Mimban, 20:32 Local Time
Some Nasty Swamp

Pala felt like she'd been hit by a speeder truck. An entire fleet, in fact, as her body was wracked with a dull, throbbing ache that ran from her toes to the tip of her lekku. When she finally managed to prey her eyes open, she realized the hard metal surface she was lying on wasn't the floor, it was the wall. Specifically, the wall of her cockpit, which somehow sitting on its side with every warning alarm and diagnostic indicator flashing. The cracked viewing screen was smeared with mud and other debris, obscuring where she was and what she had landed in. As she hauled herself to her feet, using the pilot's chair as a handhold, the memory of how exactly she'd ended up with her ship sideways in the mud came and almost knocked her off her feet.

Karambola Station, she's stopped by for maintenance on her crumbling starship after the hydraulics on her landing gear blew on Sullust. Then those three had shown up, the Theelin and the goon and the skeleton. Ten minutes later she was trying, and failing, to evade blaster fire as she frantically slammed hyperspace coordinates into the navicomputer. She'd been aiming for Tatooine but there was no knowing where she'd actually landed with how wildly she'd been hammering the navicomputer. For all she knew, the Luggabeast might have crashed into the planet just below the station.

"P-PM?" She rasped it out at first but after swallowing harshly she managed to speak above a croak. "PM!?"

She had crashed her ship into an unknown planet, possibly leaving her stranded on some uncharted void, and all she could think of was her tiny traveling companion. She found the will to stand upright and staggered across sparking control consoles and scattered tools to the sliding door, which sat cocked open from the impact of the crash. A faint, crackling chirp of droidspeak echoed from down the hallway which led down into the common area. Pala had a plan, find her friend, find the others, find out where they were, and find a way out.

Hopefully.

"Ouch." Came the gravely voice that belonged to a skeletal face. Kai's head was spinning and he blinked rapidly to clear his shaken vision. The landing had been far from comfortable. Crashed, the voice pierced all disorientation. "Again?" A tone of worry in his voice before he remembered where he was. A chirping sound followed by beeps and a woow caught his attention. It was coming from some kind ofsmall light colored probe droid.

The Grysk had been looking for alcohol in the kitchen area with optimism that the captain was a closet alcoholic. But instead one of the cupboards swung open and emptied its contents onto him violently while he was thrown to the other side of the compartment. Now the young Grysk wanted to know why the ship had crashed in the first place.

"Please don't be a parasite infested planet." He muttered to himself picking up the headphones he had been wearing. As he did so a piece fell off of the set. Kai just stared at it with an expression of disdain. I just bought those too. He sighed and dropped the broken headphones. and made his way towards the cockpit. "Hey! Headtails, your landing technique needs a little work." He was joking of course. Kai hoped there was a reason for the premature landing.

"Buckethead, I'm calling dibs on your armor if you're dead" He added as he barely avoided slipping on a pan of some sort. Kai knew full well the Mandalorian was tougher than that. The crash had shaken the Grysk more than he had thought. Kai wondered if he had a concussion. When he got to the cockpit the door was partially open. "PM? I don't know what time it is here. It might bee AM." His expression clearly confused until the weird looking probe droid bumped into him. "Whatthe, oh... that's PM."

She could not figure out what to make of Kai. It was like trying to read a book through charcoal smoke. It was a welcome change, certainly intriguing, but could be masking something dangerous. However she did not need the force to understand him now. Numa awoke to the sting of of liquor filling her sinuses, and shot upright in a fit of gags and heaves.

PM-1 had been doing its best to liberate the Theelin woman, who had so nobly labored beside it to prevent this very disaster; and was now buried in the freighter’s thick underbelly of wires. A moment after Kai interrupted his search PM-1 felt the hard impact of a theelin shaped skull on his undercarriage .

“GAAACK! Merciful... “ She locked eyes with Kai, and took another whiff of the acrid, booze drenched air. Waves of ire spilled out from her as she scrambled to her feet while nursing an already impressive bruise.

“Were you driving like THAT? Where are we? What have you done?!” Numa wasn’t sure she cared if her frustration was misplaced. There could not possibly have ever been a less conventional step in the trails for knighthood as what she had agreed to. “Depend on others, and find your home.” Surely her master could not have foreseen the level of disaster this had become in such a short period. She took a few quick breaths, and reached out more deliberately with her feelings, hoping to bring any order to what was undeniably the most chaos she had been aparty to in a decade.

“Is Pala alright? Where’s the soldier, can we send him topside to scout?”

Cav had some terrible experiences in his life, and this quickly began to rate pretty high up there. He groaned as he came to, rubbing his head through the helmet. He could feel himself bleeding, the liquid sliding down the side of his face. However, he wouldn’t take the helmet off - it wasn’t bad enough to where he felt as if he were dying. His entire body was sore, and he had been tossed around from the impact.

Almost immediately, he could hear a series of annoying voices. First it was the pilot screeching about some droid, then it was the skeleton complaining about something and making a comment Cav chose to ignore, and it was all topped off with the theelin who sounded like she just inhaled a bunch of spice. As she asked her last question, Cav’s jaw tightened.

“The soldier isn’t your little patsy to boss around, girl,” He growled as he hoisted himself up to his feet to, funnily enough, do just as she had suggested. Cav walked past the group, infuriated at the turn of events. They had left in a rush before the repairs were complete - the station was beginning to crack down on them. He had no idea where they were, and judging by the mood of the group, neither did anyone else.

Cav pushed past the door and stepped out, his boots immediately sinking. It was then that he realized they had crashed into a swamp, half the ship sinking slightly. Thankfully it was shallow so the ship would be salvageable, but it would be quite a feat.

He looked around, trying to imagine what planet this could be. They had set off towards Tatooine, but this was very much not the desert planet. They had jerked out of hyperspace and crash landed, so they could be anywhere in the galaxy at this point.

“Hello?” He called out, looking around. There was no response, and he began to worry that there was no civilization around.

The cacophony of groans, snappish comments, and shouts that rang up from the ship told Pala that everyone else was, at the very least, alive. When Pala finally managed to climb out of the cockpit and into the crooked hallway she found a scene that might have been funny if she wasn't standing inside her own crashed ship. Numa was tangled in a mess of wires down the hall, with PM limping on a broken servo-leg as he tried ineffectually to free her. When the skeleton rounded the corner Numa took a PM to the skull, and vice versa, causing the droid to stagger back and limp over to his captain chirping like an excited bird.

"The security forces shooting at me kind of made it difficult!" She barked loudly at no one in particular, since everyone seemed to think they could have landed her ship in this quagmire perfectly. Pala scooped up her injured droid like a frightened pet, stroking his chassis as she muscled past towards the Theelin.

"Maybe if you hadn't called down the entire station on my head I would have had a working ship to fly."
She grumbled and growled as she yanked Numa free from the wires, snapping several from the wall. The ship was already fried, what else could she do to it now?

"And where is that chrome-domed, droid-blasting e chu ta? Hmm? Where's he scampered off to? I swear if he's farked off into the wild I'm going to hunt him down and...and...and I don't know what, but he won't like it!" She could barely think straight, she was a mix of confused, frustrated, and nauseous.

The ivory like digits plunged into the baggy pockets of the Grysk. "Hmm...where'd they go?" He mumbled to himself and bowed his head as if trying to focus on feeling what he might be holding. The contents jingled and rustled until finally he pulled out a small bottle with pills. "There we go!" he said and promptly popped the top.

Putting a few of the pills in his hand he tossed them into his grinning mouth before chasing it with a small shot from his flask. "Aaaah. I can't wait for ten minutes from now." Looking over at the Theelin he held out the bottle of pills as an offer. He shook the bottle a little so the pills inside would rattle as if he were tempting a child. They were only over the counter pain medication but Kai preferred to avoid having to deal with any headache or soreness for the time being.

Regardless of what the Theelin, Kai would follow after the Mandalorian. Once he stepped outside into the swamp he felt the cool enveloping sensation around his feet. He looked down at the ground as if it had just committed a terrible offense then his expression relaxed. Whatever. I just hope I don't get any toe fungus from this. Gross.

This time the dark sider did not reach into his pockets. Instead he pulled his backpack around and pulled out his personav. If the planet had civilization and cross-galactic communication capabilities then they would know where they were.

As his finger tapped casually he felt someone close to him. Someone different than the Mandalorian. You're going to catch some kind of parasite. A feminine voice said inside his head. "Shut up." He said with a tone as if he were responding to a friend's teasing.

Only after he said it did Kai realize that the Mandalorian could have taken it as a flippant response to his own open ended greeting. "Oh...um...we're on..." He turned his attention back towards the personav hoping that maybe giving some helpful information might overshadow the unintentional rudeness. "...Circarpous V." Kai had never heard of the planet before. Meanwhile the frustrated voice of the twi'lek captain could be heard expressing herself without reservation.

The collective frustration was becoming a bit overwhelming. In no way could this have been what Master Zapan foresaw when he told her to go out and have experiences with strangers, but somehow his knowing smile crept into her mind. This was just too perfect. As Pala began extracting her from the tendrils wire, Numa began to snicker, and finally, cackle with laughter. This only made Pala’s job more difficult, but it was truly all she could do to keep from collapsing back into the ship. She could barely speak, and instead just waved a frantic hand at them both to let her nurse her splitting sides.

After a little scrutiny, Numa accepted what she recognized as bactu-profin from Kai, offering a decent enough “thanks” given their circumstance. However, as soon as he was well out of earshot she spun on Pala and PM.

I don’t care for him. Either of them really. Every act of pedestrian decency he perpetrates makes me like him less, and I’m not sure why.” As she spoke, Numa had presumptively approached PM-1, and had begun assessing him for damage in an oddly clinical, yet tender fashion. It occurred to her this was the most sincere, and direct she had been with anyone so far on this catastrophe of freighter. This felt like progress, even if it was a bit catty.

I don’t suppose either of you have had a minute to run a diagnostic yet? Or at least activists a distress beacon?” Numa was surprising herself. This crisis was certainly opening her up, but not in a way she may have liked. She turned to Pala and was suddenly aware of the weight this disaster was having on her. This was it an inconvenience but a nightmare, and if Numa had learned anything certai about this Twi’lek so far, it was her love for the ship.

Numa straitened up and and extended a compassionate smile. “How can I be of most use... Captain?”

Cav was unconcerned and oblivious to the musings of whiny and haughty women that no doubt made many baseless promises of harming him. He had more important things to worry about like why the forest outside seemed so eerily quiet. He tried to block out the captain and others complaining, focusing on the lack of the normal ambient sounds that should fill up the surroundings.

Of course, the damn grim reaper had to parade out then and talk to himself. For a moment, Cav thought he had told him to shut up, and he slowly turned to look at him. The man appeared to look slightly flustered and give the planet’s name. It wasn’t one Cav was familiar with, but the name alone didn’t help things.

“We’re not alone,” He grumbled under his breath, activating his jump boots to leap across the swamp to nearby solid and dry land. Cav didn’t look back, walking towards the surrounding forests. He didn’t call out this time, feeling uneasy.

There were rustling noises around him, and he ducked to get behind a tree. There was no doubt that an aircraft crashing into the middle of nowhere would attract nearby critters, but he had no idea what they’d be up against. As he took a few more steps, he could see massive spider webs. One of them had a woodland creature stuck in it, its head missing.

Cav paused there, not at all liking where this was going.

Back near the ship, there would be more rustling and shuffling noises in the forestry that surrounded where the ship had landed. If the people inside didn’t quiet down, they wouldn’t be able to hear the advance of critters slowly approaching the ship from all sides.

As Numa and the skeleton found places to sit in the tilted ship, Pala decided to attend to PM, since that at least was something she could fix in the moment. The primary knee servos in his left leg had been crushed, along with a good portion of his left leg. Pala didn't have the patience to go rooting through her ship for the spare 4EY parts she kept for situations like this, so she opted to just strip the dented plating and weld the broken joint in a bent position. He wouldn't be able to bend his leg, but it still worked at the hip and toes so the little droid could still be mobile. After testing the weight limit of this temporary fix, PM turned to his friend and chirped in droidspeak to her.

"Anytime," Pala leaned forward to rest her head on the droid's, taking some solace in his presence. "Anytime..."

It was at this point that the other two cut in the skeleton with a rather vague idea of where they might be, which most likely weren't accurate but his trying to help didn't hurt. Numa, on the other hand, approached the Twi'lek and her droid, both inspecting the damage and asking about the status of the ship.

"No, I haven't." Pala's temper significantly cooled with PM in better condition and at least two of her three crewmates trying to help. "Take PM, his scanners can run a full diagnostic of the ship while I get-"

A sudden hiss and rush of air from outside caught Pala off guard. The buckethead.

"E chu ta." She grumbled and handed PM to Numa like the droid was a housepet as she marched to the open side hatch the mercenary had used to get outside. She'd been winding up for the mother of all Pala-rants when she spotted the Mandalorian crouched in the bushes by the edge of the woodline. He wasn't trying to run away or hide, so what was he doing?

If Pala had still be holding PM, she might have been there when his sonar went off and started registering multiple entities moving into the area...

The sudden movement of the Mandalorian drew Kai's attention. An expression of interest showed as the Grysk's eyes widened a little. He looked down at his own feet still stuck in the mud then to the more solid land where Cavalry had landed. He knew he could probably make it but then also knew that would probably just cause questions to arise. "Aww." He grumbled and slogged through more of the mud.

As he made his way towards the closest bit of dry land he quickly got over the trivial inconvenience. Kai's eyes stared out into the wilderness with a more serious expression. The Mandalorian had moved away and the Captain along with the oddball Theelin were still in the ship. He pulled out a tin with hand rolled cigaras before promptly lighting it up.

When his eyes rose from the bright flame and embers he saw some gleam through the bushes. It was dark, like pearls of obsidian. Then the black objects moved together causing Kai to drop his recently lit cigara to the ground. It turns out they were the dozen eyes of a lunging spider and the dark sider acted relatively appropriately. The spider took a slow scuttle crawl forth from the swamp bush it had been residing it, staring at the Grysk with predatory intent. "Karaba-" But he didn't get to finish his curse since it jumped at him.

It tackled him to the ground. Its legs landed on either side of him, pinning him while hot mandibles snapped at his neck. Kai's head strained to get as far away but since it was connected to his body he was only able to barley avoid back and forth. Two hands held onto the warm fang like face. "I swear you...graah....bite me I'll bite you...mmthrfggin... right back you!" His legs came up, trying to kick and knee the arachnid or make it stop long enough for him to do something more substantial like draw a weapon.

Numa accepted PM into her arms like an infant, with the engine room as a nursery.

Alright my little friend, you work out whether we can get off the ground. I’ll check the seals for-

Before she could finish, PM-1’s proximity alarms went wild. The sirens rattled her ears, and Numa yelped. It took her a moment to determine what exactly was happening, but instinct took over once she did. Her feelings reached out beyond the mangled hull and immediately recoiled at the dozen hungry locals swarming their position. She set the wailing droid down and ran for the nearest hatch, elbowing her way out beside Pala. PM’s frantic warning still rang from within.

Ugh, Captain, I think we may have a hostile situation... yeah, like that

It was at that moment Numa witnessed her skeletal associate get mauled. Her hand impulsively shot forward, intending to lift the multi legged creature clear, but then remembered her mixed company, and the reason she was traveling with them. This was the wrong time to lay low, but she had to try ad stretch it a little thinner at least. First she had to come up with an excuse for her dramatically outstretched arm.

uuuhh...Oh NO! Kai! I am... displeased at your suffering!

Not her best. Worse yet, there was no relating to these creatures, they were ravenous, and even a passing attempt to empathize clouded her mind with hostility. This was what they referred to in the temple, as an “old school” situation. Numa thrust a and into her satchel, and drew it back out with a stun baton in tow. She fell into a familiar stance and motioned or Pala to stand clear.

Then a thick clump of mucus like web stuck Numa’s left arm, and pinned it to her side, nearly knocking her over, as the latest assailant begun to scuttle over the other side of the mud soaked freighter.

Aw kriff.

OoC: SOO sorry for the delay!

Cav looked back as the skeleton plodded loudly through the swamp, grimacing beneath the helmet. He shook his head and turned to look ahead, and he began to see some movements almost at once. He was already backed up by near the edge of the dry land when the skeleton caught up and the black shapes began to scurry forward.

Within moments, one of the spiders tackled the man. Cav looked over and was able to discern that it was a giant spider. He felt a cold chill run down his spine - for how brave he was about most things, there were few things in the galaxy that bothered him more than spiders.

He quickly drew out his blaster, deciding that Kai’s yelling was actually more grating than the spiders. Cav fired a few times into the spider, resulting in a sick squelch as the thing exploded above Kai and splattered him with its guts.

Cav looked back at the small army of spiders coming their way. He backed up a bit more, still standing next to Kai’s guts-covered form. He raised up his wrist and pointed it ahead, unleashing a jet of flames. Cav slowly panned his wrist to unleash the flamethrower and keep the creatures at bay. He could hear screeching and squealing, the beasts either melting or scuttling backwards from the brightness and the heat.

“Find a path out!” He called out to the skeleton and anyone that could hear him. Of course, he had no idea that the ladies back on the ship had their own mess to deal with. He couldn't keep the spiders at bay for long and they showed little signs of slowing down.

Once she set PM down, the little droid immediately tried to leap back into her arms, and failing that, scuttled after her trailing warnings and obscenities in droidpspeak as his alarm died down. When both reached Pala, the captain barely had time to react to either the rough elbowing or PM tugging at her pant leg like a needy child before the skeleton got jumped by some kind of giant spider. The Mandalorian was quick to take out the creature with a blaster bolt, and Numa was quick to...what was she even doing. She reached out like she was trying to pull Kai out of the mud then started trying to sound (unconvincingly) like she was sympathetic to his pain.

At least she got out and prepared to fend the creatures off with a stun baton, an act that got her left arm pinned to her side but still, it was the thought that counted. As the offending spiderling closed in on them both, Pala drew and fired her blaster, hitting the creature dead on and painting part of her ship with its innards.

"PM," She climbed fully onto the side of her ship with her pistol drawn. "Seal the hatch and see if you can't get the distress signal working. We'll hold off these...big bug things."

She didn't wait for the droid's response before kicking the lid shut behind her. Getting a good survey of the land, she saw well over a dozen skittering spiders making their way across the mud towards the ship. She didn't have an exact body count, but when it came to dog-sized spiders any number above zero was far, far too many. Pala aimed to fire at the small mob approaching the merc and the bonehead, only to have another spider lunge at her from behind, sending them both sprawling and sliding down the side of the mud-caked ship.

"KRIFF KRIFF KRIFF KRIFF!!" Pala landed on her back in the mud, the spiderling landing on its back nearby with its many legs flailing in the air as it tried to right itself.

What did that Theelin just say? He thought the split second before the spider ontop of him exploded. The Grysk stopped moving or struggling and just stared blankly up at the sky. Thanks...puh he spat out some off the spider that had gotten into his mouth.

After getting up he flicked his hands free of some more blood. Kai prefered to not have his grip slippery. Another spider came scuttling down a tree, closing in to take its own shot at Kai. Forgetting about his drenched frontside. "More than four limbs is just excessive." He said aloud as he unholstered his blaster pistol. Once, twice, he fired into the nearest one. A second soon followed and Kai got the idea that there was going to be more.

For now it seemed the way back to the ship was mostly clear of arachnids. Even if there were more, what other option was there? He had no idea where there was any safe haven from the natural predators of the planet. Looking behind himself the Legionnaire saw more of the creepy crawlers around, swarming here and there. "Back to the ship. This way!" He said to the mandalorian.

Her arm strained against its goopy prison, but there was no opportunity to dwell on it. Pala wen tumbling past her in the mud, and a creepy crawler fell upside down at her feet. It’s legs flailed, and just as it was about to right itself, Numa snapped a hard kick int its left most collection of eyes sending it twirling back over onto its back. Without any pause she frantically followed through by jabbing her stun baton downward into the spider’s abdomen. After some ugly screaming and a few twitches, it’s legs curled in on themselves and it lay motionless, save for the occasional spasm.

The cries of their little scouting party reached her ears, and it occurred to her they were right. The ship was all they had, upright or not: if they were going to defend something, that was it. She turned around and looked took a good look at this pitiful sanctuary of theirs from the outside. Well... at least it was only a third buried in the mud. Engines still exposed, hull in tact; with a few days and an excavators might fly again. Until then, there was at least one bit of hope rising above the swamp.

GET TO THE TURRET!” Numa hollered across the marsh, only to turn around and watch the entry hatch disappeared under three more spiders. She exhaled sharply through her nose, and dropped back into a familiar one handed form stance. “Guess I’ll clear the way...

She gave the spider next to her a little tap to keep it down, then launched. Her hooves padded the mud beneath them, and as she closed the spiders all reared. The first went high, so she went low. Skidding on her knees she thrust upward and struck its belly with her baton. It yelped and fell motionless in her wake. The second and third came in together. She swung her baton into ones face, the other scored a vicious slice down her back, but tore through its own web in the process. Numa howled as she spun back on it, thrusting her newly freed hand palm first under its mandible and sending the pitiful bug flying through the air with an eruption of force.

Hopefully the others were on their way.

Cav managed to put the initial wave at bay, and he began to step backwards when he heard the skeleton shout to head back to the ship. That was when his head snapped towards the man, “Back to the ship that’s stuck and can’t go anywhere right now, you kriffing bantha?!” He shouted at the top of his lungs, turning to look back at the situation near the ship, “Find a path towards some god damned civilization on Circarpous V!” He quipped back how the skeleton had tried to helpfully tell him what planet they were on.

Unsurprisingly, the women back at the ship were fending off against the spiders as well. It would be moments before they overtook the ship entirely, and their combined weight would probably cause it to sink even deeper into the muck. Cav despised this, but he knew he couldn’t get that ship out and operational by himself.

“Kriff,” He growled under his breath as he activated his jetpack and cleared the gunk between them. He landed with a squelch near the two women, activating his flamethrower to clear out the spiders there. It was clear he was running low on fuel and would only be able to cough up smoke from here on out.

“We can’t stay here! We have to come back to secure the ship later!” He shouted to the women as he turned to look at the Theelin, “I don’t want to hear any bitching from either of you,” He growled as he quickly slid a hand around the Theelin’s waist. He hoisted the Twi’lek up to her feet and did the same to her.

If they protested too much, he would leave them. However, if they cooperated, he would they use the jetpack to fly them all over the swamp and above the waves of spiders. The spiders were all going towards the ship, and this meant that the clearing on the edge of the swamp was clear now. They only had a moment to make a beeline through the forest and hopefully find a temporary shelter and make a gameplan to reclaim the ship. Cav would drop the ladies off near the edge and begin to make a break for it.

Pala was glad for the assist from Numa, as it gave her a chance to shake the mud and confusion from herself as she stood upright in the muck and tried to get her bearings. There were almost twenty spiders skittering across the mud and the hull of her ship, closing in on the scattered remnants of her...passengers? They sure as kriff weren't her willing crew. In either case, they were all she had to defend her ship and hold off these monsters.

As Pala prepared to open up on the spiders again, the mercenary landed in their midst with a jetpack and unleashed a brief torrent of fire from the his gauntlet. While this gesture was appreciated, what followed next was less so. In a flurry of movement and some very insulting comments, the mercenary grabbed Pala and Numa by the waist and sent them hurtling across the swamp to a clearing by the wood. Between the odd grab, the insult, and the suddenness of the launch, Pala was not ready for her landing and ended up tumbling to the dirt once she felt ground underneath her.

While the merc seemed content to drop and run, Pala at least spared a thought for Kai, who had been left standing where the merc had landed. She intended to make a fighting retreat, blasting away at spiders and hopefully either clearing more of a path, or drawing them away from Kai. She accomplished neither, and instead narrowly ducked under a flying spiderling as it tried to pounce on her again.

"KAI, RUN!!" Was all she managed to get out before she had to book it into the treeline.

Kai heard a yell about a turret. He tried to slog through the mud, circling around on the drier parts of land. He heard the Mandalorian curse at him. His hands held a vibro-knife and his blaster pistol but he sheathed the blade aggressivly though he doubted Cav would see it since he was occupied with the arachnids and getting the two women away from the stuck ship.

I already thought of that. I don't think we are lucky enough to have crashed near any town. There's a forest of spiders and... He checked the personav again. "...crap, there's a town not to far actually. Of course it only loads settlements now. Make me look like a dumbass, universe. He grumbled to himself and kept the personav out this time.

"It says we should-." He said just in time to see the armored warrior blast off carrying the captain and the weird girl. "...go...this.....way." His voice trailed off and got quieter as he also realized that while the trio had been attracting the most attention Kai was now standing still and was much closer to many of the spiders.

The Twi'lek yelled at him to run but he stood there and pointed in a different direction. "NO YOU!" He said and turned to start heading towards the town he had on his navigation device. It was not going to be a quick jog. It was still twelve kilometers away. There was no telling what other dangers were waiting. Not to mention the swampy environment would slow anybody down on foot. He hollered back after he got up to running speed. "This way!" If they followed they would be able to keep him in sight.

Numa felt a cold limb wrap around her waist, and swung wildly with her club. Thankfully the sudden yank of being raised from the mud threw her attack left, traveling a few centimeters in front of the tell-tale t visor of her un-invited escort. After that she offered only a pouty, ungrateful squirm in thanks, before being forced to rag doll the few meters to temporary safety.

With little control over her flight pattern, the landing was just as messing, collapsing into sod with a sickening squish, She was in no position to complain however; a quick glance over her shoulder showed another dozen crawlers crest the ship as if it were no more than a large ball of dung. Run indeed.

Once her momentum picked up, her long legs and hooves made her relatively effective at navigating the terrain. As she closed on the Grysk, she repelled another ambush with heavy hammer blow, laying the spider flat. Numa vaulted the stunned carapace and landed right behind her skeletal companion, adjusting her stride and jutting her gut and mud drenched face over his shoulder to get a clear peak at the personav.

You had it on power save mode, you ought to clean out your eye sockets. Wait...is that a...?

A river. Right in front of the encampment, a few hundred meters out, was a single, wide, river.

Pala had barely started running before Numa took off after Kai, breaking through the thick forest to reach the skeleton's position. She had hoped the group would be sticking together through this nightmare, but the spiders were already too thick to keep up with the surprisingly agile Theelin and the bonehead. Not to mention the forest seemed far too dangerous to make another leap up through or down into using the merc's jetpack. Assuming he still had fuel left in the tank, that thing on his back didn't look like it had a high capacity.

"Oh for Kriff's-" Right, spiders, no time for ranting and raving just yet. Instead now was the time for running with the alien creatures hot on her heels. If the mercenary was following her, she didn't notice, she was too busy trying not to get eaten by hostile wildlife. The path she was taking was little more than a swampy wild bramble, filled with thorny bushed, twisting roots, and thick mud. She was just barely able to keep ahead of the spiders, who nipped at her heels every time she slowed down. Which was probably why she didn't see the steep ledge until it was too late.

This wasn't a cliff by any means, just a small hill-like ridge overlooking a little valley that led down to a large river. It certainly didn't feel like a short fall when Pala tumbled down the incline to the edge of the water, landing on her back in a sprawling heap, half buried in mud. Thankfully, the spiders didn't seem keen on following her down into the wet and muddy valley.
