Felix had put some considerable research into this star compass, trying to figure out where it lead, he turned up pretty empty-handed, only thing he discovered was that it led to the unknown regions and given the nature of the unknown regions, he brought his discovery to the council, seeking permission to follow the compass. agreed but asked a taken another with me, a reasonable thing given the nature of going into unknown regions.

Felix was sat in the pilot seat of his u-wing going through the final checks before he and his companion made their great leap into the unknown, the ship was rough and tumble thing he was using, it was originally a BT-45D civilian model but through parts of old scraped military models, he had managed to bring it back to its military configuration with a few modifications to Felix's own tastes of course.

they sat on the edge of the known galaxy, the Batuu system staring off into deep space as they made their final checks, the star compass placed on top of the dashboard of his controls, "so what made you volunteer for this Ferrin?" this was first time meeting, so he would like to get to know his fellow knight a bit.

Upon hearing of the opportunity with the Star Compass, Ferrin was absolutely ecstatic. Not only was it an excuse to escape from Brighthome and its tedious Academy classes, but the Padawan was genuinely curious where the trail would take them. It went without saying that any Jedi Star Compass would point to a world of significance - and now more than ever, the Order could benefit from any ancient knowledge or resources that had been stashed in the Unknown Regions.

Upon hearing that Felix was leading the expedition, Ferrin made a point to be a bit more prepared than usual. While the Pantoran was notably laid back, working with one of the more accomplished Knights in the Order was reason enough for him to take this all more seriously. He was dressed in his standard Jedi tunic, with a backpack and saber hilt clipped to his belt. His lilac hair was styled messily, trimmed short on the sides.

He lounged back in the co-pilot’s chair with one ankle crossed over his knee, his foot tapping idly against the floorboard. The Pantoran glanced over to Felix when the Knight spoke, breaking from whatever he’d been spacing off about in his own mind. “Mysterious Star Compass, exploration into the Unknown Regions? Who wouldn’t volunteer for that?” He grinned. “Besides - trackin’ this thing down certainly beats Brighthome cafeteria food.”

“Where’d you even find it, anyway?”
He sort of assumed it wasn't just sitting in the Grandmaster's nightstand for the past century, the words spoken as his gaze flicked over to the Star Compass in question. It looked simultaneously old and somehow had survived the ages - a relic of a bygone age. He squinted a bit, staring at every groove and bezel. “An' how does it work?”

Felix could certainly see the appeal when Ferrin put it like that, when he was aged he probably would have done the same, he chuckled at the mention of the cafeteria food. "I wouldn't be too sure about the food, field ration aren't great either."

His eyes flicked to the compass at the mention of it, "I found it with knight Zathria on Typhon, she was investigating the ruins to find a cache when I happened to be there too, long story short, we explored, found a full cache of jedi relic and the compass was among them." it was basics, they did fight an ancient droid guarding the cache that wasn't really too important.

"As far as how it works? why don't you try it yourself?" picking up the compass from his dash, he opened it up and placed it in Ferrin's palm, "Now match the holes in the lid to the star in front of us, then close you and focus on the lodestone in the centre, you should feel the specific points in hyperspace we have to reach." he would watch the padawan with a soft smile, Felix always preferred being shown rather than told when he was padawan and he felt Ferrin did too.

Ferrin squinted a bit, considering what Felix was saying. Even if field rations and MRE’s weren’t exactly gourmet eats, the Pantoran wasn’t sure anything could be worse than some of the stuff they served out of Brighthome’s cafeteria. He knew the Order was poor, but it definitely showed in their food budget and subsequent cases of food poisoning amongst the Padawans.

“Jedi relics?” The Pantoran lit up a bit, glancing at Felix. “What else did you find?” It was clearly a topic that interested him - owing to his love of the ancient histories and past of the Jedi. From his days as a youngling, Ferrin had taken an interest in the glory days of the Jedi Order - when they weren’t having to fight for their survival against the Sith, and weren’t being ostracized by the rest of the Galaxy.

Ferrin picked up a nearby bottle of iced tea, taking a few swigs from it. Which he proceeded to almost choke on when Felix randomly handed him the Star Compass. The Pantoran had been eyeballing the device and dying to get his hands on it since arrival, but didn’t actually expect the Knight was going to give him hands-on teaching with the artifact.

“Uh..” He blinked a few times, staring at it. Nodding a bit, Ferrin lifted the star compass as instructed - lining the glint of stars up until they lined up with the little holes in the head of the compass. He finally did, staring for a moment before glancing over to Felix.

“Dude I ain't sure I know what I’m doin’ here..” He said with a nervous grin.

Taking in a breath, Ferrin exhaled through his nostrils and closed his eyes - channeling the Force through his body. He could feel the hum of energy all around him - hear the faint song of Life and death that connected both himself and Felix as one. And he could feel the threads that linked him to the lodestone, and the information that had been imparted into the gem. He focused his energies there - reaching out to divine the direction it pointed him.

Moments passed, and Ferrin finally began to see through the Force. It was less of a vision, and more of an intuition of where to go - as if the Padawan knew, somehow, precisely the direction he needed to travel. Without opening his eyes, Ferrin allowed his fingers to trace over to the ship’s hyperspace console - slowly but surely inputting the coordinates that would bring them to their destination.

"Trust in yourself, trust in the force" Felix would reply to Ferrin's falter in confidence, sometimes people just need a bit of push. as Ferrinstarted typing in the hyperspace coordinate Felix felt a slight pang of pride.

"Alright, let's punch it" he pushed forward hyperdrive controls, accelerating into hyperspace, the blue glow of the dimension saturation the cockpit "To be honest I don't know how long it will take for us to get there, perhaps get to know each other better" know each other strengths could be crucial to their success or at very least he could use this adventure to help teach the padawan. "Feel free to ask me anything" he would say this checking ship readings to make sure the flight would be smooth.

After a few moments, Ferrin finally opened his eyes - glancing down at the Hyperspace coordinates that were inputted into the Nav-computer. The Pantoran stared at ti suspiciouslyt - his golden gaze flicking between the computer and Felix. Despite the very encouraging suggestion to ‘Trust in the Force’, he was entirely convinced they were about to jump directly into a star.

“If you say so,” He said, watching as their shuttle began to glide through Hyperspace.

Settling back into his seat, Ferrin glanced over to Felix - listening as the Knight spoke. He considered the words, nodding along ever-so-slightly. The Pantoran wasn’t the type of person to open up to just about anyone, but there was little else to do during the journey but talk.

“Alright,” He seat up a bit, glancing over to Felix. “How long have you been with the Jedi?” Ferrin asked. His own induction into the Order hadn’t been under the best of circumstances, but whether Felix could relate or not wasn’t clear. “What made you want to join to begin with?”

A not-so-simple set of questions for Felix but candidness was, his history with the jedi was somewhat unique or at least it was these days, not too many are raised by the order from before they could even walk. he turned his chair to face Ferrin

"I didn't really join the jedi, I was raised by order, it's the only life I've... ever known, I would be lying if I didn't say I was jealous of the others, of those that choose to join the order, you could say the order is a big family but I think you know what i mean when i say it isn't quite same,"

He didn't know what Ferrin's past or history was but Felix had nothing to hide he wasn't ashamed of his lack of past or history. that stuff didn't matter really, not in the long runaway but that was something he had learned that took a while too.

"what about you? how did you fall in with the order? if you don't mind me asking." he knew not everyone was open as he had learned to be but hopefully, padawan felt comfortable enough to tell him.
