It was clear that Jaikus was deep within his own thoughts - citrine eyes focused out of the transparisteel window of the shuttle. He stood with both hands folded against the small of his back, watching as the ship carved a path through the fluffy clouds and approached the ground. He took a moment to scan across the open horizon, taking in the sights of the world for the first time.

New Mandalore.

It was the first time that Jaikus had laid eyes on the Outer Rim planet, and the Axxilan had a clear purpose for being here, joining Ashla in making the journey out. An alliance had been struck with the recent Mandalorians, and the Togruta Acolyte had been given the dirty work of covertly eliminating the elected leader of New Mandalore - clearing the way for Fenyang to take the planet under his leadership. It would be their job to see it done.

Of course, the pair of Sith had their own reasons for being on the planet - known only to them and that went far beyond the assignment given by the Mand’alor. While the alliance between their two factions was convenient today, no one was foolish enough to believe that it would last.

Jaikus had no doubt that the Mandalorians, once they were strong enough, would turn their conquests against the Sith. It was for precisely that reason it was important to maintain some leverage over them - something to keep them in check, should they ever feel the inclination to step out of line. It was precisely the type of covert, intelligence work that Jaikus specialized in.

New Mandalore was the birthplace of their newly elected leader, and remained the place where the man’s family resided. If they could be located and placed under surveillance, they could be exploited against the man later down the line.

On both fronts, The nature of their mission was secretive, and it meant that Jaikus had abandoned his usual Sith armor for civilian clothes - meant to blend in with the general populace. He wore a
pair of tight-fitting jeans and a white t-shirt, a black jacket pulled over the top. His outfit was accessorized with a simple chrono on his wrist, while his lightsaber was tucked within a hidden compartment on the inside of his jacket lined with scatterweave, in order to avoid detection from any rudimentary scanners.

He watched as their shuttle gradually began to work its way into the busy spaceport of New Mandalore’s capital - touching down with a faint thud. While the vessel had been provided by Imperial Intelligence, the liscensing and codes provided had been expertly forged - clearing them for entry and hopefully avoiding any unnecessary attention.

Jaikus finally broke his eyes away from the window, turning back to face Ashla. He reached down, grabbing his bag of supplies before glancing up to the Togruta. “Ready?”

It had been a while since Ashla had done something like this, off late she had been getting involved in situations that were more in your face and out in the open. That didn't mean that she had forgotten anything, the Cadre had drilled it so deep into her being that it was a simple matter of galling back into old habits, albeit habits she wasn't particularly fond of.

"Yeah," she replied to Jaikus' question, dressed in a nondescript manner like him, "let's get this over with." She was wearing a headless and prosthetics that would make her look like a Nautolan, and had a messenger bag slung across her shoulder that contained her lightsaber stashed in a hidden compartment lined with scatterweave, a bunch of random trinkets that a Nautolan woman her age might carry around with her, and a small vial of a rather precious fluid in the same compartment that held her lightsaber. Thought it was a poison, it was marked as medicine for her, she even had documents to back that up, if they managed to get caught with it.

The poison itself was something she had procured from an ISB contact, completely untraceable, it would make it seem like their target had been infected by a new strain of the AMS virus, which would wreck his immune system and cause a heart attack that would take his life within a few days. The hermes variant was already starting to cause waves around the Galaxy, not for its severity or how fast it spread, but how quickly it burned out those it infected. The death would simply be summed up as another AMS fatality, and poisoning a few aide around their target would just make it seem like an outbreak. These New Mandalorians would have no option but to quarantine the palace, and once no further cases cropped up they would attribute it to the quarantine working. All they had to do was get their targets to consume it.

New Mandalore remained a jewel, untouched and unbothered by the simple conflicts of war and death across the galaxy. Its cities were filled with eager, joyful, and ignorant masses, blindly stumbling towards their safe jobs at BES-Corp. They have known a safety enviable to much of the galaxy, and host a philosophy incompatible with true Mandalorians. To say nothing of their spiritual differences with the mighty Sith. These worms enjoyed a peace that the Sith could never know, for the Sith know the truth: There is not peace. The bronze bull, the great false idol, that these pitiful snakes worship is a fantasy spread by the weak and fearful, to protect themselves from the true rule of the strong.

They had two targets - the Duchess in the palace, and the Clan Ordo factories. Both were in the capital city, where they had conveniently landed, but they would need information to make it further. In the busy spaceport ahead, they had countless options on how to proceed. It would be almost overwhelming. If not for the Force, the whisper of the Dark Side flowing through Acolyte and Champion, providing a path ahead. The pair would sense a disturbance. Not a major one, but...more of a premonition. There was a Mandalorian Guard ahead, sternly observing the pair as they felt the touch of the Force. It almost seemed as if he felt it, too.

Should the pair choose to ignore them, countless taxi droid services lay before them, eager to take their credits and lead them to just about any part of the city. The choice was theirs to make.

As he stepped down the ramp of their civilian-licensed transport, Jaikus couldn’t help but feel entirely in his element. This was exactly the type of covert work where the Axxilan dedicated most of his time and energy - operating entirely within the background and beyond the watchful eyes of the Galaxy. It was the type of work that advanced the interests of the Empire without ever compromising his own autonomy and freedom.

So while Ashla was less-than-pleased to be falling back into old practices, Jaikus looked cool as a space-cucumber.

“Nice hair-do.” The Axxilan said, glancing over towards Ashla with a smirk. By comparison, Jaikus had combed and styled his dark hair neatly into place - sporting much the same style that he normally would in his day-to-day life. The only key difference was the pair of blue colored contacts that he wore, masking the natural color of his eyes.

While Ashla handled the components that would be used for the assassination of the Duchess and those closest to her, Jaikus handled supplies of his own - equip for handling the other portions of their purpose on New Mandalore. A spider-like surveillance droid was tucked into a hidden compartment in his jacket, deactivated and taking the form of a marble-sized metallic sphere. Locating and identifying the family and those with any connection to the Mand’alor would be among their top priorities, and the droid would be used to keep tabs on their movements going forward. They would be an asset at the ISB’s disposal, in the event that the new Mand’alor ever began to question his alliance with the Empire.

And then there were the Clan Ordo factories. Regardless of their objective today, Jaikus knew that if and when the resurgent Mandalorian’s claimed this planet, they would eventually retrofit those same facilities for their war effort - and it was precisely for that reason that Jaikus carried a small, black data-chip tucked into his pocket - infected with a particulary insidious dataplague, recently eveloped by the ISB. Known to a limited few as ‘S.P.E.C.T.E.R’, once infected, the dataplague would seek to spread itself to every computer system within the factories, and it would give the Sith the ability to remotely shut down production units.

It was a weapon he intended to use extensively, and the clan Ordo factories would be the first target of that plan.

Jaikus walked shoulder-to-shoulder with Ashla, citrine eyes scanning the horizon ahead of them - flicking between the civilians who moved to the countless taxi’s that zipped in and out of the spaceport. There was countless methods of going about their operation, and yet there was one direction in particular that stuck out to Jaikus above them all. It was but a faint whisper amongst the Force, and it pointed the Axxilan towards the Mandalorian guard positioned at the far side of the crowd. He didn’t know what it was about that individual in particular, but it was distinct enough to justify following his instincts.

“Him, on your left.”

Jaikus’ telepathic voice would echo in the Togruta’s mind, alerting her of the individual if she wasn’t aware already. Without another word, the Axxilan began to cut a path through the crowd - gravitating towards the guard

Ashla flicked her head, imitating a simple gesture that she had seen Vahliri, Malou, and many of her other friends with actual hair pull off with little to no effort, but had taken about a thousand tries in front of a holomirror for her to perfect. Maybe it was because she was trying it with prosthetic tendrils instead of actual hair, or her trying to learn in days what they had all known all their life. "It's nice, right?" She asked Jaikus with a confident smile and coy inflection to her voice, before a bit of nervousness took over and she leaned in. "Seriously though, it's nice, right?" She did another little flick, this one less smooth than the last one, her nervousness evident as she continued in a more urgent tone."I have no idea what everyone does with all this dangly stuff on their heads, its not obvious right? How Altair manages with hair and horns is beyond me!"

But despite her nervousness about the prosthetic, she was not distracted from the job at hand, and when Altair pointed out the guard, she nodded in acknowledgement, trying to figure out a course of action, it seemed like they would have to deal with him before they moved on. Deciding this was as good a time as any to test out her new trick, she gave Altair a wink and stepped ahead, reaching the guard a few steps before the Champion.

"Hi, hello, could you help me please!" She put on her best impression of a ditzy girl from the core worlds, a bimbo as she had heard Vahliri call them. "I'm supposed to be attending a seminar on farming equipment and I'm hopelessly lost. They said its near the palace and whooshed away, like could they not have sent someone else? I mean can you imagine me, knowing anything about farming equipment?" She smiled, waving her hands about charmingly, letting him focus on her manicured and nicely painted nails. "They could have at least sent me with someone who knew their way, but all I have is this bubbling old guy who drinks too much. Help a girl out, would you?" She smiled as she playfully put a hand on hie arm, and the smile changed from innocent to inviting as she let her hand wander up his biceps for a moment. "Oh my, you work out, don't you? I wouldn't mind someone like you showing my around this place. You don't get off soon, do you?" She immediately started giggling, giving him a wink as she continued with the ditzy, flirty chatter. If they were lucky it might work on him, if not then she could create enough of a distraction to give Jaikus a chance to try something else.

The masked guard turned towards Ashla, a feeling of annoyance in his voice as he cleared his throat. However, Ashla's so-called 'bimbo' routine did the job. Heat rose to his face, as he listened intently to her story. "Y-yes, Ma'am. Fitness requirements and all that." He pointed in the direction of a droid taxi service, beginning to step towards it himself. "Is there somewhere in particular you want to go? It would help if I knew where this seminar was..."

He gave her a look, though, as inspiration seemed to strike him. Or perhaps, he himself had felt a whisper of the Force, an idea of the right thing to say - manipulated by the living Darkness that engulfed the aura of the Sith pair. "Oh, that's the one at the Lower Palace, isn't it? You need directions there?"

It was at this point that they could see the Guard's identification badge. He was Officer Garre Ordo, likely a member of Fenyang's own clan. A trip through the guard's pockets might reveal more than this.
