Military Reserve

So, I was thinking of making an out-of-work spacer/gunslinger type who would go around doing a bit of everything to make enough credits to survive -mercenary work, bounty hunting, smuggling, some legit business, etc. - and I was wondering if he could either have an open-ended contract with the Republic (who he supports) or be a part of the GADF Military Reserve, so that he could take part in military-type threads.

The Galactic Alliance and the New Republic are basically interchangeable. After the Alliance to Restore the Republic (also known as the Rebel Alliance) defeated the Galactic Empire, they formed the New Republic. So... yeah. Interchangeable.
