The Golden Age
From all over the Hutt Cartel had they come, loyal subjects, violent plotters, or those with treason in their hearts. It mattered not, for appearance was everything, and even in the world of Crime, one had to appear as though one was loyal. With the sudden vanishing of the former Grandee Lorda, and the rapid ascension of a the 'Council Backed' Supreme Mogul, this was now more important than ever.

A vast statue had been erected in the forecourt of the Hutts Central Palace, depicting an ancient Hutt lording over its subjects with benevolence, whilst weaker species bowed and scraped before it. Some said it was arrogance, others dared not to even whisper such things. As guests piled into the forecourt of the Palace, their weapons being stripped from them by overly invasive Guards, a vast feasting table was opened up before them - the bounty of the Supreme One lain out for all his subjects to see.

In commemoration of his new ascension, the Supreme Mogul had decreed a day of Celebration, and like it or not, Celebration there would be. Watching the proceedings from deep within the Palace, surrounded by his Lordas, and stationed deep behind layer after layer of security, the room itself filled with Guards, the Supreme Mogul saw as one of the guests had their hands removed, after they refused to surrender their gun.

His smiled, pleased that his Guards did their job well, watching once more as guests trying to enter the Palace where turned away - kept out in the forecourt to mingle and speak with their associates. Soon he would make an address, but suspense had to be built first.

Let them wait, drink, get spiced and feast, he thought, as he saw more of the cartels infamous and most cruel approaching....

OOC: This is OPEN to Cartel Members. I will not be saying it is non-violent, but I will be urging people to remember that this is in the forecourt of the Grand Palace of the Hutts, and there are literally thousands of Guards around. The Supreme Mogul will make a speech in a bit, after people have posted - so try not to kill each other :P

Davik was dressed in formal attire and had left his slaves on Nar Shaddaa, fearing that if a powerful Hutt laid eyes on them they'd be gone the next day leaving nothing behind for Davik but the echoes of a sinister laughing Hutt. For protection he had brought a Gamorrean friend of his that worked security at the Calrissian and for some reason having a large green monster watching your back in his usual overt an conspicious manner made carrying a blaster a mere formality. As such, Davik, upon reaching the heavily guarded palace of the Supreme Mogul had no weapons to declare and could pass the security details with ease and swiftness and soon stood eye-in-eye with a bronze human male cowering before the much larger bronze Hutt. Davik frowned, after such a long absence from the underworld it seemedthe supremacy of the Hutt Council was once again being established.

nodding knowinly at the bronze man, Davik continued his stroll through the forecourt and greeted, both jovially and with cold business-like handshakes, his fellow members of the cartel.

Sonny arrived to the forecourt of the Cartel Palace on Nal Hutta, dressed in an expensive, classically tailored dark gray suit, sleeves rolled up slightly, complete with an open collared bright yellow shirt, a pair of sunglasses tucked into the neck. He had rarely had occasion to go to the Glorious Jewel before in his many criminal exploits within the Cartel, though this would be his second visit in less than two weeks. Eight days earlier, he had visited the planet to negotiate a deal with the Vesajilics in regard to import of food supplies to Trigalis. The deal had gone well, and was now set in stone, with more than a little help from his friend Nor'baal.

His second visit had begun two days earlier with a not as violent as it could have turned out coup d'etat aimed against the Grandee Lorda. The coup had seen him replaced with a Supreme Mogul, backed by the Hutt Council, and thus, above any questioning. That coup had culminated in tonight's reception, where every Cartel thug and their aunt were invited, at least as far as to the forecourt of the Palace, where they were now being searched quite thoroughly, and disarmed. Even the lowest of thugs, who usually wore nothing but torn jeans and blood stained shirts, had dressed according to the occasion, and as a result, the forecourt was now filled with a multitude of suit and dress wearing, shady looking characters.

Life was good for Sonny Mills these days. The business ventures on Trigalis were going well - on the day Auric Biotech had gone public, virtually all stock options available had been sold, making himself and the company millions of dollars. The toxin had been successfully synthesized, and already a prototype delivery system for weaponizing the toxin was being tested and shown to potential buyers. Good news that only further lined the businessman's pockets. And with the coup d'etat that had taken place within the Cartel, more opportunities to grow his profits seemed to lay in the near future for Sonny.

At the entrance, just as Sonny arrived, a man got his hand cut off by one of the Gamorreans with their war axes, for refusing to disarm. He was howling in pain while clutching his bleeding stump of a hand. Stupid, Sonny thought, as he stepped past the man with light feet up the stairs. When the guards approached to search him, he held out the sides of his suit jacket, showing that he did not carry a gun. Even so he let one of them search him. After having been searched, he was waved past, and continued up the stairs and into the forecourt, where he came face to face with a gigantic bronze statue of a Hutt, staring out not just over the forecourt, but over the grounds surrounding the Palace.

A smaller, human like protocol droid of the same colour approached him with a tray filled with champagne glasses. Sonny took one, and sipped it as he walked past the droid, farther in, to mingle with others. He wondered if his old friend and now business partner Nor'baal would be there, but at first sight did not see the Hutt. His eyes, however, fell on a Cartel member he had heard a lot about, but never had the actual pleasure of meeting himself; Davik Lorso, also known as the Spice King of Kessel. Lorso had made a name for himself in the Cartel among other ways by spearheading the retaking of the Kessel mining facility, and subsequently, taking charge of its spice production, generating a fortune for the Cartel, and, of course, himself.

Sonny decided to approach the man.
"Mr Lorso." He said, extending his hand. "A pleasure to meet you. Sonny Mills." He placed his empty champagne glass on a tray carried by a passing by protocol droid.

Sonny Mills, Davik thought, hmm yes, master Nor'baals friend. Happy to meet someone with whom he shared a mutual acquintence, Davik shook Sonny's hand. "Last time I saw you, you were dragging a Rodian corpse into the Calrissian." he grinned, referring the last time the Commission gathered on Nar Shaddaa. His Gamorrean bodyguard had been present at that same meeting in a similar capacity and snorted obtrusively as he, too, remembered the look on the dead Rodian's face. Davik shot him a sideway glance before he turned back to Sonny "I'm sorry, the problem with these creatures is their infinite stupidity. They're well suited as muscle" and the Gamorrean did indeed tower above most of the gathered guests, "but no manners." Davik smiled.

It had been a long time since Mulako had returned to the crown jewel of the cartel, almost too long as he thought as he slowly scuttled across the hard floor towards the event. It was hard finding the only tailor in the entire damn galaxy that would tailor a suit to a Yam'rii but eventually Mulako did find the man and was more or less formally dressed for the occasion. He was stopped and like the other cartel members, entertainers, or just regular guests that wanted to attend the party was searched by the surprisingly well dressed guards. Of corse they found nothing as Mulako lacked hands for holding a weapon, preferring to rely on his claws when the need for bloodshed arose and seeing how the guards couldn't just cut them off, Mulako was allowed to enter.

Inside the building the party was in full swing and left and right people where getting boozed, spiced, and cramming free food into their mouths; all compliments of the new leader of the Hutt cartel. Mulako would fit in quite nicely here. He grabbed a glass of champaign and clutched it in his claw as he sipped from the crystal glass. The taste of the burning liquid was smooth and fruity as it washed down his chitinous esophagus. Mulako continued to mingle with the crowd as loud music and debauchery drowned out the conversations around him.

The palace of Karatha the Hutt was buzzing with activity as the first waves of His Excellency's guests arrived on Nal Hutta. From what limited Huttese she understood, and having only just arrived as a gift to the Hutt Lord, Synoda came to understand that her new owner had recently been elected Supreme Lorda of the Hutt Cartel, a lofty title. Very similar to the tribal elections of the chiefs on Shili, the position seemed to have gone to the one with the most wealth and the largest backing of warriors, although they measured such things a little differently here on Nal Hutta.

At any rate, she wasn't concerned with trying to figure out Hutt politics at the moment. The Togrutan had joined other dancing girls at the center of the court, as the crowd watched, conversed among themselves, or became inebriated on the powerful drinks being served. Synoda took large, slow steps, kicking out her bare red legs and moving in a circular motion around the court. Her bulky shoulders bobbed up and down to the beat of the music pouring from the hired band, and her pudgy hands weaved a pattern in the air. The black veil costume she wore slid away slightly as she turned, revealing a fleshy thigh muscle or an ample belly. She looked for any sign of His Majesty, and there he was, hidden in the back, surrounded by guards and engaged in conversation with his closest advisors. She hoped to direct her performance towards him, to show her appreciation with joyous high kicks and head-tails whirling, then turned her attention to the guests, nodding at some and smiling as she passed by them.

Hopefully, once this dance concluded, she could find some gocola and join in the fun.

While the central palace bustled with activity, IG-2000 made his rounds. Having been working for the Hutt Cartel for some time now, he was hired as part of the security arrangement for this celebration. The assassin droid stood still near one of the back walls, in a dark, mostly empty area. His red sensors scanned the surrounding crowds, on the watch for anything suspicious. So far there was nothing but drunkness and depravity among the party goers, who seemed to be enjoying the entertainment and the liquor, but the assassin droid remained constantly vigilant. He is, after all, programmed that way.

His programming would also cause him to question the the Supreme Mogul's decision to open his private residence with even the lowliest thugs in the Cartel, but upon arriving here, the droid witnessed why he was so confident. Security seems to be pretty tight, and the likelihood of some major problem getting out of control here was only 14.8%, according to his calculations. IG-2000 stood back and continued his silent observation.

Sevrina moved gracefully around the crowd, eyeing each and every individual carefully. It had only been a few weeks now since she had been hired by the Hutt Cartel, so when they requested her to stand in as security at the Cartel Palace, she had been surprised. Either the Cartel was pulling out every possible body they had for security, or they had specifically requested her being there. She liked to think it was the latter. No matter the reason, though, she was almost excited to be part of such an important celebration.

It had been a long time since Sevrina had stood at a celebration where there were so many brushing shoulders, but obviously looking for a way to gain a higher step up. There were people of every rank and race in the crowds before her, all of them dressed to the nines in honour of the Supreme One. Some of them even looked uncomfortable in their tailored suits and extravagant gowns. Sevrina thanked the stars that she was only there as a guard. Her days of living among the upper class and having to put up appearances in front of all were down. Casually, she placed her hands on the holsters buckled around her thighs, and continued watching everyone who came to celebrate the election of the Supreme Lorda.

Slowly he could see the vast Palace Gardens filling with the loyal throng of Carteliers that he had summoned to this venue. Within their number there would not doubt be spies, reporting to the various groups across the Galaxy all that transpired here today, some would flock back to the Empire, others would hide in small alcoves to squeak nonsense into a transmitter, informing their paymasters of all that happened. Just what I desire, the Supreme Mogul thought to himself. Ever since he had taken power the Supreme One had relied on the internal rivalries of his Kin to keep him on his toes, and by extension to ensure that the Cartel remains ever alert to treachery and attack from both within and without, and ever since he had taken office - now some months past - the Supreme One had remained an elusive figure, surrounding himself with aides and advisers that did his bidding, albeit with their own twists and Political Ambitions served within the execution of their duties.

This Cadre of Advisers would be grown yet further today, going far beyond the Cartel 'Champions' who possessed actual power, far beyond the 'Con Lorda' to whom he muttered his plots and plans - for today the Supreme One would spread the net yet further, keeping his eyes open as he always did for new talent within his Cartel. One such man approached now, his face concealed behind a hood, part of a morose black garb that he had deigned to wear to today's formal event. Gallanto Korad was the mans name, and he was one of the Supreme Moguls many spies, tasked with going out into the Galaxy and reporting back on what he saw. Stopping just short of the Supreme Moguls Guards, he bowed, before being allowed past, handing the Hutt his speech, and walking with him to the balcony which overlooked the assembled party-goers.

Filing out in an orderly fashion, the Guards - armed with the usual arrangement of Shock Batons, Personal Energy Shields that could be interlocked to defend their Master, and simple side arm pistols, and encased in thick Mandalorian-esque armor, the Supreme Moguls Retinue followed next. Within their ranks, the champions, Con Lordas and the like would be seen, whilst on the Balcony just below them, the Lordas of the Cartel - 5 Hutt Family Leaders - could also be seen, waving to the crowd below.

Finally, a loud horn sounded, silencing the throng below, and the Supreme Mogul himself came on the Balcony, raising his hands in supplication of the crowd before him, watching with glee as the masses looked up at him, as he their Master looked down. <Welcome to Hutta!> he cried, his naturally loud Hutt voice aided by speakers around the Gardens, allowing him to project over the crowd <Loyal Subjects, Faithful Enforcers and Merciless Scions of Hutta, I welcome you to this the first great feast of the Cartel, celebrating the forthcoming Golden Age of our people!> continued to the Hutt, much to the ire of his Lorda Cousins below - shocked that the Supreme One was focusing his speech on the Non-Hutt Members of the Cartel, his 'Loyal Subjects' and that the Mogul had forgone mention of the Lordas, whom with each passing day, saw less and less of the Mogul they had placed into power.

<The Sith, the Rebellion, the Bogan, the Confederacy. All these are names we hear from within our Palace, names that reverberate around mighty Hutta! But, they are just names, they have no legacy, no history, no unity. Together, we the people of the Hutt Cartel are strong, and we must project that strength around in the Galaxy, furthering the dreams of Vero, Addippos, and even Hutts such as the ancient and mighty Korraga himself! Hutta must expand, both criminally and geographically, and it is you who will lead the charge!> stated the Hutt, his hands gesticulating more wildely as his talk went on.

It was clear to those who observed the Hutts political scene, that the new Supreme Mogul desired a policy of Neutrality in the Galaxy, and yet still did little to prevent his subservient Lordas from interfering, or taking sides, in the widespread conflict. It was a risky, but rewarding tactic, allowing the Cartel to remain officially neutral, and blame any Hutt involvement in the war on 'rogue elements' in a nation that was run by criminals, and there was no denying that the Hutt Leader had grown wealthy and powerful off the top of such plans. However this new proclamation was unforeseen, for the Supreme Mogul appeared to be handing down the opportunity to 'interfere'in Galactic affairs to the lower down members of the Cartel, further expanding what was already a risky policy.

<Let it be known that Hutta is open for business once more, so go forth into this Galaxy, safe in the support of your Cartel, and make the deals you have wanted to make for decades, strike out where you wish to, and pay your dues to your masters. Expand, Exploit, and Profit!> he concluded to the increasing roar of his subjects. Waiting for the applause to die down, the Hutt ventured back inside the Palace, sending a slave to retrieve a Mr Davik Lorso (@Ecclessey) to meet him in his private Quarters, for Mr Lorso did not know it, but like many gathered here today, the Supreme Mogul had a task for him to complete.

Davik had been focused on Petar Anjiliac, whom he served, instead of the Supreme Mogul's speech and noticed the slight irritation in the Hutts interaction with his fellows. The cartel, it seemed, would never be truly united at the higher tiers. When the crowd started cheering he politely joined in with a "Heuh Profit!" and went over to the bar for another drink. The male Twi'lek slave that approached him looked beaten and he moved as if his entire body was hurting. "Mr Davik Lorso?" he asked and Davik was of a mind to deny it outright until the slave followed up his question with "I come from the Supreme Mogul himself" which made him confirm his identity with a short nod as he followed the slave through the mass.

Now having returned to the vast recliner which served as the throne to the Supreme Mogul of the Hutts, Karatha cast his lazy eyes over the room in which he was lounging. Two long lines, one on either side of the room, of Guards stood, ram-rod straight, their faces concealed behind fearsome red masks, with a small collection of armored warriors standing at the foot of his throne, facing outwards. Death Gangs, the Hutt thought, pleased with the input of his men - all rigged up to some form of internal cybernetic adrenal injector, making them all the more fearsome in combat.

Watching as Davik Lorso (@Ecclessey) approached, the Supreme Mogul allowed his Droid to pottel forwards, and declare him. ''Praise and Glory be upon the Most Excellent and Feared Master of Hutta, Lord of all he surveys, wealthy and majestic despot of Hutta Supreme Mogul Karatha Besadii Vorug, rightful ruler of Hutta and all within his gaze!'' proclaimed the droid, stoking the Hutts arrogance yet further.

Speaking only in basic, the vast Hutt rumbled out his words <Kneel.> with great finality, as the masked faces of the hundreds of Guards looked on impassively. <Witness the power of Hutta, and know your place within it.> he decreed, his voice rolling across the room. <You are adviser to Petar Anjiliac yes? Tell me, why has he cheated me?> snarled the Hutt Supreme Mogul, referencing the reduced payments that had been coming out of the Anjiliacs criminal Empire. In total, the reduction accounted for less that ten-billion credits, pocket change for the Supreme One, but the slight was there non-the-less, and the greed of the Supreme Mogul was easy to witness as the Hutts eyes narrowed, awaiting a reply.

Davik knelt even before the Supreme Mogul had finished his order in Galactic Basic. There was not a fiber in his being that would try anything here, not while he was surrounded by the death gang. His life was him way too valuable, so even though he despised displays of power like that as they so effectively taunted the Empire to do with Hutt Space what they had once done to Mandalore, Davik was submissive in all things. That didn't mean the accusation towards Lorda Petar didn't cause a drop of sweat to roll down his temple instantly. Only recently been promoted to the job and only advising the Hutt in matters to ensure a bigger profit from the spice side of his dealings, Davik could not wrap his brain around the idea of him witnessing or being accomplice to cheating the cartel.

"I advise Lorda Petar Anjiliac on matters of spice, most excellent despot." he replied in Huttese and cursed himself for thinking a position inside a Hutt palace would mean he'd be able to live care free among criminals. "I offer my sincere apologies, Supreme Mogul, I was not aware the Anjiliacs have cheated you out of your due. I shall rectify that immediately." he bowed his head and looked at the floor as a sign of absolute submission. His life was forfeit if he somehow incurred the wrath of this particular Hutt. Perhaps he'd chance it if he was far away and had a stronghold of his own, but for now all he dared was to kneel and comply to the Hutt's every demand.
