THEME

This was the second time in as many weeks that Kai found himself at a strip club. This was not for pleasure or to allow his men to blow off some steam. Chances were that it could still be fun. The Grysk sold spice and had a business of his own to run. From word of mouth and reputation he knew that the computer repair shop and strip club was a good place to see for potential.

The rain had just started when the compliment of three gangsters entered Nightfall. There was Bruggan, the Kaleesh who's jacket had either shrunk in the past year or he was bulking up. The other two were a Lepi by the name of Jax. Wiry and what you would expect more or less from a rabbit-person. A smile was on his face at seeing the beautiful bodies in eyesight. Lastly there was the leader of the trio. A Grysk who wondered where the owner of the establishment. He was wearing simple clothes that consisted of a jacket along with a bag for any items he didnot want to carry in hand or could not fit in his pockets.

Kai walked to the left after entering, heading towards the bar. "Cognac, Actually make that just a beer." He ordered and so did his company. "Is the boss in?" He asked the server and promptly took a deep gulp of the libation.

Tonight Alais wore another black and purple dress. Darker colors felt more comfortable on her lately, not that she'd stick to the theme forever. She was out on the floor, though for a limited time only. It was good for her to check up on things, but usually if she stayed long she got carried away. First a drink, then another and then drugs. But she wanted to have some focus tonight.

Having spoke with a regular she was about to sit down with him when one of her servers came up. "There's a man asking for you," the server said, which prompted a small frown from Alais. Sometimes people looking for you was a bad thing on Nar Shaddaa and her line of work. Not that she didn't have a plethora of cameras, escape routes and now some muscle, but she was still the paranoid type.

Sighing, she tried to put on a soft smile at least before folllowing the sever to the man. "You're looking for the owner?" she said simply, not exactly admitting she was the owner but not denying it either. "For what reason?"

At first nobody said anything. Kai wondered if they had not heard him but the server had made eye contact with him. Maybe she did not like the Grysk or his entourage. He wondered if the server he asked was actually the owner. But soon enough a young petite blond girl with a fancy dress asked him more questions but she spoke in basic. Her looks definitely did not say 'I'm from Hutt space and speak Huttese' so it made sense.

"Business opportunities mostly. Discounts, investments, that sort of thing." He believed Alais to be some odd girl that was here. There was a chance she was also not the boss. His boys continued to drink and just watch the entertainment until given the direction to do otherwise. But Kai did not want to give too much in the way of details since he was only looking to speak with Alais.

"I'm Malakai Beck by the way." He introduced himself as an after thought. It was not meant to be for any sort of manners like most people did. But as he thought about it he did not have much in the way of a reputation. Yet Sipping his bear he pulled out a tin of hand rolled cigaras. They were laced with cigaras but there was even more in the ways of substances inside his backpack. If it turned out that the owner was not present then they could always have fun and leave a number. "Smoking's allowed in here right?" The cover Legionnaire was going through the motions of beginning to light the cigara regardless since he could gather that it was.

"Well Malakai Beck, I'm always interested in business opportunities," she said, admitting to being the owner/boss. At the mention of business and no stabbing-ness, her fake smile turned into a real one. That didn't mean it grew, it just became easier to hold.

She waved down a waitress and pulled off a fresh drink and put it by him. If he didn't take it, she wouldn't mind. It was only a gesture. "But I won't do business here. Come with me and leave any men you have here. I wont be bringing anyone with me either." She was telling the truth. Even though it was sketch to bring someone alone into her office, they both were taking a risk. If he wasn't willing to take a risk, that said something about him.

Assuming he followed her, she'd lead him to behind the desk in the computer repair section. She typed in the code of the day then let the panel scan her hand. With that the door opened, and when she entered the hallway the datapad on her belt shook. It was connected to her security system to let her know when people entered certain areas, so it'd shake when the other man entered the hallway too.

Down at the end of the hallway, she turned left into her office. She spared the man having to walk through her spare parts room, though he'd be able to see it at a glance. In the spare parts room (where her bed was too) computer parts hung off the ceiling and wall. Parts hung off parts hung off parts. There was not an inch of the floor to see through all the parts, though there was order to the chaos. Anything that could be stepped on couldn't be easily broken. It'd take a lot of weight and a lot of repetitive smashing to destroy them. The delicate items were off the ground.

She entered her office and sat at her chair, signaling the man to sit in the other chair. Opening a drawer, she pulled out some whisky and filled up two cups. She pushed one of the cups his way, then took a sip of her own. Alais didn't mind drinking while doing business, because her body could handle a lot of it before she felt anything. Because she discovered she was a Force user and what the Force was, she now knew why her body was so tolerant.

"So exactly what were you thinking?" she asked plainly. There wasn't much more she could say, since he'd revealed very little so far.

Kai's eyebrow cocked at hearing Alai's admission to her identity. His eyes watched her pluck a beverage and essentially gift it to him. His expression showing some skepticism and curiosity to an almost wary extent. "Thanks." He took the glass in one of his skeletal like hand before sniffing the drink to try and discern what it was.

Alais turned to head back to her office and gave her request. Kai had no problem with it. His head turned to them so they knew he was fine with it. "Only a beer and a chaser till I get back." They all gave their confirmation and stayed where they were. The Grysk followed the petite business owner towards her office with his gifted libation in hand. It smelled fruity and with a following sip he let out a mildly surprised murmur and took a longer sip of it before they arrived.

The extensive security was not lost on him. While the establishment did not have blaster turrets or armored guards at every corner a strong door and a decent lock was sometimes enough to dissuade people from trying anything stupid. Especially if she has connections. Kai thought to himself. But the Grysk was not worried. Instead he was actually somewhat pleased that not everbody on Nar Shaddaa was basic. Kai was not looking to do business with someone that was an easy mark for any criminal with a half-baked plan.

The rest of the building seemed pretty standard. The computer repair section with numerous parts was there, the woman's office looked nice, a long hallway that probably could be made into a cool fight scene, it was silently observed by the covert Legionnaire until he took a seat across from Alais.

Seeing she pulled out more alcohol he glanced at his glass that he was working on and guzzled it down without a second thought. Shortly thereafter he gladly accepted the offered whiskey. "Thanks. Tastes good." While normally Kai would be happy to have a party he knew that he could not be blitzed in the first meeting with a potential future associate. His mind focused more inward, trying to defuse the intoxicating substance that was in his system. It would take some time but it did not stop him from also tasting the whiskey. The act also doubled to make some people believe he was inebriated or easily manipulated in a drunk state. Kai was fine letting people think that. It told him who was interested in taking advantage of him.

"I think its an open secret that your employees partake and otherwise deal in spice from time to time. Its nothing you have your hands in but still allow. Is that right?"

Alais took a sip of her own drink, still remaining quiet even if the man complimented her drink. In a way everything she was doing was testing the man's character since he hadn't brought up the five syndicates yet. Under this name—Alais—it was usually those types that came to her. Anyone outside of that was double the risk.

Finally he got to where he was meant to be the whole time. Spice. Interesting that a seemingly outsider was the first to approach her about it. Well, first looking to do business. She had to fight off some small spice running gangs to keep them from trying to take advantage of her and her establishment.

Finally she answered after a moments thought, "Spice runs through here like many places on Nar Shaddaa." Her fingers drummed against her glass. "Girls give me some of their cut if they run it through here often, though. And it's something I've considered dealing with, though my time is currently tied up elsewhere."

It may not be the best of moves to admit to possibly infringing in this man's obvious business, however she decided to be straight with it now. Again, it had to do with him being an outsider to "Alais" so it was possibly the better approach, at least in her mind.

His eyes squinted slightly, scrutinizing her as she said she was busy. Kai was not sure if she meant she had a full schedule and so far had not persued spice as a means of profit. Alais could have meant she was not interested in the possibility of selling spice.

"You're right. I noticed the flow of spice. It's not much different than dozens of other places. It's a waste to not capitalize on it and that's what I think you've been doing." It was a borderline insult, critiquing the petite woman on her business. Clearing his throat he throat the spice dealer continued. "If you allow free enterprise in your establishment then your employees are gonna take advantage. Wouldn't surprise me if some of them are earning more from their side deals than they want you to believe."

What the legionnaire referenced tended to happen often enough in the underworld. It happened everywhere in fact. Minions skimming off the books of their employers or keeping the lion's share for themselves. Not doing anything about it tended to make a person look soft and Kai had a feeling that Alais liked to look pretty ...but not weak. Kai took a long sip of his beverage curious to see how the club owner reacted to what he said so far.
