Name:
Naboo
Coordinates: O17
Hyperlane: Enarc Run - Between the Hydain Way and the Corellian Run
Climate: Temperate with a polar region at each pole. It has four seasons, the first starts at the beginning of the migration of Shaak in which the Polar region begins to retreat. The second provides an abundance of growth in crop and wildlife population. The third is timed with the falling of leaves and the retreating of the Shaak from the Northern Plains to the edge of the Gallo Mountains. The fourth sees the encroachment of the polar region across a majority of the Northern plains. Each season lasts approximately a quarter of the year, with fluctuations of around 3-14 days.
Terrain:
  • Rolling grassy plains
  • Swamps
  • Grassy hills
  • Forests
  • Mountains
  • Arctic tundra at the poles
Rotation: Rotation take 26 standard hours and rotation around the star takes 312 standard days.
Inhabitants:

  • Gungans: Native to Naboo the Gungans are separated into two subspecies: the lanky Otolla race, who sported prominent bills and eyes set on short stalks, and the heavier Ankura race, whose eyes are hooded. The Gungan earlobes, called haillu, are most prominent in the Otolla subspecies. They are also used to display their emotions.

  • Humans: The human population of Naboo, call themselves the Naboo. The Naboo descended from the Grizmalltian Humans who fled a violent revolution on their planet. Led by spacer Kwilaan, they colonized Naboo and settled in the mountains and great grass plains around 3900 BBY.

  • Glurrgs: are a species of non-sentient, bipedal creatures that are employed as workers for the Gungan civilization.
latest

  • Shaak: are a plump quadrupedal herd animals native to the grasslands of Naboo. Shaaks were often raised for their meat, and had large, rotund bodies. They have relatively weak legs, however, and are barely able to keep themselves upright. Though prized for their meat by Naboo and Gungans alike, they are also prized for their fluff.

  • Blarths were medium-sized predators native to the planet. The Naboo named for the low burping sound that it made. Amiable and easily tamed, they were kept as a household pet and watch animal by Gungans since prehistoric times.

  • The Colo claw fish are one of the largest creatures found in the depths of Naboo's seas. The body of the Colo is very long and flat, with two rows of bioluminescent nodules along either side. It is the second largest predator on Naboo, larger than the opee sea killer, beaten out in size only to the massive Sando aqua monster.

  • :Falumpaset: They are a large mammal native to the planet. They roamed the plains, forests and swamps of the planet in large herds, and their distinctive call could be heard for kilometers around.
latest

  • Fambaa: The largest terrestrial herbivores of the swamp, Fambaas are technically amphibians but had the scaly hide of reptiles.
latest

  • Kaadu: They are large, flightless, reptavians that lived in the swamps of the planet. Gungans used them as mounts.
latest

  • Mott: They dwell in underground mudbank borrows. They eat a wide variety of vegetation and are a primary source of food for most swamp predators.

  • Plasma: Naboo was a geologically unique world in the galaxy. A plasmic molten outer core surrounded an inner core.
  • Grain: Vast acres of plains have been set up as grain farms by the Naboo settlers.
  • Art, cultural items: Naboo's third largest export area is the Arts. It's neighbours and galactic travelers can always appreciate a Naboo Masterpiece.

Government: The Naboo are currently engaged in a civil war between their Princely states. The war has left the Gungan tribes as a neutral party, for the most part. But the main factions are an Alliance of homesteads led by the Jafan Dynasty, based in the farming homestead of Theed and several other dynasties including Port Landien, the ancient Dee'ja Peak and Vis to name a few. The Gungans have an array of tribes throughout the swamps and even in the depths of the ocean. The two species have little interaction, except on the periphery.

On a Sector level, Naboo is under the jurisdiction of the Jedi. However, on the planet, the war continues between the Jafan Dynasty and it's allies; against the Deeja Peak Alliance. For the past five years, the war has consisted of a few large battles and a guerilla campaign. The Earl of Vis' efforts has given the Jafan Dynasty the power of an air force. So open war is becoming an impossibility for the Deeja Peaks forces.

This is leading to an extended conflict that King Jafan I wants stopped. Efforts have been made to attract call the Jedi for aid, to no avail. Will the King himself make a request, or will the Diplomatic Corps find a resolution? So far the Naboo have now been segragated into two sides. The Jafan Dynasty contains the states of Theed, Harte Secur, Port Landien, and a few tiny communities such as Parrlay, or Vis. The Deeja Peak Alliances dominate the Gallo Mountains, and includes the states of Deeja Peak, Ferentia, Keren on the banks of Lake Varum, and Moenia.

Culture: For twenty-five years the Naboo have been at war, it has now become an integral aspect of culture for some of the families of the Princely States, yet still some refuse to be involved and help the war effort in other ways such as food or by diplomatic means, with a hint of espionage. For the Gungan people war has always been a tradition, they are a proud martial race with a myriad of fascinating weaponry and shield technology.

Technology: Initially from the Grizmalt human population the Naboo have had an understanding of the galaxy's technology. Time isolated from the galactic community has created a scarcity among things like military technology as this cannot be bartered for with traders. So their focus has been on developing that which they have. Now almost in-line with the galactic standard, the militia's of Naboo have capable starfighters, but limitation of workshops had meant that the Naboo take a handcrafted approach to technology. Very pleasing aesthetically, but this still had limits in supply. However, brokered agreements with engineering companies has led to the founding of Nubia Star Drives, an event that has led to the Earl of Vis becoming a prominent figure in the War.

What technology has been shared by and with the Gungans has meant that the Naboo are competent with shield work and the Gungans have now developed deep sea vessels. But some of the things are still left to the Gungan people. Such as the plasma based Booma.

Satellites: Naboo has three moons, two of which have been explored and have outposts on, but the focus of the war on planet side has let nature overrun each sattelite. The two settle moons have the names: Ohma-D'un and Rori. The third moon is simply known by the Naboo as the third moon.

History:
Originally, Naboo was home to the reptilian Elders and the amphibian Gungans. Eventually the Elders went extinct, and a group of human colonists from Grizmallt crashed on Naboo. Led by Kwilaan, they ventured into the Gallo Mountains, created a farming community at the Dee'ja peak, establishing their presence on the planet and eventually taking its name for themselves. Tensions arose between the two peoples, and they started separate and apart from that point on.

latest

After the population of the Naboo expanded and other Settlements swelled. Technology improved to include farming tools, weapons and then an expedition to the crash site found some communications technology. All that was left, was power. A diplomatic party to a Gungan tribe brought forth the solution, a plasma based generator. It was then situated in Theed and the farming community blossomed into the large farming based township it is today. The same plasma still generating power and powering the workshops and more importantly the first Spaceport. More generators have been sent to other communities, and similar events then occurred. This led to Theed's dominance being challenged and the war that would become known as the Age of Suffering to begin.

Contact has been made, with the first hyperspace capable transport of the Naboo, with the Republic. Initially this vessel travelled to Yag'Dhul and a message was sent to the Senate. The Ambassadorial party has one objective, gain aid to help win the war; to bring peace to Naboo.

Intent: To bring the planet of Naboo to life! In all seriousness, I would like to see the Republic attempt to expand through Diplomatic means. I say this due to it's military commitments to the top right of the map. Planets like Naboo are in dire need of aid and the Republic should have the resources to help.

In addition it will take some focus off of the war and create new opportunities within the Senate by opening another area of planets for the potential to join the Republic and in turn generate more Senators from Ambassadors; such as my hopeful from Naboo.

With such an array of life and such a distance from the galactic community, Naboo is on the frontier. This then can generate an area of loose law in a world that is at war with itself. It generates opportunities for criminals, mercenaries and even Peacekeepers! To not sound too cliche, the possibilities are nearly endless. This is an extremely interesting time for Naboo. The great Marble towers and flower filled courtyards have barely begun to develop in Theed, let alone anywhere else on the planet. Remove the image of Theed from your mind and focus on a vast sprawling landscape with small population centres scattered around, surrounded by wildlife, an indigenous population and a war with your neighbour.

I don't really see the point of this write-up. It's literally it's Wookieepedia page, reworded slightly.

Thank you for the critique, which bits would you like edited. I followed the template and took what I had learned from the Star Wars Game Galactic Battlegrounds, Star Wars Star fighter. The movies and filled in the gaps with Wookiepedia and some original content.

I'd really like to get this right as I am a huge fan of Naboo, the Naboo and the Gungans.

Since her comment regarded the entire submission seeming unnecessary due to it being too similar to the wookie page, I would suggest taking out large chunks that are directly related to the wookie page and change them to fit more with this site's lore for this timeline. You could incorporate the last Sith war and how that affected the planet, etc.
