Maura
Maura is a 18-year-old, near-human Jedi Knight. She stands around 5'7", weighs about 130 lbs, and has medium-toned, freckled tan skin and short, platinum blonde hair. She is a force-sensitive, and she generally looks a few years younger than she actually is.
★ Biography

Maura was found by a Jedi while wrapped up in a blanket, covered in scabs, and bruises, and begging for change on a street corner. He asked her if she would like a warm place to spend the night, then brought her to an orphanage. The Jedi set her up there and left the caretakers with his communication information with them on a whim. He then went on his way, leaving a grateful but confused little Maura in the hands of strangers.
The young child only spent a year or so at the orphanage before that same Jedi returned to collect her. During that time, she had given herself a new last name, inspired by the other kids there doing the same. The kid was fascinated by the stars and the pilots who flew into them, so she decided on the name 'Starwalk' because she wanted to "walk on a star one day." Of course, the caretakers at the orphanage knew that this was probably both a lofty goal for an orphan child and a silly name, but they had much bigger fish to fry. Thus, Maura became Maura Starwalk, a young girl with no future, no family, and only a child's innocent hope for the future.
Her time at the orphanage was much better than her time wandering the streets, but it was still not an ideal environment. There were many kids under the care of the caretakers there, and the social order there was very much survival of the fittest. The older, stronger kids would bully and beat the younger kids, and Maura fell under that second group. She spent most of her time there away from the orphanage, wandering the streets and causing mischief. Generally, Maura only returned to sleep, arriving after everyone went to bed and leaving before they woke up. It was here that Maura discovered hair dye, after a couple of the older kids pranked her by putting yellow hair dye into her shampoo. Fortunately, Maura loved it and began experimenting with all sorts of colors afterward.
When the Jedi returned, it was not because he had originally intended to do so in the first place, but because the caretakers had contacted him. They informed him when they did so that the girl he had left with them was trying to teach the other kids how to use the Force. She had banded together with many of the younger kids to throw rocks at the older kids and was "a danger to the other children." He returned, and after stifling a laugh at the last name Maura had chosen, asked her if she wanted to come with him to see the stars. He told her she would learn to use the Force and become a Jedi if she did. Of course, Maura saw absolutely no reason to say no, so on their way they went.

Maura was around seven years old when she was brought back to the Jedi temple. She fit right in with the kids her age at the temple. The ones who had been at the temple since they were babies wanted to know all about life outside the temple, and Maura was more than happy to tell them all about it. Pretty soon, she had her entire class babbling all sorts of slang. It was a huge ego boost for the kid. As for her studies, Maura was an eager student. She wanted to get her hands on anything she could, and her passion and dedication helped her to succeed.
At ten years old, Maura began to skip her classes. Her love of learning remained just as strong, but she could barely get herself to sit still in classes long enough to soak in the material. This led to her acting out, running away from teachers, and pulling pranks with other students while she should have been in class. These events eventually culminated in her getting called to the office for discipline. After intruding on Grandmaster Voran's office, interactions between the two eventually led to the Grandmaster agreeing to take Maura on as her apprentice after Maura deliberately asked her.
For the next five years or so, Maura grew more mature, though not very quickly. On multiple occasions, she'd sneak onto transport ships and end up in various places off-world, such as when she ended up fighting against the Sith on Onderon. Despite her misadventures and affinity for trouble, she was determined and resilient, two things that would come to serve her well later into her apprenticeship.

The life of a Jedi padawan is never easy, and the life of a Grandmater's apprentice is even less so. With higher expectations, more responsibilities, and the pressure of training under the Grandmaster, Maura had a lot to live up to.

★ Appearance

Maura stands rouhgly 5'7" and weighs about 130 lbs. She has warm, tan skin mottled with freckles, short and thick wavy blonde hair, and big, almost-black eyes with pupils that contract, dilate, and reflect like that of a cat. She is in incredible shape, and her athleticism is clear from her toned muscles and lean body.
Though she is humanoid in appearance, it is almost immediately obvious that Maura is not human. She has long, pointed ears like the Annfyn, and clawed fingernails like the Cathar and Firrerero. Her eyes are so dark that her pupils are often missed, but in the dark, it would be hard to ignore their green reflection of light. Maura's smile reveals her sharp, cat-like canines. Her nose is straight and consistent in width like those seen on Cathar.
As for biological differences, Maura has a third eyelid, a nictitating membrane that helps to protect her eyes from damage or dryness. Her superior night vision allows her to see with only one-sixth of the illumination humans need to see, which is helped by a reflective layer behind her retinas, similar to cats' tapetum lucidum. Additionally, and again like that of felid creatures, her pupils can contract to slits or dilate to wide black orbs depending on the lighting. Her senses of smell and hearing are better than the human standard.
Maura typically dresses very casually, and even her Jedi robes are more sporty than traditional. For casual wear, she likes tapered cargo pants, oversized t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other similar fits. Her color choice is usually pretty neutral with lots of blacks, whites, and greys. Both of these things are opposite for her choice of shoe: Maura is a huge sneakerhead and lives for big, colorful, and expensive sneakers. Her style in general leans very androgynous or even masculine, and she'll rarely ever be seen in a skirt or dress. She's also a big fan of silly graphic tees.

★ Skills and attributes

Psychometry. Maura was born with the unique ability to sense echoes of the past through certain objects. She's had little training with this ability and is mostly self-taught since there have not been any masters able to teach her to utilize the ability to its fullest potential.
The Force. Rather than typical applications like telekinesis, Maura excels at using the Force to augment her body. Whether that be strength, speed, or resilience. Being a fully trained Jedi Knight though, she is competent in most common uses of the Force.
Dyeing (hair). Since she's been dyeing her own hair since she was five or six, Maura definitely understands the mysteries of hair dye, even if she has since left it in the past.
Skimboarding. Maura got her skimboard when she was a pre-teen, and has been skimming ever since. She's long since entertained the idea of going pro, but has lacked the time until recently.

Claws. Much like the Cathar, Firrereo, and others, Maura has thick nails that grow out into sharp claws that need to be trimmed down every once in a while.
Night vision. Maura has excellent night vision, though she can only see in shades of grey. Additionally, her eyes reflect back an eerie green when light is shone right at them.
Hearing and scent. Maura has an increased sense of hearing and scent compared to that of baseline humans, but not quite as sensitive as the Sephi or Zygerrians, respectively.

★ Ruzaan Kai — (peer)
Ruzaan and Maura got to know each other pretty well after crash landing on a planet together where they butt heads and struggled to get along. In the end, though, they were able to work together and ended their escapade on a good note. Maura considers him a friend, though she still finds him needlessly cautious.

Maura thinks Leon is pretty cool, and even though the two of them aren't particularly close yet, she still considers him a friend.

★ Alexandria Voran — (master)
Master Voran, as Maura calls Alex, has been her master since she was ten years old and is the one person Maura trusts and looks up to more than anyone else. Maura wants nothing more than to make her master proud, and the two share a very close and strong bond. She is essentially a mother figure to Maura.
★ Hera Albion — (mentor)
Maura looks up to Hera. The councilor has always been a bit of a controversial woman, but she taught Maura a different way to view the Jedi teachings that ultimately served the padawan well. To this day, Maura respects the woman.

★ Hailee Lightwood — (gaming buddy)
Maura first fought alongside Hailee on Onderon, but they later bonded over datapad games on their way back to Yavin IV. She likes her for taking interest in her games - something almost everyone never cared about.
★ Layla — (childhood friend)
Layla was the closest Maura has ever come to making a real friend, but unfortunately, the girl left the Jedi Order to join the Star Guardians, which Maura is only a little bitter about.

Maura spoke with Wodan briefly after their fight on Ondeorn, but it was long enough for her to decide that Sith beliefs and philosophies don't make any sense at all. She definitely doesn't like the guy, but seeing as their interaction was brief, it's more of a mild distaste than anything.
