DESCRIPTION​

Neuronic whips are a particularly cruel melee weapon developed to induce maximum pain to the target without fatally harming them. Simple in design, a neuronic whip consists of a grip which contains the power source, plus a length of flexible, conductive material. The weapon is - naturally - intended to be used as a lash, and inflicts electrical damage to its target with each strike. The power source of the weapon produces a current that is calculated to disrupt the nervous system of most sentient beings, and thus blows with a neuronic whips are extraordinarily painful. If desired, the output of the weapon can be dialed up for a stun effect, which fully shorts out the target nervous system and causes temporary unconsciousness.

Neuronic whips, due to the suffering they inflict, are considered extremely inhumane weapons, and are banned outright on most civilized worlds. They are favored by slavers and torturers, however, as well as certain bounty hunters; the charged nature of a neuronic whips makes it resistant to lightsabers and vibroweapons, although using one to counter such weapons requires a great deal of skill.
