Ender shook his arms against the restraint, pulling against them hard enough that the veins in his arms became pronounced and nearly popped from the effort. When the straps didn't give, he fell back down against the table before looking over to Talak, "I don't remember!" When he glanced back up at the machine, he only caught flashes of his previous memories, the sound of machinery squealing, flesh being ripped and scientists speaking over and discussing notes. A heavy sweat started from Ender, never wanting to relive the experience again.

The door suddenly slid open, the Scientist walking in with her arms clasped behind her back in their usual fashion. "Do you remember this place, Ender? We made very cherished memories here." She walked over to his table, her fingers dragging along his arm, "This is where we found out what flowed through your veins. After of course, a few nuts were cracked in order to make it happen. Look how much you've grown now, I wish to see this evolution first hand." She sat in a rolling chair beside the table, examing Ender for a moment after her words before rolling over to Talak.

"And you brought a friend. A sort of gift for our reunion I assume. I happily accept." Ender struggled against the restraints once more, "You're not real." The woman laughed, it was void of humor and something that resembled a predator watching their prey struggle before its life ebbed away. "Oh, but I'm very much real aren't I? I'm very much real to you and even after all this time I still occupy a region of your mind that you just can't let go of." She stood up from the chair before walking over to Ender and standing over him, "We will continue our work and we will discover what makes your kind tick."

The Scientist walked over to a console, "From what I recall, your pain tolerance was quite high before you broke. Let's find out if it's the same for you and your friend." She studied the console for a minute before smiling and pressing a button, one of the saws connected to the machines above the pair starting as they whirred loudly. "Do you think Talak will find the pain real just as you remember?" The saw inched closer and closer to the both of them, it aiming near their heart and there was no indication that this wasn't real at all.

Talak could tell himself that this wasn't real all he wanted, but he had a feeling that the pain was going to feel very real, and the fear was very real. That fear should have empowered the darkness within him, but again he couldn't find the Force making even the faintest response to his calls. Was this the way of the dark side? Promising him salvation but in his most dire moment it betrayed him? Was he reading into things too much?

Even that thought was laced with primal anger, and he ripped against the restraints until they dug into his wrist, leaving a mix of white and red patches across his skin.

Do your worst, but when I'm out of here, I'm going to rip your throat open with my fingernails, he growled. There was a transition this brought in him. It brought him back to much darker times that had been designed to bring the darkness out in him, and they did the same again now.

She wasn't going to kill them. He'd seen this before, which meant he would endure some horrid agony. He would cocoon himself in the darkness to survive, and when it was done he would find a way to escape and he would rip her to shreds. @Orbit

Ender was just like Talak, thrashing wildly against the restraints enough to where it tore across his skin. He smacked his head hard against the back of the table, his eyes unable to focus on the saw that was lowering little by little. The memories of what was happening were blocked from his head for so long but as he stared at the machine, they came swelling back in full force. The pain was something that couldn't be described, it could only be experienced to fully understand it and Ender knew that Talak was about to experience it as well. He tried everything to break out but the restraints just seemed to mock him as they groaned with his movements.

The Scientist walked around the console, an amused chuckle coming out of her as she heard Talak's threats. When she arrived by Ender's head, she bent down slightly as her head blocked the light fixture from above. "You truly don't remember anything?" She stood back up before placing one hand on the machine, "The Sith are fools, your kind will not be tolerated anymore by us." The saw was only a few centimeters from his chest and before it connected, his eyes stared right into the woman. "I wish I could have done this in person but leaving you both frothing and begging for death will have to do instead."

Until the saw touched his skin, it all came back to Ender right at that moment. The days he had spent going through the rigorous testing because of the vile Scientist. He remembered how he escaped too but it would hurt.

The saw had finally reached its mark, a few inches left of their heart for the both of them, it easily slicing through both their skin, flesh, and muscle like paper. It pushed forward regardless of what was in front of it, mincing everything in its path. In the beginning, he stared into her eyes but that only lasted a second before the pain overtook him. The scream of pain that erupted from him was mixed with something else entirely; hate for the woman that was so pure it couldn't be expressed into full words, only echoed in a scream that contained the agony of what she caused to him.

The scream continued and it had a tangible effect, the machinery denting and sparking as the blades both stopped cutting into their skin and retreated backward. The lights flickered on and off and everything shook like an earthquake. After a few more seconds of it, the lights above exploded as did other things in the office, hearing the clatter of items as everything was plunged into darkness. After a moment or two, the emergency lights came on, flooding the room in red light and illuminating it enough to be able to see. The room was completely quiet except for the occasional spark from some medical equipment.

Ender felt drained and he just rolled to his left and found the restraints undone and making him collapse onto the tile ground with a thud. He let out a groan before glancing around, finding Imperial soldiers on the ground or unconscious. That reminded him of Talak and he turned his head toward where his friend laid, smoke and red lights not making it entirely to easy to see. "Are you alive?"

Talak felt the saw start to cut into his skin and it was horrible agony. Unspeakable pain that made him cry out. He squirmed on the table to try to get away from the pain, and there was no describing the unspeakable hatred and enmity he felt.

It only took a few moments before it subsided. The pain lingered, but the imminent "death" was gone. He decided that he didn't like being in other people's minds where he didn't have control. He wondered if this was what it was like when he tormented others inside their minds. He almost had to feel some pity and regret about it were he not currently so consumed with rage.

When he rolled off the table, blood poured onto the ground.

Your mind kriffing sucks, he spat. It wasn't Enders fault, but Talak was mad. He was filled with hate and wanting revenge.

Where is she... I want to cut her in half with her own saw, he said, pushing himself up. He didn't know how this place worked, but he knew the dark side was powerful, and even in here it might be able to pierce whatever prison held them.

"You don't think I kriffing know that?" Ender asked rhetorically back as he used the nearby table as a support to lift himself up. The machinery around them still sparked and had smoke spilling out of it. He covered his mouth as he tried to wave some of it away before taking a careful step forward. The wound on his chest stung, it somewhat deep enough where it continually bled but not enough where it would kill him outright in a few minutes. "I don't know where she is." Ender glanced around the floor, attempting to find any sign.

When stepped past his table he found her, a blood trail leading to as she sat leaning against the wall. Various utensils were protruding out of her body, the saw halfway through her shoulder, a scalpel sticking out from her arm. It was gruesome and the Scientist hiccuped as blood poured out her mouth with the rest of her coat turning red slowly. Despite this, she smiled at the two of them. Ender touched Talak's shoulder,
"Let's just get out of here." He didn't want to spend another minute in this place.

Ender exited out of the room and went down the hall, the metal room completely transforming back into the old traditional house style when they first arrived. He made to walk along the rug to quiet his footsteps but they only go so far until two doors opened at the end of their hallway, The Arcanist, and The Legionnaire stepping out with their lightsabers out. Ender was in no mood and in no condition to fight.
"Just kriffing run!" He didn't care if it made him look like a coward, he'd rather look like one then not escape from his own internal hell.

Talak looked down at the woman, her body now mutilated, and it really was only regret that he wasn't the one that had been able to do it. Was murdering a mental projection really murder? Even if it was, did he care? No, he murdered real people like this without remorse.

He turned to the side as they headed for the hall and he noticed a crack in the floor. It was ever-widening, and he wanted to investigate, but he wasn't going to get separated from Ender in here.

With the appearance of the warriors at the end of the hall, Talak had no objections. Fighting them clearly hadn't worked, so perhaps running was their best option. He turned, and that was when he noticed the next crack. This time growing wider and running into the ceiling. Everything here seemed to be opening up in holes and collapsing around them.

A chunk of wood flung down and struck Talak in the head as the building collapsed, he fell unconscious. But not unconscious. Suddenly he was sprawled out on the ground, his lightsaber next to him, and Ender as well. The day was hot, and his clothes seemed to almost burn into his body.

Wait... he muttered, pushing to sit up and trying to reconcile that they were out. The dream - or whatever it was - seemed to collapse with the death of the woman. Talak had his own theories on what that might mean, but he wasn't sure he cared right now. He'd never been so happy to be back in his own body and mind again. He may have been conflicted and fractured in his own mind, but it was his mind.

The two entities chased right behind them while they ran for their life. Even as pain shot through him with every step, Ender kept running down the hallway that seemed to never end. But something changed, cracks started to appear along the wall and the floor. It shook once more like an earthquake and made Ender stumble and fall down. When he flipped around, the Legionnaire leaped through the air, his lightsaber blades ignited as one of them was aimed right for the heart. He put up his hand and right when the Legionnaire was about to make it, the roof above collapsed on top of both of them.

Ender woke up with a jolt, inhaling a huge gulp of air like he had been underwater for minutes. He rolled over to his side, bile coming out as he coughed it up into some nearby bushes. When he went onto his stomach, Talak would be able to see the black veins slowly retracting from his eyes and returning to normal color. His chest rose and fell as he still tried to collect his breath and appreciating the real sun touching his skin. "Talak... Thank you." Ender wouldn't have gotten up to look at him but his limbs felt dead and just laying there was a nice alternative.

"I remember everything now. I remember what she did." It reminded him of his arm and Ender glanced down, finding the saber burns there and very real. He let out a groan, having noticed it making the pain from it apparent now. When he had been infected, he remembered the great lengths he went to stay awake. He stood up, offering his good arm to Talak to help him up, "Can you please tell me you have bacta for my arm on your ship." That would be the greatest thing he could ask for at the moment... and some fresh clothes probably.

Talak felt exhausted, which meant he could only imagine how Ender felt. That was not an experience he was excited to repeat again. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a heavy breath.

Yeah, he said as Ender thanked him. He could only imagine what it had been like to be trapped in there for weeks. And the torment he had endured as a child. It didn't seem that he had remembered most of it until now. Maybe that was what this was all about: understanding himself better so he could move forward.

He took the offered hand and pointed back to his ship. Of course, come on, he said before pausing and looking at the lightsabers he had slashed up in their fight.

Sorry about the sabers, he said with a shrug. They were easily reparable, and it was a small price to pay for what had happened. The injuries Ender had suffered were worse.

Do you feel better now that you remember? he asked as he started to head back to his ship. He could only imagine that knowing what had happened was probably a mixed feeling. @Orbit

Ender sighed gleefully when he heard that Talak did indeed have bacta. His arm burned like all hell, even when he twisted it it felt like his skin was being ripped from the effort. He walked side by side with the Sith, paying extra attention to his arm as they made their way to his relief. When Talak pointed out the sabers, he glanced at his weapon but Ender just shrugged, "Better that then one of us" They were easily repairable, his lightsaber would just have its own scar like him.

Talak asked if he felt better and he didn't know how to answer for a moment. The sickness was gone at least and he was himself but he remembered everything from his past. "No, but at least I can remember it now." When the hanger door dropped down and they entered into the ship, Ender immediately made his way to a table before plopping himself down in a chair. It wasn't his ship so he didn't know where the medical supplies were. Either way, he wouldn't some time to think in his own head for once.

When Talak came back with the supplies, he would glance over at him before speaking, "I remember where the house is, the exact spot." It was engraved into his head from his own doing and he could never forget it again. Since he remembered, there were a lot of questions, especially about the Scientist when he was younger. "I know you saw the markings. She had an Imperial symbol on her shoulder." Ender paused for a moment before adding on, "She's still alive. I can feel it."

Talak entered onto the ship, and made his way toward the room he planned to make into a full medbay eventually. He grabbed the gear and came back to the main room as Ender kept speaking.

Talalk frowned as he pulled out the bacta patches and some sutures.

Imperials? I dunno, they're all gone, he said skeptically as he claimed she was still alive. It wasn't the oddest thing ever, but he also knew that not trusting your feelings was dangerous. If Ender could feel that she was alive it was... possible.

Are you gonna go find her? he asked, curious to find out where things were going to go from here. He knew the darkness this path could lead to, but he also knew that if he were in the same boat he would have wanted to do the same.

Before they could keep speaking, Artee came floating down from the cockpit area.

Oh, master, we have a guest! Oh, he looks like he's not doing very well. You certainly have been bringing more people aboard recently. First...

Artee! he snapped, and the droid looked at him confused. The droid would happily talk and talk and talk.

Very well, he said, head spinning around as he floated over. You certainly have enough experience patching yourself up, you shouldn't have any trouble with him, he said. I am Artee, and who might you be? he asked.

Talak just looked at Ender and shrugged. The little droid was eccentric, but he was one of Talak's only companions.

Talak didn't seem to believe it but Ender knew what he saw. That symbol couldn't be mistaken for anything else. His friend started to apply the bacta toward his arm and he thanked him for the reprieve. He may have been somewhat crazy for a few days but he wasn't crazy enough to imagine the scientist and the Imperial guards. "Yes, I am. I have a job to finish." They couldn't speak more before a droid interrupted them.

"Ender." He replied back to the droid before arching an eyebrow at Talak, "And who have you been inviting on the ship?" The two of them were close but still distant in some ways. Talak came her to help Ender in the first place but they didn't know anything about each other, not really at least.

While he teased his friend about the droid's comment, he just shook his head before leaning forward to gaze at Talak, "I need to find the woman. I know you've already helped me in a way that I can never repay but I'm asking for your help again." He could have done this alone but then again he almost killed himself and having a partner wasn't something to brush off lightly if Talak still wanted to help.

Ender seemed certain of what he knew, and Talak... well, he was hesitant to argue. Skeptical or not, he'd chased down thinner leads before. Moreover, he knew the power of trusting your feelings.

He snorted as Ender asked who he'd been inviting aboard his ship. Maybe another time. Artee, can you get the ship's engines started? he asked. The request was equal parts because they would actually need to take off and because he wanted Artee and his loose vocabulator out of here.

Talak pretended to check his chrono and started hemming and hawing. I dunno, my schedule's pretty busy. I just had to fly all the way out to the Outer Rim to help this guy that got himself mind herpes, that really cut into my beauty sleep.... he started before grinning.

Yeah, I'll help, he said before frowning. You wanna rest up or head out? Flight'll take a while, but I don't know if that'll be enough time to heal up. Particularly since I don't know where this house we're looking for is, he said.

Ender couldn't help but grin when he heard Talak's words. He hoped that what happened before didn't scare him off and thankfully it didn't. It was a good thing he was joining. He was going to chase down the Scientist either way but he felt much more comfortable with Talak by his side either way. "It's contagious, watch out." But he gave a nod to his friend and stood up to go through with a handshake but instead gripping his forearm. It was a silent thanks and Ender stepped away before heading down a hall and to the nearest bed.

He didn't even turn back to Talak as he spoke, too focused on his one objective, "Rest. This is the first time I'll have fully slept in a while." Before he entered into a room, he paused and turned slightly, "Tell Artee to set a course for Wild Space. The house is out there." Ender didn't even know what the planet's name was but it was out there, he was sure of it. With that being relayed, he opened the door and fell on the nearest couch or bed, immediately falling asleep and peacefully.

---
It felt like the moment his eyes closed, they opened again the next second. His whole body groaned and he could tell time passed because his body begged for more sleep then it already had gotten. Ender shook his head before swinging his legs off the side of the couch as he took a moment to rest his head in his hand. His body begged for more sleep and part of him wanted to slump over right there. But he stood up and stretched his muscles, forcing them to wake up with him.

Ender stepped out of the room and down the hall, not knowing if Talak was up but assuming so, "How much farther are we?" He was still shaking off his sleepiness and he rubbed his eyes to speed up the process. Artee approached from behind some pipes in the ship, "Not that far at all, should be there momentarily." Ender just stared at the droid as it continued doing whatever it was doing. I never saw you as one to have a droid. He didn't know where the Sith was but he knew he would catch his thoughts.

Talak told Ender where the spare beds were and watched Ender promptly pass out. Talak couldn't blame him. It had been a long, ugly process, and Talak had left him in peace to get some rest. He'd made for the cockpit and he and Artee - with some whining about not having a proper heading - had set a course for the edges of Hutt Space and Wild Space.

After some time, Talak heard voices and stood from his chair in the cockpit before heading out to see what was going on. He heard Ender's voice in his head before he saw him.

I'm a complicated man, he said aloud with a smirk as he appeared from the hall to the front of the ship. It was true, and there was a great deal about himself that he didn't let others see.

He had grabbed a bottle of wine and a pair of glasses on route, pouring one for himself and setting the other down where Ender could have some himself if he liked.

Artee's been with me for... oh.. a decade now? he said with a frown, trying to remember the time. Eh, maybe not quite that long, he said with a shrug. He and the little droid had been through a great deal together.

Speaking of, when are you going to get your own ship? he asked with a smirk. Unless he'd purchased one that Talak wasn't familiar with, he was still without a ship.

"I can't argue with that one." Ender nodded toward him. He went toward the table while Talak gathered the glasses, promptly sitting in the booth and easing his body into the cushions. If it wasn't for the fact that they were close, he could have passed out right then and there but he needed to be awake for this. When Talak poured some champaign into his glass, he used the force to pull it into his hand and took a sip. It didn't taste bad at all and he downed the glass in a few seconds before putting it back down.

Ender shook his head and it gave him the jolt he needed. "Maybe I should get a droid, could have called you a lot sooner for help." It was a hard time deciphering reality back then and he thought comming Talak would have contacted the one in his head. When he asked when he was getting his own ship, Ender raised his eyebrow before glancing around, "Who needs a ship when I got someone like you and Artee?" There was sarcasm in his voice as it was true he probably did need his own ship soon.

He poured himself another glass of wine but when he put the bottle down, his gaze snapped toward the cockpit. "Stop!" Ender got up immediately and rushed into the cockpit as he placed a hand on a chair and stared out of the window. He lifted his other hand and pointed at a small green planet in the distance. "Go towards that." Artee glanced at Ender and then at Talak before altering the ship's course toward the planet.

When they approached, nothing seemed special about the planet but Ender couldn't tear his gaze away from it. "That's it. We're here." He didn't know how he felt but his emotions fluctuated as he stood there, his childhood still coming back to him as he remembered what happened to him on the planet.

Talak watched Ender down the wine quickly and quirked his eyebrow. He looked like he was about to pass out at any moment, and he couldn't help but be concerned about how that would play out going forward.

You look like you're about to pass out, do you need to rest more before we do this? he asked. If it had waited this long it could wait a few hours longer.

Little presumptuous there, he jabbed as Ender said that Talak and Artee could act as his chauffeur around the galaxy. He was about to continue when Ender abruptly stood and shouted to stop. All three of them went rushing back to the cockpit, and the ship dropped out of hyperspace and floated for a moment in the emptiness of space.

Master, scanners show that there is abundant wildlife, but I detect no major ports or cities, Artee said and Talak looked over at Ender.

They streaked through the sky to approach the planet, and it was nothing but jungle and forest as far as the eye could see.

Look familiar? he asked. They were literally flying blind about where to land. The scanners wouldn't easily pick up a tiny compound on a planet like this. It'd take hours or longer to find anything if they didn't have some guidance from the Force. For that, they needed Ender who knew what they were looking for.

Ender's gaze burned into the planet, unable to take his eyes away from it as the planet seemed to demand his attention. There was no chance for him to get rest then. He was meant to be down there and searching and would do just that. "We're not looking for a major port or city. We're looking for a house." When they broke through the atmosphere and got a good look at below, more memories flashed through his head of when he was younger and would dive under the branches and vines running away from other kids.

When there was somewhat of an opening in the trees, Ender pointed to it sharply, "Right there." Artee piloted the ship well enough to fit it down on some solid ground for them. When the hanger door came down, the Legionnaire was the first one off of it as his eyes quickly scanned their surroundings. There was no visual sign of where they should start walking but when he looked in a certain direction, he felt it, a pull in the pit of his stomach that was urging him to begin walking. Ender nodded toward that direction, "This way."

It was a swamp but it wasn't as marshy as the one on Nal Hutta. There was more solid land then mud and the only indication it was almost a swamp were the puddles and low branches from trees they had to duck under. As they continued, Ender spoke up, "There is no city on this planet. It's just a collection of farms, at best the biggest thing would be a village. I remember playing ball with other kids when I was younger." Each step brought his memories back with refined clarity, one after another slowly piecing the puzzle of his childhood and telling him how he actually became him. "We're getting closer." He murmured softly, Talak able to tell he was focusing in like a predator.

Talak took a seat in the cockpit as well, helping pilot the ship down to the opening that Ender spotted. He didn't know what they were going to find, but he couldn't imagine it would be worse than what was in Ender's mind if for no other reason than because the Force would actually respond to him in the real world.

The ship set down relatively gently and the ramp went down. Ender was almost running to the door and Talak followed, turning to look over his shoulder.

Artee, lock the ship down, he said. He didn't want anything getting inside unless it was one of the two of them. He fell in with Ender a moment later. The ground was marshy and a bit unpleasant, but it wasn't quite as wet as Nal Hutta.

Did they take you off world? he asked. Whoever these people were, it would be easier to track them down if they were only on one planet. He wasn't hoping their luck would be that good, but history could help guide their search in the present. In the meantime, he followed along with Ender. He was honing in on whatever they were looking for, and Talak kept his eyes peeled.

Ender kept his gaze locked forward like a hound that caught the scent of its prey. "From what I recall, no." He remembered being drugged and falling under when he was taken to the labs. Scratching the recess of his mind, he drew images of when he escaped and how the landscape resembled what they were in then. His best guess was that it was on the same planet but they would find out soon enough.

When there was a break from the trees that the two could pass through, they would find the house on the other end of the clearing. It was nestled between two trees, it two stories tall and remaining quite clean despite where it was located. There was an elderly woman outside on the front lawn, playing with two children as they ran around her and laughed out loud in glee. The old woman smiled back at them and when she lifted her gaze and found the two men standing there and staring at her, the smile vanished. "Get inside, now!" She ushered the kids with her hands and entered the house, slamming the door behind her and locking it.

Ender didn't say a word to Talak but he would sense something was different in him. An untamed rage that had been in slumber for years was finally unveiled to the surface. It wasn't primal anger but a calm one, one that was potentially even worse. With his long stride, Ender began walking and closed the distance quickly as he reached the door. He twisted the door handle to open it but with no success. He glanced at Talak behind him before taking a step back and launching his foot into the door. The force assisted it and it would result in the door flying off it's hinges and colliding into the wall behind it, knocking down pictures and shattering a table.

Ender stepped inside the house after, hearing the shuffle of footsteps above and on the level he was. His eyes weren't their usual blueish silver but a stark gold. His fist was clenched tightly as he reached out with the force, finding the familiar signature of the woman. Nothing was going to stop this for him, no door, no man, no woman. He didn't care if Talak followed him inside or not, Ender navigated the house like the back of his hand as he went on the search for the old woman.

It escalated quickly as the house came into view and the woman was there. Talak still didn't fully understand who she was or what she wanted, but he'd seen what she did. It didn't matter to him what she was after because he had no intention of standing in the way of Ender taking his own justice on her.

She ushered the children quickly inside, and Ender was quick to follow. Talak's hood was pulled up and his lightsaber hilt was in his hand now. He knew where this was going, and he wasn't going to be caught off guard when this turned into a fight.

Ender launched the door in and Talak started moving through the house as well. His steps were slower and more measured than Ender's, and he could feel the raging fury below the surface. He wanted blood and nothing would stand in his way. It was a familiar sensation that Talak had experienced himself. It scared him inside himself and it unnerved him feeling it in Ender.

From the deep end of the house, a pair of droids emerged with blasters in hand and promptly opened fire on Ender. They looked like they were a hundred years old, but it was what she had been able to get a handle on to manage the children and murder any parents who came looking. Somehow Talak knew that they had a great deal of blood on their hands. @Orbit
