DESCRIPTION
It is not uncommon for melee combatants such as Ryu to defend themselves through the means of armour and while Ryu’s is by no means a super advanced piece of kit it does provide him with more far more protection than the more traditional robe. It is also a sign of his heritage and where he comes from with his mask being similar in many ways to that of the T-visor. The armour is made from a various materials including duranium, durasteel and phrik to provide him with a good all round defense. In multiple sections dark red coloured armourweave drapes over the dark metallic armour forming not only a well fitted hood, but a long Kama that begins at the belt and drapes down just past the knees.
The mask itself is made from duranium and is quite thick. The reason being is to hold room for the various techs it is fitted with. Behind the mask is a think elasticated armourweave that stretches over the head of Ryu and fuses with the bodysuit that covers the body. The armour that covers the torso and groin area, excluding the shoulders is made from a mix of durasteel and duranium and is fairly thin, able to withstand only one blaster bolt. The shoulders themselves are made of phrik (this includes the spike) and can protect him from multiple blaster shots and even a strike from a lightsaber. Beneath the armour is skin tight dark armour weave base layer that aids in regulating the bodies temperature, helping blood flow and wicking away sweat.
Unlike the typical armored gauntlets Mandalorians tend to wear Ryu’s have no additional functions and are purely for protection. Made of leather and duranium plating they are both comfortable and protective while not hindering hand flexibility or movement.
While he wears no plating on his upper legs he does have a skin tight armourweave leg suit on that joins to his upper bodysuit while around his waist sits his Kama and other drapes of red armourweave material. The only protection that Ryu has on his legs is his well armored leather and duranium greaves, which extend outwards at the front just past the knee. The sharp metallic extensions to his greaves are used to impale opponents, using powerful knees to the chest or even the head, and are another tool for him to utilize in combat.
The most notable parts of Ryu’s armour are two large sharp phrik spikes extend from each of the shoulder sections of Ryu’s armour. At first glance they appear to be only aesthetic yet they serve as an important part of his armour. Defensively they block lightsaber attacks that would have otherwise beheaded him while offensively he can effectively spear an enemy with a well-timed tackle. Once an opponent is impaled by the shoulder spike a small button on the chest of his armour allows him to detach the spike from the spaulders itself.
It was not by chance that Ryu was able to build this armour, he master saw fit to protect his creation and accepted the creation of this battle armour. Using his position within the Sith he was able to help Ryu acquire rare materials such as Phrik to put to use in key places on the armour.
ARMOUR TECH
Heads Up Display (Located in the Helmet):
The helmet's HUD features information on the surrounding environment. The HUD's data streams are controlled by eye movements and blinking. The HUD also possesses the capability to record both video and audio data, and play them back, as well as upload and transfer it to the HoloNet or other computer terminals.
Rangefinder (Located in the Helmet):
An integrated rangefinder capable of tracking up to 30 targets from a distance of 100 meters, installed into the visor display.
Photosensors (Located in the Helmet):
The helmet's sensors are capable of detecting excessive or sudden changes in light levels, and automatically compensate, allowing Ryu to avoid being blinded by explosions or sudden flashes.
Encrypted Comlink (Located in the Helmet):
Any battlefield veteran knows that secure lines of communication is vital, and Ryu is no exception. As such, his helmet contains a powerful comlink with advanced military grade encryption software, allowing him to communicate feely without being overheard.
Atmospheric Seal (Suit Function):
Combined with the body suit worn underneath his armour plates, his mask is capable of creating a perfect atmospheric seal, creating and maintaining a sealed atmosphere within, allowing him to function in atmospheric conditions that would be considered hostile or outright fatal, such as toxic gas, or even the vacuum of space.
Thermal Insulation (Suit Function):
The bodysuit possesses powerful heating elements, as well as zersium flecks embedded into the body suit underneath, allowing Ryu to deal with extreme cold, such as that of the vacuum of space or arctic conditions. The previously mentioned zersium flecks, and thermal gel also helps negate high to extreme heat levels.
BioMonitor (Suit Function):
This system was originally designed for medical use, but Ryu has integrated it into his armour to monitor his body and life signs. This system is capable of giving him detailed information on his physical condition, all the way down to registering blood toxins, stress hormones, adrenaline, to major trauma. All information is displayed through the HuD in his mask, allowing him to quickly assess the level of injury he has sustained.
Medical Systems (Suit Function):
This complicated system relies heavily upon the BioMonitor to function, as it dispenses adrenaline, bacta, or various stimulants and medical compounds directly into Ryu's blood stream if needed. While this is not going to give him super human abilities, it may help him survive an otherwise fatal injury for a longer period of time.
Environmental Filter & Rebreather System (Suit Function):
The environmental filter system is designed to filter out airborne poisons and contaminants, and drawing in fresh oxygen. However, in places where there is no oxygen or the noxious fumes are too great, the system is capable of scrubbing Ryu's exhaled breath to provide fresh oxygen. For situations that require it he also carries a small oxygen canister that can be attached to the rear of the helmet and will provide 45 minutes of oxygen.
