Nar Shaddaa was a total mess and chaos, Syndicates and gangs had slowly begun to show their true colors to the public they often swore they cared about. The whole lower levels had slowly become infected and many were still struggling to get out. The Jedi had a strong response and were slowly helping ease the outbreak, while a few trusted Knights continued to search for clues to answers on further leads towards where the infection began.

Oren had barely slept the past few days, and he was starting to feel the tiredness from the situation at hand, but he would wait to rest another day. People need our help, we can rest when this is over.. He kept telling himself as he splashed water across his face. Nara and himself had barely escaped the Hotel of Horrors a few days earlier, and now he was ready for another mission. His latest apprentice Fiach had been assessing the situations from the outbreak command center and had caught wind of a supposed minor syndicate withholding major medical and food supplies. She wanted to see if they could put a stop to it somehow and Oren agreed--all the supplies they could muster would help squash this bug.

"Fiach," he'd smile softly, his eyes clearly tired. "You said you have some information you'd like to share?"

Fiach opened her mouth and then closed it. Her typical response would have been to share, chapter and verse, everything she knew about Nor Shadda. How it was known as the Smuggler’s Moon (given it was not even a planet) and it orbited the Hutt’s homeworld. She could have spent a day explaining the history of the criminal haven and even spent an hour sharing what she knew of the current situation with regards the crime syndicates and their hold on the place (and the population).

But she knew now that this was not what her Master wanted and so checked herself and began again.

“A lot of what I have learned is, I have to say, conjecture at present.” Which was Fiach’s way of saying she did not wholly trust the data or the sources and she preferred accurate information always, especially if she was relaying it and the recipient might take what she said as factual.

“Your previous work and subsequent activity in relation to the spice incident on Utapau, has definitely suggested this is a galaxy-wide issue. Unconfirmed — yet consistent and significant in volume — reports have come to light of what can only be described as the dead rising. Zombies if you will. The records show,” she stole a glance at her Master, to see how he might react to her use of history books, “corpses can be revived through supernatural means such as Dathomirian witchcraft. And during the Clone Wars, a resurrection spell was used to revive a group of corpses to participate in a battle to repel the Separatist forces led by General Grievous.”

“There is also a record of parasitic brain worms used to reanimate and control corpses. And finally, and perhaps more relevant, there was a project that accidentally produced a virus that transformed humanoids into cannibalistic undead.”

“Regardless of how it happened, we have a list of locations that are linked to the infection. But that isn’t our task today, just useful intelligence. As a result of the infections, supplies are being hoarded and not getting to those that need them. We are en route to a site where Hutt gangsters are believed to have taken much needed supplies and we should encourage them to share them.”

Fiach’s approach was always to seek a non-aggressive and non-violent approach initially, even in the face of Hutt mobsters. But she was also pragmatic enough to appreciate that negotiations were not always enough to achieve a mission.

Oren listened to his apprentice as they flew to the lower level sectors. As always, she didn't back down from the knowledge she had gathered on the subject of the dead and reanimation. "You read that on the holonet?" He was familiar with ideas that there were talks of reanimation, but the Jedi Master had not found much matter on the subject.

"Projects that turned people into zombies?" He'd ponder as he brought his ship down into an abandoned port station. "It seems interesting, but I thought that was merely conjecture on the part of the Rebel Alliance," he'd shake it off, now wasn't the time for potential hypothesis and conspiracies. "You're correct, we need to find Durra the Hutt and have him provide the supplies to us, or come to some form of agreement."

He would prefer to end things with some form of peaceful agreement, but he knew that such a challenge would be extremely difficult. But, he would worry about that then. The first problem at hand would be making it to the warehouse that they had shut themselves off in. The dead would be lurking across the platforms and streets, and Quarantine droids would surely be about. "Fiach, have your saber ready..today's mission is your first one with the chance of death..I ask you be prepared and listen to my instruction."

He seemed more serious here than he probably ever had been with the girl, "The infected are dead, there is no harm in destroying them..they won't die unless they are struck in the head..I don't know how many of them are out there, but they won't stop until they are on top of you..do you understand?"

"Some," she responded, "and some in the library. It's never about seeking a single source, as any historian knows. Often you build up a picture from multiple accounts that gives a bigger picture. There is always some truth, even in fables. It's just understanding where the fact ends and the fiction starts."

She moved her cloak to one side, to show she had her saber with her. She'd read how - during the Clone Wars - it was droids that were a significant threat to the Republic and mused that fighting them must have been similar. There was no moral quandary, as no sentient being was in danger. "I understand Master," she replied, "Decapitation is the most effective course of action and I am prepared to defend myself and you of course."

"I am ready."

Oren listened to the girl with a soft smile, "Decapitation works, but piercing the brain also works, or crushing it..use the tools and assess the situation at hand." He'd unclip his lightsaber, holding the reforged blade in his hand, feeling the weight and burden of the fallen in his very palm--it was the one thing that kept him pushing to be a better Jedi, to make sure that Nara and Fiach became far better than he had ever been.

"Don't try to fight them, just to fight them, we should be fine if we try to sneak past them," he would say with a soft whisper as he crept through the halls of the empty spaceport. Graffiti stretched across the dark halls and the smell of blood and decay filled his nostrils. This was not the second time he had experienced the dead, and he was ready for such encounters.

Slowly they would creep into the expanse of the district, finding that the streets had been abandoned, except for nearly a dozen zombies waiting within the streets. Oren would take cover behind an abandoned air-truck, peering towards his apprentice, "They are attracted to the smell of blood and sound..fresh corpses are much faster and can run in sprints..while ones that have been dead for longer can only walk..start to sneak, using the cars as cover."

Whatever they were, they made little noise. They weren't even breathing. Instead the undead made small grunting noises, the sound of bodies pushing themselves along for the simplest of motives. And she sensed every one of them emanating from them…hunger, hatred, rage.

She held her breath and didn't move. But that was not a long term strategy and she knew it, she had to push past them somehow. Fighting them was, as her Master stated, not a sensible option. If nothing else, it might attract more.

The newly dead were an adversary she never expected to face, but then, until not so long ago, the Force and Jedi were little more than a fairy-tale. Oddly, she felt no fear at the sight of them, no sense of foreboding — only a sadness at their fate.

Her Master’s words echoed in her mind until they permeated the part that called her into action. Fortunately she was not bleeding and could be quiet. This was in her favour. And so she pressed forward, using the vehicles as cover, walking as swiftly and as silently as she — and the Force — allowed.

Fiach never believed in luck, and was now sure that success in the past was a blend of skill and the Force. And thus it was now, as she managed to make her way past the zombies undetected.

Oren followed behind his apprentice, keeping track of her movements as he thought about how far they still had to go. He estimated they were still four blocks away, he didn't believe in Luck, everything stemmed from some previous action, they were all echoes, creating more distant echoes. He watched as they slipped between cars, his eye peering towards the shambling moans of the dead.

It was strange to think that they were once alive only days earlier, but now they had become ghoulish in their looks and their mind rotting away left the Jedi with a sense of despair towards how this could have happened. He accepted the thoughts and centered himself as they came around the corner. Behind a set of barricades was what he assumed to be thirty or more zombies. There was no way they could cross without possibly going in there.

But, he saw a way, an old fire speeder had extended it's bridge out and over the barrier. They could climb it and jump towards the other side with the aide of the force, or at least that was the plan. Oren would lead Fiach up first, following close behind. As they progressed up the speeder would slowly groan and the bridge would tip sending them crashing into the interior of the barrier. Oren felt his ankle twist and a shooting pain up his ankle. The zombies slowly turned towards them and they would be chewed meat if they didn't find a way out of the situation. He'd quickly pull up his apprentice as he winced, "Do you see a way out of here?"

//We have two rounds to try and escape.

So far and so good. Not that Fiach was complacent, for she was aware that she was dealing with things she knew little about in practice and her control of the Force was still rudimentary.

And no sooner had she breathed a sigh of relief at their quick progress than they rounded a corner and saw a host of the undead barring their way. Fortunately there was a solution — the bridge afforded by an old fire truck. It wasn’t an ideal plan but it was far better than having to deal with the horde directly.

Following her Master, she climbed up the vehicle that afforded them a solution to their problem. Unfortunately, it was not as sturdy as it looked and in a few moments, they went from perfectly safe to in the midst of the zombies. If there was any good fortune, it was that Fiach landed safely enough — the same could not be true for her Master though.

And then the inevitable happened, her Master turned to her for a way out. And under pressure, it is said that individuals go for what they know best. Which for Fiach was not the Force.

Tapping her belt, she indicated the cable launcher that was standard issue on their utility belts. Without thinking, she unclipped it and activated the cable launcher and the sharp spike flew upwards, hopefully finding a suitable purchase.

Thankfully it embedded itself on a window ledge and Fiach flicked the switch that took her skyward, and away from the zombie hoard.

The zombies slowly turned and groaned, their hands drawn out and shuffling towards them. Things weren't looking good for the two Jedi, and well Oren was practically expecting such a situation to occur--things never really seemed to go as expected when on the mission...It's adaptability that determines a Jedi...yeah we'll go with that one Oren.

This wasn't a rancor in an arena with a Mandalorian firing shots at you, long story, but it was still bad enough, but Fiach seemed to have herself well handled. "You seem like you've been in this spot before," the Jedi master would say in the proper core world twang that he had picked up from years in and out of Coruscant and his time in prison. "Good thinking Fiach."

He would quickly follow the instructions of his padawan and would click on his own utility belt, and with a wince would slowly pull himself up towards the roof that overlooked the level they were on. Down below he could see the zombies who looked similar to ants, "Well, unless they learn to fly--I think we're good."

His mechanical hand would clasp against his apprentice's shoulder as he began to limp along the roof tops, jumping down and climbing up various walls, as they descended over buildings towards the location they needed to reach. The two of them would eventually find themselves attempting to cross a large and run down apartment building roof. "It appears they haven't had maintenance touch this in years...we should be careful."

The two of them would slowly step out, the cracks and groans of the pressure of their feet only added to the suspense, but the two of them made it with the guidance of the Jedi Master's careful footwork, or at least the best he could manage with the injuries he had. "Look, I see a construction chute."

He'd point towards a slide like contraption, "We could use it, and possibly bypass the last two blocks.." But, there was a pressing problem. Ten zombies surrounded a woman and her child who were stuck on the top of a landspeeder. They were faced with a difficult choice, and one that Oren knew his answer to, but it was time for his student to make a decision. What will you do?

Fiach was not surprised but still relieved that her plan had not only been successful, but had actually afforded them a short-cut to their intended target.

Fortunately she was much lighter than her Master and with his route-planning she was able to cross the unstable roof relatively easily. Yes, there was the occasional creak and flex underfoot, but she made it safely across and to the chute that promised the opportunity to make this journey swifter and safer. At least for them.

For down below was not only a mother and child — but a dilemma. The sort that Jedi no doubt face daily. Except Fiach was a Padawan and had never had to make such a difficult decision before.

If there was a plus in the scenario, it came in the form of her Master’s teachings. His theoretical discussions and debates when on missions, or even just walking around the Jedi Temple were preparing her for such an eventuality.

Logic said to avoid the confrontation and take the short-cut. It was a numbers game after all. Save (or maybe just potentially save) two individuals and risk losing the supplies that would feed so many.

Logic was one of the reasons Fiach made decisions but not the only one. Her heart said that was the wrong choice. One was a definite life-saving scenario and the other was — for the present — just a theory.

Was it her heart or the Force that guided her decision? It did not matter right now for the young Padawan, but she was sure to reflect upon the situation when and if she survived the mission.

“We’re heading down,” she said firmly.I,” she made it clear it was her decision regardless of her Master’s thoughts, “cannot turn my back on the innocent and the weak. They need our help.”

She looked into her Master’s eyes. Not with defiance, but with a steely glaze that said she was not expecting a debate on the subject.

The Jedi Master would watch the girl as she looked down upon the woman and child, his lone eye focused on the girl as his dead eye slowly activated force sight, watching her essence shift as she contemplated over the choices that she was going to make. He knew the answer from the start, the time of training and constant talks had assured him with a good understanding of how she operated, but in the heat of the moment one could never truly know just how someone would choose to act.

"Good," he'd say with a stoic voice, "Now you understand the process of action, and inaction. Remember that inaction is not the same as apathy, and that sometimes you will find yourself in a situation where such a response may be needed, but for now you made the right choice."

He would smile softly before descending down the building, his ankle burning with fire as he winced. He saw ten zombies slowly shambling towards the woman and her child who huddled along the top of the car. A few of the zombies would turn back as he finally hit the street. "Hello there," he'd say with a soft smile forming on his worn face.

Raising his left hand he would call upon the force, summoning a powerful push through the force, that sent five of the zombies flying back and crushing into a wall, their legs twisting and breaking as they crawled and moaned. "Fiach, let's see what you can do." The crawlers were still alive, but they could easily outrun such creatures if needed--Five still remained and could possibly still take down the child and mother if they weren't careful.

If Fiach believed the decision to act to save the mother and child was the only dilemma she’d face then she was sadly mistaken. It was one thing to consider action against a foe in theory. Sparring with training sabers could hurt and even burn the skin, but would be fixed within a matter of minutes, if not hours. And destroying droids seemed entirely sensible — they were not sentient. But what faced her was, at one time at least, human. They may be dead technically, but they operated much like they were still alive.

And, how would the child react and be affected by seeing these zombies decapitated in front of their eyes? Actions always had reactions, that much was a given for Fiach.

All this passed through her conscious mind as she descended to the ground. If there was a plus, it was that her Master dealt with half of the undead immediately. Five was better than ten to deal with but it was still five. And getting close to them was not her first choice.

As ever, she went with what she knew. Glancing around, she saw a number of speeders that had been abandoned, including one on its roof. Instantly an idea formed in her head. If she could use the Force to drag it across the street, she could pin the zombies in place, and afford the mother and child time to escape.

So Fiach closed her eyes momentarily and connected deeply with the Force. Opening them again, she stretched out her left hand and connected with the upturned speeder via the Force. Then, she quickly moved her hand towards the remaining zombies, anticipating the speeder would follow the path of her hand.

Fiach knew the secret of working with the Force was to believe and tell the Force what you wanted and trust in it to help you. And so it happened. In fact, it went almost perfectly as she speeder travelled across the street, picking up momentum as it moved and it neatly trapped the remaining zombies between the speeder Fiach was controlling and the one the mother and child were standing on.

Oren watched his apprentice with some amazement, her control of the force was calm, even under the pressure of the situation, her progression rivals that of some Knights..and she's still learning, there is no doubt in my mind that she could become one of the strongest members of our order. His eye focused on the speeder as it went crashing into the zombies, pinning them down.

Wasting no time, Oren would quickly make his way over towards the woman and the child, his hands reaching out to help them down. "Come on now," he'd say in a soft voice as he helped the little girl down from the speeder, his hand planting firmly on her head as he looked towards the mother who was crying.

"Thank..thank you..." She stammered, as she hugged the Jedi Master, her hands snaking around his back as she clenched to him. "What's going on here...no one is telling us anything, and we..."

"It's going to be okay," he'd say quietly, "My name is Jedi Master Oren Zapan, and this is my apprentice Fiach." He'd turn towards his student with a smile. "We're going to lead you out of here, and we're going to get you to safety..we just need you stay in between me and my apprentice."

He would take the lead, with Fiach in the back, "We should be able to reach safety soon enough, I estimate we're close to two blocks away from reaching a safezone.." The Master didn't bother to say that they were heading towards the Hutts who had a stranglehold over everything, that wouldn't help the situation.

Instead, he focused on the task at hand and would gently unclip his saber, his white light lighting up the black underpass that they entered. It was quiet, with only the sound of the dripping pipes below. "Stay close.." He could feel something, but wasn't quite sure what was going to happen. I have a bad feeling about this.

That was when a large mutated trandoshan would come busting through the shadows, blood dripping from it's decaying maw. It stood much taller and thicker than one should, and it smelled of death. The claws on the creature were razor sharp, and Oren knew this wasn't good. "Go...we need to turn back now!"

Fiach was calm and collected under the circumstances. It was one of the reasons she was suited to Soresu and the third Form to her. For she trusted the Force implicitly and was never surprised at whatever came her way.

She smiled softly at the mother and child and stood slightly behind her Master as he took control of the situation. Once the two were safely on firm ground, Fiach took the child by the and despite her lack of natural empathy, knew what to do. For, given this was Fiach, she had learned the appropriate responses by rote.

“You hold on to my hand, OK?”

The little one nodded.

“You’ve been very brave so far and we’re not that far from somewhere where you’ll be safe. We’ll look after you and all I ask is that you listen to us and trust us. You can do that, can’t you?”

Again, the young child nodded.

“Excellent,” Fiach said. “Now, let’s follow my Master and keep as quiet as we can.”

Fiach sensed something ahead. Nothing tangible, but it made her feel uneasy. And before she could share her misgivings with her Master, they came across the reason for her discomfort. To the child’s credit, no sound came from her lips and Fiach tucked her behind the folds of her cloak, and held on to her hand, her right hand kept free in case she needed her saber.

Turning back was the instant option that Fiach had considered, but there was no guarantee the mutated undead creature would comply. Slowly Fiach retraced their steps, her eyes firmly on the blood-stained teeth of the trandoshan.

The Padawan did not believe in luck - she never had. But something was going right for her just now as she was able to back-up with the young girl out of the undead creature's way and...it seemed to appear...that they hadn't been spotted.

Oren could see the hulking beast coming towards them and instinctively put his arm on the mother, as he peered back, seeing that Fiach had begun to descend against the wall and into the shadows. Smart thinking Fiach... He'd quickly follow suit, backing up as quickly as possible until he and the mother were practically on top of Fiach and the young child.

The large beast crashed down the walkway, breathing heavily as the head shifted around, looking for prey to eat. It smelled of death and dried blood, and a cool sensation ran across the force as Oren held the three of them tightly. Don't look.. He'd whisper through the force as he did his best to hid them from the sight. Whatever the beast was, the mutations must have affected its eyesight as it clambered on down the walkway and into the block they had come from previous.

Oren would take a deep breath as he pulled away from the group, pausing though as he realized they had been leaning up against a maintenance door. He'd quickly bring his saber up, cutting through the door and motioning towards the group to follow him. "It'll be safer this way," he'd say as he zigzagged across the tight narrow walkways until he found a manhole that lead above.

Wasting no time, the Jedi Master would make his way up the ladder and onto the surface where the warehouse and a group of armed guards stood watch. He'd pull himself up and then would go to help the group up. "Stay behind me.." He'd say quietly as he made his way towards the guards who raised their blasters.

"I come in peace," the Jedi master would say with a soft smile as he held up his hands, he knew that gangsters weren't the charitable kind, and they peered towards the children and the woman. "This is my wife and my two daughters." He'd say quietly, a little lie never hurt anyone. "I'm a bounty hunter, and with protection of my family, I'd like to meet with you Hutt Lord to request their protection in exchange for my services."

The Gangsters peered to each other, whispering before motioning towards them to follow. It seemed it worked or they could have been walking into a trap, it was hard to say at this point. The group would make their way into a large industrial complex where guards, gangsters, and bounty hunters from all over the outer rim sat and watched. Supplies were scattered all over in large quantities and at the center of it all was a Hutt and a protocol droid.

"The Mighty Ji'agga the Hutt requests to know why you have entered our abode...have you brought him slaves?" The 3PO Model droid would ask in a cheery voice.

Fiach’s role was – given her position and experience – one of following orders and taking the initiative when necessary and only when necessary.

Their escape from the beast could have been described as fortuitous, but it was done calmly and with a plan and for that, Fiach had her training, the Force and good instincts to thank. The creature had bypassed them and not only had they been able to escape unscathed but they’d actually stumbled on a short-cut in the process and so arrived at the Hutt’s hideout quicker than anticipated and unmolested too. Of course, they were travelling with the mother and daughter still, but right now, they were safer with Oren than by themselves. The little girl was mightily impressed by Oren’s ability to deal with the door so swiftly but remained quiet, as Fiach had asked her.

Of course, Fiach had no way of telling what they might face ahead, but she trusted in her Master – and above all, the Force. The guards were menacing but Fiach did not see them as a threat, and so it proved, her Master able to talk his way past them easily. The little girl again held her tongue at his story and Fiach smiled down at her, and gave her hand a little squeeze to show her appreciation.

The stronghold was busier than Fiach had expected and in a sense it was comforting. They would be required to deliver a peaceful settlement and that was a positive for the Padawan.

They were quickly brought before the boss, a one ‘Ji’agga the Hutt’ and his protocol droid indicated not only that they were unlikely to be summarily executed, but that his weakness was for slaves.

As a Padawan, she would not have spoken first, and as the daughter of the ‘bounty hunter’ that stood at the head of the group, she would certainly not speak up unless asked to. So instead she held her cloak tightly around her frame, so her saber did not show and held the little girl close to her, to hopefully retain her silence and give her some comfort too.

All eyes were now on Oren – including Fiach’s momentarily, before her gaze swept the room. She was counting. People, weapons, potential exits. And planning the best escape route in case needed. And then a back-up and finally a third choice. A Jedi plans for success and then plans for failure. Preparation was key and although a positive outcome was the focus, it was unwise not to consider the possibility of not managing a successful conclusion to their mission.

Oren stepped forward, his hand resting behind the group, to stay where they were. "My name is Jedi Master Oren Zapan," he would say truthfully, realizing that it was most likely not the best thing to lie in this situation. "This is my apprentice Fiach, and two survivors we rescued on our way to find you." His words were calm, as he noticed the men shifting as the Hutt licked his lips.

"We come before you today my lord, to request your aide..The people of Nar Shaddaa need strong and merciful leaders.." Yeah no one in Nar Shaddaa ever did anything because they felt it was out of the kindness of their heart, they wanted credits or something that would entice them to act out charity--you can't call that charity.

"We do not have credits to broker such a purchase of these supplies, but we could make sure that your name is provided to the people, and that you stood above profits and came to their help when they needed you the most.." The silence of the room was what got the Jedi Master, it was tense, and then the Hutt laughed--his belly bouncing as he held his little hands against it.

"Ho..Ho..Ho!" He'd motion towards the troops who moved in, securing the woman and the child, pulling them away from the Jedi--their screams and cries for help echoed through the warehouse and it made Oren sick to his stomach.

"What are you doing," he growled as his hand reached for his saber, but he stopped--realizing that such a ploy could get the two survivors killed.

"Mighty J'agga says that these two will make a fine collection to his slave pens...and thanks you for providing such a generous gift, but your demands hold no power here Jedi Scum..." The Droid would shift, its orange eyes peering towards them, "Though the Hutt may consider helping you with a few supplies, and releasing the survivors if you provide your gracious services to him..His son, prince Xantha is stuck in their humble estate of the penthouse tower..Please bring the child, and we may consider returning you what you seek."

Oren huffed as he turned, grabbing Fiach by the shoulder. "It shall be done, Mighty J'agga." He'd lean in with a whisper, "I know what you're thinking, but we have no choice..we save this kid, and we bring him back, but don't trust a Hutt..ever. We're going to save them, and we're going to get some of those supplies.. I promise."

Missions for Fiach, to date, had been pretty routine affairs. Dropping off supplies or picking up intelligence reports. More testing ones had included finding shelter for refugees or driving away some low-level bandits. Yes, at times, her safety had been in jeopardy – but her current way of life was her own choice. At no time had she been directly responsible for another person living or dying – and right now, she was unsure how she would cope. Maybe the burden would ease the more often you were faced with the dilemma? Or maybe not.

Regardless, she knew her Master was right in his swift assessment of the situation. She was aware the Hutt were immune to Mind Control, and so there was no possibility of changing his decision using the Force.

As the scenario played out, she assessed the situation in her own way – applying logic and rules wherever possible. In doing so, she was a glimmer of positivity. Had the Hutt not needed his child to be returned, they would have been in a much worse situation.

She shot the young girl a smile and a nod of reassurance. ‘We’ll be back,’ she mouthed and hoped the child both understood and believed her. And she also needed to believe the Hutt would hold his word and keep them safe until they returned with his offspring. Assuming it was a he…it was hard to tell Hutts apart, at least for Fiach.

As they hastened to leave, Fiach nodded her understanding of her Master’s plan. “Yes, Master. I fear we have little choice but to expect the Hutt to keep his word. And once we have the prince, he may be more agreeable to keep his end of the bargain. They may be hard-nosed gangsters, but they seem to have a family loyalty that suggests we will get our supplies and the return of the mother and child.”

She sighed audibly. “I am glad you are here, Master. I do not know what I would have done in the same situation.”

Raising the hood of her cloak, as if to signify she meant business, she straightened her back and pushed back her shoulders. “Right, let’s find this Palace and the Prince. I have memorised the layout of the area and so I know we’re not so far away from the location. When I say not far, it’s actually eight blocks away.”

For the first time in the young Jedi's life she was faced with a real problem, one that would cause ripples and echoes across the force based on the outcome, he could see the burden on her shoulders and the weight it placed on her. Nashyr's words rung through his mind, about not taking things and bundling them up completely, it was a dangerous proposition that Oren often found himself doing. When one feels as if the burden of the galaxy is on their shoulders alone, they apply stress to themselves and it helps to manifest greater feelings of doubt on their capabilities, in truth this was still something Oren struggled with, but he wasn't going to let Fiach put this squarely on her shoulders.

As they made their way back onto the streets, he would nod as he fixed the poncho that hung over his body, eight blocks wasn't far, and not all of the streets were full of the dead or looters, but who knew what laid beyond the unknown. His lone eye scanned across the surroundings as they went down the first two empty blocks. "There is no good way to handle a situation like that," he'd say quietly, "We simply take the sabaac cards dealt to us and try to play the best hand we have."

He'd pause as they came to the third block. "Can you see anything ahead?" He'd ask quietly.

As they left the warehouse, Fiach — for the first time since she’d arrived — took stock of their surroundings. She nodded at her Master’s words, it was true, you could only work with what you had and put your faith in your abilities and the Force.

The moon was — at the best of times — a landscape of unfettered urban sprawl. There were towering skytowers crammed too close together and gaudy, glowing billboards that dominated the horizon as far as the eye could see in every direction. It was once described as Little Coruscant, but to Fiach that made little sense. Coruscant was designed with an eye to aesthetics. Yes, it was vertical build but there was a pleasing flow to the cityscape and a consistent and complementary style to the architecture. It sported various districts, making it easy to navigate. The pedestrian walks were crowded but clean, and the endless stream of airspeeders stayed within their designated traffic lanes. It exuded order and purpose.

Here, it seemed to be little more than a free-for-all. Run-down residential buildings were scattered haphazardly among seedy-looking commercial structures. Factories rubbed shoulders with restaurants and clubs. And even now, your eyeliner was disrupted by toxic clouds of unknown origins. At least now, there were thankfully fewer airspeeders to duck.

She closed her eyes and connected deeply with the Force. Her eyes, as she knew, only told part of the story. Instead, she sensed in all directions using the Force, seeking to understand what lay ahead. “I sense more undead ahead, Master. Three I believe. It’s hard to be sure given they aren’t alive, so blend into the background to my less well trained senses.”
