LEONID XORUS​

"Warrior of the light... that's what they used to call me, and some still do. But I can no longer accept that moniker. The wars have been tough over the years, and they have worn me down. So much so that I do not see the light.

I must feel the light, and that sensory practice continues to challenge me every day.

I know that I am still a Jedi on the path of light. Righteousness, peace, protection, battle - these still drive me. Even though the wages of war have cost me my full trust in the Jedi way, I still fight to preserve life.

Fight... that's not the best word for someone like me. But as each day passes, I connect to the Force and my mind and soul and body connect to its tendrils increasingly so. I am still a warrior of light, just without sight. The Force will guide me now..."

Leonid Xorus, also called Leo or Xorus, is a true Jedi Guardian, a front-line warrior of the Jedi Knights.
At least he was a front-line Knight until a recent war, where a near-fatal strike from the Exiles took his eyesight.
The Keshian relied so heavily on his sight, even outside frequencies most near-humans could see, that this was a devastating blow to him at the time.

Several months have past and during one of the few calmer periods for the Jedi Order, Leo has managed to come to grips with his handicap and begun to work with several masters, including Miralukan and Keshian, to increase his awareness and perception through the Force.

Once a great physical and tactical warrior, Xorus is a keen strategist and an experienced veteran. He knows his stuff,
and several know of his deeds. His strict upbringing gave him manners and regimental behaviors very befitting of the Jedi Order. He was a natural choice as a youth and, even with his injury, he continues to be a vital part of the Jedi.

EARLY HISTORY​

Leonid Xorus, born of Samson and Ferrua Xorus on Keshi, was much like many Keshian boys who grew up on a strict household, with a father and mother that were military professionals in their own youth, turned public servants. He was trained early in martial arts and duty and loyalty in all endeavors. And yet Leonid was also very well versed in Keshi and galactic history and culture.

Leonid grew to be a strong individual as well, with firm beliefs in community, peace, and the preservation of life. Despite his increasing tutelage in combat, the growing boy learned the importance of life and the bond the Keshians formed with their planet, their biosphere, and the broader galaxy. True balance can take a lifetime to learn, but he was on his way to learning this.

As Leo (a nickname used as he grew older) became a young man, his affinity grew not only towards martial combat and battle strategies, but also the Force. And this was noticed by his parents at a later stage. By that time, there was a small contingent of Jedi that would visit the planet on a sort of regular schedule, and they picked up on his abilities and brought him to the Jedi Order. His parents were saddened, but they knew Leo would do well there.

While his parents lived to be quite old, Leo avoided contact other than Keshi holiday messages and such. He avoided attachment, which was a practice of some Jedi. After the injury to his eyes, though, he would re-visit that belief and make attempts to visit home.

JEDI ORDER​

"The Jedi Knights are at war with the Exiles (precursors to the Lords of the Sith). A century of civil war has ended, but the galaxy descended into darkness and chaos. Jedi Knights, the most common group of people seen within the orders of Force users, are capable of harnessing the Force with effectiveness for combat purposes. Led by a broken Jedi Council, the scattered Knights struggle to rebuild the very soul of their Order after a century of bloodshed and betrayal. Conflicted and split, they seek to rebuild their numbers and heal the devastation inflicted by their wars. But for some, there is no cost too high in the quest to destroy those who split away from the Jedi Order and “started” the war."

This very conflict describes Leonid Xorus's career with the Jedi. Once he was picked up and trained by the Jedi, the strenuous and accelerated programs were designed to bump highly-attuned Force users to combat prowess, battle tactics, Force powers in combat, and overall constitution and will power. The programs were not hastened - the Jedi were patient - but not without urgency.

Leo did well and became a powerful student and eventually a Padawan to the Caitian Master Vorkas. She led him through many battles in the civil war with those who would be called Exiles. The battles were brutal, but they taught important lessons. Leo learned to trust his body, trust his connection to the Force, trust his senses and perception. He learned true combat tactics, battle meditation, and war strategies. When he was granted the rank and right of Knight, it was well deserved and easily accepted by those who knew him.

As it tends to happen during war, injuries and damage can be done. The Jedi lost many of their numbers, many enclaves, and much of their assets. Loss of limb and life was common, and only the best warriors and sages made it through the war.

In one of the last battles of the civil war, Leo was in battle with his master and others in a group, only to see her slain by one of these exiles. It was enraging, infuriating, and downright wrong in Leo's mind. The Knight drew on some of that emotion, although always careful to avoid crossing the line to the dark side, and took out this loss on their aggressors. The Battle of Indiana was devastating, with only a few survivors.

Leo survived, but not unscathed. A lightsaber came too close to his eyes and burnt both eyes and the sockets, causing permanent damage and loss of sight. One of his best abilities - sensing and perceiving - was now gone, almost completely.

After a short time in a medical bay, and training with a few other Jedi Masters, Leo would learn some key skills to aid him in his new condition. He would focus with sensing more through the Force, using Force Sight to see what is unseen, and relying more on the Force itself to tell him about his surroundings. He even spent time with a Miralukan Jedi Master for perspective on his status. He was growing strong with these new skills, but only time would tell if he could return to his place of glory as a true Jedi Warrior.

SKILLS​

Leo is a hardened warrior, but after the war he begins to rely heavily on his senses, and his connection to the Force. He also must rely on others. His abilities have been forced to change as he grows into these new shoes.

STRENGTH: Quite strong - Leo has always had great strength and agility, although he does not need to use it as much now. But he still keeps his body in shape
DEXTERITY: Weak but growing - He was very dextrous and agile as a warrior, but now is unable to hop around and such; he continues to work on this using his new senses
CONSTITUTION: Fairly hearty - Blind or otherwise, Leonid has been very steady and had a finely tuned body and mind; this did not change even with the war
INTELLIGENCE: Moderate - This has not always been his strong suit, although his strategic and tactical awareness does fall in here, with assistance from the Force
WISDOM (key): The Force is his ally - as with any Jedi, Leo is highly attuned to the Force and has used this link for battle, tactics, meditation, and now sensing and awareness; he has quickly become stronger with his will power and connection to the Force
CHARISMA: Formidable Foe - Leo was a keen warrior, deadly in battle and sometimes even worse with his glare and his stance; while blinded and keeping his face hidden he is not as fierce looking (which some say makes him more formidable)
