Herrith paced the room as she waited for Caiden Vex to allow an audience. She'd been waiting for 30 bloody minutes. He was probably testing her nerve. She was pissed. The stuff the Syndicate does, the slavery, the thievery from innocent people, it was all just out of hand. She didn't mind stealing here and there, but slavery was past the limit. Nobody deserved to live like that.

Maybe she should find a way to knock him into slavery, maybe he'd change a thing or two then.

At any rate, Herrith wanted a nice long talk with the man. As generous as he had been, she had no intention of letting him get away with this stuff without at least an earful.

The Syndicate had taken a fall recently. Their mission to Ryloth ended badly when they were abruptly attacked by the Protectorate. The mission was scrubbed, the Syndicate only got a fraction of the resources they'd hoped for, and worst of all they'd lost their flagship The Arrow. But one good thing came out of all that mess. The Empire had formed a solid contract with the Syndicate which would allow for significant more trafficking of goods and services between the two parties.

It was then that another stroke of luck came about them as several independent factions decided to come together to bring down the Hutts. The Desijilic family fell and their land was ripe for the taking. The Syndicate was busier than ever securing the new ships, warehouses, and properties they could snag before other parties got interested. But with the Empire as their allies, the Syndicate was able to get their pull without having to sneak around through Imperial territory.

Being as busy as he was, Herrith was lucky to even get a meeting with Caiden at all. The fact he was a half hour late was a blessing. For all he cared he could have been four hours late or more. He finally entered with another man at his side whom he thanked for all his support before shutting the door between them. Caiden took a long sigh before turning to face Herrith.

He was wearing a suit as he always did when he was in the office. Not like the first time he met her when he was dressed in some strange vigilante/assassin garb. Now he was all cleaned up and dressed like the eligible bachelor that he was. His white shirt was buttoned to the collar but he quickly started undoing them as he entered into the room. Under his shirt she might see a chain necklace around his neck which held a green gem on it. But he tucked it back into his undershirt quickly as it came out. Over the shirt was a black dress coat with a fancy blue handkerchief in the breast pocket. He didn't seem armed but the jacket had a hidden sleeve in the ribs where he always kept a small knife should trouble arise.

"Miss Hendarsin," he would say with a smile. "To what do I owe this pleasure?" Caiden was as charming as ever.

Vex entered the room, visibly near worn-out. A brief pang of sympathy rang through the Zeltron, in which she quickly suppressed. Men like him didn't need sympathy. Vex sighed before unbuttoning the top buttons of his shirt, a green necklace flashing for a moment before it disappeared once more. Probably just a bribe or currency. More likely it was more important. That didn't matter just yet.

"Miss Hendarsin. To what do I owe this pleasure?"

Ah, her family name. A kind introduction with an insult hidden beneath, or so that's what Herrith took it as.
"Mister Vexley. Good to finally be able to talk to you."

She nodded before continuing.
"You look busy. But there's something I've been wanting to discuss."

The woman knew he was probably armed, and thus resisted the urge to pull a knife. She'd been pat down, but there were always places to hide a weapon. Always. Her eyes shone like freshly polished daggers, and that was enough.
"It seems your Syndicate has a fixation for slaves. And since you know me so well, you probably know exactly what this conversation is going to end up as next."

"You look busy. But there's something I've been wanting to discuss."

"Or else you wouldn't be here," he assured and crossed his arms. "Can I offer you a drink?" Regardless of her answer he would go to the bar and make himself a glass of something fancy. "So....what's on your mind then?"

"It seems your Syndicate has a fixation for slaves. And since you know me so well, you probably know exactly what this conversation is going to end up as next."

Had she requested a drink he'd now hand her the glass; moving to the desk he would answer her after taking a drink from his own glass. "It's a valuable commodity. One that has soared as of late due to the Hutts kicking the bucket. And it's not like the Empire, or even the old Republic, are ever going to change the fact people want it."

Looking at her in a long glance, clearly observing the girl's figure, he would take a drink and then continue, "So long as beautiful creatures like you exist, people will always want to enslave them. You'd best accept that fact, Herrith. You'll get farther in life that way."

"Can I offer you a drink?"

No thanks. She shook her head as he made himself something. He replied after a short sip to what she had said previously.
"It's a valuable commodity. One that has soared as of late due to the Hutts kicking the bucket. And it's not like the Empire, or even the old Republic, are ever going to change the fact people want it."

Damn the Hutts. Good that they toppled. Herrith liked to think she had a part in helping the blow that brought down those monsters. Guess it meant the next worse were the Syndicate. She continued to listen as Vex continued his speech.
"So long as beautiful creatures like you exist, people will always want to enslave them. You'd best accept that fact, Herrith. You'll get farther in life that way."

The Zeltron tipped her head and clipped back at the man.
"I wouldn't be working for the likes of you had I not gotten used to such a fact. And, just as a follow-up to your reasoning, the Hutts are gone, true. But what criminal organization do you think the Republic or the Legion will crush next? You? The Mandos, though those don't really count. Maybe the Black Sun? Likely you. Your faction owns quite a lot of less... civilized ideas, according to the Big Two."

She nodded before continuing.
"But don't think for a second I'm just going to adhere to what they think of as 'civilized', either. I'm not a tea drinking slimeball, am I?"

Only when the time called for it, at least..

The Zeltron was still angry, but she put on a less angered and more reasonable mindset. Caiden listened to intelligence, not force. Or so she'd come to understand. But people could change when they had a knife to their throat...

"Organizations such as us have always lived in the shadows. Even if the Legion tears us apart, we'll still be there, hiding in the darkest parts of the galaxy and building our strength up. Someone will always have to be there to do the things that no one wants to do in broad daylight. That's why the Syndicate exists. We do the dirty work for those that can't. Plus, we've secured a rather nice contract with the Empire. They won't be getting rid of us any time soon."

So, the Legion signed on the Syndicate for its dirty work. Surprising it didn't just do so itself. Seemed unlikely, but then again, unpredictable times.
"So you've sided with a slave-bearing, all-powerful, and frankly easy faction to make a profit from. Not to mention already being a slave-bearing, easily profitable syndicate. As much as I enjoy working for people that hand out decent credits, some things both of you do are a bit much. Slave trading, being one. Yeah, that's the main thing I've had a problem with. You can smooth-talk all you want around that but I'm just going to keep tieing everything back to the slaves."

Before she sounded like a total force for good will towards all like the Jedi, Herrith added to her comment.
"Not to say that I'm not unwilling to do 'dirty work', as I'm sure you've probably heard by now. Word spreads quickly in Hutt Space."

Her recent endeavors have been quite the opposite of legal in terms of the law, which is what she wanted to say before seeming to be some kind of righteous angel to who could very easily be the most dangerous man this side of the galaxy. Maybe.
"Plus, don't refer to me as part of your organization, cause I'm not. I work for money, not loyalty."
