artificial expression to it, but it could cock its head to the side.

The Blackwell Executive smiled humbly as the pinked skin alien recognized him and seemed off guard by his presence. She must definitely recognize his him, his position, and what he does

As for her going over the droid's features and stuff, Newton nodded along interested. With what she showed, she with her presumably lesser resources managed to more or less make something and design something that's more or less on par with his Altair droid, but the way the droid looks is more impressive and can catch on better with the masses.

"Ah, very nice! Very nice indeed" Newton gave props, would look down at his droid companion M7 "What do you think?" and M7 would beep in affirmative. As droid enthusiasts they should both me able to understand. "By the way, you can call me Newton." he said, introducing himself and he perfers to be addressed by his first name he will be cool to pointt that out. "And this is my buddy M7" he gesture towards his R3 unit at his side, the droid would make a friendly beep.

Newton would then example the stall, look over more of the concepts as he is now interested. Newton would look back to her and then inquire more about her company. "So Orautomatons is it? Can you tell me more about your company?"

"...by the way, you can call me Newton..."

"Ora! Ora Trel! Nice to meet you Mr. Newton, and M7!" Her hand would shoot out to offer to shake his hand, and if he accepted it, she would give it one- no, two firm shakes. To M7 she would give a friendly wave.

"I founded Orautomatons earlier this year - a couple months after I finished school. I joined a robotics club in high school, and ever since then I've just- I just really love working with and making droids! It's just me, for the moment, though. I make all the droids myself on commission for now, but I'm looking to expand!"

Pretty soon she'd be making a run out to Sullust to pick up some supplies from the SoroSuub Corporation. Once she got her prototypes solidified, she could start selling them as-is rather than as-commissioned.

Newton would shake on that hand firmly and M7 would extend it's manipulator arm out to reply with a friendly wave of his own. So, looking to expand, interesting. And the story of his interests in droids was the same as well. "Ah, my interest in droids too started at a younger age. I assembled M7 here before I was even a teenager." he said.

"And looking to expand, good. Good." he nodded his head. It's always good to see others try to break into the field. Before anything else, he would then make one inquiry about her products. "Any concepts to look forward to from Orautomatons in the near future? Or any ideas?" he would ask. Doesn't have to be a concrete set-in-stone plan or anything. Just an idea or two would suffice.

"Before he was even a teenager?" So what, before he was thirteen? Eleven? "That's so young!" Ora hadn't even gotten into robotics until she was in high school. "Am I too late to get into this, then?" No, surely not. "I mean, even if I am behind the curve, I'm the one talking to Newton fucking Arden!"

"Yup! Expansion! Uh, I've got some more droid concepts. One's a little spider guy I've been working on, but other than commissions, I'm trying to keep myself to two or three droid series until I can get more, er, assets." Her warehouse had lots of storage and plenty of work space, but she didn't have a factory like other droid companies. Once she got enough money, she'd pay off that loan, then purchase enough supplies to get a real assembly line working.

"I wanna go go go! But, I figure it'll be better in the long run if I make sure I've got all my rats in a row." Ora chuckled. Maybe she should make a rat bot? "It could be a toy line...advertise it with 'Aw, rats!' "

The Nautolan woman then decided that she was too excited about Newton being here to keep talking about herself. "So, what are you doing here?" Wait, was that rude? Shit! "Er, uh, I mean- Do you often come to events like these? Does being the CEO of Blackwell take up a lot of your time, usually?"

Newton smiled as the young lady listed her next concept. "I see" he responds. Little spider droid and some other commissions. "Your instinct is correct, thinking long term is better than rushing things." It took many years of hardwork to get to where his now, stages. "One stage at a time" he advised. That's how Newton took things, one leg at time, one footstep at a time. Before too long she will reach her destination.

As for the next question, what's he doing here. Newton would then smile. "I'm just admiring the talent here and this is a nice change of scenery." he would give a light chuckle. "I do. Being CEO would take up a lot of my time, a lot of tedious paperwork, a lot of boring meetings, lots of calls." a pause "But luckily, I have my own protocol droid that handles most of that for me." His assistant droid L3 although she is snarky and gives Newton flak for things, she has her uses, she's capable no doubt. Newton perfers doing things rather than doing all the above. At one point Newton was hesitant to go for the CEO position but he ended up doing anyways.

"Hmmmm." he was thinking. "How about later, sometime soon after this we have another chat?" he could see other people behind him just waiting to see her booth. Newton has... ideas. And this may not be the best setting to discuss, if she's up for it of course.

Ora thought she was through the bubbling excitement of getting to meet and talk to the Newton Arden, but it all came back full force when he suggested they find time to chat again.

"Yes!" Shit, too excited! "I- I mean, sure! I will look forward to it." She did her best to recover, but it would still be plainly obvious the offer was very exciting to the Nautolan woman.

Once Newton wandered off, the kid who had been patiently standing there the whole time would finally pipe up. "So can I hold the owl droid, now?"
-----
Later that day, Ora was slowly packing up her stall at the convention. A couple more people had come over to inquire - the most of which had arrived immediately after seeing Arden stop by - but the Blackwell CEO was most definitely the most interesting person she'd spoken to that day.

"I think everyone liked you today, buddy!" The Nautolan woman to a break from packing up to give her OW1 droid a few little pats on the head. It hardly reacted to them, and that caused her to shake her head and laugh a little. "I guess I need to finish that bit of your AI, don't I?" The question was, how affectionate should she make the droids? "I could probably make it adjustable..."

It wasn't long before she finished up. "Alright buddy, I gotta go talk to the Newton Arden now." Ora was almost as excited as she was nervous! "Wish me luck."

Newton would be waiting for the door, and she sees that the yong pink Nautolan lady is ready. He would have his astromech droid with him as usual. "Hello there again" he smiled "If you are ready, then right this way, he would hold the door open for him. Please come inside, we can talk in private in there" he would point to his luxurious Tempest limousine that wouldn't be too far away, it's engine still running, and then a droid standing in attendance at the door with it's ramp down, waiting for people to come in.

"How did the rest of the convention go?" he would casually ask. "Get some more traffic?" he smiled.

Once Ora would get inside the passenger section, she would find that the inside of the craft is as luxurious as it's sleek elegant exterior would suggest. There is an autochef, there is a refresher, as well as a holographic entertainment systems. Lots of amenities to enjoy. Newton would get seated in a seat in the passenger section after/if Ora would get herself situated in there

"Hi!" Ora would greet as she followed him inside. Her red eyes widened at the sheer luxury she was walking into, but she forced herself not to comment on any of it. "Is this his usual transportation?" She suddenly felt a little out of place in her attire, which was quite plain in comparison. What was her version of business casual compared to this place?

"It went well! I got a couple of pre-orders even!" Ora paused. That probably wasn't anything compared to Blackwell, huh? "What do I say?" Wait, he invited her here! "This car is very nice," she would comment.

"Nice, nice..." Newton replied, good that the rest of the convention went well for her, Newton figured it would have. "Feel free to help yourself and make yourself comfortable" the Executive would gesture towards the refreshments and the other amenities, his treat.

Newton would allow some time for her to do that, then afterwards, Newton would gesture M7 to go ahead and take off the ship, all checks are done and after that the cloud limousine would then lift off, and begin moving. Through the windows, they both would have quite the view of the ecumenopolis world.

Without further to do, Newton would ask. "So, how about we talk about some business..." he said. "How open are you to do the idea of an investment? I'll get you a good deal of credits, use that to expand your operations, business .etc and then at a certain point, I'll be paid back more with interest." he would ask.

A tempting question for an entrepreneur that is, Ora will get some valuable funding for her small business, but when the bell rings Newton will need that money back and more. But then again there is something to consider, being the CEO of a Mega-Corp, Newton may not play nice if he doesn't get his money back, regardless of how much he likes Ora's droids and business. It will be easy to say 'yes' without thinking too much, or so is usually the case.

He prompted her to make herself at home, but Ora felt too out of place in the luxurious vehicle to indulge in any of the available amenities.

When they got down to business, Newton mentioned an investment, and Ora's eyes visibly widened. "Holy shit, holy shit!" Of course, an investment meant she'd have to deliver, but the Nautolan wasn't worried. She was ambitious, but not so ambitious as to not approach the offer with a degree of risk aversion.

"I would be very much open to the idea, so I'm curious to hear what all that would entail. I have short-term and long-term plans to expand operations already, but even with funding it will take me a reasonable amount of time to acquire assets and the such." Truth be told, she was worried about what having too big of an investment in her company would do, but it was such a ripe opportunity that she couldn't deny it!

"When would the certain point be?" Though her business experience was little, Ora knew it was important to get everything they talked about now down in writing before she agreed to or signed anything. For now though, she would ask questions. She could feel the excitement buzzing in her skin!

It was commendable that Ora was asking questions instead of blindly agreeing to everything. This one has potential indeed. Anyways, it would be understandable that she has time to acquire assets to get into gear. "Those details, as well as how much I am investing would depend on varying factors." he said "Do you have data about your buisness. Sales numbers, current scope of your operations and .etc" he asked. As far as he understands, Ora's business operates a small level although gaining customers fast. More specific data would put a clear picture on things.

Okay, so it was really business-talk time. The Nautolan was equal parts excited and cautious; as much as she was starstruck by Newton, she wasn't blindsided by him. Having him as an investor would be monumental, but she didn't want to lose control of her company. She had plans - big plans - and they'd be stunted if she was forced to cater too much to Blackwell.

"Right! So, at the moment- " Ora began talking about sales numbers, her operations, and other data off the top of her head, giving rough estimates for each one. She produced droids in small batches or by commission since her facilities were a warehouse, but she was able to sell them at a higher price thanks to multiple reasons. One reason was that people loved animal-like droids and thus they were willing to pay more for them. The second was the quality of the product and the programming. She'd spent hours upon hours perfecting the programming for her OW1-series, and adding on to the price for her time was completely justifiable.

"My next step would be to acquire ownership of a small factory I can use to produce en-mass the more popular series of droids. For example, I have a prototype droid in the works that resembles a spider, and unlike the owl droids, they don't vary much from model to model."

"I see" Newton said and nod his head. Looks like she's thought that far ahead. "If you are getting a small factory, you'll probably need some staff and some more, better up-to-date equipment as well." that was something consider. The staff could be more droids or they could be sentients, unless she planned on making droids enmasse on hand anyway. Then next "Where do you get your material and parts used in the construction of your droids from?" he asked. "That will be a factor to account for...."

Another thought appeared in Newton's head. "What do you have to for advertising?" he asked. "You'll probably need funding for advertisement and create marketing campaign as well" Advertising/Marketing is a very important factor as well. One could make all the droids in the world, but without strong marketing or advertising then they won't sell. "The whole galaxy should know about your droids" he smiled and chuckled.

With that, Newton would then reach towards one of the droids for a drink, to which the droid would give him one. The droid would look at Newton's guest as to ask if she wants something as well.

"Staff could be... nice," Ora mused in response. She would much prefer the company of droids as staff. It just seemed a bit easier than having to oversee personnel. It wasn't that she didn't like people; droids were just cheaper, and she could program them rather than teach them. Ya know? "But, oh! Advertising! I've paid for some radio commercials here and there, but I've mostly gotten through by word of mouth," she answered.

"If I could get access to a factory to produce some of the droids, I think that alone would be a really great start," she reiterated. "Since I make them all by hand now, being able to switch one to two of the models to an assembly line would allow me more time to work on more prototypes."
